Discuss E3!

that centaur kill was just so violent. oh good lord they're all so deliciously violent. i just assumed the wings were from an earlier game i haven't gotten to yet.

i hate motion controls but the ps3 stuff was cool especially when he used a sword and shield and a bow and arrow. now can these things be used in a real game?

Well played. Thats probably 2 years in a row for Sony. Throw out everything you've got regardless of release dates. Keep people optimistic for the future.

GT5 looked gorgeous, but the Forza 3 trailer was more impressive in my opinion, I'll be probably getting both. GoW3 looks pretty awesome, but I never was a big fan of the series. FF14 is a MMO (or at least an online game), but only on PS3? That's kind of weird, I played FF11 for a while but only on PC.

G4 is freaking out about the motion control, I'm not sure why. I thought that was the weakest part of their presentation.

Last Guardian (calling it now - the flying dog dies at the end) and Uncharted 2 looked great. Not much else really grabbed me, although some of that may be due to Sony not knowing how to present stuff. Awkwardly cutting off the God of War 3 demo was the icing on the shit-cake. The dildo controller has some potential if it works as advertised and people can come up with worthwhile games for it.
what the fuck thats it!?
how long were you expecting it to go on for? it's been going on for a while at this point.

i heard someone suggest that the creature might be something like a hippogriff with it's wings cut of.
here's the old version

i still say it looks a little better now. the eyes for instance aren't glowing or to be more accurate reflecting.

Last Guardian looked just like all the other Trico games. An overated turd that only resonates with the artsy crowd. Seriously the whole series has lacked gameplay of any type....its zelda without action, oblivion without citizens inhabiting its world. Its DULL!

I try to not say games I dislike are bad(again hate MGS, Halo and much of whats been shown)but Christ the Trico games are just so freaking overrated.

GT5 with nascar racing was surprising. Also, was that car damage that I saw in the rally portion of the video?. God Of War III is a day 1 purchase for me, Uncharted 2 is looking awesome. PSP Go price tag is too much IMO. Apart from the sales info, motion sensing controller and that cart racer, It was a pretty solid presentation.

This e3 was a huge step up from last year, all three of them done alot better this year. If I were to rate the conferences it'll go Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo.

The Microsoft conference was definitely the best, great way to open the whole show. Got me really exciting about video games and the industry, but boy is my wallet going to be light after all these games I want to get.

I actually really enjoyed the Sony briefing they are definitely moving forward as a company. There were quite alot of laughs and cheers throughout and Sony made a few jokes which the audience liked, unlike Nintendo that tried joking around and it pretty much failed.

I am fixed about the Nintendo briefing it was alright but it had nothing on Microsoft or even Sony for that matter. Mario Galaxy 2 and new Metroid was a surprise though.

Man, at least Nintendo had new games to show and it's hard to get excited for Gran Turismo 5 when it's been delayed this long. That and their dildo, goddamn...

I Guess those Wii moms need something to advance to after the wii-mote.

Oh yeah, one BIG question already is where the hell was Square Enix's other BIG Sony Final Fantasy exclusive? By that I mean Final Fantasy XIII: Versus? They can already show a game that'll probably come out in 2012, but Versus is no where to be seen or head.

Forgot the extra I in 13...

the controls seem kind of odd for this kind of game, almost racer-ish. you walk with R2, and steer your head/body with the left stick

Did you miss the Final Fantasy XIV trailer/announcement?
Did you miss the Final Fantasy XIV trailer/announcement?
you didnt' read what he wrote. he's saying why is Sony showing XIV when it's not coming out for so long and showing XIII that's multiplat and nowhere did they show XIII VS which is aplaystation exclusive that's coming soon.

With the Star Wars MMO coming out and the Juggernaut that is WoW, I'm not sure how well FF14 will do, especially if it's truly a ps3 exclusive. I play it if it wasn't as grindy as FF11.

I'm not sure there's anything in a Final Fantasy MMO that could give it a chance. Maybe if it was free.. maybe. what i don't get is why any of the numbered FFs would be an MMO? i mean what's the point. why not make a FF spinoff the MMO. We can't get a decent FF (much less one of the main numbers) on the Nintendo hardware in spite of our install base and you're throwing away 14 as an MMO?
Out of your mind.
How so? We saw MS paint and play kick ball on stage. Then they cut to video where Peter Molyneux begged and pleaded with us to believe Milo was real. Conspicuously he was not "on-stage".
Sony's demo wasn't perfect either but at least they were really interacting with it on-stage. The Natal on-stage demo showed me what I should be able to do with the current XBL camera. The light source issues alone are going to make this thing instant junk.
Personally I'm sick of everyone trying to shove motion-control into consoles. When I want to exercise, I go to the gym.
I won't buy either device until they're clearance at Target or TRU.

Get a 360 or a PS3. Much better investments than the Wii.

a) i have a PS3
b) don't come in just to hate on my console of choice bro.

peace out folks. might as well get some work done now.

I think Microsoft won the press conference war with Sony in 2nd and Nintendo in 3rd.

Nintendo did better than last year but I am not feeling Cammie. It always feels like she is talking down to me like she is right and we are wrong. Natel really blew the tech demo stuff of motion control off the door. Hopefully it is more finished by next year's E3. The PSEye thing seems like we have seen it before and not as good as the Microsoft one.

Nintendo's pulse thing seemed like a joke. Did they buy a ton of them on wholesale or something?

I Think (by a wide margin) Microsoft first followed by Nintendo then Sony for the press conference.

Microsoft goes without saying. Sony I only gave third because man, that was a long ass press conference with not much to get me excited. Gran Turismo (both of them) looked nice, but hard to get excited for them when they were supposed to come out around launch on their respected consoles. That and FF14 just wasn't expecting and almost want to say "too soon?"

Nintendo gets second by default because man, despite hate seeing and/or hearing Cammie (plus lack of Fatal Frame announcements) they at least had some games I was happy to see. Though it almost seems routine in what they show, Nintendo REALLY needs a new IP.

but... versus 13 ISNT coming out for a while.
who said its coming SOON?
FF14 is coming out next year.

/confused.

Sony
-Glad to see they're picking it up. Not a lot I'm looking forward to, but it's hard to deny their position is getting stronger.

.....
I really wanted a slimmer Ps3, though. Maybe one will be out by the time I finish basic.

Microsoft

-Natal has me excited for it's non-gaming applications. If they find good uses for it with Windows 7,I'm going to wire a few HD tv's into a home server and go ape-shit.
-XBLA is getting better and better.
-Good game lineup. Not too many I'd purchase outright, but Definitely some fun looking shite.

Nintendo
-Eh,I'm pretty over motion controls, but Nintendo did way better this year.
- Metroid M is easily the most interesting title, followed by NSMB2)classic side scrolling action; what Mario games are best at).

- Galaxy 2, ehhhhh, I don't know. Galaxy was fun, but I kinda want something different.

-DS games might be their strongest weapon.

Not too exciting, but way better than last year's snoozefest. I bet bigger and better announcements will leak out toward the end of summer. Easy.

Here's what gets me about the Natal. From their "vision movie" or whatever you call it, they're promising a lot. True voice commands, gesture interface, the entire play-without-a-controller thing...if it works as well as they say its going to work, yeah, it'll be something special. I just have reservations about how true that'll turn out. From their demos on stage and the reports I've read of closed-door Milo testing, there looks to be a lot of "man behind the curtain"-ing going on still.

The PS Motion thing, on the other hand, didn't make many promises at all. It came out, showed what it was capable of, and that was it. It's not saying it's going to change the way we play games.

I Doubt FF14 is coming out next year. I'm saying this based on the fact I can't remember any FF game coming out on time at the planned hyped year. FF12 took how long? That and Versus 13 I just kinda figured if they have the manpower to work on 14 then why have we heard nothing new from that one? It's Sony exclusive and I figure it'll turn more heads then the online based 14 (but that maybe my general bias).

Knowing how much time and effort has been put into GT, I don't think that you (or anyone) should have expected that game up for launch. GT is like a interactive digital library for cars. Plus they took photographs of inside the car to get the interiors right.

I understand where you are coming form since I'm also skeptical of Natal. They showed some things on stage that were impressive and Milo was very impressive but as you can tell it is far from anything but a tech demo. If Natal comes through with it's promise it will change the way we play "some" games.

The PS Motion controllers didn't show me much more than a Wii Motion+ controller in each hand. Why would it make the claim that it will change the way we play games because Sony knows it will be put to use the same way Wii Motion+ games.

Remember this is E3 it is likely that either one of these products won't be used until the next generation of consoles in 2-4 years.

I'm addicted to E3 coverage. This is my favorite time of the year. I'm watching random coverage videos on Gamespot and jumping to IGN whenever they have anything on.

What else is coming up? We get Square-Enix conference tomorrow right?

I'm so addicted to soaking up ALL the details right now.

The motion controllers can do a few things that two Wii Motion+ can't. Namely, each "wand" will be able to know where it is in relation to the other. Also, it's probably capable of figuring out how far the wand is from the camera (using basic trig). You can't call it just Wii Motion+. It should be able to do more than that.

As far as release dates are concerned, the Sony people said they expect it to be out in Spring 2010, whereas Microsoft is mum on both cost and release date, though I'd be very surprised if they get theirs out before Sony.

Either way though, neither will succeed unless they get games on them that're actually fun.

Good point, you know the Big 3 did a good job overall, each console had stuff for their fans, and I think that in the end that's all you can ask for.

I agree 100%. I'm not expecting Natal this generation, and I'm guessing Sony's new controllers will be bundled with a Wii Sportsesqe game and a slimmer and cheaper PS3. I doubt we will see it next spring but next year is a good possibility. I could be way off base but this is how I see it. It seems that only Nintendo can sell addons.

The Guitar Hero / Rock Band people take issue with that last statement, but I get your point. Though, I'd argue they aren't selling addons, as much as they're selling games that are enhanced by addons (which they can then increase the price of, since it includes the addon).

The thing that worries me about any of these new peripherals...since people will have to buy them, they won't be on every console out there. Developers that choose to make games for them are already greatly limiting their potential market before they write a single line of code. These things will only really take off if they're bundled with all consoles and/or they're giving them away.

I am not impressed by Natal. A few of the games I already played with eye toy/ vision cam.

And Milo is an even bigger disappointment. It seems to be another version of Seaman or the import only N.U.D.E. Since this is Peter Molyneux we are talking about the final game wont do half the stuff promised.

I just like how when shit like Natal and the PS3 motion is shown, it's like a big deal. But when Nintendo introduced the Wiimote, it gets hated on?

The ironing is delicious.
