CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!
Could we possibly have an official comment from the commissioner about how we're handling the Cowboys free agents at time point in the offseason as well as going forward? I withdrew the one offer I had extended, but it appears some non-CPU teams still have offers
in place. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, sorry. Still catching up. I just forwarded all the trade requests to the committee that have been sitting for a few days. So, hopefully those will get processing pretty soon.

As for the Cowboys' players, I was kind of hoping njrockpd would give us an idea what plans he has for those guys. I mean, obviously, they SHOULD be on his team. And as such, I think it's only fair that we take those players off the open market. To me, the only thing that would change that would be if he has no intention of signing those guys (or might have considered cutting them to free up funds anyway). But yeah, those guys should be his as long as he wants them. I would like to know his thoughts before we advance again though.
i'm interested, i'm a newbie for online madden but not madde itself. what do i need to do to sign up for the waiting list?
Sooo...it looks like this guy only posted once? If he's still around and following the thread, and wants to post his info, the Rams are still available. Otherwise, I'll chalk this up as a driveby.

Also, one thing I want to make sure everyone is aware of (old and new players alike)...

YOU MAY NOT OFFER A FREE AGENT A LONGER CONTRACT THAN WHAT HE IS ASKING FOR. YOU CAN OFFER LESS YEARS THAN WHAT HE IS ASKING, BUT NOT MORE. YOU MAY OFFER ANY DOLLAR AMOUNT YOU WISH THOUGH.

For example - If a player is requesting a 5 year contract, you MAY offer him anywhere between 1-5 years...for any dollar amount. You MAY NOT, however, offer him a six or seven year contract.
Jesus Tom Brady wants 20mil for 1 year. At 37 players I don't think I can make that happen :D
doesnt help that doo mane messed up ur team good luck making it to 53 players
doesnt help that doo mane messed up ur team good luck making it to 53 players
Yeah idk. I'll be able to sign 53 but if anyone gets hurt Ill be in a lot of trouble.
While I dont entirely disagree with this sentiment, I dont think having the previous owner coming in and scolding him for trying to make the team fit his playstyle is helpful either.

I 100% get the apprehension with new players making trades...but to be fair, it's not like Blade left the team in tact either. He traded Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Navarro Bowman, etc. Just not really sure how to restrict it without being unfair. Besides, that's what the trade committee is for.
Lol I wasn't scolding him, he is new, I was just surprised at all the moves he was wanting to make. I don't know his level of skill, so I was merely trying to offer some advice. Especially moving Welker, cause like I said it is going to cost him a lot to move him.

Well, yeah. Cautioning on Welker, I get. I don't like eating large portions of contracts either. It becomes hard to rationalize the amount of savings when you take such a huge hit. But then again...look at what the Bills just did with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Instead of paying him $10M to play this season, they ate $10M to cut him.

i hardly doubt you would of given me so much "advice" if i would of went with the rams...but since i went with your "baby" you feel the need to try and still run the team how you see fit... its MY team now and i will run it how i see fit...thank you again for your "advice"

lol...I thought some people might take it that way. Lets just try not to blow it out of proportion. As with most things in this league, we have checks and balances for a reason. Nothing will get out of hand.

Does that count against their cap? I don't think it does. I wonder how much bonus money and other guaranteed money teams pay out to guys they cut. I may have to do some googling on that.
Bonus money does count against the team that is trading him.
yes. easy break down would be say a guy had a 5 year total contract with a bonus worth 10 million. and the guy had 3 years remaining on his contract. the team thats trading him would still owe him 6 million. if the team trade him then madden would take the 6 million divide it into 2 different years of cap pen. the years it goes into to is the current and the next year.
Bonus money does count against the team that is trading him.
I know there is also an issue with advancements on salaries. Tim Tebow was paid most of his salary in advance by the Broncos. When they traded him they tried to get the Jets to pay all of the advanced money. Not sure how it turned out.

I have never been one to give a huge bonus just because it takes out all the flexibility of moving a guy.

Yup bonus' make it hard to part with players. The lions use a lot of bonus' in real life so it makes it hard to cut players I don't want or need. Though I'm pretty satisfied with what I have.

Also I'm glad I didn't trade stafford or cut him like I thought about that Tom Brady money is crazy and his accuracies aren't even at Stafford's neither is his throw power

Ya well thanks for being a dick about cause I sure wasn't. No shit it's your team, people come into this league with varying degrees of skill. If I remember correctly or maybe I am wrong this league was built on trying to help people.

Can you see FA's stats somewhere? I was trying to determine if Brady was worth $20mil

then maybe you misunderstood my comment as its just plain text in a forum...as well as me taking your several comments the wrong way...but go ahead and re read your comments because i just did mine and i can see how mine came across that way but look at it from my view...a private message would of gone alot further in showing you cared instead of posting a number post basically calling me out for wanting to make my team my own
It takes a special kind of guy to make himself look like the asshole in an argument with Blade.
he doesnt know me and i dont know him...so to question my motives for wanting to make my team my own came across the wrong way with me....anyone in here who has played against me knows im not an asshole at all so maybe you should take the time to get to know someone before you assume something about them
Some of my good friends on this forum are people I started off arguing with, for what it's worth.
Sorry I haven't been able to get on. I'm logging in right now and I will make offers. I will post in 20 minutes to give an update.

LOL that sounds like a slogan. Instead of "Live fast and die young", it's "Eat shit and die young."

Sorry thought about PMing, but it wasn't like I was sitting here wondering what was going to happen to them. The app I use lists any of the threads in order by the most recent post if I have ever posted in them. Your post showing your trading block was showing as the most recent so I thought I'd offer some advice, mainly I saw Welker at the top and that's what sparked my interest. I don't care to re-read mine or your posts, you are more then welcome to though.

The Cowboys offered contracts to Jason Witten, Anthony Spencer, Miles Austin, and Morris Claiborne. Players were cut to free up cap space and I'm also not putting an offer out for QB Jay Cutler. So at this point everyone but

Jason Witten
Anthony Spencer
Miles Austin
Morris Claiborne

are fair game.

...a lot of hostility in here today

On another note, what time are we planning to advance tomorrow?
Ok, that seems like a pretty good start, haha. I'm about to send Tiger his invite and advance us to the next round of the offseason. We'll plan to advance again on Sunday night UNLESS everyone selects "ready to advance" sooner. I know some people are out of town this weekend, so we'll definitely make sure everyone has a chance to handle their stuff before we move on.

i guess i will wait for cagleaguesports to come around for the help
But did you read what I had posted before? Some people are out of town and we're waiting on them to get back. How can I possibly know what time people are going to get back to be able to tell you a time that we'll advance?
Do "Cut Savings" mean the same savings for trading the player? I'm a little confused on the bonuses.
Yes, if you trade them or cut them, that's how much will be relieved from your salary cap.
Can y'all wait till Wednesday for me to advance?
Dude, I'm just going to ask. Is there any way you could be less of an antagonistic bitch? I don't know if you had a shitty week or if you just think you're hilarious, but it's becoming obnoxious. You're not in this league anymore. That was your choice. Coming in here telling people how to run their team and making fun of how the league functions is just making you look like a jackass. But if that's what you're going for, you're doing a great job.
