[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

*facepalm* I KNEW I'd forgotten something. Will do...
This might be a good thing to have on the first post since I'm sure each month, people might be asking this each time a new VC game is added to Club Nintendo. & yeah, thread title needs to be updated.
Sorry guy's, I'll get it cleared up. And I will add this to the OP, as I'm sure your right, and it might help a bit:)

EDIT: done and done. Couldn't fit them all unfortunately, but I think it will do:)

EDIT2: Changed it again. Sales didn't really fit in the first place.

EDIT3: Just decided to copy Frisky and Tylerh. This way I can fit an extra game in the title.
Is this the same game that's 50 bucks at GameStop? Or is it a water down version.
It is the "free-to-play" version, which is essentially a demo. You can unlock different bits through purchases (eg, the single-player is $9.99). But it was giving people the full 50 coins + post-play survey, apparently, until the day I decided to download it #-o.
Sadly, no. Last new reward was that Yoshi cleaning cloth from Jan. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until the next reward year (July) for new stuff to appear.
Better not. I have 2,400 expiring points by the end of next month.
So I'm assuming there is no way to get Mario rpg on the actual wiiu so as to play it on the game pad?
Currently, no there is not. If it is released on the Wii U virtual console, you SHOULD be able to pay $1.50 to "upgrade" it for the Wii U. Some have expressed doubt as to whether this will work though, so no one will really know until they start getting released.
Was I imagining something that said Super Metroid was available until the 15th?
well Super Metroid will be available on the wii u vc for 30 cents on the 15th

What she said. If it's in cyan it means the date it's coming to Wii U for $0.30. This is to help prevent wasting coins, when the game is just around the corning (100-200 CN coins are much more valuable than .30 obviously). Sorry for any confusion, might have also been because I forgot to update the thread title:cry:

Added this to the OP:)

I so much want to play super mario RPG on my Wii U tablet - can't wait for it to show up in the Wii U VC so I can upgrade. I played through SMRPG 3-4 times in high school. Best game evar.

Paper Mario doesn't hold a candle to it. Curses to the Nintendo / Squeenix falling out of the '90's.

Anyone think that with donkey kong and animal crossing coming in the next month Nintendo might offer something similar to the 3ds xl/luigi deal they just did?

Does Nintendo announce the next batch of games available through Club Nintendo before the current batch expires? Or will they just change without notice?

I have 350 coins expiring this club year but wanna weigh my options first.

they don't announce them, you have to wait until the day after they say they expire for the new games to pop up.

Thanks. I suppose I can't go wrong with SMRPG and Excitebike.
Wow, when did Mario RPG get on the VC? Time to sell my cart I think...
It's been on there since September.... of 2008

I'm 10 points shy of being platinum.

And I just picked up the flame red 3DS from best buy, haven't opened it yet though, should I get the XL? It's $50 more, and I doubt I'll play it all that much. But..idk. In the long run $50 ain't much, but I could get a couple games with that, and I do like the charging cradle.

Buy the xl.
Buy the xl.
I couldn't agree more. I went to buy mine thinking that the price difference wasn't really worth it. After holding the XL, and especially after playing it for the last month, the XL is so much better than the regular, even if you only play it a few times a week.
Wow, when did Mario RPG get on the VC? Time to sell my cart I think...
If you're selling your cart, I'm willing to buy depending on how much you're looking for.

I want Super Mario RPG so badly. Anyone have an abundance of coins (I only have 60) and would be willing to send me the dl code for the game in a PM? I know its a long shot, but I figure I might as well ask.
Buy the xl.
I went to a kiosk and tried it out for myself..yeahh. You guys were right. I couldn't imagine not playing on that.

I'd jump on Super Mario RPG if it was playable on 3DS. It seems I never hook my Wii up lately. I'd probably sooner bust out my SNES than the Wii at this point. Definitely grabbing Excitebike though!
I'd probably sooner bust out my SNES than the Wii at this point.
It's got better games, nobody here would blame you.

Grabbed excite bike. I would love to get all of these classic wii games, but honestly I rarely touch my Wii anymore :( TOO MUCH BACKLOG!

I love Nintendo! I spent 150 coins on Super Metroid because I forgot that it would be in the Wii-U e-shop for 30 cents. Of course I was still going to buy Wii-U version for 30 cents, but I was bummed that I wasted 150 coins.

But Nintendo just sent me an e-mail refunding my 150 points and pointing out the Wii-U sale. They also let me keep the code too. Pretty awesome!

I didn't even ask, they just sent this e-mail and refund automatically. Has this happen to anyone else?

Yaaay. I bought rpg on release when I wws in 6th grade. Didnt finish it got stuck at the end. It was my first real rpg. Wish it was on 3ds console
I need 170 points if anyones got some codes sitting around they wouldn't mind parting with for cheap, I have paypal. PM me.
Kind of a lot of points you need. Why not just buy the game on the VC for $8?
Kind of a lot of points you need. Why not just buy the game on the VC for $8?
because the coins would ultimately be cheaper from someone who doesn't need hem, I've bought more than that for less than $8 on here before. Also because I not only need that many for Mario RPG but also to get to platinum, so two birds, one stone.

Just got a new 3DS and my club nintendo code did not work. I have never redeemed one for a 3DS before. Is there anything I can do about this? I am not going to take it back to the retailer as that kinda seems ridiculous. But it is kinda bumming me out because it would have sent me into platinum staus and been enough for me to get Mario RPG.

Try contacting Nintendo and if you don't want to then returning it. Just tell the retailer when you registered it it was denied and Nintendo told you to return it. You shouldn't get screwed out of a 160 coins. You didn't have any broken seals on either side of the box?

When I first went to buy a 3DS XL at Frys I got to my car and noticed the seals were broken. I wasn't going to risk that the code was used cause it looked like a return. They told me the system was new but a return and didn't have another Mario Kart 7 bundle so I got refunded. Lesson learned Frys loves to sell opened box items with no orange sticker.
