I bought the patience and time simply because it has arc damage. I have primary weapons with solar and void and several special weapons with solar and void as well. However, I am really lacking when it comes to arc damage. Prior to buying patience and time I only had a fusion rifle that does arc.
Yeah, that might be the reason I get it as well. I am lacking arc damage in everything except machine guns so if we get an Arc Burn Nightfall it would be nice to have something. I guess with so many coins I can pick it up - don't have to level it up all the way.

I still have my save point for the final boss. Im up to finish that tonight or start over.
I'm up for that or my save at the Gatekeeper if you guys don't mind backtracking one (hopefully quick) portion. I'm free tonight after the kids do their Halloween thing. So I imagine I'll be free around 8pm Pacific if you guys can hold off until then.

Or if you want to do a full Raid I'm up for that with my Hunter. I'd really like to snag more gear for my Warlock though. I can't see maintaining all 3 characters at max level for the duration of this game ;).

Also, on that cheesing video it shows something that I didn't know about until the other day. I didn't realize the Relic cleanse was also a shield you could shoot out of. Apparently a lot of people use that against Atheon (not for cheesing but just for regular shooting). We've always just spread apart and shot him from different places. But that way the Supplicants can wreak havoc on us. In any case, it looks like the cheese method is simply to bubble shield on the small platform near the beginning and he just comes towards you and falls off? We need to get a hard mode Atheon save and try that guys! Dude also got the helm and the Vex Mythoclast from that - lucky bastard.

Yeah, that's the way the groups I've been in have done it... at least when we weren't trying for the old Atheon cheese method :D .

And before the patch, the relic holder would count down 'til the end of the timer and everyone would bug out with about 3 seconds left in order to have your teleport team in position.

Now with the random teleport, everyone should just stay in the bubble until the bubble juice runs out, then scatter. It may only be a few seconds difference but those extra seconds of AMP'd weapons could mean one less teleport.

What I don't know for sure is the amount of damage multiplier you get from shooting inside the relic bubble, as in is it consistent across ALL weapon types.

I want to say it's a 6x multiplier because my maxed Ice Breaker would do 2k+ on crit hits, but the same shot from inside the bubble would ping 13k+

I haven't tried with other weapons cuz well... there's so little time to go swapping weapons.

I am down to at least finish the raid we started the other day. Or we could start from io checkpoint. I don't really want to do the full raid again as I don't have any other characters yet so I could make way for others once I finished. I still would like to try hard at some point too. What time tonight are we thinking?

Wait, so there's also a bonus from shooting inside the bubble? Or is it just a Time's Vengeance bonus? FYI - I was getting 20,000+ hits with my Icebreaker (during Time's Vengeance) from a corner nowhere near the Relic holder.

I'm not sure the bubble helps with attack but I guess it keeps you from getting hit by Atheon and supplicants which would be the real advantage. I never knew it was a shield and/or that you could shoot out of it. I thought it was just a cleanser.

i will be available for raids in next 20 min.

my hunter is up to gatekeepers and my titan can do a fresh run.

also open to helping people with nightfall/weekly since there's a strike bounty

The guys I've run it with always made it sound like the relic bubble boosted your attack as well as it protecting you.

But you were getting 20k+ hits outside, so maybe only Time's Vengeance was providing the real boost.

And damn, 20k+... were you shooting the belly spot or is there a different crit spot I don't know about. I was getting 13k+ using a fully maxed Ice Breaker.

I-duh-no... some day Bungie will finish making the game & hopefully they'll decide to let us in on the game rules ;)

I can get on now...

I see you guys are still in the Raid. Have you spent an hour just on Atheon!? Or did you guys start a fresh one?

I'll be on and can either do Atheon or the Gatekeeper with mine or if you guys are up for it we could try Hard mode Oracles/Templar with my Warlock. I'd imagine we could just give that 30 minutes or so to see how hard it is. If we an get to the Templar we can push him and then hopefully get 2 checkpoints of hard mode exclusive stuff out of it.

Raided earlier yesterday and got my 2nd pair of gloves and a pair of boots.  So excited.  Now I just need a helmet and chest, but would be happy with just a chest (due to exotic helmet).

Makes for a good week, since I got Vision of Confluence earlier in the week. :D

Daily is SUPER-easy and more importantly short. I ran through it with all 3 of my characters which was way more productive than the Raid I tried to do right before. It is Skywatch (where you open the door and then get ambushed by the Hive and have to kill the Wizard). Man, I remember how terrifying that sequence was in the Alpha - now it is just a breeze even at 28.

But before that... OMG...

I got into a Raid with randoms with my Hunter. I knew I would be struggling a bit more than I would on my other two characters because she's just barely level 28 (and I did some grinding beforehand to get to that). Plus Hunters just seem to get hurt way more easily. At least it seems that way between my 3 chars - and no self-res as a backup either. Nor a super to clean out when being surrounded like my Titan.

In any case, with all my 300-damage weapons I figured I could hold my own and I did. But this group had a little trouble opening the gate. I should have taken that as an omen. We spent well over an hour and they couldn't get past the initial conflux part within the Vault! Geez, compared to the speed run we did with the CAG group on Tuesday this was just horrible. They eventually gave up.

Some of it might have been due to lagging issues. Certainly during a few tries we had some horrible lag where enemies were just standing there and if you threw a grenade your arm would move but nothing would happen (same with a rocket once too). But there were times when I was guarding the left or right conflux (as we nearly always got to the part with all 3) and I'd be in the front guarding the stairs or the cave and would turn around to see like 3 Vex sacrificing behind me. There were 2 guys back there watching - so either they didn't know what they were doing or maybe the lag issues meant they didn't see them. We kept switching people around but it didn't seem to matter - it was always a different place that screwed up. It was super-frustrating. I was concentrating like hell so I didn't die and be the cause of the issues. One time I did when dfor some reason there were no less than 6 hobgoblins right next to the right conflux when I was covering the cave (they came from the other side).

But during a break when one guy left I noticed that a lot of these guys, while they were mostly level 28-29 (though the leader was 26), had really crappy weapons. None of them had anything maxed out either.

Bah... I was tempted to run it again but I figured I'd just be too tired (by the time we stopped it was 3am). So I went to do the Daily.

So, yeah, if you guys still want to do a fresh run I'm up for that on that character. I know with you guys we ought to get to Atheon, at least, without too much trouble.

Or we could run that Oracle hard mode checkpoint that my Warlock has. I just got her to level 29 tonight for that purpose. On the fireteam finder sites there are a LOT of people looking for hard mode Oracle saves so that is a valuable thing I guess (since some of the good gear comes from the next 2 checkpoints). We really ought to try it, at least, this weekend. Would that reset on Tuesday or would I still be there?

I'm available most of Saturday except for 2-4 Pacific. On Sunday, I forgot I am going to the Blazers game so I will be out from like 4 to 11 PM Pacific. That means if it is on Sunday it has to be early.

It was pretty satisfying to finally kill Atheon last night. Oracles checkpoint on hard would be great; could get a couple drops and grab the chest we missed on the first run through.

It's not only two of the best drop spots but it's also basically impossible to fail that section on hard because you can easily cheese the oracles and the templar. So it just free drops for 5-10 minutes of barely any work if you put together a group on hard for the oracles/templars then you also get the 3 chests just after. That's why everyone is always looking for it.

Thanks to everyone that helped us finish last night.  Good to beat Atheon and get some weapon drops finally.  If there is a Hard raid run this weekend please count me in.

I have somebody else on my list who is 29 and would really love to run it on hard. So if we have four more from here we should be set.

How do you cheese the Oracles? While I always thought that part was a bit easier than the section before it, there is still the sniping hobgoblins and such. We also won't get the chests afterwards if we've done it on Normal this week (which most of us have I think). But that's OK - I just want to try it and if possible get the two checkpoint rewards.

I have to take my son to his basketball game but will be back around 4pm Pacific if we want to do it then. We should trade the save around first so that we can run it twice with different characters if possible. I could give it to Gott and Moose on their alternate characters for example, then load my level 30 Titan and get it from one of them for him as well. If someone uses a true alternate character that they don't run through the Raid then we could have that checkpoint saved for next week as well.

Are there any weapons worth getting with vanguard marks?  I already have Vison of Confluence, Ice Breaker and Hezen Vengeance so I feel like I'm pretty set for now, but I'm up against the 200 mark limit and have to get something.  Or should I just get some armor pieces to deconstruct into shards?

I haven't seen anything from the Vanguard marks that is better than stuff I've gotten from the Raid or Nightfall (or just random drops).

It turns out I have to do some shopping after the game so I won't be back until 5-5:30pm Pacific or so. But at that point I should have whatever time we need (maybe to run it twice?).

My two other characters I just started and both are level two so I don't think that would work. My friend that wants to give it a shot has a 29 warlock and 28 hunter so he could possibly do it. I think we'll both be on after 7 central if we can throw a group together.

Those are all solar so you'd need other burns no?

The Swarm is a good void heavy to get. I think the arc sniper the vendor sales is decent and the Shadow Price is one of the better regular legendary autos alongside the Vanquisher.

I'm thinking it involves keeping snipers up on the spawn point (at least two, 3 better) and hopefully they have maxed out Ice Breakers. The rest go down to manage the oracles that are hidden in the far back on either side.

The snipers focus on everything in the middle and front areas as well as calling out oracle spawns. Means they can focus fire on 5 of the oracles. Actually works really well, better than I first thought it would.

Yea I have Shadow Price maxed out based on your recommendation, that is my primary weapon for now until I can max Vision of Confluence. Got the Vanguard too from an engram, I think. I have an Arc Light/Beware (fusion rifle), but I guess I should try to fill in some gaps I have with void and arc damage on the Special & Heavy.

That time works out better for me. My kids should all be in bed by 8pm eastern so I'd like to join if you have a spot.

Do you guys recommend using shards and energies to upgrade the legendary weapons and armor? Or is it best to hold on to them for exotics?

I need to start farming materials and hunting for chests. Have only really done the story and been doing daily and weekly strikes. Im up to level 22 with my Titan.

I am a fan of The Devil You Know, which is a hand cannon. I bought it at one point when I was high on marks as well. It does not have any elemental damage on it, but it seems to tear through stuff pretty damn fast.

That's a tough call. It kind of depends on the weapon. I have some legendary weapons I prefer over exotics. You also can only have one exotic equipped at a time. So if you find a legendary weapon you like go ahead and upgrade it. If you have an exotic helmet I would upgrade that first.

Everyone stays up top and never jumps down. You can spread out and hit all the oracles from up there. One guy has to scoot way over to the right as far as he can and he's the only one who can hit the back left oracle so he's gotta be paying attention to that. Snipers will shoot at you every now and then but for the most part you're completely safe up there. To trigger the section to start a warlock can jump down to his death and self rez back up there or there is a way for someone to jump down and take a path back up although I'm not 100% sure how it's done, I've never had to take the path back up but I've seen people do it.

Also you get the first gorgons maze chest on both normal and hard.

We tried to do it with 3 people down below and 3 up top. After several tries we decided to try to have 5 up top and one down to trigger. We couldn't ever get to a spot where we could see that one left of center oracle. But then someone jumped down and found a spot somewhere down there to hide and take out that one Oracle and we finally got it done.

And yeah, we did get extra stuff from that one chest (but not the non-teleporting one).

Since I have the save on my Titan we can try it again next week after we do another normal run. I'll probably want to run it on my Warlock again so maybe we can do some more passing of the save around. We need to keep that thing going!

There is some way to maintain it though, right? I know people have mentioned some way of doing that. I'll look into it.

Edit: Hmmm... Can't find anything. Well, if you guys are up to do it again on alternate characters, perhaps, I'd like to run it with my Titan. I think we know how to do it quickly now. Is anyone available early tomorrow - say 1-2 pm Pacific or so?

Maybe in the same way you can claim bounties and then grab another pair after restarting your console after the 2 am reset each morning? So you hang out at Atheon when the reset happens and then pass it to someone whose console has already updated? Not sure if this is valid

Yeah, that might be it. I stay on until after 2am but then invite someone else in to take it after that. It can't boot you out once you are already in there.

I can certainly do my part. But yeah, who will be around at 2am Pacific on Tuesday to take the save from me? ;)

Ran through the Raid on Normal with more randoms tonight on my Hunter. Unlike last night when they couldn't even get through the conflux part we blew through the whole thing in like an hour and a half tops. So that was nice.

I got some Raid gloves for my Hunter, Corrective Measure, and another damn Chattewhite. Seriously, I need to count them up across my characters because I've gotten one every time I've finished the Raid except for the first time. So it is a good counter for how many times I've done it. I want more sparrows and ships from the end - but no, just Chatterwhite and more Chatterwhite. The Raid gloves made it worth it in any case.

Today's Daily is the first Moon mission (finding the dead Guardian). It wasn't too much trouble except near the beginning when you scan something in that building to the left of the start there is a shielded/yellow Captain that was a pain in the ass. I had to use a heavy ammo synth to get him. But part of that might be that I downgraded myself to level 26 so I could work on that Exotic Helm I got from the Nightfall, my new Raid gloves, and a replacement chest piece for the exotic I had to swap out of there. So I guess being level 26 going up against the 28 kind of made it tough. But the rest of the enemies from the level weren't nearly as bad as him. He kept teleporting to safety whenever I'd get his shield down.

I'm also working on the Hand Cannon (Fatebringer) I got from the Raid when we did the hard mode stuff earlier. I hadn't yet gotten a legendary Hand Cannon (and had never used one during the game) so this was a nice one to get since it has Arc damage which I was lacking in my other weapons. It also has an upgrade where enemies sometimes explode. That is nice (can take out crowds).

Edit: It looks like Fatebringer may be the only hard mode exclusive item from the Oracle and Templar checkpoints. That was nice to get!

Does anyone still have the oracle save on hard?
Well, yeah, I do. I can get on right NOW and run through it quickly. Or if anyone is willing to hop on at 2am Pacific on Tuesday and grab it from me we can save it for next week.

But I really need to be out of the house in an hour, so if we are going to run it, it needs to be immediately. Or maybe we can do it tomorrow (Monday) evening.

I could pass it to you though just to have another person keeping it. I'll get on now - if there are enough others on we can run through it. I think we know how to do it well enough to knock the Oracles/Templar out in half an hour. If there aren't enough, I'll give you the save at least.

Monday night would be good for me. I could grab the save from you right now JIC you can't do it tomorrow. Do we just have to jump into a game and then return to orbit?

Bear messaged me and wanted to run it. I have to leave now though. What time is good for you guys tomorrow? Earlier (or late) is better for me since my kids have swimming at 6:30 PM Pacific. If we could knock it out before that, that would be great. I'd actually want to use your save, Rada5auru5 since then I could run it with my Hunter who needs Raid gear.

if anyone else still needs the weekly/nightfall, I'm messing around/doing speed runs to get my exotic bounties (pocket infinity/bad juju) done so let me know and I'll shoot you an invite for the boss.
