not sure if this was referring directly to me or if there are other people on vacation as well, but I will be returning some time next monday (insert witty april fools joke) and the night of the 2nd is the most realistic time for me to do anything off season related. Whoa...you're gone from now until 4/2? I don't remember reading that. Both Lexxon and scrub0bk had mentioned about being out of town this weekend, but being able to do their free agency on Sunday night. My thought was to at least wait on them since this past week was spent waiting on me.

I'd love to have everybody here at the same time, but with 32 people, it's probably just going to be an endless cycle. It's going to be unfair to someone at some point. I realize that my situation provided a bit of preferential treatment, but it is what it is. Anyone who feels like they're getting screwed and doesn't want to play, as a result, I wouldn't blame you. With it being the final season, we'll just have to do the best we can.
Got word from cool_iAM that he's going to drop. So, the Chiefs are now open as well.
As myself, I am very sad to see him go. He's a great guy, and will be missed. As the Broncos, I am psyched to not have to play him twice a year. :D

Hey Nate, I see you're playing The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. How bad is that game? I think it has a 36% on Metacritic.

Trade Rejected

I know this is your first trade, jbake, and I would have PM'd you directly, but I'm still trying to get everything in order with advancement, potential draft times, etc. But we need to see actual numbers for Brandon Banks. There's an example for relevant attributes under the "Trades" section in the first post of this thread. For Banks, you'd want to include basic WR stats (CTH, SPD, RTE, RLS, etc)...but obviously, you'd want to include his assets as a return man as well. Just numbers to support why he's worth the proposed trade. Just resubmit the trade with that info included and we'll be happy to review it. Thanks!

In speaking with Tiger he has a very specific gameplan which he actually laid out in the thread:
"With running a balanced offense i figure i only need 2 WR and 2 TE...and seeing how im sure alot of people would want wes welker i would be fine with dealing him if the price was right....i like to run a 4-3..so getting another defensive linemen would be key to my scheme...also i dont need 4 CBs and looking around the league alot of people dont have 1 CB over an 80 and i have 4 so again good trade bait...."

I feel confident about the trade we are sending to you guys is actually, now that I have looked at the numbers, is fairly balanced with the Texans sending 2 players, in Antonio Bryant giving him a solid 3rd receiver with his first 2 being Bowe and Moss as well as the DT tackle help he needed to help with his scheme. As the Texans owner I really felt that i didnt have anyone to really RELY on besides Johnson and Daniels who is my TE. Having a solid WR in Welker helps balance out my attack and gameplan as well.

CAP SPACE: 21 Million
Trade Rejected

Despite Welker's age, the trade committee felt that he was worth more than this. You can't really call it a "salary dump" either once you factor in the large cap penalty the 49ers would be incurring. Might want to add a mid round draft pick to balance it out.
Hey Nate, I see you're playing The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. How bad is that game? I think it has a 36% on Metacritic.
Personally, I'm having a good time with it. I'm not a bad game snob though. I've played a lot of "crappy games", and was able to enjoy the experience. I've played through Vampire Rain, LOST: Via Domus, Deadly Premonition, 50 Cent Blood in the Sand, both Saw games, etc. and somehow managed to have fun with each game. I'm a huge Walking Dead fan, so the fact that the game has some flaws doesn't ruin the experience for me.

Sometimes I feel like people rip on the dumbest stuff. I've heard people say "Oh, the zombies are so easy to kill! You can just walk up and shove them, and then stab them in the head." Yeah...and? Dead Island was a great game, and I vividly remember doing flying kicks and curb stomping almost every zombie I came across. The difference is that this game doesn't have super powered mutated zombies. It also only works when you're able to take them on 1-2 at a time. Like any good zombie material though, if you get surrounded by 8-10 of them, you are fuckED, lol.

I actually think the game is pretty solid if you play it like a steatlh game. People may not like the fact that a hunting knife or machete is a more effective weapon than a shotgun...but unless you want every nearby zombie to start stumbling toward you from all directions, it's best to keep your gun holstered. There's definitely times with the game where I have felt like I'm in the comic book (especially the issues where they're clearing out the prison). If you want to explore every area, you've got to just take out zombie after zombie, spraying blood as you go. All things considered, I think people are just shitting on it because it's the easy thing to do.

I can understand that. I have no right to judge it, as I haven't and probably won't ever play it. I too have played plenty of "bad" games, Turning Point, Yaris, Homefront, Brink, Dark Void, etc. I had heard from various places that TWD was just flat out broken, but it is good to hear that it's playable.

Just a reminder to everyone, my Right Guard Chad Rinehart is still up for trade. I will take a 2nd Rounder, a fast safety, or maybe even a fast wide receiver. Hit me up!

I agree. It's pretty mediocre. If you didn't run into any game breaking bugs (Which I didn't, but had a friend who did.) it was enjoyable. Some people absolutely hate that game though. I also enjoyed Turning Point at the time also. I can't pretend to have enjoyed Yaris though, it's so bad.

It was an awful free Xbox Live Arcade game years ago. They actually removed it because of "quality issues". Here's the Wikipedia page. And of course here is the awesome 17% on Metacritic.

Edit: A quote from a review. "As the title is completely free, you should ask yourself different questions related to value. For instance, "Is the title worth the 17.5 seconds it will take to download it?" That's a tough one. You could take out the trash in that amount of time, a much more rewarding task than playing Yaris." - VideoGameTalk.com

Haha, I have also played through Turning Point and Homefront. And I definitely don't consider Homefront to be a bad game. I actually loved the story of Homefront (the intro still gives me chills...especially with what North Korea is up to now). I thought it had more atmosphere and feeling to it than a lot of shooters. Yes, the execution wasn't flawless. But I guess that just goes along with my idea that the concept, story, and experience is worth more than being Call of Duty 2K14. Not that I don't play those games too...I just appreciate when a game tries to do something different, and can cut it more slack if it has issues while trying to do something original.

Sometimes I question if people understand what "game breaking" means though. I played through Homefront three times and never had a major issue. And I've been playing TWD: Survival Instinct for a good while and although the combat isn't perfect, it's easily passable. I haven't had any hit detection issues or other weird bugs. Yes, the AI isn't brilliant...but find me a game where they are. People who only play the huge blockbusters are the reason so many developers have gone out of business lately, and are why most games are just more of the same these days.
Is the plan still to advance tonight?
If we hear from Lexxon and scrub0bk. Otherwise, it'll be tomorrow. I don't like it...but like I said, I'd feel like a huge hypocrite holding things up for me and then saying we can't wait another day for them. Just trying to get this stage past us and then we can get back to normal.

I think part of the disdain for the new Walking Dead game is that it was made by Activision. I do agree though, if a game gets a 6.5 - 7 I'll still play it if I'm interested.

Shaun Phillips (LOLB) - 33 Years Old - 91 OVR - 82 SPD, 82 STR, 89 ACC, 87 AWR, 87 TAK, 88 POW, 86 BSH, 76 FMV, 92 PMV, 91 PUR, 87 PRC (9.49M Cap Hit in 2014, $9.4M Signing Bonus, 5 Year Contract, 3 Years Remaining)

Quentin Jammer (CB) - 35 Years Old - 84 OVR - 83 MCV, 82 ZCV, 84 PRC, 94 PRS, 81 PUR, 94 JMP, 89 SPD, 87 ACC, 82 AWR ($6.15M Cap Hit in 2014, $8M Signing Bonus, 6 Year Contract, 4 Years Remaining)

I also have some questions. What does "Rookie Reserve" mean? Is that money set aside for any rookies you take in the draft, so I don't have to worry that my cap space won't be enough to sign my rookies? I have $10M in rookie reserve. Is that enough for a top QB prospect and others?

Yes. Each draft pick has a predetermined salary. Whether you draft a quarterback or a kicker, it doesn't matter. I had the 4th overall pick in the last draft and I wanna say he made around $4M last season. If you acquire draft picks, your Rookie Reserve will go up and your current cap room will go down. The opposite will happen if you trade away draft picks.

I'm still open to acquiring draft picks if anyone is interested, but I will need to know soon or else I may not be able to afford a trade.

Miles Austin
Anthony Spencer
Mo Claiborne
Jason Witten

It is my understanding that these players are off limits. 49ers have a bid on Witten though, so I don't know what is up with that. Same rules as last offseason, so the max number of years is the number the player is asking for. You can offer less years, but no more than what they are asking. You can offer as much money as the game allows.

So the Seahawks are poor as hell. I've never really looked at my salaries. Flynn is making a buttload (but has a big bonus..), just released Leon Washington, still only like 3mil in cap room. Down two corners, a receiver or two, no FB, down backup TEs...

Going to have to pay attention in this year's draft.

I blame ARod. Final year of his contract, so he's making a buttload.

I wouldn't worry too much about the fullback, I don't think madden requires you to carry one (don't quote me on that) and most teams line up a blocking TE as fullback if they have a formation that requires one. The opposite also holds true, if a team carries a fullback it is usually because they are also used to line up at TE, HB or WR (ie Oaklands Marcel Reece, Houstons James Casey, Pitt's David Johnson, Raven's Vonta Leach). The FB position is the least of your worries if you are down that many players with tight cap.
