400 out of 1300 KBtoys stores will no longer be selling games and will be clearing out their inventory. [news story]
*It appears that these stores are already selling games at 20% off.

*Starting this Saturday, December 20th, the remaining stores will be have a clearance sale which includes the deals listed below.

*I read on Fatwallet that some stores are simply going out of business and are having even bigger sales. I have started to list those stores as well (thanks FW).

Call your local store to see which sale they are particapting in and if you wish, email me the results at [email protected] and I will keep the list updated.
jt2k3 has suggested that some employees may not talk about the sale until Friday.

Very classy, Cheapy ;)

And as for the list of stores: Its gonna be impossible considering i didn'tget sent a list.

Wait until Friday to call stores, as well... Then the employees might be willing to talk.

Just so you know, It wasn't me who posted it.
Anyway, I will add your "Friday calling advice" to the top post.

I was at bestbuy last night, with $10 of gift certificates. Nearly put Otogi in my cart, and then stopped myself remembering it wasn't even on sale, and it probably would be someday soon.

Granted, I didn't think it would be this soon ;-)

:x Figures I own a GC only and the deals for it suck!! Does anyone have the full list or can link to it or something or just GC or give me an idea at least of what 50$ games are gonna go for I wanna get Zelda WW and Soul Calibur 2 for 20 bucks each....yea right  but who knows.

we now know the reason for the sale -- it's been confirmed

http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6085760.html

"Reuters is reporting that KB Toys, one of America's biggest toy retailers, has decided to stop selling video games in 400 of its 1300 stores, just over 30 percent of its locations. "

So basically, if your store is one of the 400, it will have the sale-- or so it would seem.

I'm thinking the store by me will be one of the 400 because its right next door to a gamestop, circuit city, and walmart. Fingers crossed.

I have so many games from deals on this site. So many I havent even opened yet, but whatever.

Are video game sales that bad for them that they have to stop selling them? That was the only reason I ever walked into their stores in probably 10 years since I don't buy toys and even if I did, they seem to be more expensive that stores like Target and Toys R Us. They occassionaly had a good video game deal like Ninja Assault with the Guncon 2 for $20 in the Spring.

Anyone got the full list of games?
Damn this deal is SICK. Major props to whoever found it first
fucking sick deal. Pardon language.

But how do you really feel?

Also:
I'd have to get it from work and scan it in to my computer... I'll try to get it to you guys for Friday
Great deals, I'll be checking my local KBToys for this. Thanks! There are maybe a couple of PS2 games I want, but I want to wait for a full(er) list before deciding to go.

Heh, I might plop down up to $40 on PS2 games, and I dont even have one yet. Of course, this all depends on my local store being one of the 300, AND getting there on time. Good thing I'm already headed over to that area on Saturday for a sale at the comic shop I go to. I'm gonna be broke after Christmas, but all on good deals :) I've gotten ONE game at full price this year for myself, instead of the majority like normal.

It would make my life complete if Skies of Arcadia legends was one of the cheap ones that didn't get posted. Must...have....Arcadia!

All stores should be involved in the clearance, only certain stores are going to stop carrying games (except Game Boy from what I understand all KB Toys will still carry Game Boy games). In all actuality (I don't have the paper in front of me so I could be wrong), stores that are no longer carrying games are having a blanket 20% off sales (excludes hardware) and stores that will still carry games are the one involved in the clearance. Again I could be wrong but I'm an assistant manager at a KB Toys in PA but from the memo we received last week this some stores are having a 20% off sale and others are just having a clearance.

Interesting...the plot thickens.

I feel like I've died and went to cheapass heaven.

I promised myself I wouldn't be buying anymore games till about early Feb to catch up with my budget, but this deal is too hard to pass off.

Can someone kindly post this on Fatwallet and other deal sites and give credit to jt2k3 (and CAG, if you feel like it).
I know some other deal sites will do it (and take credit for it) if someone here doesn't do it first.

Thanks.
Why in the world would you want this, or any other deal, posted on FW. I would think you would know by now that it's the kiss of death for any deal.
Because VGtalk or other deal sites will post it anyway and take credit for it. You know its going to get there anyway, whether its tonight or tomorrow morning.
 Too slow for FW, but you probably now see my point.

Yay..I almost forgot Saturday is my birthday lol.. I'll be bummed if my KBtoys doesnt have this..

Interesting, definatly going to have to give the KB Toys in the Mall of America a call on Friday, I had to head up to that general area on Saturday so it all might work out. Hope that store is having this sale, I'd REALLY love to pick up Otogi and Brute Force for that price, as well as a few others that catch my eye.

Oh, and that one guy could be right that this is just a clearence on current games at ALL KB stores (in one way or another), because I remember when I bought my PS2 the KB Toys in the mall had a big sale an a large amount of their games, even though they have kept selling games until now. Almost all of the games were 50%, which is how I got MGS2 for $25 6 months after it was released (didn't drop in price until almost a year later). KB Toys has been known to put their old stuff on clearence before, so this wouldn't be so unusual for them.
Times like these I wish I had an Xbox too so I could take advantage of deals like that...soon as I sell my GC, I'll probably go for the X.
Some of these Xbox deals you should get even if you don't yet have an Xbox. Get PDO if it is available. You won't find a better price, and might have a problem with availability when you do get your box.
I was the one that posted it at FW, but I did give credit like Cheapy posted.
Great job. You've made us all proud. :D

Now...I've got to get me some Botaki!

If its posted in an Ad, bring it to another store and pricematch! At circuitcity, they give an additional 10% from the competitors differences, so if it was $50 and then $20 at KB, CC could possibly give it for $17! Woo-hoo!

A lot of the PM policies do not count clearance or liquidated stock, so YMMV.

Where did everyone get this ad? Is it in-store? I wonder because I called the local KB here in Manhattan and they said they are clearing out their videogame stock, but they also said the sale doesn't start until Sunday.

This isn't about Toys R Us, it's about KB Toys. And to answer your question, Kids R Us and Imaginarium do not carry games.
I was the one that posted it at FW, but I did give credit like Cheapy posted.
Thank you.

Now this is a great deal. But the odds are that 1 in every 3.5 stores is liquidating thier stock. Now if I only knew 4 stores near me.

I have four stores near me actually and your right its one of the stores thats doing it.

I just called and they have already started so you might want to make a check with your local store before saturday.

Called my local KB (Orlando, FL) and they told me ... their video game clearance sale started ... YESTERDAY!

At LEAST 20% off all video games. So if you excuse me, I have somewhere to go right now ...

Noise:

That is NOT my clearance sale.. Sorry. Thats for stores that are no longer carrying video games

Yes I have been thinking about that since its almost lunch here I am about to go.

What my guess is they are doing 20% off all games no until saturday when they are going to use the last saturday of christmas sales to do the push and clear all games out.

So. the deals you find at KB right now might not be the prices quoted.

I will report after lunch.

Jeez, I guess I didn't get enough sleep last night. Thanks for being gentle.
This isn't about Toys R Us, it's about KB Toys.
Hmm, I called my 3 closest KBs and asked them about the sale, and two of them (the York, PA locations) said that they are one of the 400 that are no longer going to be selling games. They are already doing the 20% off sale. Interestingly enough, when I called the Lancaster, PA store, they said that they will still be selling games, but that they are doing the $9.99-19.99 clearance. Maybe the 20% off sale is for the 400 stores, and the other thing is just a regular sale for all stores...

I just called the Columbia MD store and they are doing the Clearance Sale (Words she used) but it is only 20% off. They are not doing a $9.99 - $19.99 sale.

There is only one other store near me, and they are not answering the phone....

Take Care,
Matthew

just thought I'd throw this in the fire.........

Does anyone know about that little blue KB card they have at the register that you get stamped for every game you buy or something....?

Does anyone know if there will be a good way to take advantage of it while trying to grab all these awesome deals?

Just a thought.
