Yep and got mine on Friday 20th of April.
 
It took me 1:45 to earn the first badge. Mostly because I started with the Fire Monkey pokemon which you need to level up a lot to defeat the rock gym leader.
 
Okay... so Mox, you better start with the Fire dude so I don't have to level him up. ;)

Water and Grass shouldn't take too long.
 
Got a save file backed up on my computer for the grass starter.

1 down, 2 to go.

Luckily you don't have to beat the first gym if you are doing a local trade otherwise I would still be working on the grass starter.

When I get my Diamond (hopefully today if someone is selling it early), then I'm going with grass just like I did with Blue. Ah, bulbasaur.
 
Damn, my brother found Pokemon Pearl at Game Quest yesterday. I'm still waiting for my Target pre-order, oh the pain of it all!
 
Woohoo just got mine, Gamerush had 5 copies and i bought 3 of them one for me and each for my nephews. I called 2 other Gamerush and they wouldn't sell it until tomorrow. I asked the guy I bought it at and he said he's been selling the game for a freakin week already, not sure if he was exaggerating.


And yeah like I said, you don't need first badge to local trade. My only gripe so far(haven't played it much, i'm just trading atm) is saving takes about 15 secs.

So for anyone already playing, how is the walking speed? Everything I've seen it seems pretty slow.

Walking speed hasn't been a problem in previous games, especially with the running shoes. Saving was a bit longer on sapphire/ruby than it was on G/S/C and I noticed it but got quickly used to it, so I suspect I will get used to it again this time around.

Thanks for the advice about the fire starter guy, Ill go with the penguin guy (gonna name it pengo from the old arcade game :) instead to save time. I am getting both (one in the mail from Cd universe, one from EBstop tomorrow) so I can just get the fire guy and the other starters on my second game, then trade them over to Pearl, which will be my main game.

I haven't been able to go check at GS where I pre-ordered, but as soon as I get it tommarow i'll post pics of the holder and hopefully it's atleast nice and decent plastic.

About the walking speed it's not like Red and blue you get running shoes in the game so you can run and also you can run in buildings now which is good if your in a hurry since R/S/E you couldn't run in buildings.

What sucks is im stuck playing

LUNAR KNIGHTS and now really dont have time for this pokemon game. By the time i get done with LUNAR i probally could of picked up a pokemon game used (then again the pokemon games do keep their vaules)

Walking is slow, but the running shoes make it bearable. You get the running shoes early on. Please hold the "OMG! DERS RUN-NIN' CHOOSE IN DIS! UZ SPO!LRZ!!!11". :D Every Pokemon game on GBA has the running shoes.

Yea they can't be sold though til tomorrow through the registers. When I got mine in ( I Work Electronics at Sam's ) They had a In Stock Date of 4/20. Most workers see that and think it's the street date and put shit out for sale.

I feel sorry for all the people who try to buy it ( Or Something like that ) and they get denied at the registers :(

You don't need the first badge to trade directly. I havent gotten it yet and connected to wifi just fine. First badge is jsut for the GTS for annonymous trades.

Took an hour to get here, that didnt sound so bad in theory, but now actually imagining myself playing through that first hour 5 times in a row just doesn't seem feasable at all.
 
How long does it take to get to a Pokemon Center that lets you do local trading? I'm going to try to get all the starters with my brother, but need to know how much time I should set aside.

By trade directly, do you mean trading with someone who you've swapped friend codes with? Or do you mean local wifi trading (like DS to DS)?

I'm hoping it's the former so me and Mox can get that shit done early.
