Diamond; Pearl; Platinum 1-A (Friend Codes; Online Discussion; Trades, Battles, etc.)

Thanks a ton, Ryu!! I can't wait to get to training them! Sorry I didn't get to post this sooner. I was waiting around until 3:30 to meet up with you to get the Pokemon and then I had to take my girlfriend out for a late lunch. But I really appreciate it! Thank you so much!

I'm a noob but if anyone has anything that they think might help me and they can spare them I'd love to add them to my collection! Thank you!

So do you guys have Battle Revolution?
I'm really tempted to get back into Pokemanz again (especially if Pokemon Ranch is coming out soon)

PBR was def a good game if you religiously played Diamond/Pearl. Though, I never really did get online much :(
I'd be up for this as well. Pretty sure the egg hatch counter resets when you deposit it, so you can always make some different ones and store them until we organize a time for the random egg event. Plus you might forget which eggs are which if you make several of them, so it makes it even more fun! :hot:
Actually I'm pretty sure the progress you make in hatching the egg is saved even if you deposit it. But I agree that it'd be more fun if not even the trader didn't even know what was inside.

I trust that this board is cool enough to not turn this into a Magikarp Caviar Exchange. ;)

I think the rule would be: "Don't send anything that you wouldn't be happy to recieve."

Besides, who would breed magikarp?? ;)

Hmm, maybe. I was breeding a bunch of Piplup the other day, and had to put several eggs back that I had been working on hatching. When I pulled them out of the box, they seemed to take about as long as they normally would if I hadn't done anything to try and hatch them.

Also, anyone free for a few minutes? I need to trade my Haunter to get it turned into a Gengar. Obviously I'd want it back after it evolved. Trading evolution pokemon are lame.

As for PBR, I don't have it, and can't see myself ever buying it unless it was like $15 or so, and even then it's not for sure. I just don't see the point of needing it when D/P has a nice online component. Maybe I'm missing something though since I never did much research on it, but it didn't seem worth $50 or anything close based on the little info I read on it.

Don't you know? Magikarp evolves into the mighty Gyarados. You might just find that that Magikarp was bred to have max atk and max speed IVs.

Man, I have the worst luck in this game. I was definitely going to beat a trainer at battle tower but all of a sudden I was frozen 3 straight times by ice punch...

edit: anyone want to battle tonight? Or I could help with trades/advice/etc. as well.

Yea, I was wondering if there was any real reason to own Pokemon Battle Revolution as well. From what I can tell it's mostly fun for local play but I don't have enough friends with Pokemon. Is there any benefits to playing it? Things you can't find in other games or something?

In PBR, you can play random pick up games online. I think the battles are a bit more customizable than what is available in D/P. Also, if you get serious serious, there are a few nice things you can get in PBR. In D/P, there are a handful of items that you can only get one of. Examples of these are TMs, and evolution items. (Dusknoir, Porygon, Rhyperior, etc.) You can buy extras of these in PBR. Normally, if you wanted more of said items, you would have to restart your D/P game. Also of note, you can get the "pinch" berries. These berries can raise a specific stat by 50%, crit hit, or a random stat by 100%. They activate when your HP hits 25%. Most of these were available in the GBA/GCN games, but were difficult or impractical to get. You can trade for these berries for the most part.

I've got most of them (and I'll bet SL4IN does too), but I'm still working on getting the +crit hit, and +100% random stat berries from my Emerald game. (That's also why I've been a bit dormant in the D/P scene lately) If anybody wants to take up the torch of growing these berries to distribute, I can upload a few from Emerald.

Oh yeah, looking for a Magmar with the ability Flame Body so I can speed up the egg hatching process. Some of the decent pokes I can offer are

Turtwig
Charmander
Piplup
Chimchar

and a Misdreavus with the moveset I posted before. Won't be able to check until tomorrow to see if anyone has one for trade, but I should be available most of the day.

You can find the Slugma family, or Camerupt in D/P. That'll also work.

From what I remember from Silver onwards is that egg message when you check their status, "It's shaking, it's almost ready to hatch!"(paraphrasing) for example, would stay the same even if you deposited it.

Sounds interesting. I may have to try and pick it up and some point if I can snag it cheap enough. Looks like it's going for just about 30 bucks still on eBay. Not low enough for me yet tho. Thanks for the info!

Oh, that's cool. I had forgotten about those, since I figured you can't catch them anyway until after the Elite 4. Still looking for someone to help me evolve my Haunter. I'll give a free charmander to whomever helps! (well not totally free since I need a generic pokemon in return ;))

I'd be happy to help, and happy to have a charmander. PM me what times might work for you. I'm pretty much flexible all day.

Doh, got kicked and don't have the gengar. Probably lost it heh. If you didn't get the charmander, let me know and I'll sign back on to give it to you, regardless if you still have the gengar by chance or not.

Ah cool. No prob with the Charmander. It's not the best nature (I think it's +Atk and - Def), but it does come with Dragon Dance, which you can only get by breeding. I'm trying to get a female charmander with Adamant nature so I can breed it with an everstone. ;)

Yeah, I have 2 boxes full of them. I think it used to have 3. I could start a Pokemon Circus with those things. I remember I was trying to breed one with a certain nature. It took forever and I hated it.

Are we talking Eevee or Charmander?

In either case...what would it take to get one from you? :D

I've got lots of Charmanders. I'd be interested in any R/B/Y or G/S/C starter that isn't Charmander if you have it. If not, let me know and I'll think of something else.

Evee. You can get one when I feel like busting my DS out. I'll let you know.

If you're willing to wait a while, I could breed you a Bulbasaur. The "wait a while" comes in in that I'm just starting the game, and that I've got to finish Fire Red before I can bring anything in from it.

I'm at the Elite Four in Fire Red, though, so that shouldn't take too long. Getting the National Dex, though...
Evee. You can get one when I feel like busting my DS out. I'll let you know.
Thanks. :D

I'm sure I'll pick up an Eevee at some point in the game, but having more than one of those buggers is always useful.

Heh, I can just give you a Charmander the next time I have some free time. I just got my National Pokedex tonight, so I'll be able to import the R/S/E starters, and then start on my Emerald game (still need to be elite 4 in diamond though lol).

I'm back from being gone and if anyone needs any certain pokemon, let me know and I can distribute as well.

And I'd really be interested in getting people's PBR friend codes for some battles....

How is PBR? Is it good enough to warrant a system purchase? Last 3d pokemon game I played was pokemon stadium (and pokemon snap before that) for n64, is PBR sorta like that?

If so, it'd seem like a place to get game specific items.

edit: looking at a video, it looks like just pokemon stadium. It would be awesome if there was a true pokemon game, that would definitely sell like hotcakes.

At this point, I would say that if you can find PBR cheap, get it. Otherwise, wait for PBR 2 (not announced, but knowing Ninty, it's ineviteble). The 1-player mode is ok, and it's somewhat easy to garner enough points to get something. I still have a Surfing Pikachu that my roommate let me download once he beat the game. Haven't used it, but I have one. That thing came with a Light Ball, Surf, Volt Tackle, and I think some other things that I don't remember.

Ugh, Cynthia's Milotic just keeps pounding me into submission. I don't have a single Pokemon that can last long enough to take it down. I've tried leveling some pokemon up, but having to level in Victory Road with exp share (due to the types of pokemon there) is really boring and time consuming. Is there any other leveling spots besides Victory Road that hopefully have a different mix of Pokemon?

Keep in mind I haven't used any TMs due to not wanting to waste them on Pokemon I'm not keeping. I want to get the Battle Tower EV items so I can train up the Pokemon I want to use, but at this point I'm guessing I'll probably get pounded there too.

Wow, you got through the game pretty fast.

As for leveling, I would recommend vs seeker. You can choose who and what you battle. Plus you get a fair amount of cash if you are in need. Since you can choose who to battle, you can always score effective hits and reduce the training time. On gamefaqs, a couple of the FAQs should list all the trainers and their respective pokes and rewards.

edit: Looking at Cynthia's pokes, a good pokemon to have would be abomasnow with grass and ice attacks so you can hit 4 out of 6 pokemon for effective damage. And maybe have a poke with something to counter Lucario.

Hey all. I just wanted to say that I have all 490 Pokemon (not ARed). If you need any generation starter or something odd like a Tropius just PM me and I'd be happy to help you out.

Is there a good way to get a thunderbolt TM besides the game corner? At the rate I'm going, I'll have ot play the slots for like 2 hours more to get the coins. :\

You can just buy the coins with the game money instead of playing the slots. I think it's 500 coins for $10,000.

Well, I'm at 62 hours played, so it's not that fast lol. I've wasted so much time leveling up pokemon that turn out to be inferior to what I had already leveled. It looks like Abomasnow would be a fantastic choice, especially for Milotic, so I'll go out and catch one today. I'm also working on an Ampharos since I have the Pokeradar, though maybe he isn't needed anymore if I catch an Abomasnow. I was considering dumping my Gyarados for an Empoleon, but that would be too much work with what I've already got to do, and Gyarados gets the job done for the Elite 4 I need him on, so no real point.

I gave up on the VS Seeker when I ran around Victory Road and kept getting "There is a time and place for that, but not now!!". Any other place I go the pokemon are going to be too weak to be worthwhile compared to just leveling them with exp share in Victory Road anyway, so the time spent going to a specific spot for a specific fight will be more hassle than just doing that.

Edit: You know, now that I think about it, it may have been due to me being on the bicycle. I just tried using the Pokeradar and got the same message, and had to hop off the bike. Man, if that's all it was, it could have saved me loads of time.

I do know that, but it seems too expensive to go that way. Eh. I think I am going to take a poke-break, and scratch my Metal Gear Solid itch.

True. I guess it depends where you are at in the game too. I have over $200,000 and every time you beat the elite 4 it's like $90,000 so it's not that bad if you are at the end game.

As for VS Seeker, it definitely wasn't the bike, as I still get that message even when I'm off it. I guess I can keep throwing myself at the Elite 4 and put the exp share on the Pokemon I want to level up, since I don't think there is any major penalty for dying to them except losing ~$7,000 but I make like $50,000 fighting them so not a big deal I suppose.

suko rocks - I got three Eevees for Geodudes last night. Definitely not a balanced trade, but I'll put them to good use once I get the evolutionary stones.

Thanks again, suko. :D

Gothic, if you can log on to WiFi now, I can give you a Charmander. Just give me any pokemon in return, don't care what it is. I'd need your FC as well.

Hey guys, I'm out of commission for a little while, the ds went back to nintendo to get a stress crack replaced for the second time. This time around seems pretty serious, so it looks like they'll be sending me a new ds. I'll be back up for trading/battling in about a week/week and a half. I still have PBR to battle though.....

I have Manaphy, but it's produced via pokesav. I'll be more than happy to produce one for ya though.

However, I don't think anyone would want to play you with uber-pokes, I certainly wouldn't. Ubers own my face.

edit: I believe those stress cracks only applied to the DSLite?
