Call of Duty Black OPS

I think that's just lag from more people playing now with the new maps and the double xp event.

The game has always had lag issues, but as several have noted above it was much worse than usual this weekend.

It's probably just that I've only played it once and the match on there was teeerrible. The map has a lot of turns, hallways and windows for people to catch me off-guard, so I kept getting shot in the back which started to aggravate the shit out of me.

Double XP was some good fun, made a bunch of buds playing Hardcore Team Deathmatch as well. Heading into a public game and having EVERYONE actually be nice and working together is a godsend. Wish they'd do more double XP events.

I went from prestige 8 level 43 to prestige 9 level 46 during the double xp weekend. Wish i could have made it to 10th prestige. Grinding my way to 50 with 1xp is going to be annoying now until i get used to it again. I wish there was a faster way to rank up. I mainly play hardcore TDM, but ive tried other games types and i generally dont get much more xp than i do in hardcore TDM. Sometimes i do in the first few games because im unlocking challenges, but it doesnt seem to last long before it goes back to normal xp averages.

Ah that makes sense. I think double xp also means double douchers who like to camp or just throw random nades and place random claymores. Don;t get me wrong, I'm the idiot who ran straight into them like a chump, but it got annoying after the third game or so lol.
 
Really enjoy the new maps...Berlin can be a hit or miss. If one team camps out and snipes on the buildings, its boring, but if people are running around, it can be quite fun.

Kowloon is definitely my favorite...awesome work on that map, love the layout, the design, and watching the plane at the beginning countdown is pretty damn sweet.

main problem of Black Ops. The net connection is horrendous. if you are not host or not running 4 bar, you are already at somewhat of a disadvantage.

that i have no clue. I would think if everyone elses connection is fluctuating and your still running a clean 4 bar. you may be host or the game just makes you start your lobby.
 
It's pretty easy to know if you're host. As soon as you choose your class, if the countdown starts at 13 or 14 seconds, you're hosting (assuming you don't take forever to choose your class). Also, you'll be the first arrow on your team's radar, and the rest of the green arrows will slowly fill in as the time counts down. You can also hit the back button as soon as you enter the game and you'll see your name with a perfect green connection, while everyone else's connections will be all over the place.

My counter always shows around 3 or 4 seconds after i pick my class. Its really supposed to show 13-14 if you are host? Does the host change game by game, or does one person get host until they leave?

Edit i just got a 7-8 seconds, but it didnt look like i was host.

One person gets host until they leave usually.

They really should just do dedicated servers. Not like it'll ever happen, but they should.
 
From my experience, I usually get host for a few games in a row, then it tends to switch to someone else. Here's a quick video showing what host looks like:

Yeah, I was bored. Notice the yellow arrow first and all the green arrows popping up as time passes. Also, you can see the text on the left saying each person that connects to you.
 
The new maps are great, but it's making me angry for some reason. It's like the game's community was split in half, and although the other half isn't fantastic, this new half is even f****g worse. I saw some 6th prestige kid who has 8 days total and started complaining about how he beat a completely awful team.

I might just delete the maps to not face all these high level elitists.
 
Yeah, the game seems to have skewed toward "asshole" since the map pack's release.

I'm thinking about just taking a break from the game for a month or so, until things get better.
 
I just started to really use the AUG and im liking it a lot. I use it with a red dot and slight of hand. Usually i never use a gun without a silencer, because i think it gives my position away and i do worse, but tonight i have been doing really good with it. Sometimes it feels like im slicing butter with a hot knife when in close combat. LOL

Has anyone else notice there is a little glitch when reviving teammates? Sometimes when i revive someone, after the revive is over, my guy brings out the 2nd weapon... which is my launcher right now. Its kind of weird.
 
Since the map pack has come out we have been encountering a much higher rate of people/teams using Ghost. I can only assume it was because of people's fears of unfamiliarity with the new maps and being found with UAVs. Until my current prestige I pretty much exclusively used Scavenger or Flak Jacket (for grenade spammers).

Also, FYI I found out a month or two ago that decoy grenades will show fake enemy arrows for an SR-71 as well.

I've never experienced that and I've revived my fair share of teammates. The thing that bothers me is that the "X" button is used for "actions" and so often even though I have the revive teammate prompt I will inadvertently pick up a random weapon that may be near the enemy needing a revive. Same thing happens with bomb planting/defusing. I'm thinking there should also be a perk that allows quicker revival with Pro (maybe when both parties have Last Stand Pro or the reviver has Sleight of Hand Pro) because I've probably been killed half the times I've revived someone.
 
I've had my fair share of moments where I go to revive someone, thinking it's completely clear, and give a camper/lucky bastard 2 kills. It's unfortunate, but it's the risk you take I guess.

I'm stiiiiill trying to get Hacker Pro. Haven't been getting any luck with claymores/motion sensor, I usually just end up getting shot in the back. I find it ironic that I'm not any good at camping, I might have to start using Ghost.

At some point in the future, I need to get a new TV. I have a 32" HDTV, but the damn thing has an 8ms response time, and the recommended response time for gaming is 4ms. The half-second delay is blatantly obvious and makes playing the game frustrating, as I end up shooting all around the guy and not at him. Not really an excuse, but it's definitely a disadvantage.
 
For Hacker Pro, when using Claymores, I find it easier to just randomly place them and go somewhere else. I always seemed to get more kills doing that than strategically placing them where campers would go.

Also, use the Jammer over the Motion Sensor. Since you have hacker, go find a claymore or motionsensor. Chances are, whoever set that Claymore is camping near it. Place the jammer, which will disable the claymore or sensor, and kill the guy quickly before he realizes he is jammed.
 
Never thought I'd say this not even a week after getting the maps, but I'm starting to get a little burnt out with COD. Maybe I'll go back to MW2 for a bit, pick up Killzone 3, sell it, I don't know. Whatever I decide to do, it's all about SOCOM 4 when April 19th rolls around anyway. Maybe between this and KZ3 I can cope until then.
 
Doesn't Mortal Kombat come out on April 19th as well? I thought that date sounded familiar.

I was going to play Black Ops, but then I started watched Crips and Bloods: Made In America. I found that hilarious for some reason.

Anyone else play this game just to play? I don't care about K/D ratio, I don't care about my wins/losses, and I don't get frustrated at the game. I just...play to have fun. Sure, the game can get frustrating, but it's all good.
 
I just started to use the RCXD, and lately ive been killing my own team with it because for whatever reason their names dont show up on the screen. So i went back to spy plane. :/
 
I ended up blowing you up once with an RCXD on Firing Range, 7th, since the names don't pop up right away or at all. Made for a whole lot of teamkilling sometimes, but I've used the RCXD almost 700 (over 700?) times now.
 
Anyone want to work on the zombie achievements? I seem to either get matched up with crappy players or better players that back out. Maybe we can get a group of 4 together and knock out the achievements. I have the map packs as well so we could do ascension
 
I'll admit I only use ghost pro, because it seems like no one on my team shoot down anything out of the air. Annoying as shit. If you're going to use ghost, and you're over level 30, bring a Strela.

He says he doesn't get frustrated, then two sentences later goes onto to call it frustrating. I just found that funny/confusing.

What I meant was that I never actually get pissed off when I get killed, but there ARE moments that can get a little irritating like getting shot in the back, lag, etc. Get what I'm sayin?

What's everyone's favorite gun to use? I've started to use the Galil a bit more lately and it's pretty damn good. I've found that in certain situations the gun I'm using has barely any recoil and then sometimes it's all over the place. Maybe that has to do with how far away the guy i'm shooting is? I have no idea.

Galil is easy to use since it has almost no recoil but I noticed that in close quarters situations it was difficult for me to be quick enough to kill with it. Great for long distance though. Famas is similar as well.

I may be in the minority but I love the enfield with a red dot sometimes with a suppressor depending on the type of competition. Can't explain it but it works for me. I use it as soon as I unlock it for the whole prestige. Only takes around 2-3 maps to unlock it.

I also love running around Summit and especially Nuketown with a silenced Spas, with Flak, Sleight of Hand and Marathon. It's pretty fun to run through claymores and shotgunning people in the back camping in the windows. Then dodging bullets and running back to the other building to do it again.

Been trying out the FN Fal with a red dot as it's only a 2 shot kill on the bigger maps. Usually it leads to frustration being killed close quarters and I switch back to the enfield.
 
Ive been playing hardcore headquarters lately, its pretty fun if you are the team winning. If im on a losing team its just frustrating. Its pretty good with XP also. I just played a game where we dominated, mainly because our best player went something crazy like 86 - 5. Everyone backed out on the other team except these split screeners, one had like 46 deaths. Man!
 
I haven't been playing much lately cuz of work, but tonight, holy fuck.

Every other game is like a 1 second delay if it's not a connection interrupted every 10 seconds, and I end up shooting someone, connection interrupted, I somehow die while the connection is interrupted. It's just horrible tonight.
 
Man i just played headquarters on nuketown and wow, its like the most chaotic thing i ever played. You die, spawn in the same backyard, kill, die, repeat. I ended up with 49 kills the first game. Thats the most kills i ever got. Then we voted nuketown again and i ended up getting kicked. LOL Damn i was mad, it was almost over too.

as i've been saying time and time and time again. Spectre Extended Mags with either Silencer or Grip. Its such a beast SMG and no one still gives a shot. I get so many doubles with this bad boy.

I did start to use MPL silenced with Dual Mag and that is a beasty gun also.

M60 Extended Mags with Grip.....you will never out of bullets.

Galil Silenced and Famas Dual Mag round out what i use.

Wow i just got it again 30 minutes later..... i hope this doesnt continue. Really havent had any problems with this and im on 10th prestige, not till today.

Coool, got one game in and then it decides to disconnect me again. WTF!

Hmmm, i reset my modem, and so far for the hour i played it hasnt done it. *Crosses fingers*

I have been having this problem the past few days or so, I don't know what the fuck is going on....
 
I just got killed by the most ridiculous bullshit I've ever seen in this game and was going to share the clip, but I can't render anything for some reason. Basically I spawned, walked out from behind the corner I spawned in, and a guy on my team was standing there like 40 feet in front of me and bullets somehow went through him as he was getting shot at and killed me as well. It wasn't in a straight line.. I don't know it's hard to explain, but it was fucking bullshit. Needless to say I'm putting this shit down for a while. fuck that.

I have as well... I notice that when you go into MP > Xbox Live it says "connecting" for a long time then when I finally enter the lobby it doesn't show my stats for a bit. Thursday night I was dropped 3 times.
 
Should've went into Private Match to check em out beforehand. They're pretty bad. :/

I need to play Black Ops more, lately I've been playing MvC2 in preparation for MvC3 and Bad Company 2 and all that. Also, now that I've been playing so much Hardcore, I can't get used to Core for the life of me.

So, I encountered some bullshit I've never seen before today. I was playing Domination and some guy shot me in the back and upon respawn (in a corner across the map mind you) I was immediately killed by the same guy knifing me. I saved the match to take a closer look and apparently there is some glitch where you can knife a recently killed enemy's dead body and immediately kill them as they respawn. It's basically like the knife goes through your dead body. I watched the whole match following this guy and he does it to every dead enemy body he is close to. I have made a clip as evidence to show you guys the CHEATER:
