Call of Duty Black OPS
oh no my life is over 15 prestige. I took me forever to hit 10th prestiege on mw2. Oh this is not good news.
The level cap is only at 50 this time around though... So I would be willing to bet that not having to go an extra 20 levels 10 times will be equal to going 50 levels 5 times.

Plus with challenges and stuff they should go by quick still.

Yeah, I don't think these hacks exist online. Only private, or offline. I don't think we'll see anything (or at least nothing we're used to seeing) for a while.

Now, assuming I don't get my ass handed to me, all should be well!
I didn't realize the servers finally went live? When did that happen?
A couple of days ago. There's going to be a stat reset sometime before launch though. I also read it's pretty easy to level up this time around. In some videos I've been watching, people are already level 30-40+.

Also, now that you got a team you play with regularly, we should have a rematch from our COD4 days. ;)

Not to mention that in that hour long Gamespot video, that Activision player went from (I think 1?) to 9, in about an hour, including wager matches. Not to mention contracts, and challenges!

Been trying to move along as much as possible in Fallout because once this is released everything else goes on hold for usually a month or more.

I checked out all the MP maps the other night on my friends 360. It's banned off Live and he only had one controller so it was just like exploring the maps lol. Didn't try SP.... Glad to hear leveling is easier but I REALLLLLLLY hope they do a server reset. I know some got leaked like the one I could've bought for $125 but most online are hackers.

I'm not gonna be able to play till wednesday afternoon maybe a little tuesday. :(

Edit: someone just sent me this lol Gamestop robbed of cash and 100 CoD

Heh, I can get to level 9 in a match or two.

Already got it :p

Its just another COD game :(

I was actually hoping unlocking stuff would take as long as MW2 did. I don't like that you can unlock things so fast. I know you have to purchase stuff but still.

The guns are still level locked.

Played MW2 hopefully for the last time with Black Ops coming out. Here's a pic of my final stats.

Over a month of playtime? Lawd, man.
825 hours of play? Jesus. Have you ever played any game even close to that?
Only Halo 2. Probably played that longer over the years.

It is a lot, but being laid off allowed me to play a lot. I had the most playtime out of my group, but the other guys had 20-30 days played as well. I know MVP has a similar amount of time played too going back to us talking about it in the MW2 thread.

People not really into multiplayer gaming wouldn't understand.

In regards to the win streak, it's legit. I did dashboard if people were cheating/hacking or whatever, but I don't consider that a loss. When I have close to 6000 wins and under 500 losses, is that really that hard to believe? Other people I play with that only play when we have a team or don't play FFA like I did have even higher win streaks and win ratios.

I thought you had to unlock the ability to purchase guns. As in, you hit level 5 and unlock a gun, but you still have to spend CP to use it. Is that correct?
I can vouch for Trak's stats. I was there for a bunch of those wins.
I was there for about 200 straight? Can't remember.

Indeed. I've never understood how people can pour so much time into one game. Be it competitive MP or MMORPGs etc.

Nothing wrong with it at all, as all that matters with gaming is having fun!

I just get sick of games pretty quickly. I've never put more than 70-80 hours into a game tops. I think I only have five games I've gone over 60 hours on--Oblivion, CoD4, Fallout 3, Halo Reach, Mass Effect 2.

Yeah. Just using an example, let's say the AK-47 is unlocked at level 40. You can then buy it with 1000 CP or whatever. Outside of the default classes, you can choose whichever guns available at the start to unlock. The final gun for each class doesn't unlock until you've purchased every other gun in that class.

As far as I know, that's how it works.

Exactly how it works. All weapon attachments are unlocked and purchase-able as soon as you buy that weapon, too. (for that weapon, that is)

Camoflauge, not entirely sure. I think you unlock that feature by level, but you get access to all of them once you reach that level. (there's also at least one classified camo, requiring all other camos to be bought..VERY expensive)

Face camo, unlocks at 31 I believe. Same dealy.

Weapons still unlock in the order they are on the weapons lists (AKA, M16 [starter]) then Enfield at lvl 6, so on), but by level.

All killstreaks and perks can be purchased once that particular category is unlocked, so you can use what you want, when you want, as long as you can afford it.

Nothing wrong with those stats. When I was addicted to Socom 2 back in the day I put alot of time in aswell. Of course they often reset stats to counter rankups so I never got a total but it was alot.
What if you prestige, what stays unlocked, and do you have to buy the stuff again?
I remember them saying everything you have unlocked when you prestige stays unlocked.
What if you prestige, what stays unlocked, and do you have to buy the stuff again?
I'm fairly certain that everything gets wiped minus emblems and maybe a couple other things (namely, the custom artsy stuff). You get the usual Prestige benefits though, and (I think) a little bit of CoD Points to start off with, afterwards.

I thought that they said only thing that rolls over when you prestige are the titles...it was one of the videos from the makers saying you would have to rebuy the guns.

I myself have 1500 hours in TF2.

I have a lot of hours on TF2 as well, I played it a lot a couple years ago. I don't like what they've done to it now, all microtransactions and bullshit like that.

I've put a lot of time in Gears 2 as well, I played on release and still play it, I was a gold triple star on the first ranking system and I'm lvl 95 on the new ranking system.

Aside from all the modding talk I'm finding about Black Ops I'm still real excited, I miss having a good shooter.

If nothing else... get a bunch of reliable people together on your friend list (and their friend lists), and play private, or bot matches. :D - I personally intend on spending lots of time in bot matches. I've seen some CT gameplay and they look pretty decent.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm blind.

Edit 2: Oh geeze. Black Ops stolen at gun-point

What is the best in-store deal (that is having a midnight opening)? Anyone know what Best Buy, WalMart, Toys R Us and Gamestop are offering?

Have it pre-ordered on Amazon but kinda wanna pick it up tomorrow at midnight.

The CAG Clan tag I made for CoD is ready for new members. I have 31 spots open. It's now CAG CoD Clan (formerly CAG CoD MW2). Just send a friend request to that gamertag and I'll accept you. Anyone currently on the list doesn't have to do anything it's auto updated for you.

TRU doesn't do midnights. I don't think Walmart is giving away anything in store and neither is Gamestop. Not for sure if you get the bonus Reward Zone points at Best Buy without a preorder.

If you have release day shipping on Amazon I would just wait for that.

Hmm purely recreational clan right? Don't want to worry about "clan matches" and the like. Not a big fan of hardcore competitive gaming myself.

Okay. Toys R Us by me is doing a midnight release... I know TRU is giving away a t-shirt, and I do believe that they also have a deal this week where if you buy a $59.99 game, you get a $20 gift card but not sure if this applies to Black Ops... although I'm not totally sure why it wouldn't.

For everyone's info, here is a master list of midnight launches for Black Ops... just type in your zip code: http://callofduty.com/locator/?path=locator/&path=locator/&path=locator/
Well, after reading some posts from people who have the game, it seems like there is already a care package glitch, super speed lobbies, and 15th prestige lobbies.

Gotta love no public beta.

Here's the 15 prestige emblems.

It applies. It's just any game $59.99 or up and you get the GC.

Yes it has no professional connection, but the level of player on there varies greatly. Basically it's just a way to find other CAG's to play with. Some just play for kicks, some go for the win, it varies.

Wow, my bad. Never heard of TRU doing a midnight launch for anything before.

Someone is streaming MP on Justin.tv right now. Just go to gaming and look for the one with all the viewers lol i'm ready for tuesday afternoon!

I was watching a really great quality stream on and off Saturday night. The guy went for like 8 hours straight apparently before he got shut down. Game is looking great. The only issue I'm hearing anything definitive on is that the spawns can get really fucked up. Not too worried, though. Treyarch was good about fixing that in WaW.

Also, the Game Informer review is out there. 9/10.

Spoiler free summaries:

For my money, Treyarch has crafted the finest Call of Duty multiplayer game to date. The maps are fantastic and offer great variety in size, aesthetics, verticality, and paths. The core design is largely unchanged. It features the same modes, perks and a similar arsenal to Modern Warfare. The action is as responsive, technically impressive, and engrossing as it has ever been since Infinity Ward pioneered it three years ago. However, Treyarch has made a ton of improvements in the margins. Unlocking new perks in the order you want rather than a pre set sequence is just the start.
It's tough to hate on something as skillfully executed as Black Ops. Call of Duty remains the smoothest, most approachable first person shooter out there, and I had a blast playing it. On the other hand, it's disappointing that Treyarch's much hyped huge budget entry in the franchise feels like Modern Warfare 2.5. Activision hasn't Tony Hawked Call of Duty yet, though, and I'm happy to get a refined update. This year anyway.
