Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
The M4 doesn't have a burst mode, it's fully automatic. The M16 is burst only.
Ah thanks-- I guess I can't create a kit just yet at my level to try a different weapon, appreciated.
just play for a day and you'll reach the cap.
Yeah I leveled up to the create a class right before I turned it off last night. Seems like that opens things up quite a bit since I can finally choose perks/weapons. I probably was getting a kill for every 2 times I was dying the first few games...

The default classes aren't bad at all. I was using Heavy Gunner for quite a while, all I really did was switch out Stun grenades for the RPG and add a red dot sight once I unlocked it (the ACOG sight sucks). I only switched to RPD to do its challenges.

Don't forget you have a grenade launcher with the default Assault kit too.

This is so annoying. Both today and yesterday I have tried to get a code as soon as I got home and both days they have been out.

Edit: Thank you for the code Flyersfan.

That's weird you arent able to get it. I'm on PST time and I got back from school around Monday, 11:30a PST (2 1/2 hours after sign-ups started) and I was able to get one with no problem.

I gave the code to my cousin who had school at the time so I signed up for him.

How long do you guys typically have to wait to get into a game? mine just sits on waiting for players for what seems like forever, i think one time i waited over 10 minutes.

Depends on the time of day. I posted yesterday I was home on a weekday morning and it took almost an hour to get in a game.

CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE COLLECTOR'S EDITION CALLED INTO BATTLE

Santa Monica, CA - Sept. 11, 2007 - Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that a Limited Collector's Edition of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™ for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows® PC will begin deployment on November 5 as part of the worldwide launch of the most intense and cinematic action game ever. Each Limited Collector's Edition includes a special hardcover book featuring exclusive concepts, never-before-seen imagery and final artwork from the award-winning team that details the breath-taking action from the soldier to the satellite.

The Xbox 360 edition also takes gamers behind-the-scenes with a bonus DVD containing more than four hours of interviews and features, an exclusive documentary exploring the British S.A.S from World War II to modern day, and a series of "making of" vignettes highlighting Infinity Ward's research, technology and story development for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. For Windows PC fans, in addition to the hardcover art book, the Limited Collector's Edition for PC will include a digital copy of the BradyGAMES Official Strategy Guide. The strategy guide provides players with a detailed single-player walkthrough, top-down maps, multiplayer strategies, weapon load-outs, and numerous other tips for the hardcore soldier.

New info on Collector's Editions. I'm pretty disappointed about it. It seems pretty weak compared to what you get in other collector's edition (IE. Prey, Lost Planet, Halo 3, etc.)

If anybody has an extra code I'd be willing to pay 200 ms points. If nobody has an extra one right now, I will give 200 ms points to someone if they can get me one from Gamespot tomorrow.
I'll give you the extra I have for free, if you still need it.

PM me.

I got a key this morning, and I pretty much played all day. The game is very addicting. I did not have a chance to play in the Halo 3 beta, but given what I have seen with CoD 4, Halo will definitely have some competition.

In terms of the maps, I really like the Vacant level. The other two I have to say are rather boring and tedious to navigate, but given how fun the gameplay is, it really does not matter.

My one complaint is that some of the weapons feel a bit too powerful in their current state, so hopefully that will be fixed before retail hits.
How do i get the call of duty 4 beta from this site???
From this site as in the one you're posting on? You don't.
You can get one from Gamespot tomorrow at 9am PST they are giving away 20,000 a day supposedly through friday.
I got mine 90 mins after the time

I got a code and jumped in.. First few matches seemed to be full of jerks but finally found a decent match and had a good time. This has moved to the top of my holiday must buy list for the 360.

After leveling up to even the playing field I am pretty addicted to this game. Still think Gears of war is a overall better game, but the class/perks are growing on me. Have to say I haven't seen Maps like this since Far Cry...
Loving the beta ...I think I might have found a new favorite game
IAWTP

With games like this, it's rare that I spend much time with multiplayer after beating the campaign, but this one is a real treat for me. I usually get owned online (one reason I rarely play) but I got 4 straight kills right off the bat. Soon after this I was schooled into a fine red mist, but I'm still loving the game.

The fact that they got the game running at 60FPS is astonishing considering the graphical quality, so they definately need to be applauded for that. The weapons feel great as well, and the customization options are very nice.

This is a definite purchase for me, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the single player campaign.

Are there any CAG games scheduled yet?
I have an extra code available if someone needs it.
I have a friend who needs one.

If I could have it for him, that would be great.

I got it to work. I normally don't like shooters, but I am loving this beta. I wish it had a saved film thing, I've had some pretty cool moments in it.

Pestilence- that link took me to the default main gamestop page. I looked at the CoD4 listing for 360 on gamestop.com, no info about the beta key to be found. Could you maybe post the email?
More info on this preorder bonus please!

Finally tried it out tonight. Still getting a hang of the maps - got run up on from behind far too many times. Scoped shooting feels like cheating - my accuracy went way up (even though my current gun's scope is too small to see anything, I just shoot in the general direction). All in all, it's a lot of fun. Plenty of games to be grabbing this holiday season...
I don't know if anyone has said yet, but I recieved an email today at work stating that anyone that pre-orders CoD4 from gamestop, gets a beta key from GS. Give the guy your email so that you can register it.

here is the link for the info guys.
I dont know if this has been already established or not but the gamestop page indicates that the beta ends at the end of September. Nice to know.

Getting run on up from behind happens all the time, playing team games lowers that though if you have a good team.

Levels are honestly a lot smaller than I was expecting, I'm hoping for some bigger maps in the retail version.

I thought that too. Im hoping that the beta levels are small cos they are just that, a beta test. These levels are way to small for 8 on 8. I expect much bigger maps in the final game.

I was planning on waiting for this game to come on sale before I bought it, but now after playing the beta, I'll be sure to pick this up right away.

I actually really like small, cramped levels like that. Like Ryles said, the quality of your team (and their ability to hold certain areas) is crucial, but I like the strategic elements it introduces.

I must be blind, I can't find the dl on marketplace. I thought I looked everywhere. Any help would be appreciated. I got a token last night.

Thanks

It gives you the download when you enter the token. If it didn't for some reason, try this:

6. While downloading the Public Beta, my download was interrupted or cancelled and now it says my code is invalid. How do I download the beta now?
If you have already started downloading the Public Beta from Xbox Live, and it was interrupted for any reason, simply go to:
1. The Marketplace Blade on your Xbox 360 Dashboard.
2. Select Account Management on the lower right hand menu.
3. Select Download History from the menu.
4. Choose Call of Duty 4: MP Beta.
5. Choose Download Again.
This will restart your download without requiring you to re-use your token.
