Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info
D'oh-eth! Boy, that hour or so total I spent getting into and out of parked cars was sure time well spent...

I have literally 8 agility orbs left to find, but I think I'm going to give up. They're not as easy to spot from tall buildings as I'd hoped -- I imagine the remaining ones are sneakier. Something tells me it'd take an average of 20 minutes/orb to sniff out the remaining ones. I'm not that driven to be a completist.

I have 12 left to find, I literally played for about 2 hours and didn't find a single one. I imagine the ones I missed are semi-hiddden and/or low to the ground.

I still have 5 agility orbs and 30 hidden orbs left and I swear I searched every rooftop on all three islands and I've pretty much ran out of places that I can look.

I oficially beat all the misions today, i only need to master the Fire arms and Driving to get the master acheivment. I have about 25 Agility Orbs left and around 115 hidden orbs most should be in volk or shi gen as some bosses i jsut run and gunned without scouring the entire place. Also still need to finish the road/rooftop races and find all the stunt markers.

Now i shall have to wait for the content downloads.

Great way to build up your driving skill is to take the Agency semi and run over baddies in Shai-Gen. Get up speed and you take out whole vehicles. The mutants make easy targets, too, and the rewards cancel out the penalties for hitting bystanders (usually). I also did lots of tricks with a ramp truck by the fair in Los Muertos with the Agency SUV. I never messed with car skill until I pretty much beat the whole game. I would much rather roof-leap to locations than drive there -- especially when there's orbs to get.

I have been skeptical of buying this just from seeing everyone on my friends list only playing it for the first week that it was out. I almost bit on it today when I saw it at a used store for $40.

This is a really fun and addictive game, but it is kind of easy and over way too quick. I've only rented it at Hollywood video, and i've only got two people left to kill.

Anyone know of any quick ways to level your driving ability that don't involve those stupid ass races?
Anyone know of any quick ways to level your driving ability that don't involve those stupid ass races?
I haven't done it myself, but I hear the Agency Truck Cab + high difficulty (for more gang members to run over) is a good way of going about it.

Hmm...thanks, good idea. I've never actually used the cab from the agency probably since I started the game. I think I tried it out once and went back to everything else:lol:

Each ability maxes out at 4 star and --.

Another good way to max out driving his to take the firefly to a gang area and blast away until a hit squad shows up. Hop in your car and mow them all down.

Yeah, but them all down with the agency truck cab, going full speed using the B button special ability thing. You'll mow through everything. I maxed out my driving by doing this in about 20 minutes (once I got four stars that is).
Does agility stall at 4star 99 until you get all the orbs? The damn thing won't move up to -- like other stats for some reason.
Nope, that's the first thing I maxed out, personally.

I have a question: I now have 2 agility orbs remaining to find, and I know where one is: At the top of that glass globe where Shai-Gen's Fang-Yin was. There's an odd spinning thing inside it that I can't get on for long, but I'm pretty sure you need to go from the outside anyway. It's super high up, though, and nothing similar around it to jump from. Any advice?

EDIT: Ah, figured it out minutes after posting. Anyone else interested in the solution?

i guess it wouldnt hurt to post it for future reference

anyone have any advice on leveling driving skill fast? Whenever i drive at the bad guys they jump out of the way, and whenever i try doing the races i end up speeding thrugh steets and running over civilians like crazy, thus lowering my XP:bomb:

im lvl 2 ATM

Probably already been covered, but am I the only one who's target lock gets "stuck" on downed gang members? I end up trying to run in circles away from the downed body before the game unlocks off of the target. It's fucking annoying.

happens to me too..when that happens to me, i manually try to get the reticle closer to my intended target, then pull the autoaim trigger

drive up the them really slow, then gun it. They aren't smart enough to roll or anything, they just keep shooting.

If you go down the road to Robotnikov's hideout (the island to the right of the Volk area), there's something like 4 guys standing in the road that don't move (much). You can run them over, back up so they respawn, and repeat. They respawn really fast when you leave because it's the beginning of a mission that you keep "starting".
happens to me too..when that happens to me, i manually try to get the reticle closer to my intended target, then pull the autoaim trigger
See, my problem is that the reticle is locked onto the target. I end up circling and strafing for a minute or so before it'll unlock. It's to the point where I'm killing everything hand to hand because I can't aim. Maybe it's just me, but it's almost making this game unplayable.

1. Don't do the races until you are maxed out. Your XP won't lower once you hit the -- level.

2. Go to Muertos. They have the weakest weapons and rarely use grenades. This will keep your car intact longer. Hop out of your car and use the firefly on a gang area to get a hit squad to show up. Bang. Hop back in car/SUV. Plenty of bad guys to run over/back over that are hard to miss.

3. Set the difficulty higher than "tough." Again, more enemies to run down.

4. Co-op. Get the hit squad going, and have your buddy shoot the enemies legs out. This cripples them and you can run them over.

5. Once you get 4 stars and want to totally max out the -- get the SUV and head to La Mugre beach. Do stunts on the beach houses.

I tried that yesterday, and didn't have much luck. Where I found it's best for doing lots of tricks (say, to get the 6 in 60 secs achievement) is on the north Mugre island by the massive arena (Diaz' hideout). Take the road north of that in the SUV, and you'll find some patches of rock along the road that look similar to half-pipes. Drive up 'em, hydraulic, and the perform backflips. You can fire off six of them in a flash.

I am down to only ONE stinkin' agility orb... No clue where it'll be. Talk about needle in a haystack.

Just booted up the game today and got an update. Anyone know what it is?

Edit: Majornelson.com
Next time your pop your Crackdown disc in (and you are connected to Xbox Live) you’ll get prompted for a title update. According to what I am told, The update ‘addresses several minor technical issues to ensure a smoother online gameplay experience’ and ‘increases the number of ambient gang vehicles that populate Pacific City.’ That last one should held with the ‘Repo Man’ achievement.

There ya have it. What’s up with any DLC? No details yet…but we should have some news soon in it.

Dear god, the driving in this game is terrible. I know I know, I need to level up, but that's complete crap, you either know how to drive, or you don't. I don't see what's fun about a game mechanic in which you have to level up for the controls to get better and more responsive. Absolutely ridiculous idea. Otherwise, I'm liking the game.

have you driven out of the roads lately...lots of crazy kids dont know how to freakin drive out there...but give them 2 years and MOST will be decent by then...hey, same thing :)

I would actually stay away from Muertos when trying to level up for anything... The harder the gang island, the more xp you get.

I just went to the Shai Gen island with the SUV and drove very slowly at enemies right in the area where you come out of the agency garage. I didn't gun it when I'd get close either, I'd just slowly drive, steering toward the gang members as they'd try to dodge away. If my SUV stopped working I'd just hop into another car until it stopped working. If they killed me I'd just spawn back in the garage and start over.

I especially had alot of fun with the SUV at the final crime locations after killing the last gang boss of each gang.

But mainly, go kill the gang members that give you the most experience.

That is very annoying. I never had to wait that long though. I just unlock my focus on the dead target, move the free reticle a little more toward the live gang member I want to target and pull the targeting lock trigger again. It does sometimes take a few attempts but I don't get stuck as long as you seem to be describing.

Can anyone tell me how to get the Rampage achievement? The one that says
"Wreak havoc in 60-second increments"... that's not clear to me. HELP!

Press Start and then look at the achievements from the menu in Crackdown. There are several different things you must do in "60 seconds" to earn this. The said menu has all of the different havocs you must wreak.

how are u supposed to get certain achievements by killing gangs you have already wiped out?

does doing time trial and re doing the story count towards the achievements? (i.e kill 500 guys with explosives)

EDIT: nevermind, forgot that you can turn the gangs on once you defeat the game =p

Sneek peak of what to expect from the DLC:

One of the Crackdown developers put up a screenshot taken from an upcoming download for the game. The screen shows four buggies, suggesting that the download will include at least a new game type and a new type of vehicle.

Looks like its packing a machine gun too! :bouncy:
hopefully there is more, being as this is just a sneak peak.
O Yea. I just want those damned last 100 Points they owe us :)
O Yea. I just want those damned last 100 Points they owe us :)
ya I can't see there being many points out of a new race game mode, except something along the lines of complete all the multiplayer races. Or something like that.

Which would probably be worth only 10 points.

They said they are going to be watchign what people do when they play the game so they know what we like and shit. I'm curious to see what they came up with. I know it's not racing since who drove when you could leap over buildings?

I drove just to do all the races and get my stats full, but that was it.

Cool glad I got this game, I was a little turned off being the game to get for the beta of halo 3 but yea it is loads of fun. How do you drive up bulidings?! That and you think your SUV could go up stairs but I just stop dead when I hit them. Oh and why does the announcer say wow your high up when your on the ground level, this happens all the time when I'm getting a car at my HQ?!

thats why I turned that guy off after I beat the game.

Is there a good way/tactic to upping your driving skills short of completing all the driving missions? I always run over pedestrians.

I know you get orbs as well when you run over gang members, but I'm onto the Shai-Gen right now and them wielding rocket launchers across the map just blasts me too damn much to get any worthwhile advancement.

That last map works well for upping your firearms and explosives since there's so many thugs to draw out, but my driving is the worst of all the stats.
