[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Since you have to buy BOTH versions I think the cd will hold some value tempted to buy the 3ds one now just to flip the cd and recoup some of the cost

$100 = Free CD?

lol pls go
Why?

It's a nice bonus for those of us who were already going to buy both, and a pleasant surprise with how CN has been mostly digital here lately. No one should even consider buying both games JUST so they can get the OST. It's not like I said it was a great deal...

Besides, NA always gets shafted on the OST's and a Smash Bros. OST sounds even more appealing to me than most.

Don't act like such a douche just because you aren't satisfied.

Math is off a little bit

$100 = A Wii U game + A 3DS game + CD soundtrack

And if you were already planning on buying both, like me, the soundtrack is free and a really nice surprise. Im happy.
Yeah it was a nice surprise for me to, lol.

Maybe I just have high standards because of the MK8 Promotion. :)

Whoknows...

also don't forget to mention that it's only $80 w/ GCU

If we must go there... This will end up being worth way more than the MK8 promo. People wound up selling those codes for $10 in the last days of eligibility. Yes, you're spending $40 more right off the bat to in order to get this, but I wager that it'll be worth at least that if you really wanted to sell it.

The important difference is that the soundtrack is an actual CN-exclusive* item. With the Mario Kart 8 promotion you could easily buy those prizes elsewhere, but with this it's either CN or secondhand.

Not to say that the CD will definitely be worth anything, just that it doesn't have the same alternative availability that the MK8 awards did. Although it is Smash Bros, so who knows?

(*Don't argue about being able to find the songs on YouTube/DailyMotion/whatever, it's not the same thing and not what I'm referring to.)

#vic2014

Well I wasn't really planning to pick up Smash 3DS but I might now. Between impatience for the WiiU version and all the exclusive 3DS content that may be enough.

Ended up choosing a game from the K8 promo. For some reason I don't see an option to choose my Platinum Reward. Was it via email?
Platinum reward expired on the 15th.

3DS version actually looks super dope with the exclusve modes and stages. Plus its smash on a hadheld with online. Cannot wait.

Will probably buy both digitally with my discounted eshop credit unless I find a great deal on a physical copy. Either way the free CD is a nice cherry on top to two of my most anticipated titles this year.  Of course you have the self entitled complainers, that's a given with Nintendo news.  Ironic since I've yet to see Sony or MS offer bonuses on their retail software yet people like to complain about the free stuff Nintendo is giving away via CN.

Maybe for the next Zelda game they will give away physical copies of MK8 with the purchase. Nah, people would complan that Nintendo is behind the times and should give out digital content. How dare they, right... :)

Jeez, why did you buy multiple copies of these games in the first place?

Pretty sizable restock actually, with the Kirby patches & Pikmin tote coming back as well... There may be hope for CN yet.

Also, FYI, the Kirby/Fluff patch set is still listed at 175 coins.

Hmm - I just assumed I had all the Mario games but I guess I didn't have SMB2 so I got that for the 200 coins.

It also appears I can upgrade 3 of my Mario VC titles for $1-$1.50. I'm not sure if I should do that or just wait for them to be offered via coins. I just don't see myself using coins for anything else so even saving $1-$1.50 is probably worth it.

Does the free Disney Infinity (Wii) no longer give coins? I downloaded it 3 days after it went free, and never got anything on the Club Nintendo website, not even a post play survey.

Did they catch on and cancel giving coins?

For the life of me, I can't find it now, but someone in one of these threads posted a screen cap of their Club Nintendo account and it showed Disney Infinity worth 80 coins and people were in shock at both the free coins and it was a third party game.

The search function on CAG was no help in trying to find said post.

Anyone know why those Kirby patches are 175 coins instead of the original 350?
It's because they were "on sale" for a couple weeks earlier this year, but when they switched the price back they changed it everywhere except for actually changing the cost of coins. When the first set sold out a few weeks back they finally changed the price for the second set, but it looks like they forgot to fix the Kirby/Fluff set now that they're back in stock.

I believe the post you're talking about was just a screen cap of the CN site stating that the game was worth 80 coins, no one actually ever got coins from the free download. If I remember correctly it was posted by admiralvic.

Anyone else mention that the ITB surveys are up for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, both physical and digital versions, good until Sept. 26th?  Been that way for a couple of days, figure someone would of beat me to it by now.

Kirby patches are sold out again, at least the ones you guys mentioned were on sale. Kind of sucks since I would have rather picked up some physical item instead of the digital games, but ah well, at least it got me to go and put all of my expiring games in.

I've been searching through this thread and can't find the conversation. Wasn't there talk about some older games losing their coin value after so may years? Some were happening in the middle of Sept but I can't remember the games or find a list (if there is one)
