Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info

ign gave an 8 and gamepot 7.8 both seem to think its only a 6-8 hr game. also its lack of side missions. after the storyline and orb collecting, they say there isnt much to do after other than acihevemnts. i think ill still pick it up later today, but on here most seem to like it. hopefully i do lol

I started on the middle difficulty, and wow is it harder than the demo was. Major fun though. Also, the stupid ski-mask guy actually starts to look cool as you level. He gets a helmet-esque look going.
Did you post with your knees?
Twas a play on words.

I have played about 3 hours straight felt like 5 minutes only quitting cause I need to eat. Then I can keep playing and have some beer :)

Anyone up for some Co-op Action hit me up

Yeah, but thinking about someone typing with their knees makes me laugh.

Also it is funnier when you ignore the obvious and go for something out of left feild.

I love this game!! I picked the ski mask guy and like someone else said he looks cooler as you upgrade. The game gets more difficult if you go to the third island. I havent even fully beaten the first island but i beat a guy on the third one

Been playing for about 6 hours trying my hardest to level up explosives , nothing clears out a hit squad faster then a ton of well placed grenades. So far best explosives seem to be a toss up, cluster grenade or the mine, both are a lot of fucking fun

Fun game, but a quick question.

If I join someones game that has more supply points/gang leaders killed then me, would I not be able to open those points/kill those leaders until I go back into my own game?

But, I just got the rocket launcher from one of the Volks and I'm having a love affair with it right about now.

Can you level up higher than in the demo? I maxed out my agility and I was really jumping far but I'm hoping that you can go even further in the retail version - does anyone know?
for co-op, can you drop in and drop out or does the game have to reload when someone wants to join?
Drop in and out. When you start a game you can choose if you:

Want anyone on your Friends list to join

Want people to only join with invites

Want no one to join

I think thats what it was.

Once Question I have. Say if I jump into someone else's game. Do I use my character? And any stats I gain do they stay?

Yes and, yes. :)

As long as you save, during that session of gang owning or general 'mischief';)

Thank You Sir.

I can't join games tonight. Something about the servers full and not being able to put the Crackdown? Weird. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to play with someone else.

It autosaves like every two minutes, it's nice.
Any deals on this game?

I really want it but don't want to pay more than about $45 for it
There was one with GCO for around $48ish.

yeah w/ GCO u can get it for under $50 but that doesnt incude shipping + tax. also there's also the $15 off paypal deal if you're willing to wait for the rebate

i would have done paypal, but i'd rather not wait the 1-2 weeks it'll take to ship and i'll use it on some other deal. went to BB and used the $10 off coupon instead

if anyone wants to play co-op, send me an invite

I got it and came back around 2 o'clock and never put it down until 10... Its that good....leveling up just makes you feel better....as does jumping so high and then falling..

most hilarious first 10 seconds of gameplay ever.

so i take the supercar out of the tunnel, drive it out into the first Los Muertos gang. i hit the handbrake and skid out near the explosive barrels. i see this going badly so i try to jump out of the car and BOOM! everything blow the fuck up and i die. literally lke 10 seconds into gameplay. hilarious.

havent payed enough, but the downside seems to be the depth of the game. lack of side missions and not really a structured storyline, other than beating gangs and bosses around the city. but for a shooter type game and free exploration around the city it seems very fun so far
I know it's pretty early, but are there any downsides to this game that people have experienced yet?
I suppose that there are a few. In Co-Op, at least for my game, it didn't record gang wipes for the player that joined the host. As in, I was playing with Logg, and we took out the entire Los Muertos (Final Crime and all), but only he got that achievement. I don't know if its just a glitch or if the game was put that way.

As the reviews have stated, along with others who have posted, the game is short. This isn't extremely bad, as in all honesty-- there isn't much to the story, but if you really wanted to I think you could grab a bud and clear the game in a night. Thats cool, sure, but the game is so fun, I wish it was a bit longer or there were more things to shoot. Rooftop Races and Driving events are cool, but they really don't mesh well with the way I'm assuming most of us are playing.

Other than that, the game is a blast-- I played with Logg and Sp00ge for most of the night, all of it was a good time. The discrepancies in regards to Skill level are pretty apparent-- its more fun playing the game when both people are on equal levels, Agility especially.

I'm leaning more towards just renting this game for now. Just to be clear, it's only co-op over Live right? Or is there split-screen as well?

i fell into 2 mapholes and got stuck. i had to quit and reload from one of my safe houses.

No way the beta is limited. At work we got 45 in on Thursday and today we got another 20. 46 of which were pre-ordered with us getting more by Friday.

Also went to Fry's in Burbank and saw about 10 left.

the biggest downfall of this game really is the lack of more multiplayer modes. Imagine playing crackdown Capture the flag across the whole map. Saints row failed at this as well with thier crappy multiplayer. Much sadness =(
Bottom line most people will agree the biggest problem is the longevity since the game is so goddamn fun

Maybe a few minigames would be nice too :). I'm thinking Car Soccer.

I had this happen to me. It happened in one of the ventalation shafts holding an agility marker/upgrade. I grabbed the lip and when I went to pull myself up I was thrust inside the small box with no way out. Other than that the game is good fun. It won't win alot of awards, but it is a nice addition to the 360 library.

I heard from other places around that you need 4 stars in agility to get to the top of the agency tower....NOT TRUE!!!

I got to the top of the tower with 3 stars. Its tricky, but I did it on the first try. I also landed in the water below for another achievement, I was worried b/c I didnt want to climb up there again.

In the demo i would always either get stuck at one part or run out of time.

I like it. Haven't had a lot of time to put into it so far, but so far so good. One of the reasons I like it more than the demo is I'm playing on the middle difficulty, it makes it so you're not as invincible as I always felt in the demo. Taking out the bosses is harder too. Hopefully it will make up for the fact that someone could beat this thing in two days.

Haven't tried co-op yet.

Saint's multiplayer gameplay was fine, it was just hurt by technical problems.

I'm baffled as to why Crackdown didn't include at least something. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a download later, though. This game is too shallow to go without additional content - and I don't mean stuff for those final 100 points.

Played a lot yesterday, and I really, really like it. The targeting system is fun, and I've just been going around the first island. Have one more "sub boss" and then the Kingpin to take down. I'm at 2 stars for agility, 3 for strength, 1 for guns. Any tips on boosting up the explosive rating. Everyone runs from my grendaes. I think I only have 10 into the first star for that rating.

Oh, and shooting the tires out of cars on the freeway will never get old.
