<DEAD> Dark Souls Hardcover Guide by Future Press $13.74 at Amazon OOS
That's certainly not the case in this part of PA. Stores pretty much only received CEs for preorders. Every store has plenty of vanilla versions, though.
Hmmmm. That's weird then.

The guide is back in stock on Amazon; I placed an order when it was OOS and just received an e-mail saying it is ready to ship.

How long ago did you order? I just placed my order a day or two ago and it hasn't shipped yet. Assuming that you didn't order just yesterday I'm guessing that they are filling earlier orders first as they get more copies in.

I'm going through the game pretty slowly so hopefully I won't be too far before the guide arrives. I was sort of torn about ordering it because I didn't want to spoil the game too much but it sounds like it's really high quality and that it'll likely end up getting pretty rare so I might as well grab it now while I still can, right?
In case anyone is wondering. Gamestop took my amazon guide in without problem, but I did save the new sticker from the one I got at GS and put it on the amazon one in the upper right hand corner
I did the same yesterday. I really, really wanted to keep the Amazon copy though since it's pages are flat. Like a few others here, my copy from GS has the top and bottom of each page all wavy (really noticeable when book is closed). It's a minor issue, but it's annoying OCD-wise.

I talked to Customer Service a little while back, on the shipment details. Since they really didn't know, they gave me $5 credit towards the guide. Getting the guide for $9.52? Totally worth it.
Nice, I just got an e-mail saying that my shipment will be here on the 19th.
Thats Great news, I'm still waiting on Amazon to ship mine. I had ordered mine from them on the 8th, I guess they are only shipping a little at a time.

i ordered 1 but after waiting 5 days and it not shipping i decided to cancel i see that gamestop is selling it for 15$ online only so maybe ill order from their site

I'm pretty sure that's the case for most stores. A couple of employees I spoke to were even complaining because they wanted to sell the CE on shelves but they only received 3-4 copies for pre-orders.

Got the same email notification, here's hoping they come in good shape!

Email from Amazon this morning.......

Hello,

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on October 09 2011 (Order# ):

Future Press "Dark Souls The Official Guide"
Estimated arrival date: December 01 2011 - December 06 2011

EDIT: I ordered it with a pre-order so I think that is affecting the date. In the past, Amazon has shipped the available item separately, so hopefully that happens this time. My estimated date is probably not typical.
Jodou, weren't you a huge Demon's Souls fan? You don't like this one or something? I'm surprised you're taking advantage of the infinite souls glitch.

I'll admit, I cheesed bosses when I first played Demon's Souls, but I recently did an all melee run through of the game to get ready for Dark Souls and it wasn't that bad. I'm not using a guide for my first playthrough but I will for my second so I don't miss anything for trophies.
I love both games. As I already said twice now, I already beat the game legit so now I just want to have some fun getting the trophies without the tedium of struggling through NG+. If the game were shorter then I probably wouldn't have exploited yet, but since it is fairly long I just can't see myself wasting that much time when BF3 is a week and change away. Next year when things quiet down I'll probably come back to it to see where people are at with PvP.
Yeah, you have to be alive to summon friendly phantoms in Demon's Souls (Dark Souls, too).

Look for a blue sign on the ground. When you touch it it will give you the option to summon someone into your world. After they appear you're free to explore the area until you reach the boss and fight it together. Most people don't leave their sign at the start of an area, but 1-4 does seem to be the sole exception. The majority of the signs you'll find will be in front of a fog gate before a boss battle.
I was kinda disappointed From didn't add a "signal flare" type soul sign in Dark Souls that you can drop down like a beacon as a human for the hollowed players to touch and jump into their world. I would like to play coop from time to time but it can be aggravating waiting around for someone to grab my soul sign. That would have made it easier for humans to collect friendly phantoms for boss fights.

From the FuturePress Facebook page:

Here is an update on the stock situation of the Dark Souls guide. All remaining units that we've printed in the first run have arrived at retailers (UK) or are on its way to them (US). So, we are officially out of stock. BUT, due to the high demand we have decided to reprint. We expect the new stock being delivered to retailers end of the month, so we kindly ask you for your patience.
On an unrelated note, we are overwhelmed by the positive feedback and the flattering comments (emails, forum posts, articles – yes, we're reading them all). Thank you!

Anyone know if gamestop prices matches their site? I called a local store and they said they had it for 24.99, but wouldn't honor the online price of 14.99. Is there anyway I can buy it online and in-store pickup for the same price?

Nope, GS has the worst pricing policies in the industry IMO. No price matching of any kind. Not with their website, with a previous purchase to price match with a current sale/price drop they have in store (some stores will do this but it is YMMV). Nada, zip, zero.

Well i beat the game after 60 hours. I had to sell it too. I needed some distance from it and unlike demons souls i just had no interest in new game plus this time. Of course i have a sealed guide book sitting here...no clue what to do with it now.

Glad I got in an order last night - it was in my Gold Box picks so I got it for $13.05 shipped. Of course, no idea when it will actually ship. I am probably going to start playing the game tonight.

Thanks to whoever posted that Gamestop.com is having a sale too. I cancelled my Amazon order and ordered it from Gamestop this morning and it shipped out a couple hours later! The Amazon deal is dead but it looks like Gamestop hasn't noticed yet so grab it quick! You do have to pay shipping but it's still a really good deal, especially if you're a Power Up Rewards member as you get 10% off.

That's mainly due to the moronic new way of searching for players, that along with poor netcode. Anyway, old way was something like 10 above or below your current level & now it's 10% of your current level.
flamelurker was overly hard for that early in the game without summoning a ton of people, and the king you'd cheese because losing a SL from soulsucker was bullshit.
- Purple flame shield or not standing around like an idiot defenseless, pick your poison.
- Bullshit? Maybe you should pay close attention to his hand as he takes forever to charge then up, kinda hard to miss that =\

Maybe you should stick to brown & bloom shooters like CoD & the like, they're made for people like yourself.

i lost a ton of levels from soulsucker. but even worse was i would lose so many levels when i would phantom invade someones game and then fall off the ledge. FAIL!
