Hell yes -
I just beat Stray Demon. I read up on darksouls.wikidot about some more strategies. One didn't work at all - it said you could hang back and throw dung pies at him and he'd die from that. I hit him directly 2 or 3 times and nothing happened - so maybe that got patched earlier?
Anyway, the key thing I got out of that was that you can run to the corner right after falling and
he won't aggro on you! This means you can heal, for one thing (and try the dung pie approach as above).
Then I decided, well, now it is easy to get behind him so I ran out when he paced the other way and started attacking with the Drake Sword (not upgraded yet). It was easy as pie as long as he kept in place and spammed his AOE attack - I just backed away and went back in for 2 or 3 swings. It got a little tricky when he rotated or flew, of course, and I died a few times when I got hung up on his leg while trying to roll and then he did his area attack. I also did the whole thing locked on which I find much easier that trying to adjust the camera the whole time - it makes getting away from his rotation much easier IMO. You can pretty much tell he's going to do his AOE attack if he stops moving entirely - you also know if you just get 2 or 3 hits in it is time to move.
But I kept at it and on like the 3rd or 4th time I got him about 3/4 the way and I got caught up again and I thought I was dead but I had about as small a health bar left as you could see. I mean, I must have had 10 HP or something. I actually put down the controller because I assumed I was dead. I picked it up quick when I saw my char get back up and then rolled quickly behind him again. But, whoops, my Estus Flask was empty (I only had 5 from that bonfire, and used 1 when first starting). So I was just super careful and for the last bit of his health bar I hit him with two Great Chaos Fireballs and that was it. I think on the last one he was facing me and about to swing down right on top of me when my fireball animation finished and it just barely killed him.
I'm so hopped up now on adrenaline I can barely type (keep having to correct

). You gotta hand it to this game - when you
do finally break through it feels pretty awesome.
So, as for the glitches, I guess I'll pass on the infinite souls one, but I will, I think, get a bunch more twinkling and demon titanite. Yeah, sure, you can buy them with the new patch, but I'm sure they won't be cheap and I'm holding all the things I need for conversion already (plus I'm at the asylum now anyway).
But, in any case, the key thing about what I did was to run straight for a corner of the room and he still doesn't even know you are there! That helps a ton and makes the initial hit to your health from falling meaningless. I mean, hell, one time I was able to play with the inventory and equip the Dung Pies to try that - he just paced back and forth and never saw me. I think to do this you have to run from the bonfire side, though it may not matter. I know I couldn't hide from him once when I tried the other side but every time from the bonfire side I was able to get to the corner. Oh, and kill the two dudes up top first so they don't fall down with you and draw his attention to you.
The question is, after I get the stuff from the crow, do I press on with a third attempt at Sen's Fortress or call it a day on Dark Souls and take a break by playing something much, much easier (say, Uncharted 3

)!?
