*DEAD* Circuit City mistake - 5 dollar games!! (YMMV)

My guess of the mistake.

The reduction should be $5 off the games, knocking the price to $15.

Someone loaded it into the computer and did it as a mistake to know $15 OFF the price, which has it go down to $5. Simple typo.

Just my $0.02 guess on why it happened.
 
Sucks too - there was quite a bit of stuff I would've picked up on this deal.

In truth, I feel that the purchase is made and I'm not returning anything... how are they going to contact me for a return anyway? But in hindsight I ALSO feel that somewhere, someone is REALLY going to fuck this up for everyone... I got my 6, and I may try for 6 more tomorrow, but that's it... this will not be CC $5 sale all over again...
 
It works... who would've thought. I went and picked up 6 games for $30. Not only did the people at my CC know about it, they were exploiting it too. One of the girls that work at CC came up and even flirted with me and told me that there was a glitch and that the games are ringing up 2 for $10. I acted all surprised and did some recon. Apparantly its only GH, PC, or PH, and only ones that are $19.99. I asked her to price check a Super Smash Bros. Melee that was a $29.99 PC, but it came out $24.99. Anyway, thanks OP! And if anyone still needs confirmation, I'll scan the receipt upon request. I'm just too lazy to do it unless someone needs it.

What sucks is I just came back from Circuit City, bout to buy jak II but realized that it was 2 for 30... I might go back w/ a friend

Just go to CC, pick up two or four (must be an even number, don't ask :D )GH or PC (player's choice) titles and hope the cashier doesn't notice the mistake of giving you each game for only $5.
 
Just Went to CC in Salem NH and Cashier there was telling all her friends when I happened by, she cionfirmed the glitch said she had bought 6 herself so I went ahead and picked up 8 games

Damn it is any 2 $20 games! I only bought the Greatest hits games...

I might have to go back tomorrow and get some games! :)

Oh and don't buy more than 12 games the computer has a limit of 12 games per customer. It kicked an error out when she rang up my 13th game on my second order.
 
love how people think this isnt ripping the store off when you know its an error yet you take all you can get , while the people who got the 5 buck sears 5 buck Ace com 5 was totally ripping off the store... And how people who are running out and buying the Hoilday demo 2004 to get the free game from sony is ripping sony off cause they know of the BUG , But they know of the bug at CC but take it for all the can..


Good luck to all that get them i now have around 40 sealed games from the CC sale, BB sale (this last week) and the Ebgames Pick up today and i really cant even find 2 games even for 10 that i would really need to play (already got AC mario golf and Zelda on the cube)

No... these are done on seperate days and purchases... if I was going up to the counter with 20 at a time, and coming back and forth with a new haul, drawing attention, it'd be different... what I meant by effing this up would be the eventual CC employee/customer that gets wind of this and goes beyond the call of duty to exploit this...

It is, plain and simple...but taking advantage of this is tempting. The games are a quarter of their normal price, and 75% off is pretty darn good in any case.

Something tells me that the sale won't be around for much longer; for all we know, the "deal" could be over by tomorrow.

a lot of people have not had this work for them... i say its a 50/50 split depends who your dealing with. If you got a normal worker back there you got a good chance of getting them, but if you got a manager or a higher up who knows the price is wrong you wont get them.

Tomorrow I shall try a CC near my university but I would still like to know if this works with non-GH games cuz I want to get MAT1 and Atari Anthology too.

I got Harvest Moon and Sonic Adeventure 2: Battle for 5 bucks each at the CC in Ann Arbor, MI

The cashier knew it had to be a glitch, but sold it to me anyway as he said "it's not my fault... I just stock the games" with a wink. He speculated it would be fixed by tomorrow morning though... and I think the only reason he put it through for me was because there was no one else around to object.

As others have said earlier in the thread... PLEASE do not got up there with a stack of games and tell the cashier what to do... try to be very subtle and "out of the loop" on this one... this is a glitch, not a sale, being low key and polite will definately help you get in on it, the more overt and greedy you are, the higher your chances of getting shot down become (and ruining the deal for everyone else in your area).

I believe the computer system will always ring this deal up at the moment. The problem is some local managers of stores have noticed and are stopping the deal. :(

I just went to my CC ddown the street from me... i was hestiate at first so i just tried two games:

Sonic Collection Plus (PS2)
Mario Golf (GC)

i brought it to the register and the guy ranged it, and it shows up at 19.99 but then when he ranged the 2nd game, it said discount 20.00 and the price next to the game was 4.99... i dont think he cared and sold it to me...

so after that i went back in a few mins later, too some games that i wanted and had him ranged them up again ^^ i had 6 games this time and it still was 4.99 for each one. this time i got:

Luigi's Mansion
Wario World
Soul Caliber 2
Kirby Air Ride
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

Me neither... I WAS AT TARGET and I didn't know about this... :(. Hopefully it'll work until tommarow. Otherwise, I'm so sad.
 
lolz whoever was imputing this price into the CC Computer Pricing System must of forgot the 1 in front of 4.99 =P thats my asumption
 
i havent actually gone to the store yet, but i was just looking in the print ad for the 2 for 30 deal that apparantly is the cause of the glitch.... anyway the fine print at the bottom says there is a limit of 3 games per customer (which is weird since its 2 for 30) but i just wanted to point that out because some people might get the shaft if they try to get over 3 games, but im sure this is YMMV or YMMSA (your manager might suck ass)
