Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

I am so sick of the same stupid Warlock helmet model they are using for all of these events. It is my least favorite of like EVERY helmet and yet that is all we get. I need head and legs for Raid gear still and I am really hoping I get the head before the legs because I am sick of looking at my current face!! hahaha

Then i shall be trying to get warlock chest and boots so i can get to 30 and beat the raid on hard. I only have exotic helmet, queen chest, regular legendary gauntlets, and rare boots for my titan.

I keep getting "stinkbug" error when trying to log into destiny after the update. I guess they are still updating the servers. So thats why stinkbug error comes up.

Doesnt look like Iron Banner gear is on par with Raid gear, just like I assumed would be the case.

This is essentially the Queen's Wrath then, but just with PvP.

I will still participate but with Exotic Weapons and Raid gear it is hard to get excited by the rewards

The MP isnt that bad for new people. Just stay out of the iron banner. I was doing well with a level 6 titan. As long as you have your nade, lifts, punch, and super you should be able to do some damage. Just bring a shotgun or fusion rifle to the party. ;)

Oh that sucks. I already have a legendary vanguard chest 100% leveled up for my warlock so that would be pointless to get a new one and have wasted those ascendant materials just for cosmetic looks. I might play it anyway just for the shaders, bounty xp, and class stuff. Might be best to do the nightfall mission before doing iron banner bounties. That would help level up iron banner rank faster right?

I would gladly use Ascendant Shards on a better looking helmet : P

But no, Nighfall only effects the XP gain, not reputation unfortunately.

 
Finally got a team last night and got only shards in VoG. Someone else on the team got Atheon's Epilogue ... wtf. The iron banner looks nice, but its hard to decide what to invest time on. Tough I do want the shaders  :whistle2:k

That's not true. It might say that it only effects XP, but the Nightfall buff absolutely effects rep gains as well.

 
but the nightfall did not buff Queen reputation, so I'm guessing it'll be the same for iron banner.

I'm kinda glad iron banner gear is just like regular legendarily, means I won't have to force my-self to play the crucible if I'm not enjoying it.

Will you be able to dismantle iron banner armor for shards?

 
Apparently. There is a way to cheese Atheon. Lure him to the edge where he starts off. And after he completes his summoning phase, spam Void Super to push him off to his death.
 
Yeah, I saw that vid in the morning. No real reason to use that on normal mode, but if everyone can hit 29 this week we should try hard mode and just cheese Atheon if he's that hard lol.

Iron Banner looks to be super grindy. Bounties are going to be the main source of rep, not actually matches which is gonna suck for me. I don't see myself completing the highest score one, among others, especially when playing with my friends lol.

 
Not sure why, but spent most of last night knocking out the last few Queen bounties... even the crucible ones (sniper headshot was annoying to complete). So finished 300pts shy of Rank 3. Guess I'm in a good spot if there's ever another Queen event.

At least it wasn't a total waste of time since I got another legendary pulse rifle, Bad Seed Down, and my first exotic bounty, Toland's Legacy.

I'm now up to 2 legendary pulse rifles, 1 auto rifle(thinking of breaking down this one) and if I ever finish the bounty... another pulse rifle.

And since I gotta bitch about something... I pulled out my TB headset and hooked it up last night only to have the left can break off at the swivel point :bomb: . Bought them new for Halo Reach and they got a bunch of use in that year but had been neatly put away since then. So much for me thinking I take good care of my stuff :roll:

Bungie knows how to make armor. Hoodies and skirts... not so much.

They should bring in a Vogue consultant or a Project Runway contestant :)

Been reading that it's not much different from Queen's gear, just more of it. Which might mean you don't get shards when you break it down. But you'll look snazzy

So Queen's Wrath was to help PvE players catch up and now Iron Banner is for PvP players (everybody in the middle is fodder). Who's gonna help the break-dancers in the tower???

29 Warlock and 26 hunter, not touching Iron Banner.  Gear can't get you to 30 and doesn't seem worth the horrible pain Crucible is.  Down for the hard mode raid though, tag is GThirst.  lv 29 only.

 
Just got done soloing the Nightfall. I messed up a couple times, but in the end it was pretty easy. Basically just used a void sniper to kill everything from a safe distance. When I got to the part where you have to fight the three waves to get the door open I just hid up behind some rocks with a grate looking thing on them up by the ketch. It's on the left just before you hit the ramp onto the ship. I had to go down and lure the last few mobs out at the end of each wave, but for the most part they just sat there while I picked them off. For the boss fight I just hid under the platform and cheesed him. Took a little while, but I was never in any danger. I took out the shanks just to be safe, but if you position yourself right there are spots where nothing can hit you. Got an exotic Warlock chest as a reward.

Just letting you guys know. Will be doing 2 raids back to back tonight, I think there's still 1 spot open for the second raid if anyone is interested. Should be starting at about 11:30EDT or a bit earlier, shouldn't take much more than 1 hour - 1hr 15.

I just got  the Invective exotic through a bounty and it is slow as hell to reload, I even have the sunbreaker gloves on (which is supposed to increase reload speed for special weaps).

1. Did they nerf the Invective shotty?

2. Any does the ammo regen directly into the mag?

Buddies and I plowed through the Vault of Glass last night for a new record time for us! 57 minutes!

I got TWO pieces of leg armor which was bogus seeing as I need a helmet too but hey, I am not complaining that I got legs at all. Now I am down to 28 again though until I get some more XP to get those back up (I already have like 27 ascendant shards waiting). Once I get the XP I will be just a few light points away from 30 : D I also was able to score the Raid Rocket Launcher whose name is escaping me as well as.... ATHEONS EPILOGUE!! Gah I was so excited. This seriously was the best Raid I have done so far in regards to rewards. Normally I am lucky to get ONE thing that isnt just ascendant material and this time I got 4. It was crazy.

We also did the cheesing Atheon off the edge and it worked pretty well but felt so empty haha. Once you have beaten the Raid in the double digits now though I didnt mind!

I have been posting over on the X1 thread and will be helping a group of CAGs out there since many of them have been unable to get a solid group to finish it even once yet!

 
One of the greatest joys of playing Destiny as a defender Titan is putting up my Ward of Dawn with Starless Night right in front of an enemy spawn point. Then punching the hell out of everything.  So satisfying.

I'm pretty sure the raid helm only drops in the hard raid. Most of my raid group (including me) doesn't want to drop shards in any more non-raid gear. I guess we could try hard at level 28 but not sure how we will do.

It kind of sucks for those of us with Sunbreakers. If Xur sells the warlock helm this week I'll pick it up to have some flexibility and not have to rely on the hard raid to get to 30.

I did finally get a raid armor drop (chest) yesterday. I also got a Hawkmoon. Clearing nightfall and the raid on Tuesday sort of leaves you with a feeling of 'ok, what next?' for the rest of the week. It's a shame that the IB event is pretty much pointless. And I'm not starting an alt because of Bungie's f'd up loot system :D
 
At least you guys are getting armor, its my 4th week of clears and I havent seen 1 armor drop yet, I have 73 Shards/50ish Energy's.

Best thing Ive gotten from there is the Hawkmoon but I dont even use it.

Got the Vex Mythoclast finally after another run at VoG hard!  :D/ First time completion awhile back, only got shards and a chest piece. I need to level the Vex before it can finally take the place of my maxed out Suros. Lastly, only trophy I have left is beating a raid without dying.  :lol:

My titan is 27 now, so i could go through the VoG twice a week with both characters, my Warlock is 29, and only need raid chest and boots to get my warlock to 30. So ive been mainly using my titan recently. Also got a better gun for him. I was playing with my titan when he was 26 at the last boss in the raid and kind of felt too weak, and my guns werent doing that much damage unless i was using my sniper. So it shouldnt be a problem now that i have leveled him up more and got a better primary. So if anyone needs an extra guy or three (arjay, ignatia, and I) I would love to run through the VoG on any night. Shouldnt be a problem for me. Already been through it 3 times so i know what to do. Although i dont have much experience using the shield.

Iron banner is okay, as a level 26 i didnt really feel like i was getting owned by higher ranks. In fact a buddy i was playing with was a 29 and he was being killed pretty fast by a 22. So i dont think the difference is that big. Maybe its worse if you have a fully upgraded exotic vs someone in the teens. I got to Rank 1 and got the first shader and that was kind of disappointing, at least on my titan. I really dont care to get any higher of a rank because it seems like it would just take too much time and effort. I would rather run through the VoG, Nightfall, Weekly Heroic missions.

Congrats on the Mythoclast!!!

My buddies and I have tried hard but it was too much of a pain a week ago. Now we are all either high 29 or 30 and so we are probably going to try it again this weekend and my fingers are crossed for either a Helmet or Mythoclast!

so question you basically get this checkpoint. If no one dies if you have a fresh team would that count as no one dying in your team for the trophy? Because this plus the "atheon glitch" kick him off the cliff makes the plat more obtainable.

 
Just did the Raid on hard mode and it was a lot of fun ended up only getting shards and energy on everything but Atheon and got the mythoclast, a second hawkmoon and a legendary sparrow

 
Doing one last normal VoG tonight at 10PM EDT, have 1-2 spots if anyone is interested.

If there's any 29+ people with upgraded weapons who are interested in hard mode, will be running one later this week too.

 
I mean, if we can find someone with the checkpoint I could run it 3 times on hard assuming we have enough locks lol.

I would prefer not to message randoms on DestinyLFG to see if they're willing to give me a checkpoint though...

 
You can only go thru the raid once a week no matter what the difficulty is rite?  If so then i'll do hard mode next tuesday. im 29 now and stuck there forever until i get raid gear :(

If you do normal, you can do hard after and get loot for each run once.

If you do hard without doing normal, you get loot for both on the hard run.

At level 29 you're above the requirement for normal. Technically you can do hard mode too, but it'd be best to run normal at least once so you know the fights a bit. Granted you could technically youtube every fight and read up on them and jump into hard mode.

 
Oh nice, i might do the raid on hard tonight if anyone wants to team up later.  I did the raid 3 times on normal already lol. I think its time i got my Vex Mythoclast

Just a small note here: This only applies to loot that you get for reaching checkpoints and beating bosses. The chests you can only get once (and are presumably the same on normal and hard).
