Is anyone else here having lots of trouble staying online during an MP match? I cant stay connected for shit and it's becoming really frustrating.

Yep, I randomly lose connection to games a lot.

Quite enjoyed the campaign, slowly going through it again on Veteran now.
I've not had issues yet (last night is the only time I've played so far). Do you guys have your NATs open.

I have done most of the spec ops mission on vet and some of them are a real pain in the ass to get through. But they have taught me to react faster to being shot so I tend to get a few more kill during MP because of it.
I was just about to post about this. We completed the mission with the hostages on veteran earlier. Then we started working on the one where you kill 10 juggernauts with only explosives. Even with 2 people, that level is impossible. However, we almost finished the last one. We had a good system going, and we got 8 of them down, but a friend made a mistake that killed him, so we were done. I'm almost positive that we can complete that mission. However, I'd like to know, has ANYBODY actually complete the one with only explosives on veteran? It seem downright impossible to me.
 That is actually the only one I beat.

Is anyone else getting frustrated by the matching system on this game? I don't have much time to play so I'm only at level 10, but for some reason I'm constantly being thrown into games where the next lowest level player is in the 30s ... getting my ass handed to me is NOT fun. Hoping there'll be a CAG night; I'd rather get my ass handed to me by you guys than some random 10 year old.
 That is actually the only one I beat.
 How exactly did you do it? We had a fairly good system of using the Thumpers and alternating between players. By alternating, you never give him time to gather his bearings. But this became kind of risky when you had to face more than one of them. Do you have any tips for passing it? We're currently trying to beat all the missions on veteran mode, and these last 3 are kicking our asses.

Looking for someone to run through spec-ops with me. I've got 24/69 stars so far. Anyone down? It's 5ET right now, and I should be on until 11ET. Send me a friend request with something like CAG Spec or something like that so I know you want to play. Look forward to 69/69
I just beat the game on veteran and I was confused by the story. Can anyone explain to me
what the deal was with Shepherd? What ever happened to Makarov? Maybe just a straight up explanation of what happened?
Shepherd was the commander of the troops that were nuked in MW1 (remember the "level" of you walking after the blast only to fall down and die?) He was pissed off nobody seemed to care about it and he lost his chance at revenge when Soap killed Imran Zakhaev with Price's Desert Eagle.

When Makarov rises up to take over for Zakhaev and sets his sights on the US to set up the conflict between Russia and the US, Shepherd sees his opportunity to drive up patriotism and get his "blank check." He essentially wants to take America back to a combination of the philosophies of the Cold War era when the military ran all aspects of foreign policy and World War II when patriotism was at its peak.

The game doesn't say what happened to Makarov but I assume he's alive since his death was never shown. Also its unknown Soap/Price's fate as they are now seen as conspirators with Makarov because of what Shepherd said with all of the evidence to the contrary destroyed by Shepherd, excluding Makarov himself.

The game also leaves it open as to who told Makarov he had a CIA/TF141 agent in his crew. I thought maybe it was Shepherd who then used that to generate the new US/Russia war but maybe not.

COD 4 was much the same in terms of getting matched up with higher leveled players all the time. Especially as time goes on and there are less newbies playing.

I just have fun and don't worry about getting my ass handed to me. :D I gave up trying to be competitive, worrying about my k/d ratio etc. I stink at FPS games and don't have the time or interest to take it seriously and try to improve. I just veg out, play and have a good time.

The heartbeat sensor is absolutely AWESOME. Finally I'm getting something done in MP :)

I agree on the matchmaking -- but my advice when you start up is just hang in there. It gets better (and more fun) once you get the weapons you need and people's levels become more balanced routinely in matches.

I find I am having the most fun with this set up.

Commando
Marathon
Lightweight(?? Whatever the perk that has you move faster)

With akimbo and any smg.

Now you mostly have to kiss your k/d goodbye (although lately I have been plus 3) but its just plain fun for some reason.
Anyone want to play Spec Ops? Took me a while to notice that there's no matchmaking for it, which is lame.
I dunno. I like taking down people at twice my level. There's little as satisfying as watching some 40+ dood rank lower than my level 15. But there is always that annoyance present when your team is doing poorly and the other side is chock full of a ton of caliber players, all doing their best to ruin the match with their relentlessness.

I'm guessing matchmaking can't be done based on pure level because that might unnecessarily overload the entire infrastructure, slowing everything down and causing less games. That's all I can surmise, though.

I'd be down for a CAG night. Always more fun to roll with people you semi-know than total strangers.

Anyone else think the riot sheild is the best thing yet in this game? It's only downfall is the lag, I'll be looking right at a guy and he'll knife me and in his killcam it'll show me looking to the side because he was strafing.

LOL he needs a hug. He has a tat it looks like so he's older than I first thought, even more pathetic.

I'm helplessly addictted to MP, i've got over 24 hours already. The only thing going to pull me away video game wise is the new Mario BUT I did buy it at 5 and came home and still been playing MW2. :)

I have a question, when you get a care package with say a gun in it, or anything that gets kills for you, do those kills count towards your kill streak? Cos sometimes it seems like it doesnt.

I dont think so. I got 18 or so kills one time while I was killing people while I was a helicopter gunner and I didn't activate any of my kill streaks. And I at the most had gotten just a UAV when I stole someone elses care package drop.

NO they don't. Per levelingdown.com link.

"Also note that kills from a killstreak reward that you find dropped in a care package do not count towards your killstreak."

Bummer I know .

I played for about 3 hours the other night with a friend and my cousin. I MAYBE got to play 4 matches were we weren't playing a clan where every player on the team was 20 levels above us. I only have time to play about 1 night a week, and its going to get old having to go up against people that play the game for a living. If you want to play with your clan, you should have to play other clans only, not random people playing with their friends that play 1/16 the amount of time.

Overall I stlll like the MP and the maps, but I still have two major complaints in my book...

Playing through 19 levels in order to unlock hardcore was almost painful. I think the normal modes have become even more arcade like. I just can't grasp the notion that if I put a bullet in someones chest they don't go down unless I put 3 more right next to it. Or if I shoot someone with a 50 cal sniper rifle anywhere but in the head, they just continue on their way...

I'm going to state again how much I HATE not having party chat. The amount of time that I spend having to mute people is unreal. Not to mention I have to stop what I am doing in the game to do it, leaving me wide open for easy kills. I can count on one hand how many people in 3 hours actually had something to say about the match going on. I get to hear people playing music in the background, people talking on their cell phones, people yelling racial slurs, morons telling the room to suck there privates, kids screaming because they are getting killed and yelling FREAKIN" CAMPERS! Maybe it's just me...

I do like the large maps in the game. Really like the snow level with the trains, but it does suit my game style. Snipe and move, snipe and move. Lots of places to hide and scan, and lots of room.

Wow that sucks. Ill probably never see a nuke in game then. Unless someone is seriously good at camping. Is there a game type where a nuke is easier to get? Of course hardcore doesnt show a reply of where you are at. But the matches usually end before anyone can get 25 kills.

Just got word from a buddy that the same shit that happens to me is happening to him.

I fire up the ol' xbox and everything is golden. I manage to go as far as finding a game and the game kicks off. No lag or anything, but the latency is incredibly suspect as the half a mag I emptied becomes only like 3 rounds in the kill cam.

Then I hit some lag, online locks up, kicks me back into the search menu where it freezes and then kicks me, not just out of the MW2's online, but completely off xbox live.

Anyone know anything about this?

About the story. What I get is that after launching the nuke, Shepard blames Makarov and kills off everyone who knew that it was his team that launched the thing. I also suspect that he was the one who leaked that Allen was an American in order for America to get the blame for the airport attack - which in turn lead to the invasion.

I'd say headquarters but it would be from camping and not properly helping the team.

I'm really liking that you get XP for a lot more things. Even though the level caps are higher to balance it is a cool feeling to be grabbng points left and right

beat campaign on veteran earlier, was good (didn't play cod4 though). it took longer than I thought (about 16 hrs, I should have just rushed through certain parts instead of taking my time and maybe would have taken 10-12 hrs).

anyway got several games of team deathmatch in with a few people I knew plus randoms. I did poorly just like when I would play cod4 at a friend's on PS3 where I was the only non fps gamer.

any tips to "train" and get better? I read that blog at levelingdown.com already.

Get to know your own playing style. Whether it's about experimenting with perks or just being conscious that you should "take the risk" sometimes. But be reasonable and soon you'll get into the mindset. Don't play hard, play smart. I personally found playing by myself more worthwhile than with my buddies. So sometimes I would hold off on invites and just played some matches by myself.

Also get to know the maps and weapons. Taking the time to actually analyze the maps and guns are worth it. You can always just play countless matches until you get a hang of them, but trust me it's way easier when you're familiar with everything.
Anyone want to play Spec Ops? Took me a while to notice that there's no matchmaking for it, which is lame.
Beyond lame, actually. Why do they even do this? The same goes for ODST's Fire Fight mode.

Anyway, if anyone wants to play some Spec Ops, let me know. I'm on at different times everyday, though.

Think there are awesome parts to MW2. But they just pale in comparison to the lack of knowing what's going on. In every mode.

Tried some Spec Ops with a friend earlier (One of the required 2-player Missions). Just...wow. That one's hard.

Haha, which one? We got to do some more spec ops Broly before I get AC2. Did you ever finish Snatch and Grab? I've officially made that yours - since you're the only one I've tried it with.

It was the first Bravo mission. I don't remember the name. I beat Snatch n' Grab on Regular to see how close we were. We we've been REALLY close to beating it, and I found out that the Juggernaut spawn isn't location specific, but timed. Basically, if we got past that Juggernaut, it's pretty much done.
Yeesh, I wasn't expecting any different, but Xplay reviewed MW2 like it was Baby Jesus the Game. Hinting that the Single Player was flawless.
Just wait until they review AC2. Your right about them though.

For those just starting out I have to warn you they don't match people up well in the regular part of multiplayer. I suggest you find some people you know and play some private matches to get started or local multiplayer so you can just run around the maps to see how they work since you can play all the maps offline.

3rd person mode is great. Very reminiscent of Socom 2 which I played religiously back in the day. I only wish it was team deathmatch. I'm not a big fan of the objective based games. But all in all, they did a great job with the third person view IMO. Any thoughts?
It's not. Awesome yea. But, not as good as COD4!
in my opinion
Agreed. MW2 suffered from "sequel"-itis - the idea that to improve something (i'm only referring to single player here) everything just needs to be bigger and with more explosions. The reason why I love MW1's single player is the pacing: It started off on a high note, went down a level or two for a few levels only to shock you again with the
nuke going going off and killing off one of your characters
, going through a few more subdued levels only to end on another high note
with the chase scene in the jeep
.

In MW2 they were killing off so many of your characters left and right and ending almost every level with some ultra-dramatic chase that it all started to feel very blasé for me very quickly. They never really tempered the action sequences and the story felt put together at the last minute.

I love 3rd person as well. I actually like the objective based games, but I do wish they had more options for 3rd person matches. It'd be nice to have 12/18 person 3rd person matches as well. For me, third person matches help keep things interesting. If normal first person starts to bore me, I usually switch over to third person team tactical, or if there are four or less people in the party. Also, lookin for some people to play with mostly during the day. Usually I play with friends after eleven pm, central, but no ones really ever on during the day. I'll add the CAG CoD MW2 account to my friends list later - stuck in class and really bored right now :'(.

Still enjoying the heck outta MW:2, for what it's worth the upgrade to the graphics and additional guns, vehicles, and the fact that enemies no longer continously respawn like a ghost generator from gauntlet until you reach a check point makes it a great sequel. It may not be groundbreaking but I'd pay full price for this one even though I didn't.

on a lighter note: my friend got me the gamer pic pack from GS, and I must say even though it was free gamer swag...the pics are kinda lame and hard to see. a shame, I'd even be happier if they had a stylized (2) vs. some of the cropped images on the box art instead.

I am a level 32 and I am still using the FAMAS (weapon you start with) as my go to primary, I suck at sniping.

What gun is your all around go to?

I usually rock the Famas or the Scar, but lately (yesterday) I started using the AUG HBar. It's not that accurate tho so I want to unlock bling for it so I can use the grip and a sight.

I love the Famas cos it's soo accurate at long range. But the Scar's iron sights are soo good that I don't need a reddot or holo sight.
