<DEAD> Dark Souls Hardcover Guide by Future Press $13.74 at Amazon OOS
Yeah, I caught that not long after removing the shrink wrap.
Whatever my Deus Ex long Sword is now a +50 demon after reading this guide
I'm not even gonna approach this game without a guide.
That takes so much of the fun out of the experience, though.

I plan to get one of these guides after I beat the game at least once.

most of the time i'd agree with you but this guide looks really cool and I don't want to just look it up online either when I get stuck. And I guess all the warnings about how hard this game is is making me apprehensive.

Well I'm about 30+ hours in and have died a few hundred times. The only thing a guide will help with is item location and I'm guessing some sort of explanation for the more mysterious aspects of the game.

The game is very difficult, but it's not impossible by any means. Just keep your wits about you and be very patient and you'll reap the rewards.

Hopefully the people who got themselves multiple copies of this will think of trading one with me. I need to get rid of these penny guides somehow.

I got the guide but i'm not using the walkthrough until NG+.

I may miss some items and such but i'm not about to ruin one of the best games of the gen for myself.
Mine still haven't shipped yet. WTF amazon?
Amazon is really fucked up right now, not sure what the issue is. My brother ordered a copy an hour before I decided to save the $7 and return my GS copy and mine has already arrived while his is still shipping soon. It's not an issue of address either, because we're within minutes of each other. There may be some truth to high spenders having their orders ship first, sadly.

As someone who enjoyed the linearity of Demon's Souls I'm more apt to use the guide for Dark Souls considering all the hidden paths and "what should I do next moments." Personally its not ruining the game for me by using the Wiki

I used the guide for maps mainly when I got stuck. That or if I found something I really want like a weapon, I'd track it down in the guide and go get it.

I dare anyone to resist using it when they get to tomb of giants though. That place can go to hell lol.

Hopefully the guide tells us where to get an unlimited supply of cracked red eye stones since I wasted the only 4 I found in 25 hours so far due to "failed invasions." Lame

Or when fighting Ornstein and Smough...most epic boss fight ever.
ordered 3.

One to use, One to keep sealed, and one to possibly trade in the future.
Rofl you guys just LOVE wasting your money, don't you?:lol::lol::applause::applause::applause:

Not a waste at all. He'll probably be able to sell one one day and pay for all of them. I already did that so the one I currently have plus the one I just ordered to keep sealed are basically free.

I wonder if Dark Souls has a glitch in it like Demon's Souls did or at least the import version did anyway. Before they patched it, you could use the import version of Demon's Souls to farm unlimited souls by making two characters/profiles. You could die with character a, yet load in character b's save and pick up character a's souls and what not that they had dropped.

Rinse and repeat until you had a shitton of souls.
How do I initiate that boss battle? I've been to Londo, but all I fought at the top of the tower was a gargoyle.
you should look at the strategy guide ;)
haha, don't think I didn't think about that when I posted.

Touche.
lol well I would tell you, but I haven't gotten that far yet (22 hours in).

Btw, this guide hasn't ruined the game at all for me. I guess it might ruin what boss is coming up exactly, but that doesn't really bother me. I only ever really use it when I get stuck tho. Some of the area maps are just too hard to read to use anyway (ahem Blighttown ahem)

It has an even easier one that only requires a stamina regen boosting item, dragon head stone, and a consumable soul item. I'm SL405 right now after using about 2 billion souls.

:applause:So I take it bosses die in one hit when you're at such a high level, huh? Or at the least you have every major weapon or could buy every major weapon to make the game insanely easy.

Unfortunately that's only an online price, Bawse. So if someone wanted to go in store and grab one they would be SOL, since I don't think GS will match their own website.

For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want to ruin an amazing game like this by cheating their way into a bunch of souls. But I guess for those that get off on that, more power to ya.

You just have more margin for error is all.

Because that's how I wanna play the game. I want a challenge, but I also want to enjoy myself whilst playing the game. I still have Demon's Souls in my backlog and I died hundreds of times between that copy and the import copy I had before. I was still enjoying myself while I was learning what to do in each part of the game, but if I can find a way to play the game that'll give me an edge I may not have otherwise then I'll do it.;)

For me getting items that make the game fun is why I use the WIKI. I loved Demon's souls but had way more fun the second time around crafting weapons etc that I figured out via the Wiki etc.
I shot the Maneater through the fog, do a running Firestorm, glitch out the Flamelurker, and used arrows on the False King.
Fixed.
Fixed.
Each of those had a legit reason though. Maneater was only hard because of the camera and small platform, flamelurker was overly hard for that early in the game without summoning a ton of people, and the king you'd cheese because losing a SL from soulsucker was bullshit.

Yeah, good catch. They want to compete against Amazon et al online. But not against themselves in-store. Makes sense. Too bad, though - I would've canceled my Amazon order if I could've gotten it for $14.99.

I can't imagine it was much of a challenge if you were soul level 400. :) But hey to each his own. And besides, I'm just glad to hear that people are playing the Souls games rather than a lot of the other stuff that's out there. Kudos to everyone in this thread!

*Oops I see it was Judou that was 400, but whatever. :)

Jodou, weren't you a huge Demon's Souls fan? You don't like this one or something? I'm surprised you're taking advantage of the infinite souls glitch.

I'll admit, I cheesed bosses when I first played Demon's Souls, but I recently did an all melee run through of the game to get ready for Dark Souls and it wasn't that bad. I'm not using a guide for my first playthrough but I will for my second so I don't miss anything for trophies.

Maneaters are way easy once you get the tail off. Not to mention that you can hide by the lighted area to heal/regain footing. Flamelurker is tough, but has easily predictable patterns that leave you enough time to get in your hits. The same can be said for the False King. If you can't figure out that having his glowing hand lunging at you is a bad thing, you deserve to lose the soul level.

How do you summon people? Do you have to be online? (You are talking about demons souls right?)
How do you summon people? Do you have to be online? (You are talking about demons souls right?)
Yeah, you have to be alive to summon friendly phantoms in Demon's Souls (Dark Souls, too).

Look for a blue sign on the ground. When you touch it it will give you the option to summon someone into your world. After they appear you're free to explore the area until you reach the boss and fight it together. Most people don't leave their sign at the start of an area, but 1-4 does seem to be the sole exception. The majority of the signs you'll find will be in front of a fog gate before a boss battle.

In case anyone is wondering. Gamestop took my amazon guide in without problem, but I did save the new sticker from the one I got at GS and put it on the amazon one in the upper right hand corner

I'm looking to sell the dark souls ce and guide for 80 shipped. The guide is still sealed. Pm me if interested. I definitely don't have the patience for this game.

The one manager I'm friendly with at GS said that they ONLY received copies of the CE version of Dark Souls and said that that appeared to be the same across the entire chain.

So for now if you go into a GS store looking for DS you will likely be finding the CE version.

That's certainly not the case in this part of PA. Stores pretty much only received CEs for preorders. Every store has plenty of vanilla versions, though.
Really? I talked to a rep yesterday and she said it'll be back in stock on the 17th.
Well thats better news. Just linking to the whatever random dude said on interwebz

I'd love to get mine by next friday
