CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!

Also, I'm going to get a final draft time hammered out tonight, guys. It's taking a little longer than expected because some of the responses I've gotten back for this most recent PM conflict with what the person told me in the first PM. Some people who were unavailable Sunday @ 7PM are all of a sudden available, and vice versa. I'm just going to tally the most recent numbers and see what we get. Doesn't speak much for consistency though, lol.

EDIT - All right, I've received enough responses to make a ruling. Offering times on Monday didn't help at all. It may seem surprising, but I've already got 9 people who would not be able to make Monday at all, and 2 more who wouldn't be able to make the most popular time that day. So, I would say after reasonably exhaustive research, Sunday @ 7PM EST is the time the most people can make. I apologize to those who can't make it that day. There just isn't a better way to do it. Of course, again, EA could have alleviated some of this aggravation just by making the draft system as functional as it was in Madden 12. I'm not sure how they figure that removing being able to set up a draft board in advance and removing the ability to draft from the website made for a better game. But yeah...EA is a horrible developer. Anyway...

Madden 13 Gentlemen's League Draft - Sunday, March 31st at 7PM EST!

*Trades submitted after 2PM EST on 3/31 will not be reviewed until after the draft. Meaning, if you have a trade involving a draft pick, get it in before 2PM EST on draft day.

Just want to let everyone know I'm trying to read and respond to PMs, but depending on when I go out of town it is hard to respond to everything.

I'd like to work out pre-draft trades, but more than likely I'll probably just have to pick who I pick and then try to make some moves after the draft.

Im really glad to see the cowboys are keeping romo. I know alot of people think he sucks. Which i will admit he does choke at times. But his offensive line has never really helped the guy out that much.

I think the rest of us are happy too. We don't have to worry about seeing the cowboys in the Super Bowl anytime soon lol.

So is there a way to set a draft board or something so the CPU can draft people for you? I believe I'll be at work during the draft. :( sucks cause I found some really good backups and possible starters for me.

For anyone that I am in trade discussions with, who I end up trading with might come down to whoever comes to me first with a final offer. I'm not going to wait until the 2 PM deadline on Sunday for you to field offers on your guys, then have my trade rejected with no chance to revise it. If you want any of my guys, I would like to come to an agreement sometime tonight so we have a chance to revise the trade if it gets rejected.

For those of you who won't be able to make it to the draft, I have some starting quality players I would trade for your picks. I would like to agree to deals sometime tonight if possible.

Sadly, no

Nope. EA removed that feature from the game because it's their goal to ruin everything that is good and make each game as shitty as possible, lol.

I truthfully cannot agree more.

In all serious though. I just found out a have a friend who's cousin works as a coder for the Madden series. I may have to get in contact with this guy

I think he's a pretty good QB. I'd trade Josh Freeman for him anyday. But my hang up is the money.

Also, why do QBs want to always be the highest payed player in history? They know its only going to last till the next big QB contract. (What? One season at most?) Why not take less money and enable the team to get better players for you to work with? Look at Flacco. He was the highest paid for like a week and they lost a lot of players because of it
Look at Flacco. He was the highest paid for like a week and they lost a lot of players because of it
That's actually a common misconception. Flacco's 2013 cap number is only $6.8M. His 2014 and 2015 numbers are slightly under $15M. The deal is expected to be restructured after that because his number inflates to nearly $30M in 2016. Baltimore lost players because they weren't willing to overpay for guys they didn't need.

I have a reason for this! I originally thought I would be having a late Easter dinner with family. It changed, and is now a lunch, so I can make both times!

Edit:
Any (very early) word on the Bears trade? Not to rush, but I'd like to have time to redo it before the draft if necessary.
We've seen it. I have voted. I am sure you'll see a response soon. Same with the Ravens/Colts trade.

The cowboys are still looking to move draft picks. I believe my 2nd, 3rd, and 5th are not currently involved in trades. No trades have been finalized though so any pick is available for the right price.

No I submitted one the other day involving arian foster and patrick willis, I even had to resubmit it bc I forgot to put willis contract terms in the original proposal

You guys gotta cut me some slack with these trades. This is one of the busiest times getting everything ready for the draft. Today alone, I've received 82 PMs. If it's been less than 24 hours since you submitted your trade, please try to be patient.

Trade Rejected

A few in the committee didn't feel like enough was coming back to the Chargers in this one. A very late 1st round pick, and two mid level players didn't seem like enough to net two very capable star level players. I would say another pick (mid round) or another 70s player would balance this out a bit better.

It's ok. Just trust that I'm getting to things as quickly as I can. Just a particularly busy time for the league, in the midst of regular life responsibilities as well. My main focus today was making sure the draft time was figured out.

Okay. I submitted a different version that should appease the voters.

Sam Baker and Bryant McKinnie are still available for trade. I have too many starting quality offensive tackles and would probably take a 2nd round pick for either player.

For those that are unaware, you can still edit players to different positions in this game, but it is very limited. You can move RT=LT, RG=LG, RE=LE, LOLB=ROLB and I think that is it. You just hit Edit Player and change the position. They retain their original ratings when you do it this way. So if you need a RT, these players can be moved to that position. This is different from moving them on the depth chart.

Also for those unaware, schemes determine a players overall rating. Scheme can be changed by hitting Strategy and going to Schemes. For example, Haloti Ngata is one of the best defensive lineman in the game. If I put my RE scheme as 3-4 Run Stopper, he is a 97 OVR, but if I change my RE scheme to Speed Rusher, he becomes a 79 OVR. This is one of the reasons why OVR ratings are not that important. You need to look at the individual attributes if you want to know whether a player is good or not.

Keep in mind when changing positions on the depth chart in games it actually effects their original ratings. For example if I were to switch my RG to LG on the depth chart during a game and he has 80 RBK and 80 PBK rating normally his ratings may drop down to the low 70s with the position change. I hope editing player positions before the game doesn't have the same effect.

It doesn't. You can check it for yourself in game.

I believe you. I was just originally worried about it.

Looking to move all of my picks let me know if there is anyone you want to move.

(and I mean anyone. back up linemen, DT's, HB's prefered.)

Does anyone now why after we advance a week, the computer changes my individual defensive schemes I've set? My defense is set to an attacking 4-3 yet after we advance it changes my DEs to 3-4 run stoppers?
JPP is a lot of things, but 3-4 run stopper isnt one of them lol.

Maybe if you have a 3-4 defensive playbook then it wouldn't matter what your scheme is because your plays are 3-4 set.

I'm getting ready to go out of town until tomorrow night so I'll be limited on discussing trades. I was hoping to get something done, but I think I'm going to have to stay at #2. If anyone does have an amazing deal though let me I'll try to reply. I need CBs and WRs, less so offensive line.

The Cowboys are still looking to move draft picks. I believe my 3rd and 7th round picks are up for trade and will come at a very low price.

OT Bryant McKinnie and SS Bernard Pollard are still available for trade. RG Marshall Yanda and WR Vincent Jackson are also available, but only for a top draft pick or a comparable MLB/CB/HB. If you have a MLB I want, I would include MLB Jameel McClain in any trade along with another player or draft pick.

While Jammer is getting up there in age, he's still got pretty serviceable Madden stats (PRS and PRC in particular). And really, both guys the Chargers are getting back bring nothing to the table when you consider this is the final season of the league. Raymond's numbers are barely passable, and despite Robinson's speed, his PRS and PRC will get him eaten alive.

Chiefs are not CPU owned...

The new owner, sicsonic already informed me of an issue between him and the Cowboys. Apparently a trade was proposed through the game and accepted. sicsonic apologized, saying that he's still learning how the league works. But njrockpd should have known better.

NO TRADE PROPOSALS SHOULD BE MADE IN THE GAME UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN APPROVED IN HERE.

Final warning.
