I just gotta say this with regard to the Batman Incorporated "reboot"...why does he have to wear his jock and protective cup outside of his new costume? Do we really need to see that?
For the same reason why he wears his bat logo on his chest.

Easy target.

i like batman inc but one thing bugs the shit out of me and thats with him creating all these batmen why doesnt he hire a batman to watch arkham exclusively or better yet to work there and help out the guards?

uncanny xforce wow didnt expect that.
It reminds me of the Annihilation stuff that's been going on for the past few years at Marvel; it looks cool, but there seems to be a lot of comics I'd have to read through before the story really made sense to me. Though I did read Messiah Complex and I did like that a fair bit.
I would at least try Annihilation. There's some great reads after that, not as good but some solid stuff. Abnett & Lanning did a great job introducing a ton of new characters and bringing back long forgotten ones, and even making a few C-listers relevant again. my biggest problem was they killed off way too many characters in their cosmic run. As I was saying before, because of this I became desensitized to all the deaths.

I'm still a little pissed on how Marvel left the cosmic stuff. I would've loved at least one ongoing.

Well I believe there is an ongoing next year called Annihilators or Cosmic Guardians or something. Greg Pak is also penning a Silver Surfer book. Not sure if they are ongoing or what, but there is some more Galactic stuff coming your way.

Over the last few months I've read Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest and I just started the War of Kings storyline this week. I've really been enjoying them.
uncanny xforce wow didnt expect that.
I was surprised by that as well. UXF has been rock solid for it's first arc and has been very underrated. Rick Remender wrote a good story with excellent dialogue and Jerome Opena's art has been a very pleasant surprise for me. I'd never seen his work before this book but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him in the future.

DAng.

Now i can't wait to get my X-force in the mail.

That's probably the best X-book to me so far. No drama, no vampires, and pure alpha.
Maybe I should get back into X-Force. I read the first 2 issue and didn't take to it. I have #3 & #4 sitting around.
it picsk up after the first 2 .

Superman just isn't an interesting enough character for a movie IMO. Maybe if they played it as a straight action movie, but they keep trying to add depth that I think just isn't there. Supes just isn't that deep a character.
Was the last guy not no-name enough?
Indeed. Oddly enough, he was attached to the McG Superman project years ago, before Singer took over.

I don't know. I still enjoy the first Superman movie, and it wasn't straight action. I think the biggest problem with Superman Returns is that they tried way too hard to stray from the action. You can have a story, but it's Superman. He has all these powers. Have him use them. But I still think you can have a story. Just don't overdue it and bore us all to death.

you need alot of action and the right villian as well as the right people playing the roles. spacey as lex luthor was a joke. id personally like to see zod in a film again only id stretch it out over a few films maybe even have superman beaten and tossed into the phantom zone. and all this is because of lex luthor.

Characters like Superman and Captain America are more interesting in a team dynamic. They're timeless but by themselves they're just too shallow.
Is there an Invaders omnibus (old series) or are there only "Invaders Classic" reprints? I do not want to read my original copies.
I don't know of an omnibus edition exists but some of the issues are available in the Marvel Masterworks format. I'm not sure if they're still in print but you may be able to track them down.

Superman was very interesting in his walk the country storyline, at least until Straczynski bailed. Cap can be very good when the proper writer is doing it. The problems aren't with the characters, just in the way they're written.

Read All-Star Superman and then make that statement :p.

Also, I think a Supes movie could work if it's loosely based off of Earth One, but we know that will never happen. Darkseid could make for an interesting villain in Superman movie.

Any of you guys can recommend a reliable comic online retailer, besides midtown comics?

Someplace closer to GA maybe.

I used Comic Fusion for a while then switched to Mail Order Comics to save money. Never had a problem with either of them.

Where are you in GA? I may be able to recommend a good store.

Supes as a comic is one thing, I'm talking as a movie character. Plus he isn't really all that easy to relate to either. I mean in theory anyone could be batman with enough money and training, no one is ever going to be superman.

Venom's new host
Flash Thompson, looks like my guess was right.

Looks like Marvel want's Dracula as an A-lister now. X-Men reviving him and featuring him in the next big event Fear It's Self. Matt Fraction is writing this one so I'm expecting it to be better than Marvels last few events. Peter David said his X-Factor would not tie in with Fear. Good.

Have to completely disagree. As Batman once said, you see Superman shooting fire, and it's hard not to think of him as a god. Fortunately, that's never occurred to him. Superman doesn't think of himself differently than any other person, and that's why he can be an interesting character, when done right, which is why I suggested Superman for All Seasons. It's a series that wasn't all about him being Superman. It was about the inner conflicts that we all face as we come of age, whether we're superheroes or just averages joes.

In the end, you can relate to any character when they are done right. I mean, I really cannot relate to Michael Jordan if we're just going to talk about his skills on the basketball court. But there's a story behind it all about the man, and that's where we can all relate. If the Nolan Batman films were all about him in the suit, swinging around, and beating people up, you couldn't relate to that at all. But they are great movies, because we see the conflict between Bruce Wayne and Batman, between living a normal life and doing what he knows only he can do to save Gotham.

I was thinking about mail order comics as an option. You have a link or any information on going with them?

Simple process?

Cummng area.

There is a store in Buford and Dr. No's. Both are to far for me to make weekly visits.

I go to Dr. No's if i feel like making a road trip with the wife. That place is very nice.

It's based out of CA (so not really close to GA), but I like Boom Panda.

Does anybody know the best way to gradually unload a comic collection?

(Aside from e-bay of course)

I've been collecting for over 15 years and have just reached a point in life that while I still enjoy them I feel too cluttered having 30 long boxes in the house.
I was thinking about mail order comics as an option. You have a link or any information on going with them?

The problem with Mail Order Comics is you have to place an order 3 months in advance. It sucks when I want to drop or pick up new books on the fly. For instance last month I decided to drop Batman & Robin but I had already placed an order for another 2 months which meant 2 more issues of Batman & Robin which I don't want. Alternatively I wanted to add Avengers Academy after reading the hype so I was missing the first few issues. The later isn't so bad since I just go to my local comic book store and pick up the back issues. Which brings up another negative, not supporting your local comic book store. Mail Order is kinda like "The Man" so to compensate I go to my local store and pick a few impulse buys.

The plus side is the discount, you save at least a dollar or more on the cover price. Typically a $3.99 comic will only cost you $2.47. I have 25 comics on my pull list so I save a good amount of money. They also have monthly deals were they'll pick 3 or 4 comics and put them on sale for $.99. They're usually issue #1 to help promote the book. Their TPB prices are good too.

The site is pretty easy to use, it's just getting started up that sucks since you're paying for comics you wont see for another few months. If you know what you want and don't add and drop comics all the time then it's great.

I want to unload a few comics too. Maybe bring them to your local comic book store and see what they'll give you for them?

Craigslist or me (if you are near Chicago). A comic store will not give you much.

Realistically CL would be the best option especially if there will be a convention in your area. Some dealers buy stock when they arrive at a convention instead of hauling it to the convention. You probably won't get much for them since they would be buying in bulk.

Dr. No's is my local store and was going to be my recommendation. You're right, though, Cumming is a long haul from there. Unfortunately I don't know of any shops in your area. If I hear of any I'll post it here.

I subscribed to Wizard for yeeears, since like the mid 90s, I stopped a few years back because they've basically become irrelevant.

Damn, no kidding about Wizard?
That was one of the favorites growing up and I just got a subscription last year with my wizard world tickets.
The few recent issues have sucked though, they were more about movies then about comics. Looks like I'll have to use the web more to see the latest comic trends.
Yup, the company is out of business.
Yes and no, the same people still do conventions.
Mother fuck. My wife just bought me a year subscription of Wizard as an X-Mas present. What a pain.
Dispute the charge if you can. Wizard is a bitch to get money back from.

I used to buy in bulk form them until they started leaving stuff out of my shipments. I still have cases of toyfare figures and wizard 1/2s.

I would be sad to see it go, but I gave up years ago on Wizard. Just sad to see a piece of my childhood gone.

i dropped Wizard about a year or 2 ago when they changed to a list type format. It was really strange and I didn't care much for it. Still I'd love it if I got it as a gift.

Dang man that sucks. You would think they say something when she paid for it.

Bought "the" ff issue. Got the one that was sealed In a spoiler free plastic with a 3 on it.

Decided I won't open it.

They never even contacted us at least letting us know they stop publication. I never even got a single issue.

The FF comic reminds of the Death of Superman I still have in the plastic wrap. Is that even worth anything?

last i heard the death of superman wasnt worth much if anything because they printed so many of them. i remember them selling those on qvc. do you all remember when marvel was pimping that iron man cartoon and they gave away animation cells in the comics? are those cells worth anything? are animation cells in general worth much ?

i always felt wizzard would do better as a website especially if they kept their comic price guide section updated regularly. i liked those cards they used to give away too. wonder if theyll be worth more now?

They still sell pretty regularly for $15-$20 on ebay.

I knew Wizard as going down the tubes when they changed the physical format of the magazine to that Rolling Stone style. I don't know if ti was cheaper or what really, but that was the beginning of the end to me.

I saw a copy of Wizard on the shelf and two things surprised me. How short is was (85 pages I think) and how expensive one single issue at cover price was. Magazine companies are crazy if they think people are going to spend that.
The idea of buying comic books for their value some day down the road never appealed to me. I remember when Spidey changed his outfit during Civil War people bought about thirty copies of the comic thinking that someday they could retire on this "investment." Just ask the people who planned on doing that with Spawn #1 how that turned out.

its like when egm changed. back in the day egm magazine was massive especially the xmas issue then over the years they got smaller and smaller. i wonder if wizzard couldnt go digital too. maybe a buck or 2 for a digital download.
