Cloverfield Movie Thread - DVD Out on April 22nd
Uh, that's not really clearly stated anywhere. They don't name what company he's going to work for, so saying that he's working for Slusho is pure guesswork.

Yeah, dude. He totally stood up to having words put in his mouth by a mod, which is cool.
I didn't put words in his mouth, all I said is that he stopped...it was mere premature observation on my part. Why you praised him for it, is beyond me.

Well, you know me. I'm always looking for excuses to complement people, doncha know. :)

Anyways, god damn. Pre-ordering the figure NOW (OH SHIT, I'm gonna be so broke because of that thing).

Can't one of the mods just really ban Soodmeg? Apparently you guys warned him 4 times, and all he got was a temporary ban...

I don't know of his history...I'll check with the other mods and see what's up...if anyone has direct links that they want to PM me feel free.

What would be cool is if they did some sort of fake (but real looking) documentary that included all this backstory viral stuff on the dvd as an extra. Especially all the slusho and tagruato stuff, not necessarily the myspace stuff unless it pertained to the conspiracy.

Like a Dateline story from an investigative reporter that uncovered all this stuff and let you kind of piece them together without spelling it out. I vote for Chris Hansen. Hes been off the tv too long since his predator series got canceled.

Exactly.
This is why this DVD has a lot of potential!

The news report they did in many languages was pretty fucking awesome. I wonder just how much "extra" footage they shot. Alternate angles and what not (possibly for part 2, or Gaiden)

Just saw the movie and enjoyed all of it.

People complain about the camera shooting, but it gives that realistic effect. I admit, it was annoying at first, but soon I got used to it.

People comlain about the monster...will any kind of monster please people nowadays? I thought it was some what unique and different.
So did it come from space?
People complain about the ending...WTF do you expect? A fairy tale ending?
I thought the ending was perfect, I actually expected it to happen the way.

The acting was great (no big names), the special effects rocked, and those erie sounds from the
parasites
were perfect. The whole adventure kept me engaged...had my full attention.

If you are the kind of person that whats to try something different, then see this movie.

Now where kind a get a deal on a "slusho" tee?

Oh yea...I was surprised how high rotten tomatoes rated the movie...they always seem to disagree with me.
this movie blew. if i wanna watcha 2hour home video, ill pop in blair witch.
Cool.
Then you barely get a story, very little action and even more shaky cam in a much lower resolution. Good thinking!

So why did you see it in the first place? You knew what you were getting into. You should just watch blair witch instead, right?

Lousy post. At least try to make an effort on why it "blew."

He gave the theatre $10, the movie took off his pants, and then...

I just bought one for $22 shipped through the official Slusho website...I looked there's nothing cheaper, not even eBay.

http://store.slusho.jp/

EDIT: Just noticed you found it...Seems like a legit site, I paid through PayPal.

Paypal...hmmm. Should be okay then. Yeah, it seems to be the cheapest place. Thanks for being the guinea (sp?) pig. Will pick one up soon.

I really hope the commentary on the DVD is as in depth as the one for Mission Impossible 3. Maybe then I will fully understand the movie. I really enjoyed the flick though and thought it kept a tense pace throughout.

Slusho.jp is one of the official viral sites for Cloverfield, guys. That you're concerned over it's legitimacy is quite amusing.

Yeah, its hilarious when you wonder if a store on a viral marketing site is an actual store or just a page without the ability to orders stuff

Get a life dude.

Hehe! Its your opinion! I love you all!

World peace!

You seriously had to question whether or not a movie studio would use any possible outlet to sell you branded merchandise?

Get a br...never mind. ;)

I'm actually surprised you haven't seen anyone wearing this stuff...lots of people at the premiere here were wearing it.

Now I understand this slusho site is all viral and whatnot.. but.. do these shirt ship from Japan???

I really only looked at the page and that was that. Didn't read much after that. Linkin, did it say where it would ship from?

No. It says it ships USPS so I'm assuming somewhere in the U.S. If I get a tracking number I'll let you guys know, otherwise when I get the package in the mail, I'll post where it came from.

No, no, no, they're not actually shipping from Japan. They're probably made in China, though.

I'd never gotten motion sickness before so at first I didn't even understand why I felt like throwing up during this movie! I really like Cloverfield's approach to monster movies but that camera was too shaky! One of my friends had to run out of the theater because of motion sickness and I saw others in the audience leave, too. I'm really wondering how Cloverfield will perform in its second weekend because word-of-mouth seems to be recommending against it because of this unfortunate side effect.

I am going tonight. I had the nephew come over (10) on Sunday night which spoiled my plans. Surprisingly the wife wanted to see it, and called me again today to amke sure we are going when we both get out of work. Gotta love her.

I got somewhat sick with Blair Witch so I hope it doesnt happen with this movie.

Well I never saw BWP and didn't expect to get sick during this movie. But the first 20 minutes really made me a bit queezy that lasted several hours.

I didn't get motion sickness either, but when the action all starts to happen is when it's at its worst. It's really only 15 minutes tops of the crazy camera action, but when you think about it...if something was destroying the city would YOU have a steady hand? ;)

My BF was starting to feel sick, though, so the motion sickness is very YMMV I suppose.

Your Millage May Vary?

Don't you mean Your Person May Vary?

Are we sure that
the clip doesn't say "we're still alive", not "it's still alive"? Both make sense but "we're still alive" makes more sense to me.

Just got back from seeing this. I didn't motion sickness and don't remember any one else there geting it. I didn't think the movie was all that good but not all that bad also. I guess I thought it was a little slow at the start. It got better the longer it went. Two things really pissed me off. The first is the guy running the camera.
I was glad when he was killed.
The second is the monster. I hated the fact that you never really got a good view of it that didn't stay on camera long. I'm not saying you don't get a good look at it but you just don't get a good look at it for more then a few seconds. Atleast not till the last parts of the movie.

I think that is what is coolest about this movie.
It isn't about the monster, it is about how the characters react to the destruction of the city. "Life is all about moments", I believe was said in the movie. I love that the video of their best day is being erased by all this destruction. But the remaining part of that day may reveal the clue to where this creature came from. I love that the movie is about love and the last thing said on the tape was "I love you" (before the nukes hit).

I was glad we didn't see the monster for most of the movie. The last scene felt like it was added at the last minute in order to get the audience a chance to see what's been attacking the city. I personally didn't think it was necessary....just cheapens the creature.... I am more interested in the parasites that attacked everyone.

It's not a big deal or anything, but just FYI, those didn't appear to be nukes that they used at the end.
