Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
Ironic how the GOTY edition is coming out on 4/1 when XBOX LIVE! will be down for 3 hours during the early afternoon/evening.
Never thought of that. Sucks for those people!

Playing in clan matches to me is not really that fun. In this game especially considering you are rewarded for camping. Played in 3 so far for other peoples clans that needed a sub. First game did average because I was actually moving then I camped the other 2 and did well. TDM camping is the best tactic sad enough
I don't care about the CAG d-listers, I really wanted to play this guy and his team.
Hey now, I'm at least on the C-list. ;)

Games with CAGs are always fun. Even if we lose (which seems to be rare, thanks more to the other guys than myself) we're usually busting up laughing at each other's jokes the whole time, especially on the few occasions where I've been on a team comprised solely of CAGs.

EDIT: I'm curious- What's the largest amount of time any of you have put into this game? My good friend, a Level 28, 10th prestige, just passed 15 days- or 360 hours. I played a lot of Halo 2, but I don't think I put in that much time in 4 months.

I got the game in early January, and while I was without a system for a month, I am at 1 day, 22 hours, and just hit Level 54 (no prestige).
Man, I just played in my buddy's clan going against another clan. Playing Deathmatch and playing with clans are so different. I thought I was good... until I played clans.
I'm not a camper, so I don't bother with the Search and Destroys that much. I'm a terrible sniper as well. Give me my AK and let me run.

Ive got 18 days in the game, but over the last 3 days I have logged in more then 1 day due to a friend being over here and playing almost all of the day. Easy 8 hours a day. I will probably not play so much once I get top 100 in kills but until then im on my grind
I don't care about the CAG d-listers, I really wanted to play this guy and his team.
Should be a good match from what I've been hearing. I'm thinking for gametypes, we choose one, then you choose one and the final being a Team Deathmatch on a neutral map that we can decide. Otherwise I really have no idea how to make the choices fair. Ya dig?

Well they can play through the game 14 times in the time it is down.

What prestige are you? I'm interested in reading answers on their play time and level from the CAGs more experienced than me, which is almost all of them.

I am on 6th prestige and somewhere around level 25. I think my play time is about 8.5 days or so. Granted I stood at level 55 and 1st prestige level 55 for about 4-5 hours each debating whether or not to do it.

I have kept track on a couple different times through prestige with the average being about 1 Day and a few hours to get through it. (Note: That is playing combos of Headquarters, Domination, TDM, Ground Wars, and a very seldom S&D)

Depending on how much play time I get the next couple weeks, this may be my last prestige, since once GTA IV comes out I probably won't play COD4 much. Also BF: Bad Company will probably consume a lot of my time.

10th prestige lvl 55 but im more proud of my 180 ranking in kills. Trying to move into top 100 but when you get high on the leaderboard the kills between ranks is huge. From 100 to me is like 10,000 kills. So I dont know if it will be possible to do before GTA

MVP, I also am a very hardcore Jags fan (and a very anti-patriots).

Quick question for anyone, do you get more XP points for playing team matches vs. Free for all?

I only ask because i recently finished the campaign and started multi last night. Im up to bout lvl. 12 or so but it seems like it can take forever to get to 55, I'd like to atleast get a few prestige classes before GTA releases.

Thanks in advance.

Besides the obvious 5XP/K in Free for all compared to the 10XP/K in TDM, the bonus is pretty much based off of how well you do, but I don't think anyone has really been able to figure out exactly how they figure it. In some game modes, time appears to play a factor in Bonus XP.

If you wanna level up fast, play HQ. You get 5 pts every however many seconds that your team holds the HQ on top of the XP you get for kills. You also need to do the challenges too.

i feel you a little bit... no where near as bad, but not playing for 6 hours a nght like i used to (hitting maybe 2-4) is barely keeping me in the top 1,900. the kill spread isn't too hard to catch, but you drop ranks fast if you don't play much. i think within those 2-4 hours i play i am averaging around 400-800 kills, depending on my weapon choice and whether or not i am in the mood to try for my golden ak.

Wow... I just played for about 8 and a half hours. It started with a CAG game before Simon decided to go have a naked Uno party, , and then I jumped into a game with some friends I know personally for a while. Later on, FrankySox joined up and stuck with me the rest of the night. A Happy Panda was along for most of the ride, up till the last couple hours, and Chrono hooked up with us as well.

Franky and I both got our prestiges finally. I'm not sure what level he's at, but I went from 53 to Prestige 1, Level 17, almost 18. This game is more addicting than chocolate chip crack.
Wow right after i dissed simon for playing Vegas 2 i layed down, and went out cold. I missed out on all that COD...dammit!
I was wondering why you were sitting at the dashboard for six hours. I did see you went fifth prestiege though. Congrats on catching up! haha

Just got done playing with some CAGs and realized that not playing for a couple of weeks made me rusty as hell. < 1.00 K/D ratio? *hangs head in shame*

It's alright, don't worry about it.

We still ended up 2-0 while I was there.

I wonder if it my noob setup? I'm using the M16 with the red dot / stopping power / martydom. I always try to use a weapon with a high damage ratio because I tend to get more torso shots than head shots.

Also I don't always get to play with my headset depending on if my little one is sleeping nearby or not.

Jeez, am I the only CAG who didn't go Prestige? I wonder if I should have actually gone Prestige back in January.

Sorry! I didn't name a lot of people. You brought the smoking hot man live.

I still need to send you a friend request. Did you get this year's Smackdown game by any chance? That was fun playing 2007 with you and Scorch.

So I started campaign again, this time at Veteran. Holy crap... I just did the sniper mission and am now stuck at the ferris wheel. This is frickin' driving me insane.

I've notice that picking off guys as they're dropping from the heli's is helpful, I still end up getting wasted every time. Ugh....

Try going in the bumper cars area. As far as I know they don't kill the crippled guy no matter how close they get to him. They'll start running towards him while you pick them off from the back. Later they'll realize where you are, then you can get cover from the bumper cars.

Go behind the bumper car area. Set up claymores all over the place there, and some by the ferris wheel. I cant remember if you get C4 aswell, but if you do put it in the bumper car place. Dont even worry about the other guy, I dont believe he can die. Try and pick up the guns from the initial guys you kill because you will be using alot of ammo. Like you said, taking out the guys dropping from the heli's before they hit the ground helps alot aswell.

I fucking HATE that ferris wheel part!! I wish all those videos and tips were readily available when I played the level!

ARGHHHHH!

I struggled with that one as well. There's a great vid on youtube from I think "next gen walkthroughs" or something close to that (he does quite a few walkthroughs. It takes a few tries, but camping at the bumper cars then sniping through the tree works pretty well.

Thanks again for the multi advice. Definitely the challenges are the way to go. Shooting the heli and falling 30 feet+ can really rack up some XPs.

EDIT: got beat on that one.

I found this part quite easy actually...beat it on my second try with no guides. It's actually quite simple so try this:
There should be two booths; one on the left and one on the right from where you drop off the injured fella. Go in the one on the left of the direction he's facing and plant all the C4s around that booth, particularily the entrance to it. Then all you do is wait for them to come, pick off as many of them as you can, then when you notice they're hitting you like crazy just lie down prone in the booth facing the entrance and if they manage to get any nades inside the booth just huck em out. (I bet it would even work if you just placed the C4s and lied down right away lol). I actually only died once on this one shot one kill level on veteran...but I think I got lucky at the car/bus part when I sprinted across lol. I should make a guide for this if I knew how...it worked flawlessly both times actually the first time I had 1 minute left or something and I just missed the chance to throw a grenade they got in the booth.

I did this and it was so crazy cause I killed like noone and had 6-8 nade markers often around my position lol.

I found veteran to be ok UNTIL I got to No fighting in the war room. Had to look at how someone else did it cause that was just insane...particularily the room that comes up after you go down the two flights of stairs.

and now mile high club is being a pain...I can get up the flight of stairs to the last hallway but then I always get taken out there...grr

Flash that hallway as soon as you walk through the double doorway. Shoot the guy behind the seats to the left (he doesnt seem to get flashed) and run passed the rest of them, then there are two guys around the corner at the end of the hallway, either kill them quickly (they have shotguns) or you can try and run past them.

I never said that. I never said jack shit. He is just making shit up to rile you guys up. Anyone here who fell for his deception is ignorant. There are a mix of guys here on CAG, some of which are downright crazy good at COD4, and far better at it than me. I can never find a group to play with anymore (including CAGs) so I don't play as much. I'll play when I have people to play with, but I'm sick of playing with randoms and carrying the team. When I do find and play with CAGs, it's usually DCriminal, Khondor, Wet Ninja, and their crew and it's tons of fun. I've also played with Zewone and he is painfully good at COD4. I do appreciate the people who insulted me though. Classy guys!

Also, thanks for the compliment Wet Ninja.

Hey man, i wasn't dissing you man, i just found it interesting that he quoted you on that. I am not saying i am above average either mind you.

If you're not above average what does that make me? The skill equivalency of a two year old?

You're both rediculously good. There I said it.
I hated that part, too! I used this guys tactic to pass it:

Damnit. I was stuck here on hardened and that still didn't help. I go to that spot and eventually get bum rushed with people coming across the bumper cars and circling around back. :bomb:

I can lay down in the ticket both and stay alive sometimes, but then I die in like 2 seconds when I try to make a run to pick up McMillan. :bomb:

be careful when you run and pick him out. I waited like 1 minute after they arrived, shot as many as I could to clear the path, then just ran and picked him up.
I don't see how the ticket booth doesn't work...I've done it 3 times now and not once have I not won or at least gotten to the point where you pick up the millan.
Maybe hardened is different than veteran though in terms of where the enemies rush or something lol

I'm half convinced the new maps are going to be released this week to not only maintain dominance over Halo 3, but to keep would-be interested folks like myself who want to play Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 submerged in COD 4 goodness.

Damn you Infinity Ward. Take my $10.

woo just beat mile high club. In total I probably spent like freaking 1.5 hours and 50 tries on the level though...
I looked at a guide for the last room/hallway and copied his motions, but I came up with a faster way to do the first part since I found out what I really needed was a bit more time in the end. What I did was pistol the first guy at the very beginning, then quickly throw
a flashbang in that one door area, then I just ran right through and hid behind the seats before the copter had the hullbreach and I still had 45 seconds left. So that made it a lot easier from there on.
