Titans - 38
Colts - 7
Chris Johnson was apparently angry that he didn't get Player of the Week last week, lol. On a soggy day in Nashville (only reason I miss the Saints dome...though thank God the weather isn't near as bad as in Madden 12), CJ went off for 254 yds on 32 carries, and 4 TDs.
The Colts opening drive was halted by an interception, and after riding CJ down the field, Jake Locker found Nate Washington over the middle for the opening score. The Colts fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, which was recovered by Tennessee, which led to another quick TD, this time by Johnson.
The Titans took a 21-0 lead into the half, and were due to receive the ball to start the 2nd half. Surprisingly, Indianapolis came out in an onside kick formation. I tried audibling, but I guess you can only audible OUT of an onside kick recovery and not into one. I had to burn a timeout, but I also paused the game to ask snakemaster if he did indeed plan on going for an onside kick so we didn't have a mix up again. He told me yes, so I chose the proper formation, and recovered the kick.
I guess it's a little annoying that I had to burn a timeout, but I don't blame snakemaster. I don't know if I would have gone for the onside kick down 21 with an entire half to play, but I probably should have played it safe and came out in an onside recovery formation...and then audibled out if I needed to. I guess I would just advise people to plan for that if they have a 3 score lead and are due to get the ball back.
Chris Johnson ended up rushing for another TD on that drive, and the Titans took a 35-0 lead into the 4th, when the Colts offense finally punched one into the endzone. I started working the clock after that, and after a 20 yard run by CJ with about 1:30 left in the game which put me at around his 18 yard line, it seemed like the Colts weren't going to use their timeouts (they had all 3), as they just let the clock drain down. Seeing what appeared to be submission, I came out and kneeled the ball with about 0:45 left in the game. Again, he let the clock drain down.
I called for another QB Kneel, and once the clock went under 0:40, I just took a knee, so I could pull up the guide and begin typing my message to tell him "gg" and whatnot. Surprisingly, here he called timeout. This kind of miffed me a little bit as it seemed pointless and was just prolonging the game. After seeing that, I wasn't about to kneel it again, so I called a running play. I was REALLY tempted to call a playaction, but I didn't want to really be a dick because of a small hinderance that ultimately wouldn't matter. After gaining 4 yards on the run, it brought up 4th down, and he used his 2nd timeout. So, I kicked the field goal with about :10 left to give me a 38-7 lead.
With this late surge of aggressive play, I decided to do the realistic thing and squib kick the ball (which I did exactly according to rules...straight down the middle, no height/angle adjustment). This gave him the ball with :07 left. He completed a short 4 yard pass, used his final timeout, and then completed a crazy hail mary pass to my 30 yard line to end the game. I don't know if he just wanted the XP at the end or what, but it was an odd finish. Not really sure what to think about it, as I'm not going to complain when I got the win. Just not sure what the point was.
