Dave Scherer reports that Jim Cornette has agreed to terms with TNA Wrestling and is set to become the new "authority figure".

Cornette has always been able to cut great promos and can sell storylines. This is a great asset to TNA.

Cornette was last seen writing OVW TV but was released after a student from OVW claimed Cornette verbally and physically abused him.

Another New Jack update and some other stuff...

ECW
To follow up on the story we mentioned yesterday on the website about New Jack claiming to have signed a contract with WWE for the new ECW brand at an independent show in Pittsburgh, we can still confirm that nothing has taken place. However, it is possible he could have been contacted by WWE already for the ECW project. It should be noted that New Jack was unable to work last year's One Night Stand PPV as legal issues prevented him from signing a temporary contract for the show so it is possible those problems might still be an issue.

PWInsider reports that Tommy Dreamer has signed a new wrestlers contract with WWE to wrestle in the new ECW. Right now it looks like he will still also continue doing his work at OVW.

Dreamer has been the one calling up all the ECW guys about contracts, and will be in charge of the new ECW alongside Paul Heyman.

WWE
Midwest mini-wrestler Shortstack is scheduled to come to SmackDown soon to play a leprechaun sidekick for Fit Finlay. Shortstack, a veteran of NWA Wisconsin, currently works using the gimmick of "The World's Sexiest Midget", and is believed to be given a Leprechaun gimmick to work as a sidekick to Fit Finlay. Shortstack recently appeared in WWE programming once before in a backstage skit involving Candice Michelle, Gene Snitsky and Goldust that aired on WWE Unlimited a few weeks back.

The following is from Shortstack's My Space page: It hasn't quite hit me yet...So, for those of you who didn't hear about it at all, Monday night I flew down to Cincinatti for Smackdown on Tuesday. They called me up and said that they wanted me to get an outfit/costume and we would go from there (practice promos, pre-tapes, pictures, etc.). I'm not going to go into everything like I have with others, but if you want to know just ask me and I'll tell ya. I get to the arena on Tuesday, eat quick, and immediately am called a "fatty" by Paul London. Anyways the day goes on, a bunch of us talk about a certain indy worker that people who don't even know him, know of him and don't like him, so that was fun. Then the good part...Fit (Finlay) comes up to me and tell me to put my costume on, we are going to meet with Vince, and then do pictures. So I get dressed and we go into Vince's office. The first thing he says to me is "Wow, we definitely need you on board with us." My heart just dropped. Now I was told I could get signed earlier in the day, but now this is coming from the boss himself, so I knew it was a for sure thing. Then he asks me "So are you opposed to cutting your hair?" I think my heart sank more on this question, than the previous. So sadly, I have to get rid of the long, golden locks of mine, and get a hair cut like Finlay's. Damn its going to be short. So in the end, I'm going to be signing on with WWE next week officially. They are going to have a contract ready for me and we'll go from there. As I said before, it hasn't hit me quite yet, but I'm sure it will soon. Thanks to all who have supported me once again!

WWE.com has new Power 25 rankings up. Rounding out the top five this week is John Cena at No. 1, Rob Van Dam at No. 2, Rey Mysterio at No. 3, Edge at No. 4 and Triple H at No. 5.

Hulk Hogan is currently promoting his new Hulk Energy Drink powered by Socko by Bliss Beverages. The marketing firm Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment (Eric Bischoff & Jason Hervey) are behind the drink at this time.

The TNA one was already posted. Who's Shortstack, and why was he upset when Vince said they needed him on board? "my heart dropped" isn't exactly a positive statement, is it?

I think the hair cut was a negative heart drop and the signing was a positive heart drop. (i.e. omg i'm getting signed by the wwe)

From RingsideCollectibles.com
well i guess now we know for sure who's facing RVD at ONS, i thought somebody said it would be Cena??

I think that's RVD's silhouette doing the "Whole fuckin' Show"/"R! V! D!" taunt.

Oh, wait.. the other two are definately Trips.

Well, that's not an official DVD cover.. I don't think?

Actually, it's on Amazon.com.. says it's coming out July 11th, 2006.

OKAY. Final word on it.

Below is an ECW One Night Stand 2 poster made by Adam Dawson. This is NOT the official poster for the event, it was made by Adam Dawson for a graphics battle on the Extreme Warfare Battleground Forums.

So it's not the official poster.

Do any of you remember who Jason Hervey is? He played the older brother Wayne on Wonder Years. During his "prime" he was very public about being a huge wrestling fan. He was also dating Missy Hyatt when she was still working for WCW. I don't care what else he does, he'll always be the kid that was always picking on Kevin.

I think the mention of "The Eliminators" on the poster is pretty much the only giveaway that it's a phony. Not to mention, of course, that, with turning Triple H face (or at least making him a more comical character), that it'd be harder to get him booed at ONS, whether or not it's an ECW show. One thing nobody can argue is that the easiest thing on the show will be John Cena getting heat.

I have an old ECW video (Big Ass Extreme Bash) where Rick "Big Titan" Bogner wrestled a match (you may remember him as the flabby fake Razor Ramon). He received a rousing round of "Don't Come Back!!!" chants from the Philly crowd. I somehow picture them getting far more hateful towards Cena.

At the end of the day, much as I dislike Cena, I think that they can really make a righteous heel out of him. By Summerslam, he'll be the top heel (and still champ), while Edge will be a babyface.

I'm going to really enjoy the crowd ripping into Cena. It'll be interesting to see what kind of chants they will come up with.

Makes it seem like a wise idea on WWE's part at the end of the day, doesn't it?

I fully expect the "Vince takes it up the ass, doo-dah, doo-dah!" chant.. but with Cena instead of Vince. Also, "fuck you Cena, fuck you! *stomp stomp*".. "Cena sucks dick! Cena sucks dick!"

We should just predict random chants for that and the winner gets a prize or something
I get the feeling that Cena will be dropping some mega heel f-bombs if this is truly going to be ECW.
If he does indeed drop some mega heel f-bombs, I hope they won't be censored. Didn't the WWE censor RVD last year during his promo? I'd really like to see Cena do an uncensored rap that included ECW fans, ECW wrestlers, Hammerstein Ballroom, and New York.

They censored RVD and Paul E. It just ain't the same, and it sure doesn't feel like a shoot, when he yells "EEEEE SEEEEEE *BLEEP*ING DUB-A-YOU!"

There has been talk within WWE about getting Chris Chetti to return and be part of the new ECW roster.

Mikey Whipwreck is said to be one of the main guys WWE wants that is in a situation where he must have a long-term deal in order to do it.

Joel Gertner has signed on part-time with the ECW brand.

hype level +1..

As long as we can get some occasional self-plugs from the Quintissential Studmuffin I'm psyched. I'd always look forward to those whether it was at the beginning of a Dudleyz promo or the beginning of a PPV.

If they censor the f-bombs, he can just wear this shirt....

Classic Superstars Series 11. You may be able to get a larger image at this link: http://www.all-cool-gifts.com/image.asp?type=store_lg&img=CS11set.jpg
I'll be picking up Diesel.. who's in the bottom right? That Shamrock looks awesome.. but.. he and Diesel don't belong in that lineup.. neither does 123 Kid..

Can they make a figure based on a character played by a guy in another organization? They should replace Shamrock with Razor Ramon!

Barry Windham. I don't think it much looks like him either. I think there are plans for a Razor Ramon figure. They do sporadically put out guys in other leagues, as the last Classic series featured someone who never really wrestled for their company (unless you count one or two promotional appearances for ECW Barely Legal in 1997), Sabu.

Once they bring out a Ramon figure, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see an Outsiders two-pack.

Some Raw spoilers...

Dave Scherer is reporting that there is a cage backstage at RAW tonight.

We're not sure where this will be used but it could involve Foley/Edge s these two are expected to go nuts.

Dave Scherer is now reporting that the Hardcore Match featuring Edge and Mick Foley will turn into a three-way match featuring TOMMY DREAMER.

This is likely the start of a Foley heel turn and to further the ECW angle.

Sounds good to me.

That's an interesting plan for tonight.

I don't believe it, however, since the WWE never did anything to ever make Tommy Dreamer look good, be put in a position of prominence, or even win the occasional match. It'd be really strange to all of a sudden thrust him into a cage match featuring main eventers.

Then again, Foley hasn't been heel since his Paul Bearer/Mankind days, in 1997-1998. I don't rally count the goofy Mankind as Vince's lackey (the time during which Mr Socko debuted). Although he had a *fantastic* title match against Austin at Over the Edge that year (98?), he was really a babyface by then. Not to mention the KOTR match that year (Hell in a Cell) made him the most sympathetic and "I have respect for that dumb bastard" good guy of all time.
The only thing I can predict is Edge and Foley vs Dreamer and Terry Funk at ONS.
Yeah, I bet that's how it'll go down.
