*DEAD* Circuit City mistake - 5 dollar games!! (YMMV)

Please delete that image above.. please. Thanks..

Anyways, all this talking about #2 packages with a bunch of other guys is making me uncomfortable. I just woke up, so $5 games at CC - yay or nay? The overall vibe i'm getting is nay, but I just wanted to make sure.

YMMV. It rings up that way, but people are saying they won't let them sell for that low.

Go into your local CC and pick up any Players Choice or Greatest hits game and have the tard there ring it up using package #2 (The one for Platinum hits, etc.). They will all ring up for 5$, not $15 like they are supposed to!!

Have fun!
EDIT:i took that link out... some people might have epilipsy browsing the site... that would such ~stealthyseal
FYI

This seems crazy to me too, although I could probably get away with it at my Circuit City. Remember when they mispriced The Sims 2 at $39.99 on launch week? The ad said it also came with a $10 gift card. My Circuit City not only did that, but accidentally used the $10 towards the purchase AND gave me a $10 gift card. They refused to take it back and argued with me when I pointed out their mistake.

I don't like taking advantage of the stupidity of others, but when they're stubborn AND stupid, that's another story. I'll try going there tomorrow to give it a try and confirm if it works at all.

just cause it MIGHT ring up at 5 each good luck making the people sell them to you at that price. THey will call the manager and they will say ooo something happen. I say you will be lucky to see 10 peopel out of a million walk away with 5 buck games.... Not worth my time driving over there getting in the mess and risk 30 bucks to see if i can get 5 buck games.... ALso with all the Best buy 5 buck games i got and the 4 games i got at ebgames today ( Disney mirror , Tony hawk 4 and Super pop for 5 each and Turok for 1.99 ) like i said not worth the trouble or risk to go

The deal is definately good. I made a killing today. Picked up Ratchet and Clank: GC
Jak 2
Mario Golf
Animal Crossing
Final Fantasy X-2
and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

6 games for 30 and some change :)
I went to two different Circuit City locations and the cashier rang them both up with no problems.
The actual deal supposedly goes something like this: CC has Greatest Hits-Platinum Hits-or Players Choice for 2 for $30....."Save $15 instantly when you buy any 2 advertised video games ($29.99 and up)."

Avertised Games:

PS2-
Ace Combat 04
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
NBA Street 2
Rise of Honor
Jak 2
Midnight Club II
Simpsons Hit and Run
Need for Speed Underground

Xbox-
Star Wars: Nights of the Old Republic
True Crime: Streets of LA
Medal of Honor: Frontline
Midnight Club II
Counter Strike

Gamecube-
Zelda: Windwalker
Super Mario Sunshine
Animal Crossing
Luigi's Manison
Finding Nemo
So it's not all GH? I wanna try getting Namco Museum and R&C for $10.

No. Its for more than the advertised games. On the cover of the ad it says over 60 titles to choose from.

Did you have to request that the cashier ring it up any differently or did they just ring it up as usual and you got the deal?

She just rang them up like that? You didn't say anything?

...damn you guys... damn you all... :p I'm going to go and see right now... it's only 15 minutes, what have I got to lose? And if it doesn't work, I'll just buy two and see if they accept the BB coupon on the PC games... I'll likely get Animal Crossing and F Zero... but if this DOES work (which I still am iffy on), I'll 'politely' see if I can add some more games to my haul... see, what the problem with these deals is that most of [you all] go up with half the store and say 'LOL, $5 per game! Rawk on!', when sometimes it pays to be subtle... aww who am I kidding? If this works, I'll drop a few dollars on more games than I need...

Ok guys i just got conframation from the CC i work at the deal is but 2 games that are 19.99 and get them 2 for 10 . i just called and asked my coworker. if you need to know i work at the circuit city n Marrero,LA.

So let me get this straight... CC is selling $40 worth of games for $10? And if so, do you have to purchase them two at a time, or can you go up there with as many as you can carry and still get them all for $5 each? :?

you have to buy in multiples of two (2,4,6,8 etc.)

What if I ask them to price check it before I buy it? It'll ring up as $19.99 won't it? Is there any way I can make sure I'll get them for $5 before it rings up to be $200 worth of games I didn't want to pay that much for.

very ymmv. The *glitch* was active at the Tallahassee CC, but the clerk (and manager) refused to sell them to me at 4.99.

The Tally CC is run by a bunch of jackasses though, so other CAGers around here might have better luck than me.

How about not taking all of the games available and just getting a few you really want. That way you leave games for others and you don't feel like a dork when they say you can't have them all.

its confirmed here My cousin did this around 1pm today BUT they got a manager or someone standing right there to correct the price. THey got HOt shot golf 3 and another game and it came up 10 bucks but they then put a keycard in and changed the price to 30 by hand..

Yeah, that's what I had planned to do. I'm low on money as it is. I don't have the funds to horde games. I was just using $200 as an example. If it did ring up at $5 a piece, I still would probably only get 2 or 4.

From what I've read it seems only two people have posted that they were actually able to buy them for the five dollar price, it seems most people are reporting there is a glitch then the manager comes and gives an override

That's what I am worried about, bringing up 2 or 4 games to the register, only to have them say they won't sell them for $5, I still plan to try though.
I work at CC and package number 2 is when we have a promo package options come up before you can even ring the item up. Package 1 is usually just selling the item as is and package 2 is when you are ringing up a promotion. I don't work until tomorrow morning so I can't confirm until then.
If zewone confirms it, I'll believe it's a real "deal" and system mistake.

Though I haven't tried this and now I won't, I definetely agree with you on the second paragraph.

So is this a glitch in their system because I thought it was buy two $19.99 for $30. I'm hestistant to try this but I've been meaning to get Project Gotham 2 and Xenosaga for a while now

This is for real. I just picked up Animal Crossing, 007: EON, Simpsons: HaR, and Jak II for $20. The discount is automaticaly applied. Sorry for the preemptive seizure everyone. I will be giving out little hugs for all those I hurt!

The deal is suppose to be 2 for $30, but yeah its a glitch.

Well it looks like there may be some truth to what the OP said. I was confused about his post though- the business of the #2 button or whatever but it looks like his post may be legit.

I already have too many games. I dont feel like taking a chance over at CC with the manager and all so I think I will take a pass on this (potential) deal.

$29.99 and up, though. That wouldn't apply to Greatest Hits, would it?

Anyone have a list of GH or PC games available?
Check out their forums.
Heh heh, oops. I guess i shoulda checked there first. Thanks.

On page 2 of this thread, I posted a confirmation. THIS is my real s/n, now that I'm home, and I confirm what I said earlier. I'm not a Cheap Ass Regular yet, but eh, close enough. Anywho I made another thread posting what I got.

This is an active deal. I went up with 2 games to see if it would work, it did, and then I came back with 4 more games that I've been wanting to get for some time. The #2 button is simply the button pressed to activiate the PC/Plantinum/Greatest Hits Deal.

GA CAG checking in...

I hate to admit it, but it worked, at least it did at the Duluth, GA CC location. I got Manhunt, SSX3, NBA Street Vol 2, Midnight Club II, F Zero GX, and Animal Crossing. No manager overrides or anything. She rang me up and I was out the door with no incident. And the key here, guys, is to be SUB-TLE... don't go with 50 damn games, hell, don't even ASK for a price check (it brings on some suspicion by the cashiers). Just have them ring it up and pay for it and go. And what doesn't ring off as for the sale, politely say you had second thoughts. I'm working on getting my receipt posted for visual confirmation.

Exactly. I went up with 2 games that are technically Player's Choice, but these copies didn't have the label on them. Everything else was ringing up for $5, so I asked them to remove those games from the purchase and I was on my way. Like Fatesealer said, don't be greedy and make a commotion about this.

Any chance we're going to get screwed out of our purchases. I vote that if there is a return mandate that we can exchange the games for porn!
