Chris Benoit kills wife, 7 year old son and then self.
Yeah, that was what I was saying earlier. It was nothing like Owen or Eddie. He almost had a look of disgust on his face.
Why would Regal have commented at all, then, if he were truly aware of what happened?
Well after i found out what this dude looks like, i find his rhetoric even more hilarious.
I thought Jim Breuer liked pot, not meth.
It feels like William Regal knew something since he wouldn't say anything about Benoit personally and would only refer to him professionally.
Ya. no joke I was thinking the same thing...weird if he knew something.
Why would Regal have commented at all, then, if he were truly aware of what happened?
Maybe it was his way of dealing with it, seperating the wrestler from the man.

Johnny Knoxville.

TMZ has learned more about the deaths of WWE wrestling superstar Chris Benoit, his wife and son -- and the information is extremely disturbing. Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths. The source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time. According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.

Why do you think it's weird that Regal reacted the way he did? He didn't "know something", it's almost kind of obvious when an entire family is found dead.. murder-suicide is the first thing I think about in an instance like that. I just didn't want to jump to it because Chris always seemed like such a nice guy.

//edit: Yeah, I've heard the Saturday/Sunday thing but it doesn't make sense. Nancy's body was laying there for 48 hours? The son didn't think something was up when he didn't see his mom that day? Didn't they say Nancy was found dead in the living room? I imagine that they have more than one TV, but I find it hard to believe that the son didn't notice.

//doubleedit: Finally watching Raw.. hearing Joey Styles talk normal is.. just.. weird. Cena's comments almost made me cry.. almost. It made me forget about what Benoit did for a second and realize that he's gone. I can't be sad in this situation. If it really plays out like it's looking, he's a monster.

That's fucked.

I just want to address this idea that the tribute "shouldn't have happened" now that more details are coming forth.

Regardless of the circumstances, the feelings of Benoit's friends and comrades are very real. These feelings are not made any less valid by the unfortunate revelations that came forth later on.

I believe it's a good thing that the tribute happened... if not for Benoit, then at least for the other workers, and in a more selfish sense, the fans. Now it seems like that will be his last great hurrah before they essentially write him out of WWE history.

That radio guy could not look more like a tool if he came from Home Depot.

At least now I can file his image away in the "punch directly in throat" part of my mind. Granted, if I saw someone that looked like that just out of the blue, that'd be my first instinct regardless.

The reports are out today and not last night. The shows taping tonight ECW / SD! are no longer tribute shows and will be business as usual.

All merchandise was removed on WWEshop.com of Benoit, since promoting a murder, regardless of steroids is not a good thing.

Officially, Dave Meltzer is reporting that both ECW and Smackdown will be broadcast with no wrestling angles, and instead will feature only matches. Wrestlers are not required to participate, and those who would like to perform will be given the opportunity to do so. The plan is for the opening of each show to briefly review what has happened, and to proceed with a program devoted solely to wrestling.

Also, effective immediately, the Vince McMahon storyline is expected to be dropped completely.

This does mean, however, that we'll never see him inducted into the Hall Of Fame. I'm sure it was a good ways off from happening, but now...well, we'll just never see it. Sad too, considering that, as a wrestler, he deserved to be in there. But I just can't see them ever giving that honor to this man.

I know I am pretty much saying guilty before anything has been said, but I do so in light of the fact that they've pretty much removed him completely from their website and everywhere else.

yea i was thinking i would totally get to see his induction next year at mania but i guess thats not happening

Here's a sample of the old "death watch" rumor I mentioned a few pages back. Like I said, it's most likely completely unrelated, but it's definitely still creepy in retrospect.
In the latest PWTorch newsletter, editor Wade Keller states quite bluntly that there is apparently a top wrestler in the WWE today who’s considered to be on an “unofficial death watch”. He doesn’t go on to further elaborate on who this wrestler is, but he does go on to mention how people need to do what it takes to keep him alive, even at the “expense of box office receipts, storyline interruptions” and more.

-- The deathwatch, which is apparently no secret to most within WWE, may have actually been unknown to Vince McMahon, who would clearly need to be informed. The un-named wrestler's death, should he pass away, would be additionally trying on the hearts of fans that are already mourning the passing of Eddie Guerrero.

My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fasioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home.

It's clear that RAW was handled with the possibility that Benoit may have murdered his family -- that's why I think Regal looked disgusted, and would only speak of Benoit professionally.

Interesting set of lyrics from the song they used in the video that opened last night's RAW as well as on Benoit's DVD:

Even though I know
I don’t want to know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds

that is nuts.. which we would get confirmation on what is the final verdict
yea i was thinking i would totally get to see his induction next year at mania but i guess thats not happening
That was one of the first things that came to mind when they showed the opening montage last night.

If this is true, then it's sad to say that Benoit would never get the honor that a wrestler like him deserved and just get lost in the annals of time.

This is all just completely unbelievable. A person just can't put into words how strange and surreal this whole thing is. It's just SAD.

there is no evidence thats been offical to that claim and a highly doubt it but i could be wrong. I'm just going based on whats been reported. I think thats a classic case of fans trying to try to twist things to make it sound better.
also to think.. who would want to live in that fucking house now
Some rich person that doesn't care. The Amityville home was bought and sold numerous times.

weed...
how?? Do you live near him? look my whole point is that Chris Benoit could have a really really nice guy that got mixed up with steroids and abused them to the point where he became so depressed that he did what he supposedly did.. so you are going to let mistakes and weaknesses define the person??
Ted Bundy was a nice guy until he killed.
To be fair, the video clips on Benoit show that he has a NICE house. Very nice.

Now, of course, comes the falsehood: wrestlers make big bucks. It's a half-truth. Like in golf tournaments, the payoffs for top winners (1st through 3rd, maybe 4/5th places too) earn BIG checks.

After that, the dropoff is pretty substantial. So, a Benoit may make enough money for a house like that - but lower mid-card guys probably aren't making very much money at all. 70K is a LOT of money, but not factoring in hotels, planes, and rental cars 3-4 nights per week.
A year back or two he renewed his contract for 900k which was a pay cut for him because when they moved to USA they didn't get the ad revenue like the did on spike.

Which is understandable. Who the fuck would want to think that Chris Benoit killed his wife, let alone one of his own sons?

Anyhow, I really need to tear myself away from this, I've got stuff to do.

I'd rather believe that then Benoit killing both of them.

Forgive me for showing that it's not just one big news site that's reporting the AP article.
Three links, one article. The Assocaited Press really does deliver. You, on the other hand...
i would love to see what those text messages said...

conclusion: benoit is the murderer and we may never know what were his intentions... unless their is a suicide note

Given that this thread will hit 1000 before week's end, but this discussion will likely continue, how do we move on...as a forum, I suppose?

By bad, left out aired. I'm not feeling the greatest today. Jeez.

With another wrestling thread? Perhaps without the typical pomp and circumstance of the original? Could we let this go past 1000? It's been done before, right?

Well, that's different. My mistake.

Sorry, but killing your wife and son does not make you akin to a man that raped and murdered *dozens* of women in Washington and Florida. Is Benoit a murderer? Apparently so. Is he equivalent to one of the US' most notorious serial killers? No.

Holy shit! I just saw this on CNN! I haven't watched WWE in a long time, but I remember Benoit. This is just tragic. At least he could've taken himself out and not his little 6 year old son. I hate hearing when children get involved. They're the innocents. Just too damn tragic.
