sorry, I don't have access to wifi atm.

Its like were twins! lol

Im also about 13-14 hours in, and I only have 2 badges. My two main Pokemon I use for fighting are levels 32 and 28. Im in no rush as this is a game I can see myself playing for hundreds of hours.

Right now Im in this berry/honey loop. Because everything runs off of the DS' real clock, I pick/plant/water berries and slather honey in the morning on my way to work. Then on my way home from work I run my little circular route and pick/plant/water the berries, and fight/capture my honeytree Pokemon. Then I try to do that all again right before I go to bed.

Im obsessed with berries! lol

Im also obessed with the Pokemon attracted to honey. 9 out of 10 times, its just a combee, but one time I saw this crazy purple pokemon that looked like a head on a coily spring foot dealy. Like a dumbass I killed him before I could capture him, and now I havent seen one since! So I keep trying.
I'm like 12.5 hours in, but I think I'm taking too much time just wandering around and not really maximizing my gameplay time, haha. I've only got the first two badges, and my main tier of PokemonII'm actively using in battle are only in the 17-21 level range. I feel like I should have accomplished more in that many hours!

But it's my first Pokemon game, I'm just having fun exploring, talking to people, battling, just doing whatever. It feels more open ended than I expected, or maybe that's just an illusion. Either way, it's a lovely game, I haven't played a game this much in the first few days since Super Mario Sunshine.
lol saw this posted on gamefaqs:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230127085860&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

i emailed him, and asked him, "If your going to hack a shiny charmander with perfect IVs, then why not at least give it a decent nature?"

He replied:

thats unfortunated that you would believe these pokemon were hacked i spend a great deal of my tyme breeding diffrent species of pokemon i own 52 copies of diamond/pear and have people who i work together with whos intrest in the game is breeding exceptional pokemon. if your intrested in a modest/timid nature charmander i'll see if we currently have one in one of our many saves.

Oh God that reminds me, I have like three trees I slathered honey on, and I've never gone back to 'em.

Is there a limit on the time you can leave those unattended before they have to be re-slathered?

Great, you just added a new step to my daily routine that will keep me from progressing, THANKS, haha.

I really need to start levelling up more, though. I still don't have a single one over 22 (but 5 of my top 6 are all at 20 or 21), but a lot of 'em I never use and don't plan on further developing, so we'll see...I guess I need to focus on a few key ones instead of spreading the wealth.

Wow, that was interesting (the ebay story, i mean). If anyone is familiar with Spiritomb, anyone know a good moveset for him? I was thinking Curse, Pain Split, Hypnosis, and Dream Eater. The last two I'm not entirely certain about, but Curse and Pain SPlit are definitely in

I believe the honey lasts for 24 hours real time, then wears off. One night I went out to dinner with friends after work and didnt get to play till the next day and all my honey was gone, and no pokemon in the tree! =(

I have my two main pokemon, and then nothing else over level 18-20. I always start to level up a Pokemon, then I find/capture a cooler looking one and start leveing that one up. Since this is my first Pokemon game, and I have no idea which pokemon are good, I pretty much go by looks, lol.

Seeings how I haven't really done ANY competitive battling, and haven't played a game since Gold - can anyone reccommend a good moveset for Lucario. He's pretty much been decided on for a spot on my final team, just not sure what moves I should look into breeding/teaching him (or even really how to go about breeding onto him, need to read into that.)

edit: Dialga caught, 15 tries later I settled for a Calm nature. =\
Wasn't too bad to do tho, string went 2-2-2-1-3-1-1-3-1-1-2-1-3-4-1 using Dusk Balls as soon as he hit the yellow, usually after one Close Combat from Infernape. =D

I have Pearl, and have seen 148 pokemon. I'm missing Slowpoke and Slowbro, and I'm having some trouble.

Most FAQs say you can only get Slowpoke with the Pokemon radar, which you can only get by completing the pokedex. But I can't get slowpoke until I complete the pokedex, which I need slowpoke to do. It becomes a circular problem.

Does anyone know where I can see a Slowpoke? Once I see one, I can trade for it on GTS.

Are you sure slowpoke and slowbro are part of the Sinnoh pokedex? I have the National Dex and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen either of those.

Whoops, good call. You're right, I must have been mistaken. Now to go back and see which two I missed.

Question for the Pokemasters:

Something strange happened to me last night. I was fishing in this cave. Now everytime I fish, the only thing Ive ever caught were Magikarp. Now this time I again caught a Magikarp, but this one was... different. Every Magikarp Ive ever seen is like an orange color, but this one was yellow/gold colored. I wanted to catch it, but I killed it in one hit. I fished again but only caught regular orange colored magikarps.

I remember talking to someone in the game that told me about different colored Pokemon. Thats what Im assuming this was. It was gold colored, but still just a crappy level 5 magikarp. So what the hell did I encounter? Is there any benefit or stat boost to a different colored Pokemon? Thanks,
What the crap? Flash is a TM now? That's lame.
Agreed. I was surprised as well. Luckily you can buy it somewhere so you can reteach it just in case... but still, yes, that's quite lame.
The only difference is color, but you did just kill something that only happens once in a few hundred thousand encounters, if I remember correctly.
god...dammit... :bomb:

My only consolation is that the description on that site calls the Magikarp, 'The worlds weakest Pokemon' lol

but Im still pissed! :bomb:
What the crap? Flash is a TM now? That's lame.
Flash sucked, I don't see the problem. It was incredibly inaccurate and there existed many moves that did the same thing only better. When even sand-attack is a better move then you know you're in trouble. Defog is kinda of the same idea though it's battle function is much more unique by lowering your foe's evasiveness. Neither is a good move, but flash was just weak, good riddance

Not to make you feel worst, but it would have evolved into an awesome red Gyrados which is one of the most popular overused pokemon in the metagame

I just got curious and plugged in my Gardevoir's stats into an IV calculator. I'm going for a special Sweeper, it's modest, and it has 252 EVs in sp Atk, 252 in Spd, and 6 Hp. It's IV for Sp Atk is 1. Should I start it over now? It's level 54...

Ok Im looking for some advis on moves for a couple of my guys

What is a good physical move for gyrados he has ice fang right now?

Dragonite has Thunder,Blizzard,Draco Meteor, and F blast
I want to get rid of blizzard it sucks looking for a good physical move.

I can understand why nintendo doesn't want us abusing the pal-park by letting us use it only once a day, but couldn't they have considered at least letting us know how many more hours we have to wait to use it again since they insisted on making it a 24-hr period

Is there an easy way to figure out what pokes I'm missing in my pokedex? Like a list? Please help me gents!

Also still looking for a dragon scale.

Well, after battling with halu, I decided to redo my entire team and do some EV training. I just need to find a good place for special defense now.

What fire type pokemon do you guys recommend using?

find the missing numbers in your pokedex and use a list from a strategy site to look them up

If you do not want to use a legendary then I would suggest Charizard or Arcanine.

I would highly recommend against Charizard, he's incredibly screwed in the metagame. Stealth Rock is rapidly replacing Spikes since it affects levitating and flying pokemon, and 'Zard is 4x weak to it due to being Fire/Flying. Arcanine, Ninetales or Magmortar would be a much better idea

Fire tends to be screwed whenever it's in dual-types, the notable exception being Fire/Fighting. It doesn't help that fire's weaknesses are all popular move types, water, ground and now rock thanks to Stealth Rock and Stone Edge entering the fray. Fire/Rock: 4x weak water, 4x weak ground, 2x Fighting; Fire/Ground: 4x weak water 2x weak Ground; Fire/Flying: 4x weak Rock, 2x weak Water, 2x Electric

I suggested Charizard because I am nostalgic for the original generation. The old generation of attacks did not pose must danger to his duel type aside from Rock Slide. I have not learned all the new ones, but by the looks of it he may be a bad choice.

So yeah, go with Arcanine or Rapidash.

Okay, so the vitamins gives 10 EV points each. Now if my pokemon have the pokerus, it doesn't count as 20 EV points each right?

I'm pretty sure pokerus only applies during EV points earned from battle.

Does macho brace and pokerus also double (4x with both) the EV points for the pokemon holding exp share in the party?

I think your pokemon can get all 4 ev points if you do the traditional stop'n'swap method of exp-sharing. I don't believe the exp share will double ev points even if your pokemon has the pokerus

Hey guys. I'm in a predicament. I had to rebuild my team after realizing how horrible spiritomb and sableye were. So far, I'm working on completing it as it is in my sig. However, I'm starting to feel skeptical about my Tyranitar.

Dont's get me wrong though, he's a beast. But in order for him to be effective he has to get 1 or 2 dragon dances up to be effective. But after that, it's all downhill (Mean look and taunt are extra helpful with that). So my main problems with him is trying to pull out those dragon dances and keeping him alive and the fact that he has sandstorm, which chips away at the rest of my team if he's not the last one.

So, should I keep Tyranitar and try to tough it out, or switch to something easier like Salamence which is usually playable out of the box.

so i finally beat the game last night
anyone kno a good pokes or type of poke(sweeper annoyer w/e) aka i really dont kno how to balance it out
atm i think im gonna go with my modest gengar that i need to reset evs on and i guess get a dragon dance adamant larvitar for tyranitar?

So I was wondering if Wailord is still a viable pokemon to use for battling, I'm also trying to pick between the 2 fire/fighting starters. Opinions welcome.

Hm... I never saw the interest in Wailord outside of a scapegoat defense... as far as I see it has poor defense, decent attack, and a good HP.

Water Types are always my issue I like to have one around but between appearance and the sheer number available I have a tough time choosing, I sorta like a team I like to look at besides the movesets.

In the past my battle teams consist of a combo of 7 pokemon named for the seven deadly sins. So I would try and keep them in with the theme to a point.

Anyways what water types do you feel are battle ready choices?
*EDIT* I looked over some stats and Swampert is looking like a solid choice.

Most of the consensus I've seen finds Infernape to be better than Blaziken because of his higher base-speed. The move-pools I'm not too sure about since I haven't really trained either

I need to come up with my battle team since my friends are starting to finish up and get to end game.
Here's my line up so far.
Weavile(adamant)@ Choice Band Ev's 252 Att, 252 spd, 6 def
Ice Punch
Brick Break
Night Slash
Aerial Ace

Infernape(jolly)@ ??? Ev's 252 Att, 252 spd, 6 hp
Close Combat
Flare Blitz
U-Turn
Thunder Punch

From here I'm shakey but I like the idea of using Gliscor, some sort of psychic or ghost type, Something to deal with ground or rock, Swampert (Eq, Waterfall, Avalanche , Hammerarm/Counter/MirrorCoat/Rest) maybe?, and for my last spot maybe Electivire or Slaking

I've finished up the game and am currently working on getting items for EV Training, but before I begin I'd like some critique on my planned team, sorry the Excel paste is sloppy as hell:

Wait, why would you give Empoleon and Magmortar two special moves of the same type. it boogles my mind, since you're reducing your overall type-coverage when you could probably fish another move up. your team seems to be purely sweeper-base, and while there's nothing wrong with that it means your approach is more limited. No support moves at all seems a little strange.

For each of them, one move hits everyone in 2v2 battles, but is either weaker or less accurate, while the other move hits a single target and compensates for the power or accuracy of the first move.

As for type coverage, all types are covered except Flying, of which there are no pokemon that are "Single-Type Flying", and while it is currently a "sweeper-team", I'm certainly open to suggestions on how to determine which support moves to take, and which pokemon should have them (I'm currently thinking my more "Miscellaneous" pokemon would be best suited for this, Mismagius and Gachomp.)
