Yes, I agree. The specific used game coupons are almost useless. We like to be able to choose what games we want, no be limited to what is currently over stocked.

40%-50% is the best of the 3.

The $15-20 off game coupons are only attractive if the specific game is a AAA game (MARCH B:AC Deal) other than that this will always stink. (APRIL COUPONS!!!)

I think for the most part... BBY coupons always stack with sale prices. (kindly correct me otherwise)

1. $15-20 off game specific used - because they are the best shot at sub-$10 clearance prices for games Best Buy is trying to dump (Homefront, Crysis 2, etc.). This option becomes drastically less interesting the more the final price increases past $10.

2. 40-50% off ANY used - these are usually decent across the board, since the "normal" Best Buy used prices are about double what a "good" price would be, so 50% off double would make it back to good.

3. $10-15 off ANY used $30-40+ - This is generally out of my price range. I did cave and use the $10 off $30+ for Ico/Shadow HD, but I don't see me making very many $20+ purchases.

Honestly I like $15-$20 off game specific used game coupons if it leads to more cheap games like Homefront. However seeing as it is used games it would be more worthwhile for all these to actually be useable ONLINE since most instore selections are limited at best. (10+ copies prince of persia/sly collection at one store is dumb)

If I had to rate it:

1) $15-$20 off game specific used game coupons
2) 40%-50% off ANY used game coupons
3) $10-$15 off ANY used titles priced $30+ or $40+

The 50% off is great since it would be 60% for GCU members but the $15-$20 off specfic can lead to more ultra cheap titles since the buy range for most used needs to be $35 or less prior to coupon. Netting a $12-$15 used title that goes for $25-$30 used even offsets the online pass(which some people may not want anyways).

The $ off $30-$40 can net huge deals early in a games life cycle. MW3 was under $40 ASAP w/coupon + GCU this type of deal could let you play & trade the used version in for = or more than paid since it's near release.

I tried to PM the BB Twitter for Darkness 2 and use the coupon and no go.
One or the other.

The manager tried to do both and when she scanned in the coupon (after PMing) and pressed accept, it listed the coupon as $0.00.

I think if they PM the Twitter post I'll just take it anyway. I mean right now Darkness 2 is 39.99 if it went on sale for 29.99 we'd be getting it for 19.99 with coupon anyway. Also the trade in value is $14 + 50% which would be $21. So...one dollar to pay for tax!

Well 60% for unlocked but my tax is 8% so it would only be a $1 profit.
I suppose it's not bad to play it for a day and trade it in cause then you get RZ points for both the purchase and the trade-in.

Oh yeah, sorry about that.

The only problem with game specific USED coupons, is that not all stores get enough stock of used games that are on the deal. They either get 2-4 of the game or not an all which is a bummer. With new games, there is a greater probability that the store will still have stock on them. (RAGE, BULLETSTORM, B:AC las month)

I was lucky enough to buy Resistance 3 used in my store i frequent. But from the time the deal went live and i got my game until yesterday... the BBY i talked to said they only got like 4 of them since then.
 
Too lazy to look back, but just got my coupons for signing up! I signed up two issues ago, got this month's in the mail (really early!) and just got my coupons! They're not the best in the world but a b2g1 used is always welcome.

Then BB can provide a full selection of used games not limited to store stock & the new titles won't always be cleaned out of stores since more people will buy online.

I know they like the foot traffic generated by the coupons but I don't really see them pushing the GCU effectively in-stores in a way that would truly benefit the unlocked program anyways. If it's only going to be people going in/out just for the coupon deal what good is the foot traffic? Until they start exposing the after coupon/after GCU discounted prices in the weekly ad/online along with GCU dedicated stands that clearly outline the benefits of GCU the program will never truly reach it's highes level of success. I know as a CAG we don't want to have to consistantly compete with the masses/el hoardo for deals but with a stronger GCU the quantity of items would be greatly increased to meet the higher demand.

Its sad that bestbuy needs to limit it to one title per game per year or be banned. How are they suppose to get their used game supply up if no one is trading them enough games... Casual traders will not be affected at all but everyone else will just have to keep tabs of what they trade or get hit by the ban hammer!
 
what kind of coupons should be in a special pack sent to all GCU that aren't in the welcome pack?

Are there any coupons that should be geared toward trade-ins? Not sure if these would stack with 40%-50% extra trade in deals though probably would be one or the other.

Got my welcome pack today. Pretty good turnaround time considering I joined at the beginning of March. Coupons expire July 7th.

Well, since BB ships all used games to once location and then ships out to stores, I think they can estimate what games will have overstock used and they will want to get rid of. Some people will still be SOL but homefront was not too difficult to find.

As far as the trade in, store trade in programs are meant to make the store money, not traders so that is why they are cutting back. If GS stuck to the same policy it would eliminate all this coupon abuse and mess around Batman.

A $20 gift card with a purchase of a new game [29.99+] would be nice.
Difference between the $20 gift card as oppose to $20 off a game price off the bat is that you have to pay more to get the discount [why I picked $20 instead of $10...and I would like 29.99+ but they'll most likely do 39.99/49.99+ instead] and future purchases are directed to BB because of the gift card.

A bit similar to the Max Payne 2 promo [without the prerequisite pre-order] they have but it would be extended to other new games as well.

Add in some price matching and woooooo, count me in for a pair of this coupon.

I would actually like a coupon like such in the magazine but I don't want to be confined in the month period.

Ex.

I thought it would factor in like those free gift bonuses? Like the shirt from Witcher 2/Prototype 2 Steelbook, it would only work against you if you returned the game. Otherwise it doesn't really effect the free promo deals.

When I went to PM my copy of ME3 I had already used my GC. When they did the PM they gave me a $16 GC and like $5 back on my Visa.

yeah i was totally gonna flip more mw3's/unch3's past few weeks but this 1/per title per year is putting a serious cramp in my flippn and i dont want both of my id's banned.(grrl and mine). still turning 20+4 unwanted games into 50 is nice, but would have liked to do it x3. lol

just got my welcome packet for gcu today, and i signed up at the end of february...
so if ur still waiting on yours, there is hope if you're patient. also, my bb has a table set up with a bunch of older games on it that are 50% off..they aren't marked so let the game rep know u got the game from the table if they have 1 set up at your store. picked up nier 360 for 7.50; already have it on ps3 but i love it enough to double dip with a gc.
