[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Did they ever announce a NES Remix 1/2 physical release for NA?

The whole situation with the game is annoying.... all I really want to play is Super Luigi on NES Remix 2, but the fact that you can't "unlock" the game you downloaded without buying NES Remix 1 really pisses me off. I swear it's almost as bad as on-disc DLC. They REALLY need to put some sort of bundle on the eshop for $20, then maybe I'd still bite.
http://wiiudaily.com/2014/07/nes-remix-retail-release/

Short answer: Yes.

I wouldn't mind buying it physical then. Still if you're going to let Dr. Luigi sit, why buy it?

They did and it was announced at Comic Con like a week after Elite Rewards were announced. I posted it here so people would keep it in mind before selecting NES Remix.

So it is coming then? Any word on price? I'd expect $20, maybe $30 tops..... so, knowing Nintendo, it'll drop at $40
Why the fuck would you expect "$20, maybe $30 tops?" It's a combo of 2 $15 dollar games, so why in the WORLD would Nintendo produce a physical edition that costs less than both of them combined?

My advice is get the NES Remixes physical and pick up Dr. Luigi. With the way Nintendo is handling digital purchases right now, it's better to go with physical whenever possible IMO.
I can't deny that Nintendo has a poor digital record, but I have an issue with just getting Dr. Luigi to sit and spending $30+ when I can spend essentially nothing for both digitally.

I wouldn't mind buying it physical then. Still if you're going to let Dr. Luigi sit, why buy it?
Why get an item if you rather have the physical version? Especially when the offered version is incomplete next to the physical version, so it would be $15 to get the full package or $30+ for retail (though we're almost assured a deal at a retailer versus nothing with the eShop).

Thats pretty much the issue I have in my head...

I can get Dr. Luigi and then buy NES Remix or I can get NES Remix 1 and either pay $15 for the other half or buy the physical version and have a redundant game.

Well I bought Dr. Mario RX on Wii, and got some version of the game via the 3DS Ambassador thing, so I'm not about to pay another $15 just for an "L" mode hack. The Super Luigi I was referring to was an "unlockable" you get when you buy both NES Remix games. It's basically the NES version of Super Mario Bros, but you play as Luigi and scroll to the left. I know that's not much of a change, but like everyone else here I've played SMB more times than I can count and it is really funny how the backwards thing messes with your head.

Because they've been out forever now and bundles like this are supposed to be cheaper. Using your logic, Wii Sports Club should be at least $50. Or maybe Sony should release the Uncharted collection on PS3 for $180.... or Metroid Prime Trilogy should be going for $150.

Or, depending on how much you really want the Remixes, spend the $15 on something higher quality (like Shovel Knight, or so I hear) and wait for the inevitable price drop on the physical version, since unless it has a super-short print or something, it's bound to go on sale for cheap sooner or later.

......As I see you just mentioned yourself in another edit.

Unless it's a limited print, or comes out at a half-decent price to start, I'd expect it to drop like a rock. But who knows with Nintendo, they are just as likely to quit printing the game as they are to let the price lower..... and since this is supposed to be one of the eshops "big titles" I doubt they'd let the physical version devalue too much.

I'm very interested to see what it does, keeping my fingers crossed for the $20 mark.

Wii Sports Club is $40, which is 1:1 with what it costs off the eShop.

Also, they aren't really that old. NES Remix is 8 months or so and NES Remix 2 is around 4.

I would, but I've been burned with those niche games changing platforms and rather wait for a Vita or PS4 version.

I didn't realize Baseball and Boxing had been lumped into one.... well shit.

And I thought the first one was around a year old.

Oh well, it doesn't really change anything. $20 or bust.

Hey guys, is Wii Sports Club actually worth buying? I mean, the old one is fine to me. I tried the demo for a few and really didn't care for it anymore than the first one.

I guess it depends on how much you want online. I really don't see the point without voice chat. Hell, I'd rather just play against the computer so I don't have to deal with people spamming those annoying little messages Nintendo tries to pass off as communication online.

And the changes to golf are moronic. I thought it was a joke when they showed the gamepad on the ground to simulate a golf ball during that E3 demo..... I still can't believe they actually did that. I only demoed the golf game for a little while but I didn't see an option to disable it either, so you have to keep the gamepad to view all your meters. I think they added a few new holes, but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with the Gamepad nonsense if you already have Wii Sports Resort. I'm still waiting to hear a story of somebody breaking the Gamepad because somebody got careless and stepped on it during golf :p

I never did try boxing or baseball, I remember I hated both on the original Wii Sports so unless they were completely redone there's little point.

Wii Sports Club is basically Wii Sports + HD + Online Play + Motionplus Controls + Miiverse Support, plus a few other additions, like the golf ball being on the Wii U gamepad.

If none of those things interest you, I think you're fine skipping it.

So basically I'll just stick to my $1 copy of Wii Sports? Thanks Half Price Books clearance!

But online play with no voice chat? Nintendo must have played Xbox Live and must have wanted to protect the kiddies from all the swearing, lol.............................as if you can protect them from that.

Indeed. I know you're not playing Mario Kart correctly if one of your friends isn't pissed off swearing at the TV.

Doubt anyone cares, but I would first like to thank SovereignNX-73811 and abbabaab for giving their 2 cents. I decided to go with NES Remix 1 simply because I am 99.99% sure I have to spend my eShop cash by December 31, 2014 due to how they resolved my problem and I don't want a single thing from the eShop and it simply doesn't make sense to spend even $15 out of pocket when I can spend money I don't value and redeem a free code for a game. Though I am still sad I won't get it physically. That box art... ;-;

Nice looking icons though.

Honestly, I would've pictured it more like your last avatar.
Laid back and no fedora? You good sir, do not know me!

Somewhat more on topic~

NES Remix isn't bad, but it's proving to be as short as you would probably expect it to be. Of the games I've played, it doesn't seem particularly difficult to get 3 / 3 stars (rainbow are a lot harder and I guess means you did really well. I've only gotten a few so far, so they're far from impossible) and your long term enjoyment will depend completely on whether or not you want to keep beating your records.

As far as the stages go, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of variety and some of them are surprisingly easy once you know the trick to them. Like one of the running Mario stages I beat by simply going straight fast enough. Haven't tried 2, but I expect that one to be better due to it having better games.

Update!

Some of the comments on the challenges are also pretty funny.

I ragequit over that turtle shell one-up level. So far for me, it IS fucking impossible :bomb:

Otherwise, I was raised on retro/NES games so NES Remix is fun enough. I do question the game selection for the first one, though, as they clearly saved the best games for #2. A bit more even in the quality of the games across them and I'd be happier.

Super Mario Bros. is my hidden shame. I've never beat the game. I would always run out of time on the last level. Of course I haven't played it since I was 10, but I still feel guilty calling myself a gamer.

No joke. If you just simply mash the A button a lot you can do it.

I am with you on the selection. Some of them make sense, but it really felt like NES Remix was the B game and Remix 2 was the A game. Then again, I would be quite happy if they outright removed Excitebike and Balloon Fight.

Also! :( I hit platinum.

I didn't beat it til I was 29. I had that game when I was 5. It was a great relief to beat it finally. Still haven't beat SMB 3 without warp whistles, nor have I beaten TMNT, so I still have plenty to be ashamed about.

TMNT is flawed. I could never walk the tightrope from the top of the building. I share your shame.

I don't know that I ever even got that far. I couldn't get past this jump in the sewer after you beat the dam bombs and get to drive around in the van. It was so hard that I actually thought for years that you weren't supposed to go that way. It wasn't until I looked it up a couple of years ago and saw someone do it that I realized it was possible.

I do at least have the pride of having beaten the hoverbike part of Battletoads. I couldn't beat the part in the river (or any other level after that by using the warp locations) but I did beat the hoverbike part.

Haven't been on my Club Nintendo page in a while but I grabbed

  • :3ds: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
as my reward... and I'm so rage quitting this game lol

I never even got close to beating TMNT. Level 3 required map taking skills or something, because I just couldn't do it. The Dam? Oh no problem. Navigating an 8-bit city, impossible. I've been ashamed for years.

Would someone kindly repost the list of all the 3DS and Wii U freemium games, demos, and hubs that give Club Nintendo coins?

Someone posted it not that long ago, but I tried unsuccessfully to find it using search.

Farthest I ever got in TMNT was inside the Technodrome, could never get more than halfway.  My brother used to lord that one over me as he was actually able to beat it (at least once that is).

Stage 4 was the annoying one for me, took some time to memorize the right sewer number sequence.

Ok, it's do or die time and could use some advise in picking my platinum reward.

I own a 3DS, plan to eventually own a Wii-U but have never owned a Wii and don't have a Wii controller (wouldn't likely have one right away).

My current thought is to get Donkey Kong Country 3D and then sell my physical copy, but that seems like a waste.

I appreciate thoughts and suggestions.

Why does it seem like a waste? Just do that, I mean it's not like there was much of a selection to begin with. You get some money/credit back for a future game while keeping the same one digital. No big deal imo, I would have probably done the same. Well I did do the same, but I didn't have DKC3D to begin with.

I ended up buying Game & Wario though for $10.

Well, since DKCR is a fairly old game, it really doesn't have that much value anymore. BB is offering $7, Walmart $3.70, Target $4.21 and I imagine GameStop is in this ballpark. This means you will be getting about as much for DK as you would get by just outright selling the voucher (many here would pay $7 ~ 8 for Dr. Luigi or NES Remix).

With that being said, none of the games offered for the elite promotion require the Wiimote, so you can freely choose say Earthbound and play that when you get a Wii U. In any case, I would advise just getting Donkey Kong and end your suffering.

This is because the digital deluxe promotion will either be dead or practically worthless by the time you get a Wii U, so getting points is moot. Out of everything offered, I can practically guarantee that every gold tier prize will be offered as a paid reward at some point in the future (especially now that Nintendo is doing 8 games). Some of the other prizes were previous rewards and there is a good chance Earthbound will also be sold at some point. So this really just leaves Dr. Luigi, NES Remix and DK. NES Remix has a retail version coming out, plus it's only "half" a game, plus Dr. Luigi is little more than Dr. Mario reskinned, which just leaves DK really.

I imagine it has to do with wasting their freebie on something just so they can sell it instead of "enjoying" it.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Club Nintendo is having another promo with Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U.

Club Nintendo will help you outfit Ganondorf with free DLC
Here’s a nice offer involving a (usually) not-so-nice guy: if you buy Hyrule Warriors for Wii Uand register the game with Club Nintendo between 9/26/14 and 10/23/14, you can receive a free download code for the Demon King Costume Set DLC: two costumes for Ganondorf that you can use in-game.

Ganondorf is one of the many playable characters in Hyrule Warriors that come from classic games in The Legend of Zelda™ series. The two downloadable costumes are inspired by his appearances in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Keep an eye on club.nintendo.com in the weeks ahead for more details about the offer.

You must be a Club Nintendo member to participate, and the offer is available only in the US and Canada.

OVERKILL........

I mean its ugly as fuck lol

but still. :(
I hate hate hate hate Zippers on things like this b/c it's a scratch hazard.... esp. the way this is designed it's gong to drag on the zipper going in and out some of the time or you hands are going to get mangled a bit .... no thanks!

But at least EU is offering different/new non-digital items (if that's you bag baby).

Un-like NOA club Nintendo....

Okay, so I just bought a 3dsXL and 2 2DS's recently.  Can i register them all under my NOA CN account? or do I have to make Sub-Family accounts?

I understand that I should wait to register them if NOA has another register a device promo until the close of the next NOA CN year.

Each of the devices will need it's own NNID also correct? One tied to my CN account and 2 new NNIDS for the 2DS's (sub Family acount registered). Is that right?

So AdmiralVic, if you recall about the games that didn't pop up on the CN website, they went up the other day.

Only in the form of post-play though.
I got nothing. Also if you recall, it looks like I came out ahead when calling Nintendo customer service.

Not sure how I feel about the case. I mean, it's better than the cases we've gotten and it isn't terrible looking either, but it looks like a purse meant for an 8 year old girl. -looks at my Pikachu 3DS XL- And I am staunchly against that.

Thats only a problem if the zipper is metal, where as this one is clearly plastic (from the picture anyway).

You need a family account to register multiple.

I never quite understood why physical stuff was always NOT making it to the US...
There are a number of reasonable explanations...

1) NoA Club Nintendo is going about the program a different way from others. This is why we have this focus on digital, where as NoJ and NoE don't.

2) Many people cited that the NA market is fairly large, so it would be more costly to do items and they simply opt out due to budget.

3) NoA doesn't have a fucking clue. <- The one I believe is right.

Out of the three regions it seems like NoA tends to fall short of NoE and NoJ and I have to think it relates to them simply not getting their demographic. Like Europe gets a lot of cool preorder bonuses, so far Hyrule Musou has a CE in JP and EU, EU tends to have a better selection of games offered in their free games promotions, NoA thought it was a bright idea to bring the Mario Kart CE to NA and sell it at 1 location, etc. I also wouldn't be surprised if they're also going off incorrect or skewed data that suggests digital items are preferred among people, though even then it doesn't explain the titles we got for elite rewards. Out of them all, I can say I only see the logic in NES Remix and Earthbound, with the rest, save Game & Wario (cause this one feels like a reject from the MK promo), looking like a random hodgepodge of titles as if pulled from a hat.

Probably the best theory. Lol.

For the CN Elite rewards, I definitely agree that the choice of titles was puzzling at best. Then again, maybe these were games that were not selling so well in the US? I don't know.

Lol, just saw the MK8 CE, it only has a Spiky shell paperweight. Not even bonus DLC, a soundtrack, or even a fold-out poster? Weird.

Thats the one I agree with.

Wouldn't that be absurdly insulting if that was the case? Nintendo Worker #1 "So we have to award those chumps that bought our games and filled out those surveys." Nintendo Worker #2 "How about we offer them something that has absolutely no value, such as our lowest selling 3DS and Wii U games. Well except for The Wonderful 101, we don't want to make those fools think we're offering good games." NW #1 "I like this idea!"

I don't see whats so bad or weird about that. It was a neat collectible (would anyone complain about it being a CN reward?) and it doesn't devalue the game in question. While I can't speak for others, I am getting sick of companies trying to sell the "its not removed content, but actually special content you get for free," which is oddly similar to the sales pitch the "CN is free" people try to sell. In either case, the only thing I really respect about Nintendo at the moment is that they're not trying to make DLC a sales tool (more or less) and just give me a complete game.

It goes for about $20 on eBay, which is where I'd sell it.

I can say from experience the Nintendo reps in my area are clueless. The one guy at BB was telling me how awesome the vita is and I could tell he worked for a game company...turns out he was a Nintendo rep. I saw him again at a gamestop and asked about the AR card promo that they were supposed to have. He hadn't heard of it. The next time I saw him and asked, he said our area isn't participating in it, even though it was listed on the website. He went on to bitch at the gamestop employee for them not having up the new mini display (small cardboard thing, that would take two minutes to set up) set up. The whole time I am thinking to myself. Isn't this guy a merchandiser? Shouldn't he be setting up displays and shelving product? If he doesn't even put up promo stuff, what exactly is his job?
