Commander Amarao's eyebrow raising Anime thread.

Now that Bleach is finally getting good on Adult Swim I was becoming frustrated with the 1-episode-per-week schedule. I decided to download the subs and have a Bleach marathon. Here are some thoughts from someone that just watched it for the first time.

- Chad sure seems to get the short end of the stick in this series.
- The author is very creative when it comes to coming up with characters. 13 captains plus 13 lieutenants plus various others and so on.
- As soon as I saw that old guy (1st squad captain) I wanted to see what he can do. You know the old guys are always the most powerful in animes.
- Ichigo's fights always seem to follow the same formula. He gets his ass kicked until he finds some hidden power and manages to win.
- The fight between Ichigo and Byakuya reminded me of Garaa vs Lee.
- What happens when soul reapers die? Do they turn into humans?
- I loved the whole bit with Aizen (no spoilers). I hope to see more of him after the fillers.

Right now I'm a few episodes into the fillers and trying to decide if I should even bother. I remember the Naruto fillers and how infuriating and boring they could be. I guess I'll watch a few more episodes before making a decision.
Considering the scar he is sure to have after the latest manga issue ( 271) I don't think you're that far off . Though this brings up the more important question , does Ichigo even go to school anymore? Between healing after ass whoppings or going out extended periods handing them out you would think he would have straight flunked by now.
He's basically failing everything. Before he heads to
Hueco Mundo
, he stops by school and is accosted by his teacher.

You know what's odd? I went from a search looking for that jumping failure thread, to the "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Anime/Manga Topic" thread, and eventually to this. Yay.

I have a question for all you Naruto fans.

I stopped watching Naruto after
The Great battle between Sasuke and Naruto when they were younger. NAruto does a super rasengan while sasuke does a super chidori, and everything is blown into oblivion and sasuke disappears, naruto has fainted.
because after that, a great, big 2 year filler arc happened that didn;t follow the manga.

From what I hear, the anime is following the manga again. Can someone please tell me what episode number starts following the manga again? I'd like to catch up in the anime.

Haha, that's a good question ;O

Even when he does show up for class, he's spaced out thinking about another ass whoopin' or ends up getting dragged out for a fight.
ehh just send Kon I am sure he'd be fine with all the girls in school girl outfits
There goes the neighborhood >.>
He won't just fail then, he'll get suspended/banned/expelled

And ya Cletus, Chad seems to really be cheated out of any actual useful purpose :/, until later on >: D
But, Ishida really out does him anyway so he still get's the short end :cold:

Underneath the bizarre exterior you'll find the coming of age story of a young boy.

And yes, it is indeed awesome. :)

Nope, it's like it vanished. In other news I finished watching and reading Black Cat about 2 weeks ago. Good for me!

just got to reading the latest bleach chapter..craziness.

I'd say Ichigo's ass-whooped counter is over nine THOUSAAAAAAND!

I really don't see how he can get out of this without someone else interfering
Those vizers should come and help out ;O

Gurren Lagann is awesome. That is all. Of course, being Gainax, I expect it to go on the crapper in the last half of the series but for now it's sweeeeet.

I jus finished ep. 22 of Death Note, I started watching it ~2 week ago.

it's crazy yo.

what I wanna kno is, can I watch the movie without getting very spoiled???

I'm currently downloading it and want to kno how long I gotta wait to jump on it.

also, is Monster better than or as good as Death Note??

I remember doods were saying a lot of good stuff about it, and I believe it's made by the same ppl doing DN.

I think when I catch up in DN, I can watch monster while waiting for new eps.

that is, only if u guys recommend it

the anime are made by the same studio, but they are base on manga by different people.

I only read the Monster manga but I enjoyed it.

Atashin'chi is the funniest anime I watched in a long time.

I also start reading the Haruhi novels. Really fun to read, epically after watching the anime.

How is Trigun Maximum?
I've seen it around and thinking about divin' in and reading it.

Also, what is the plot in contrast to what happens in the anime?
Does it pick up where it left off, or is re-told with a different plot?

so none of u doods ever saw the Death Note live movie then???

I jus finished episode 26, the show is freakin insane~!!! 2 more eps until I am caught up (I can probably catch up today).

also I was doing stuff with my USB drive thing and it had Bleach ep. 103 on it,

I seriously tried watching the Bounto Arc, but the manga was jus so much more interesting that I couldnt get myself the time to finish watching the filler episodes.

sooo..... how exactly did the Bounto Arc end??? (I assume it ended, right?) Are they doing more fillers in Bleach now or did they jump straight into the post Rukia execution / Back in Japan arc???

I aint caught up in the Bleach manga tho... which made my cousin sad coz he had so much he wanted to say... I hope I can make time for it soon

There is a normal Trigun manga (2 vol only) which ends with
Vash blowing the fuck outta Jeneora Rock when he encounters Knives
. Tri Max picks up 2 years later with Vash's return. The manga is much different than the anime. There are many more places visited, more gung-ho guns, and even Knives is much different (I won't say how though...).

Def. look into it.

i read the berserk manga up to 29.. wow. i liked the anime but the manga is seriously demented.. i like it but it was disturbing

finished Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and it was pretty good. watching GITS: SAC and it's pretty good as well.

Picked up My-Hime manga volume 1 and 2 from the Tokyopoop sale at Waldenbooks. Also got Yubisaki Milk Tea 4 and Welcome to the NHK volume 2.

Haha, this pretty much says you haven't watched it in at least 3 months :p

Bounto Arc ended 2 months ago. Arrancar Arc picked up on Episode 110.

IMO, there were some good episodes in the bounto arc, like episodes 78-79, poor Ishida :(
I also liked watching Ran Tao take out a shotgun, I was pretty surprised they threw a gun in there O_O
The final showdown between Ichigo and Kariya was cool, Kariya is defeated, but is about to finish a sentence when he just dissapears/dies.
The big guy who uses that metal lady doll thingy lives, and he goes on to live with Ran Tao in her hut spot.

Once the Arrancar arc picked up, it just kept getting better and better, and still is!

As for the latest chapter, your talking about Ch.273?

Guess that means I'm picking it up then, I've always been curious about it.

I wonder if they'll turn that into an anime as well :/

I'm curious though, does Vash still have that random happy attitude? I liked it in some parts, but I thought it killed the moment in others. i.e. - In the anime when he's leaving the two insurance girls behind, he tells them to stay back, but then all of a sudden goes "well, I guess that's all!"
I was like wtf? o_O

He starts out that way, but the series gets darker and darker as it progresses.

is 273 the latest one??? looking at my manga folder the last chapter I got is 260, which should be where

Sado shows off his 2nd giant arm at the end of the chapter

but I'm jus too lazy to read manga. Last week I DLed all the latest One Pieces, but they're jus chillin in zip files in my download folder waiting to be read.

I just finished reading the manga (Death Note) and have watched up to the newest out. I think the live action move is retelling the early parts so you'll be fine. I've only skipped around to see what the actors look like. I love DN :)

The Berserk manga is so damn good. They seriously need to think about continuing the anime series. They stopped just as the good shit started to happen. Its the perfect "mature" series.
Black Lagoon looks like it is going to be seriously cool stuff. I'm going to have to try to get the DVD when it comes out.
Does the steelbook LE version have a bonus disc that comes with it? I forget... but either way, it seems like the kind of show I'd want to buy, so I'm buying it immediately when it comes out.

Oh, and Eureka Seven Vol. 8 has a slightly more reasonable 1.5 month wait... which is better than the 3 month we've had for vols. 6 and 7. Complete bullshit. Great show though.

it gets pretty intense after the point where they stopped. What they really need to do is either make each chapter longer or come out more frequently. I really feel that series will have not finished when the author dies because it goes so damn slow and theres not even an end anywhere insight. Hell the last chapter just came out a couple days ago, but next issue is not till the 22 of June. At least FMAs are like 60 some pages for its monthly issue.

I don't see anything about a special disc on Rightstuf's site. I guess the packaging itself is the only special thing about the LE.

Anyone hear anything about Freedom yet? All i've heard is that its gonna be 1 episode, on HD-DVD, and its done by the guy who did Akira & Steamboy.

Are there any previews or impressions for it yet? I'd rather not just pre-order it for the sake of it being the first US anime HD-DVD, god knows it could be a bomb like Metropolis.

It's worth noting that it's dual format. It's got HD-DVD and DVD on it... so it's not like it'll be useless once HD DVD fails (and Blu Ray fails as well.) It is 1 episode per DVD and I think it's like $40 per disc. I'm not sure how good it's supposed to be, though the clips I saw of it looked very promising.

The bright side is that the quality should be about equal to that of the R2 release in Japan.

Looking at your avatar reminds me...

I need to watch that volume 1 of Burst Angel I got from Grico. :bouncy:

Lower your expectations. Burst Angel is good for boobs that look like they may burst at any second, but that's abou tit. (Freudian slip)

I had already seen the first episode via a Newtype disc or some other sampler. I liked it, but I know one episode doesn't mean much.

The series I most recently finished watching was Magical Shopping Arcade and the first episode really didn't show just how zany the show was going to be.

I wonder why Adult Swim would cut the ending few minutes from last night's episode of Eureka 7. I had to download it to be able to see it.

All in all it was a pretty good series. I can't believe it's been a year since it started. Now I have nothing to look forward to on Saturdays.
Meh, Adult Swim always cuts off or speeds up endings. It's not right :/
Its for those "witty" bumps of theirs. I used to like the bumps, but now they are just annoying.

So without spoiling anything or really saying anything but yes or no, does Eureka Seven get really violent? I'm on Episode 28 or something (just finished Vol. 6) and I always notice that CN puts the "Extreme Violence" message on before every episode... there's only been one point during the show so far where I can see that being the case, so yeah.

I think it does, but I honestly haven't seen all of the show. Holland pisses me off.

No, it never gets really violent. My guess is they aired the "arm" episode and some people got pissed. So they just put that disclaimer there to keep them happy.

I just watched the sub earlier today. That ending they cut off turned out to be a epilogue showing what happened to some of the characters 1 year later. Seriously, WTF adult swim.

They just aired a bump saying they are going to replay the episode in full on Saturday.

How many times are they going to intentionally fuck up an anime show is my only question.
