Just left the BB in Springfield, MO. They had plenty of Brink on 360 & Hunted on PS3. I spotted what looked like a nice cashier and went to her instead of the other one I know is a coupon Nazi. I told her that the coupon is for Brink OR Hunted but that I know if she'll scan it twice it will take $20 off each. I kinda mentioned that I called corporate this morning and they said to scan it twice :). She did what I asked and $21.49 later I have both games.

Well I was shot down trying to use the coupon on both games. I bought a mag for the coupon today since my subscription issue still hasnt arrived and picked up Brink. Once I get it I'll go back and pick up hunted also.[quote name='affa']xspellingxfailx

Got the subscription, Hunted and Brink for ps3 all in one transaction, no troubles at all, the dude just scanned the coupon twice, PLUS he didnt take the coupon... so i still have it
 
hmm... so i assume gettin two copies of a game for 10 each wit one coupon ymmv too? might pick up hunted after i do some research into its multi (offline and online, etc) and after that, dependin on if my friend wants to pick it up wit me
 
Just came back from BB. Got both games with one coupon scanned twice, single transaction, no hassle. Seriously, the only thing the guy said was "did you want a bag for that?"
 
Already have Brink and not interested in Hunted but all the coupons posted from the magazine makes me want a sub. Hopefully they'll have something good in the coming holiday months.
 
I was waiting in line with both Brink and Hunted. I figured I'd try and play dumb if they declined. As I waited for the guy in front of me to try 4 different credit cards that all got declined, an associate came by and said, "Oh yeah, I need to pick up another magazine so I can grab both of those" (motioning to the games in my hand). It wasn't worth a fight, so I left with Hunted and put Brink back.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt since he is a newbie but the first rule of any good CAG is to just do it and not ask if you can do it. You act like everything should work until they insist you cannot do something. Never ask for permission. Take your games up. Hand them the coupon and if they are confused say scan it twice. If they say they can't, insist it works. Until they outright say no or you need a 2nd mag you just keep pushing forward.
 
i don't get how people get the mag on a sunday. mail carriers don't deliver on sundays here. is it diff for other states? plus we had the hurricane yesterday, sucks i wouldn't even have the possible of a mag till tomorrow.
 
How is Hunted? Is it just a gears of war ripoff with magic, or is something different? I would be in for hunted for $15 if it wasn't just some generic action game.

mail doesn't deliver anywhere in the US on Sunday. Either people received their mag sometime before today or they're buying it in-store
 
Got hunted demons forge with an issue of the magazine for $15. The cashier could not get the price down in one transaction and a supervisor was watching so I skipped brink. Said she had to take the coupon but then she just put the magazine in my bag knowing that it would work later. Nice cashier.
 
I still haven't received my subscription in the mail even though I subscribed back in July. I emailed customer service when it didn't arrive yesterday when I heard of others receiving there mags in the mail. They emailed me back after a day saying this:

Thank you for contacting @Gamer.
Please allow until September 1, 2011 for delivery of your September 2011 issue.

If you have not received your magazine at that time, please contact us and your subscription will be extended or the issue replaced.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

So today, I went up to my BB, and grabbed the last copy of Hunted (PS3) that appeared to be on the shelves. They must have had 15-20 copies of Brink, but I passed on that.

The guy in the game section happened to be the same dude that rang me up back in July when I subscribed, checked with a manager and said I could buy the game now for $30 and bring back my coupon (when it arrives) and receipt and get the $20 credited back to me.

Good enough for me, but I will wait until I get the credit before I actually open the game...

Yeah my plan is if my local BB goes OOS I will order it online for site to store and then just do a return and rebuy with the coupon. Not going to sweat it too much over these games.
 
went in with brink and hunted in hand told lady really didn't want 2 magazines so she scanned coupon twice made me pay for 0 mags and got mag for free. she thought I brought it in lol.
 
hunted and brink both suck. i platted both. if anything id go brink because i like the style/story/gameplay more, but it's all bots. hopefully this changes that. hunted was just horrible horrible, but that's cuz i had to play through twice looking for all the crystals. ugh. both are worth picking up for a rental then flip back to amazon/bb tiv, but not keepers... just my opinion.

Yeah I am not running out the door to get either. I rented Brink before the update and did not like it. I do wonder how much the update has helped this game. People who have it now need to report if it is as frustrating as before. I do not know much about Hunted so if I have time to get it I will still pay $10.

As far as bj stucker getting a "free" magazine I have to agree it was just plain old theft. Just because she never asked you if it was from the store does not mean you should not have to pay for it. I guess you think if you open a soda at the grocery store and they don't ask you if you brought it in then it is all good too. Some people. This Cheap Ass Gamer...not Steal Ass Gamer.
 
Got a copy of hunted. it had good reviews and it'll sell pretty close to $10 if i hate it.

Amazon is still giving $15 for the 360 version if you trade with them. You could lock the price and if you hate it then no harm.
 
i got the update for brink and the free dlc and eh. 100% was easy.
it added 2 new stages, raised level cap from 20-24, and a new general skill and a special skill per class, but eh.
and 2 new weapon attachments, bayonet(ta) and front shield, both eh.
i was hoping the update was gonna do more, but really just more of the same. hopefully you got the brink dlc downloaded for free tho if you are gonna get this game. if you didn't get it for free, then be sure not to pay for it, not worth a penny. peace all
 
I had the magazine, Hunted, and Brink in my hand. I couldn't seem to go to the register with them. Maybe if I didn't have to buy the book. I found it funny that every single copy of Hunted and Brink at my store all had the sticker of the top to not sell before release date which means 4 months later, all these launch copies are still there. Explains the coupons now.

i noticed that too! all the copies the BB i went to had the launch stickers on it too. HILARIOUS. but im having fun with Brink, it kinda reminds me of Counter strike, but different gunplay.

I appreciate the OP posting this deal.

Having said that, I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on Hunted -- basically, it's a mediocre to terrible game. There are SO many better titles in this genre. If you must play a H&S, I'd even recommend N3 or N3 II -- both of which are also terrible, but IMHO leaps and bounds better than Hunted.

I suppose I'm now at a point where my gaming time is very limited, and I'm much more inclined to invest that time with the best titles. For $10, you can get games like Sin & Punishment, Muramasa, or even Champions on PS2. Those are just better games you can play.

Hunted looked promising and I was very intrigued, but as the bad reviews came out, I tried before I bought (a friend of mine picked it up), and boy, was it bad.

You can get Gears of War 1 or 2 for $10 used -- which BTW if you're looking for cover shooters are better off getting.

I take it you didn't like Muramasa; my point is for $10 you can get a much better executed title. Sure, Muramasa is H&S but in terms of gameplay, story, and presentation, it's significantly better than Hunted. While everyone is entitled to their opinion on this, I would be hard-pressed to believe someone who really played both would say he/she had more fun with Hunted over Muramasa.

Hunted is just a bad game; while people here are happy to spend $10-15 for this, all I'm saying is you can do much better ... that is, unless you own all the other AAA titles.

I beat Muramasa and really did not like it. There were some nice boss fights but I did have more fun with Hunted than it. Not to say Hunted is spectacular, but I certainly found it fun for something unique.

I will say Hunted opens with a rather lousy first impression if you try to start in co-op. The tutorial is SP only which is dumb as hell. And dropping you into that dreary town to be CONSTANTLY surprised by how aggressive those wargar are is a little silly. And I really wouldn't say Hunted works as a hack and slash. It's somewhere between Gears and a proper hack and slash. The swordplay feels like a means to an end when you should be plinking stuff with bows or spellslinging.

A bit of a shame, really, as H:TDF is largely something I've wanted in a game for a while: A dungeon crawler RPG that goes full in on action, player skill gameplay with very little in the way of numbers.

Mitigating factor: I am the sort of dummy who found something to like in Golden Axe Beast Rider, so there you go. Maybe it's me, not you, who has the malfunction.
 
I brought the Gamer magazine up to a female cashier and said "I'd like to subscribe to this."

Girl said, "I don't think you can subscribe to it, you just buy that one for $5."

I said, "No, I read somewhere that I should be able to subscribe to it for $15."

Girl said, "You'd have to show me where it says that, cuz I dunno. I'll have to call somebody from the gaming section to ask."

So she calls for somebody and a guy comes up saying he needs to get some kind of form to fill out. So I wait at the cashier for like 10 minutes and the guy never shows up. So, I decide to go over to the gaming section to find this guy, and apparently he's pretty busy helping several customers. He recognizes me and gets me setup after spending another 5 minutes looking for an app on his phone (he said he can't find the form on the computer) to do the subscription. When I asked if I could get both Brink and Hunted w/ the coupon, he said no. I asked if he could scan the coupon twice and he said he'd get in trouble. So, I ended up getting only Hunted :(
 
Does anyone know the page number that the subscription bar code is on?

I've gone in before with plans to subscribe when using a coupon only to end up buying the magazine because the CS rep didn't know I could subscribe and I didn't find the page with the subscription bar code till I was home.
 
I think hunted is okay. Not garbage. Controls are solid, graphics are okay. gets the fundamentals right at least. I haven't played enough to really judge but it doesn't seem broken as some people are saying.

Better than a lot of $10 games out there. There are a lot of bad XBLA games that are $10 or more.
 
I was able to grab a copy of Hunted, and I've been wanting it since launch so thanks OP :) I actually wanted 2 so I could give one to a friend to play coop with but they refused to scan the coupon twice. Odd part is they didn't take the coupon.
 
They did not take the coupon from me as well, I assume I can re-use it at another Best Buy, anybody know if the coupon is single use tied to your reward zone membership?

It is not. You got lucky. I ended up buying two copies of the magazine and she took both coupons! If it wasn't for the fact they only had one copy of Hunted left I would of came back later hoping for the girl that would of tried to scan the same coupon twice.
 
Well my plan worked. I copied my coupon from the Gamer mag. I scanned BOTH images (front and back) then printed the front off, took that print, and put it BACK in my printer (to do the back side) and printed that as well. Then I took the original, and me AND my GF both were able to use the coupons. I still have the scans saved on my PC.

Does that make sense?

I didnt get to play either game, and quite honestly - my backlog is like 45-50 games deep. These, for $10 were a great deal however. I dont think I have paid full price for a game, and at $10-$20 is my perfect price range, for newer releases. I will end up paying $40 for GoW3 though for xbox.
