Discuss E3!

Ya I still say it doesnt salvage the show. First there still wasnt enough big announcments. Id say Mario pulled it from a D- to a C- show but they have a long way to go.

oh wow.. awesome. i still prefer a silent samus but whatever I'm still down with it.
They've salvaged their show. I don't think they can get best show but at least they made up for last year.

Metroid is now my official most hyped up game of the show.

anyone got a link got sony on GT.. i'm getting site maintenance message

I still disagree. I say that Mario and Metroid deffintly helped. But the games shown were a C to C+ range at best and if you judge based not on games only but on presentation id still give the show a D to D+ since it was paced soooooo horribly. They should have cut out Iwatas presentation or started it with that and cut the Girl games out then spaced Metroid and Mario out ending the show with a montage of the new stuff or something.

It was like suffering through an hour of bad sex just to get the juicy wad at the end......ewwww that was a bad analogy.....

Pretty sure Nintendo will once again have the worst received conference out of the three, although it was slightly better than last year.

 you guys are way too tough of a crowd. I'm not saying it was their best show. i'm not even saying it compares to the other two big ones. would you agree that it was at least 3 times better than last years wiifit/wiimusic fiasco? I admit a lot of their games weren't new but at least they were decent. FF, KH, MvDK these are good games people.

Yes I would however they had more ground to cover this year and besides that its not that im being rough its that Nintendo isnt doing enough. It may please fanboys like Dr Mario Kart that they are receiving the most games but when your showing 2 platforms and 1 of them is crap like girl mystery games......ya it aint good. Quantity is good but quality is ooooo so much better.

yes it was 10X better, but compared to microsoft it was dookie!!

the good
SMG2
New Metroid
Golden sun ds
KH DS which we already knew about
the new Mario game for wii

the bad
they had like 15 other titles that sucked
a new crapp peripheral

that's all i'm saying for Nintendo it was a good showing. I'm not saying it was a good showing in general or that as a whole Nintendo's show was in the top percent, but last year it was awkward speeches and games that we have absolutely zero interest in. This year we got a lot less 0i games. and even Iwata's speech wasn't as awkward as Cammy's last year. plus we got more decent games. I think the main issue is that most of the games that were interesting were not news to us. I've see the Crystal Bearer's trailer, and we've known about KH:ds: for years now. I'm going to completely ignore the Wii Vitality because I'm not an idiot and, like most the the Wii[insert word here] games before it, it will suck balls.

well there's nothing to be gained from retreading the same ground right now so i guess it's off to Sony we go.. are they going to broadcast it in home anyone know?

Do you see me grading anyone yet? I'm just putting numbers out.

Nintendo's presentation style is horrible. As far as the actual games, it was similar to the Microsoft conference, nearly all known titles in known franchises - Their main difference being MS was split 9-5 shooters and Nintendo was 5-16 shooters

Metroid just drop kicked Microsoft in the balls

Why? Something NO ONE saw coming. NO ONE. Galaxy 2 was hinted at, but not that. Not by that team.

I wouldve been more impressed by Metroid except Shadow Complex already beat them to the punch yesterday - 2.5D platforming/shooting + occasional 3D

For all of the people that they have with marketing expertise/experience (Reggie, Cammie) you would think that Nintendo would be able to put together a decent presentation. For all of the flak that they received after last year's press conference and the diminshing sales in Japan and the U.S. they needed to gain some momentum coming out of the show. With Sony now having the last conference and with some high-profile games/announcements already known, Nintendo's show will pretty much be an afterthought/disappointment.

Of course, much of this doesn't translate into the retail space (just look at Wii Fit last year), and Nintendo knows that.

Well first off your the guy that has in the past said that all that matters is the number of games a system receives not if their quality. So its an easy assumption to make that your trying to yet again say just because they have shown more it was better.

Second though no it wasnt equal to MS's press conference. L4D2 was new and a huge deal. Crackdown 2 was new and a large deal. MGS is new, potentially several games and a huge deal. Halo Reach was new and a huge deal. And the motion sensor was new, a huge deal and presented in a way that made Wii motion controls look bad.

I dont even like Halo very much and LOATHE the Metal Gear series where as I flipping love Mario so that was the biggest announcement of E3 on a personal level.....but I can still set aside bias and see where MS had not only a better presented conference but showed by far more new and big titles.
So far, every conference has been shit and I expect Sony to do likewise.
lol why do u say that?

The media widely reported that Nintendo won last year.

Everyone was predicting either a new Mario or Zelda so its not that surprising. Meanwhile again MS had stuff like LFD2 which was not seen as coming. So thats pretty equal.

I think essentially whats happening now is people are showing where their loyalties lie and judging by what they want the most not whats fair. We havnt seen the Sony fanboys yet but after their press conference they will be in here too putting a spin on things regardless of how good or bad the conference is(im expecting a good year for Sony).

THIS IMAGE STILL HOLDS TRUE

Goddamn Natal, goddamn Wii Sports Resort and Style Savvy...!
The media widely reported that Nintendo won last year.
Ummmm no it didnt. The gaming media reported all were lack luster with some calling a win for MS some for Sony. The non gaming media called a win for Nintendo but they also like you know nothing about games(well guess thats unfair, you know about games you just let your biases lead you).

Again listen to joystiqs, gamerswithjobs, gametrailers bonus round and invisble walls, giant bombcast or any other industry shows or podcasts. All the talk has been how Nintendo had a crap year last year and really needed to bring it big this year.

See this is exactly why I called you on posting the numbers, because you simply want Nintendo to look good no matter what.

Well, I loved the Nintendo conference now I can get my a 90 year old grandma a Wii so she can check her blood pressure!
The media widely reported that Nintendo won last year.
in sales maybe but the conference was panned.
Everyone was predicting either a new Mario or Zelda so its not that surprising.
no one was predicting a new Zelda after we learned of Spirit Tracks at GDC. and we did get a Mario. So the fact that we also got Metroid IS a surprise. Noone thought we'd get a metroid. If you had a list of every nintendo franchise and listed which ones we thought we'd see at E3. Metroid would have been bottom rung. Kirby, Pikmin, Starfox these would have been higher than Metroid.

I do agreee that L4D2 was equally as surprising. maybe 1% less surprising.

L4D2 came up late, but it wasn't the surprise Metroid was. Nintendo's Press Conference went from bad to good to awesome in the span of 10 minutes.

Also, don't discount Golden Sun DS. And NSMBW looked okay, not great. Now if it had wi-fi play, the discussion changes.
bailing out until Shooter Conference 2
Again showing your bias. First off it shows that your judging the companies with these silly little comments. Second off it again shows how ignorant you are about what is aviabile on each system. I am not a shooter fan nor are many others yet am still happy owning a 360 and want a PS3 badly because of games like Culdcept, Crackdown, Lost Oddyssey, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, Disgaea and Valkyria Chronicles. Get off Nintendos jock already and join the rest of us in big boy land where things are no more then what they are.

Dragon Ball Z.

megatons... MGS Rising on 360, SMG2, new Metroid

cool stuff/new news/interesting crap.... natal, milo thing, golden sun ds, LFD2,

what am i missing?
in sales maybe but the conference was panned. no one was seriously predicting a new Zelda after we learned of Spirit Tracks. and we did get a Mario. So the fact that we also got Metroid IS a surprise. Noone thought we'd get a metroid.

The numerous podcasts I listen to were all calling for most likely a new Mario game and saying if they didnt deliver Zelda it would be Metroid. Nintendo HAD to do 2 big games like this MS didnt have to show L4D2 nor was it a game that anyone thought we would see so soon. Again listen to some podcasts and watch some shows from the last 2 weeks or so.

Metroid was a surprise maybe even as big of a surprise as LFD2 but its a flipping fanboy thing to do to say Nintendo after a meh hour won based on 1 game when MS showed more. Realistically too the surprises are nice and I LOVE them however they are not what makes the show. A price drop from Sony is talked about and we already know the new PSP is coming but that wont make their of them less a big deal being officially shown.

Meh im just going to ignore him and suggest you do the same. I have had similar arguments with him a million times and logic just aint a language he understands. Whatever gets Nintendo in the lead is whats right.
unce unce unce unce unce unce
Sniff sniff I know its like my mind is being raped by club music!

And furashu I think you hit it dead on. They will also show some stuff like R&C and my guess is there will be 1 big game that we havnt heard about up to this point....im holding my breathe for Sly Cooper 4(even though with INfamous hype up this is the perfect time to announce Sly 4)or Dark Cloud 3 but it will probaly be some type of shooter or new franchise that I most likely wont care about ;(

no one is saying they won. I'm just saying it was good. Personally I think it went from lacklucker to awesome. but objectively I have to limit myself to good.

conversely it's kinda of a fanboy thing to say they only showed one game. most of the nintendo games were stuff we already knew about sure but then at this point most of the Sony stuff we already know about (or so it seems before the start of show. anyway i gotta see what they're showing first.

random question, why is E3 in the morning and not night?
wasnt it previously held at night?

oh yeah MAG needs to get Dated...........
