Crackdown 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info - Out Now!

I put the difficulty down to fragile because some of the beacons and tactical points were just a fucking pain in the ass (I hated how you had to be on the ground to activate it. Then it takes forever to get to high ground).

Playing this only made me want to play the first one again. I'd be in an area where there was a boss in the last game and I'd think, "Oh yeah, this is the gang boss who had those experimented people. I remember I had to navigate all around here to find a way into his office. And then to escape I would fall all the way down and go out a tunnel that took me outside so I wouldn't have to fight everyone again."

I find collecting orbs and doing the races to be way more fun in the first game. The idea of pinging for orbs is great, and it even shows all of the orbs you've found on the map (check under the appropriate Achievement). No longer is getting them all a hopeless thing if you miss one or something. The map also lets you track the various races, so doing them isn't much of a chore any more either.

I think Crackdown 2 is more for the people who liked messing around and exploring in the first game rather than people who liked hunting down the gang bosses. More mission variety would be great, but what's here is so fun that I don't personally miss it.

The orbs are easier to find in this game, but it doesn't show them on the map. It shows all of a specific type of orb, but it doesn't show the ones you've gotten or the ones you need. It just shows all of them.

No, it does show all of the ones you've gotten if you go to the in-game Achievements list (not the one you see by using the Guide button) and then scroll down to the proper Achievement. For example, to see all of the Agility orbs you've collected, you highlight the King of the World Achievement. Then the ones you already have are shown on a map on the in-game Achievement screen.

It would have been more convenient if they just tracked the orbs from the main map like they do with Rooftop Races and such, but at least there is a way to see them.

I see, I guess I checked that in-game achievement list so late into the game that I just figured they were all listed from the start.

This feature is pretty useless, IMO. I guess I could look at an orb map and then compare it to my map in game, but they should have had all of them on the map and then had them disappear as you obtained each one.

Hopefully getting this week with Dragon Quest.
Will be looking for ppl to pla with.
Should have headset by then too.

I didn't think it was that bad, personally. I just camped out on a turret station and waited for nightfall. I was at level 3 at 10 AM and as of 2 PM I was level 5 and that was with also leveling up my explosives (4-5) and driving (3-5) at the same time.

The prerendered cutscene at the end of the game was fucking awesome.

Catalina Thorne=Jack Harkness?

XDDD

I'm just happy it tracks them in some manner as I picked up one hidden orb for an achievement but ignore all the rest fearing I was making more work for myself when I came to tracking them down with a proper map later on.

Anyhow, I've been enjoying the game... I was surprised by the quality of the opening movie and after seeing it I sort of wish they had spent the time for more of a story... I am missing the old boss fights and wish some of those had been incorporated into the game.

Haven't tried any co-op yet (did in the demo) or the other online modes but hopefully I will soon... (working nights while most of my friends list's does not sucks ass.)
I unlocked the ducky bombs on Facebook last night and still nothing showing up on my profile when I sign in. What gives?
Unlock the Tactical Point at the Carnival... it's at the lower left hand of the map, the giant open area.

It is at a giant booth called Chuck's Ducks - there are a few with that name, the one in question though is very large (and you can walk in) and you can see the ducks inside of it. There should be two duck icons you can pick up (but you only need one), and they look just like giant yellow rubber ducks.

Take the ducks back to the Tactical Point to unlock them forever.
You can get them in the amusement park area.
Also you don't even have to do the facebook thing as I got them. (without going online either.)

I hate casual games like that but I have to say the Chuck's Ducks game was pretty fun. I wouldn't mind that as an arcade game or something.

Just got them last night. Took me a while to find them...they weren't showing up until I saved the game after I unlocked the tactical point nearby and restarted my game, then they were right there waiting for me...and OMG those things are awesome!

Best explosives in the game. Go to the quarry at night and let the lulz begin.

EAT DUCK

So I just found out that you can get four other people to ride on the helicopter.

The four others will sit on the spidery legs that come out of the bottom of the body - just walk up and press Y to any of the four, more spindly legs that hang between the four outer, larger legs.

Really? That's sick.

Just found out last night that I could get a helicopter in single player. I was doing co-op with my son when we found them. Very cool!

First time checking this thread. I've put in about 25 hours (only 1 in co-op), completed the main game, and have 3 agility orbs left to find. Hopefully with eastx's advice I'll be able to track 'em down. I literally had ONE last agility orb in Crackdown 1 that I never found.

I'm only about about 170 out of 300 hidden orbs.
And Brevity, it was a big help to find the helicopters. There are 4 on Agency island you can jump to; they either have missile or machine gun turrets. Then there's one high up on a skyscraper with no weaponry. You can touch hidden orbs in the helicopter to "get" them, but not agility orbs. It's also really hard to re-enter a chopper once you've exited it.

The last few rooftop races were a beast. Some took 5 tries. And I still haven't beaten the Agency Tower one, after a good 8 attempts. There's one jump mid-way that really sucks, and a few really cheap things happen when you're really close to the top.

I'm also one renegade agility orb away from collecting them all. Man, I wanted to shoot myself going after a few of those.

It's amazing they took a game (C1) with very few enemies/factions and mission types, and actually REDUCED that number in the sequel. I think I got my $40's worth, but I agree with most critics that Crackdown 2 deserves 7.5 out of 10.

How is it hard? When you land a helicopter slowly land so the landing gear comes down (need to be on flat ground and they pop out at a certain altitude)

Finished the story yesterday. The game was a lot of fun. I spent more time goofing around then doing the story missions.

Now I am working on finding the 20 agility orbs I am missing. I was exploring with the helicopter when I hit something and it exploded, but I started wing suit gliding so that I could continue orb hunting. I ended up accidentally doing the city glider achievement, lol. Am I the only one who thinks that you can gain height while wing suit gliding and stay in the air forever, cause I started out not too high in the sky and ended up at the top of agency tower.

-Edit-
Nvm my question, I verified you can gain height while gliding. It's pretty easy once you get use to it.

How is breaking a coconut with your hand hard? How is eating 2 dozen hardboiled eggs without puking hard? How is bedding a Brazilian supermodel hard? Because it is.
9 times out of 10 when you land, the chopper hatch will not re-open so you can get back in. At least that's my experience. Hell, sometimes it'll let me back in and immediately explode.

I grabbed the last remaining agility orbs last night. I literally had no idea there was a radar ping until searching around online last night. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but you can extend its range if you pause the game, then unpause and immediately tap up on the d-pad while the radar is pulled out further.

Also found the final audio logs and renegade agility orb (which I grabbed while Peacekeepers were going full-bore against me). Still not maxed out on driving and firearms, but I'm not going to grind those out. I'd rather just shelve this and start playing something else.
anyone have a map of where the heli's are?
There's a Helipad with 4 of them at the agency tower. There's also one at the ruins of Shaigen tower.

Yay, agility orb hunting completed. Helicopter + wing suit made orb hunting much easier.

I guess I'll put the game away until Toy Box is released.

Did you get all of the hidden orbs?
Did you close all of the breeches?
Did you take back all of the tactical locations?
Did you beat the main story?
Did you level your character up completely?

Don't put it away just yet.... there's plenty more to do!

you must not be landing on a flat surface and letting your landing gear out

Yes to everything except the hidden orbs. There is no way I'm going to hunt all those down, that would take forever! I am going to finish the rooftop races, maybe the driving races and renegade driving orbs (not sure if I'll do this, driving in the game isn't very fun).

I'm not putting the game away for good, just waiting for them to release Toy Box. That makes messing around a lot more fun.

Just got this game and really don't have a clue on what I'm doing, other than getting those beam things activated. lol

Having trouble finding 2 hidden orbs on the beach by the carnival. I think they are in the underground cave, but I can't figure out how to get to them. Anyone know what I'm talking about or can give me an idea?

Thanks in advance.

There are at least a half-dozen entrances/exits to the underground cave. Just go by the mansion with the basketball courts where an activation beam thing is, and explore near the shoreline. You're bound to find a hole underground. From there, you should be able to follow your radar to pick them up. It's quite a maze down there, though.

I never knew about orb pinging until I noticed you guys talking about knowing hidden orbs are in an area but not seeing them. Now I will go after the hidden orbs :p
Orb pinging?
Pressing up on the D-Pad. It pings any orbs in the area so they momentarily show up on your radar.

You can even get a larger area of "ping" by pressing start. Then press B. When the game comes back press Up. Your radar will be slightly larger and you can get a better sense of where the orbs are.

I'll be on in a few minutes if anyone wants to play. Just shoot me an invite, unless you want to help me (I just started the other day) then that would be awesome too.

As basic as it is, this game is growing on me. I'm finding myself just doing random things with the magnets more than anything, but I'm positive that novelty will wear off eventually.

Is there some trick to jumping out of the helicopter and not getting immediately killed by the friggin' blade? I've been going after a few of the achievements that involve jumping out of the helicopter, and I swear, 9 out of 10 times I'm dead as soon as I hit Y to exit the copter. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to avoid it?

Maybe I just need to suck less.
