Call of Duty Black OPS

Today is a little bullshitty, I have played 4 rounds with 3 people on each team. These were games in which I was put in from the main menu...it also never added anyone after us.

Ugh...finally getting around to playing this and already pretty close to putting it down. I breezed through the start of the campaign, but the end of Executive Order on Veteran is total nonsense. After Googling, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that part is bullshit. You would think developers would learn by now that people hate dealing infinitely spawning enemies, especially in dark, tight, corridors.

Well I was just about to post to ask about the campaign, but I guess this kind of sums it up. I usually just end up playing through the campaign in CoD games as I'd prefer to not have to deal with the constant streams of childish chatter on XBL. Which sucks, since I used to be a big Battlefield player on PC and loved the multiplayer part of it.

Anyway, I've been putting off buying Black Ops since I know that I won't really do the multiplayer part of it. I'm feeling the draw to play the campaign though.
anyone want to add me as a friend. I'm sick of playing with randoms. I just play team deathmatch usually
Yes, me, too.

Anyone who wants to play deathmatch, please PM me or add me to your friends list (see my sig for gamertag). I'm decent at worst - my KD ratio is around 1.47, so I shouldn't weigh you down.

Same with me. I rarely get into the CoD MP, but I love the campaigns. I have beat CoD2, MW, WaW, and MW2 all on Veteran without much problem. WaW had its moments, once again with the infinitely spawning enemies, but it wasn't too bad. This, though, is just nuts. I feel like I have completely hit a wall. But like I said, I'm just glad I'm not the only one. I have read in various places about people who played the same part for hours and just gave up or broke down and lowered the difficulty.

HA! Yeah the SP in this game on vet is the cheapest of all the CODs. Some of those parts were just brutal. I am glad I got through it and never have to play it again on that level. Just thinking of some of those moments were I would die, reload, run left, die reload, run right, die reload, stay still, die, reload, do the running man, die and reload.

Also, I have fallen back in love with the MP and its called, Barebones MP modes. Far less bullshit and random things going on. So much more fun.

I honestly thought it was the second worst Vet experience, second only to WAW. At least this didn't have infinite grenades. I remember in the last level of WAW (I think it was Downfall), when you got inside the Reichstag, I was literally throwing away 3 grenades every 5 seconds WHILE dodging infinitely spawning enemies.

QFT x 1000. The only thing more brutal than WaW's campaign for me was CoD4's High Mile Club achievement and I haven't even delved into BO's Veteran yet but can already think of 4 - 5 parts where I'm going to have a punching bag on stand by to vent all my frustration into pronto. I still have nightmares of the bunker mission where you free the POWs to help you assault the final area. I lost count of how many times I died to random grenades spawning under me while diving to prone on Hardcore. Not looking forward to the helicopter mission either.

I got the High Mile cheesemint within 5 tries after looking at a youtube video. I chalk it up to a little bit of luck.

Yep. Mile High Club wasn't that difficult.
Pretty fucking epic IMO.
Thanks :D

And I can kinda see what they went for with the infinite spawning enemies in some areas, in the MW games there were segments were you just had to pop out and shoot an enemy every once in a while, and when they were all dead you were free to rinse and repeat.

I guess they wanted to give the player some challenge by forcing them to move on.

That's in theory though, trust me I don't like it anymore than you guys do :bomb:

So, I finally got past the pain in the ass part in Executive Order on Veteran. If anyone else still hasn't tackled the campaign on Veteran, here is my tip. Don't follow a lot of the videos you see on YouTube. All of them kept telling me to go through the lockeroom. I kept trying, but I would keep dying. Finally, I just decided to give the rest of the hallway a try, and I got a checkpoint. Oh, also, despite what just about everyone said and my own personal taste, the shotgun was really useful here. The range is pretty unrealistic, so you can take guys out from pretty far. And the spread is pretty nuts. Thus, it's the perfect weapon for running and gunning. You really don't need to aim it well at all, perfect for when you're running right into a group of baddies.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but whats with peoples' playercard pics being changed to some clover/leaf with two..stars? to the right of it?

Three bars off-host (me) Vs. four bars host - I win. A pretty disgusting display to say the very least.

Between the breath mechanic and the net code I can't say I'm looking forward to being on the receiving end come next update, but I couldn't resist testing the possibilities of how bad it could get. Toying around with RC also made me realize how much of revenge and camper killing machine it is. At least there is still a bright side to maining HL besides Blackbird and Counter.

I remember one segment in Modern Warfare where you had to protect Cpt.Price at the end of the level. Oh wow can you say most painful experience ever multiplied 10 fold by veteran difficulty. Not only were there a never ending supply of enemies coming out of the apartment buildings(secret army training HQ?), but they seemed to have an endless supply of grenades to boot. Oh and they also had the magic ability to throw 6 at a time.

In the end just to get to the part where the heli arrives I just hunkered down in the little both to the right of the carousel. Even there I had to be careful so a stray grenade flying into the little booth wouldn't kill me. I remember actually throwing back maybe 10 or more grenades before the heli finally arrived. There were times when I made it through that hell only to get bitten by a dog and then shot to death right at the very end. The rage that ensued later wasn't pretty lol.

Just hit 3rd prestige. Highest ive seen so far was 5th prestige. Ive seen a few 4s too. I think im going to give this game a break, and finally play AC: Brotherhood. (well i said that last time i hit 2nd prestige) I do really like the game. Its a solid game, love most of the maps, just annoying with the lag sometimes. But ive dealt with worse.... Gears 2. LOL. So ill definetly be coming back for more asap. Oh and my favorite gun is the M16 with silencer. I do so much damage with it in hardcore TDM.

That mission was the most excruciating for me. Took me no telling how many tries to get through the hall after the computer server room and hitting the checkpoint. You're right though, the youtube videos were of no help. Seemed like every time I played it was always random the number of enemies in the computer room and in the hall.

First, this dude is shooting at someone else, then I threw my semtex at him which sticks on the wall, explodes and gets me a hit marker.

Of course the guys survives because he jumps laterally away, which is obviously faster to flee from explosions than sprinting.

Knowing this, I shoot him some more in his face with my AK, and as he goes into last stand he stabs me and I die.

Me: Semtex and AK bullets in his face

Him: Knife

I lose.

Not pictured: His team mate coming down stairs to revive him.

After that, I go to knife this guy who is running in a straight line towards me, I of course teleport through him and he is unscathed, then I get shot by someone and naturally disappear.

. That was RIDONCULOUS!

Just got this game yesterday and immediately put a couple of hours into multiplayer. I do surprisingly well with great K/D ratios in TDM, but going lonewolf in HQ and Domination is difficult as hell. Not many of my friends who I played MW2 with have made the transition to Black Ops.

I just unlocked the FAMAS and fell in love, I miss how it was a 3-round burst, though.

Claymores need to kill the planter if its detonated within a certain time frame of planting or proximity. I am really sick of free kills when people spaz out when caught trying to plant one.
Another random WTF BlackOps clip.

i sub to Mr.Dunkus aka Matt. Him and the crew he runs with (HUPiT gaming) or Hupit.com are pretty sick nasty.

A-fucking-men to that.

I ghetto-rigged a connection tonight by putting my computer and Xbox in the living room, and was actually able to play BO for about 3 hours. It lagged every now and then (And ridiculously, there were 7 games where it actually made me host), but the rest of the time I had a good connection and all was well.

I've found a new love in Hardcore Free For All. Was having so much fun playing that. Honestly, I was just glad that I could play without the shit cutting out. Thank god for being able to bridge network connections so I could get on Live.

Had this happen during a match of Sticks and Stones. This kind of shit never happens to me, so I felt I needed to Theater it.

That video reminds me: Why exactly do they have your soldier say shit like "Get a medic over here!" when you kill somebody? Is that a bug, or what?

I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on this) that the whole clover leaf symbol with the stars is what your Playercard gets changed to when it's too offensive and Treyarch changes it.

I get the feeling people have started changing their Playercard to that symbol anyway to make people think they had a ridonkadonk-obscene icon.

Agreed.

So yeah, IMO, there needs to be a better/bigger head shot multiplier:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd2iUFhCeH4

According to the gun stats, yeah, three headshots is required (with certain guns, such as the Aug and Famas) to kill an uninjured person-or three body shots, or two body shots plus a headshot.

That, or take away the damn headshot ping so I don't shit bricks every time I get that noise but no kill.

I kinda miss stopping power now.

Got a quintuple (5) grenade kill, but didn't make a clip out of it. Might in the near future. It was glorious, though, earning all 3 of my killstreaks in about two seconds (5 kills + 6th that survived was gunned down).

Haven't made any new clips, though. Game's been pretty good to me, though, I admit. Besides when it makes me host out of nowhere, then kicks me because my connection can't handle 12 or 18 people. I have NO IDEA why it does this. It then changes hosts and my party continues playing, but without me.

Should I close all of the ports so my NAT is considered "closed", so this doesn't happen?

Saw this on the FAQ page when I tried looking for help as to why the fuck it's impossible to post on the COD message boards.

Why is there lag when I play online?
game-help-question-divider.png
Playing online involves having your console or PC send packets of data through multiple servers, hubs and backbones to reach its destination server. Your Internet Service Provider may sometime have equipment fail somewhere, and sections of the network go entirely offline. Other times connections have to be re-routed due to power failures or natural disasters, and as a result your connection time (and game performance) suffers.

Hilarious.

Oh and yeah I've lost count how many times I've said "I just shot this dude in the head, heard the head shot ping, and got no kills." It's ridiculous. Meanwhile some asshole sprays my shins and heals with an MP5 and gets a head shot on me. This game is a sick joke. What's the point of having head shots when it still takes 3 shots anywhere anyway?

As far as the knife goes, it seems to me that the knife kill range is basically your whole left side of your screen due to the knife being held in the player's left hand and being a left to right slash, which might explain why people get kills when they aren't aiming at anyone but an enemy is off to the left side of them. They need to make the goddamn knife kill what's in front of you and what your cross hair is on and nothing else, not this bullshit panic knifing through a wall on an enemy you can't see.

I realize now why previous Call of Dutys have included the stopping power perk, it was a deterrent to having Ghost on all the time. Nowadays I see more and more people with the Ghost perk on and I mean why not.

Why not have the incredible power to become invisible to your opponents radar, why not make Spy planes, chopper gunners, and gunships completely and utterly useless. I only listed those 3 because they have the largest amount of value on the battlefield. But in reality almost all killstreaks are rendered useless because of Ghost.

Which brings me to my next point, since there are more Ghost users then therefore there are going to be different killstreaks in play. The BlackBird is a force to be reckoned with just for the simple fact that Ghost and Ghost Pro users show up on it. On the Black Ops battlefield always aim for that BlackBird always. Since Spy planes wont show anything either consider switching to the RC-XD, a guaranteed kill and a useful recon device. Finally we have the attack dogs which are pretty devastating and I dont think they are effected by Ghost Pro wearing users.

Once more and more Ghost Pro users start showing up consider running these set ups. I think personally 3Arch should have kept stopping power in, cause having one without the other isn't so great either. If you dont agree with this, keep in mind this is all IMHO.

Someone please explain to me what the appeal of camping is. I keep bringing this up, but I just can't wrap my head around it. In Hardcore FFA, I was playing against 5 "SYJB" clan members who spent the match jumping around with eachother in the back of the map and camping. Literally, there were 2 people who spent 2 entire matches in one spot, with their motion sensor on. Is that fun? Really?

I know, i dont know how people can sit in a spot and camp for a long time. It bores me to death. I will camp in certain situations, but for the most part i walk around and try to find people to kill. Most of the time i end up with more kills than people on my team that camp.

I've told my friends this and i'll tell you all the same, make a map like nuketown and only allow 1 gun. No perks, classes, attachments, killstreaks or anything else. Close the map off to where it's a square off (kinda like griff ball in halo 3) and let everyone go at it..run & gun style. People camp and I still kill them. The game is good, but at the same time it's kind of a joke due to the lag, hit detection, spawn points, etc. Another game type to go into that is better would be Barebones Classic. No attachments or anything, but you get 3, 5, 7 killstreaks and that's it. Alot better than regular tdm.

I love wager matches. I just had the best game of Gun Game. I was losing the entire game, with other players in the 17-19 range and I was around 15. I said F it and just started to stab people. I ended up with 11 stabs and won the game. Everyone must have been pissed at me.
