Dollhouse Friday Nights on FOX at 9pm est-Update 10/24

I have tried to watch this show but some times I just can't. I started to only watch it because of who was in it and that nothing is on for the hour between T:TSCC and BSG. I wan't to like this show but find that I just keep the TV on and go do something else. I think by the end of the season it will really pick up and I will be able to watch it but by that time I think it will be to late.

I think the show is just so-so, but I'm in love with Dichen Lachman.

I have to say Dichen Lachman is hoter then Eliza Dushku. I would rather see her more on this show then Dushku. I hope this show does pick up soon.

Yeah, cat-cheekbones girl has been growing on me. The last episode was pretty good. I'm still kind of torn on the series. Its a very interesting premise, but the episodes are all kind of meh. Only 2 more until its supposed to get good though.

While this show is interesting, I can't see it airing for much longer. By comparison to shows like Chuck or Fringe, there is really no plot. Yes, I think it's interesting she gets her memory wiped every time, and this whole "Alpha" side-bar *MIGHT* pick it up a bit, but I doubt it. It would be similar to a Stargate-esque show without any plot when they are not on missions. When you base a good majority of your 'grab' on girls in skimpy outfits (Both during the show, and at those '90 seconds...' breaks), and the rest on an uninteresting subplot, you get the numbers for a short period before people lose interest.

The problem is this was only the fourth episode and they are already throwing in some mystery man that can do wipes over a phone and has these crazy powers. They need to get a solid foundation first which I don't think they did. I watch it on Hulu during lunch every week, and Eliza is nice to look at so I will keep watching but I don't see this show getting past season 2.

I am trying to like it...but its ehhh.

show is more like what someone mentioned earlier, a high class brothel.
It's barely started. Things should really pick up in the 6th ep.
Tonight is the 5th ep so just a little longer.

Calling his latest creation's first episodes mere "baby steps," Joss Whedon is getting the word out that from Episode 6 on, Fox's Dollhouse will be an extra-compelling place to visit.
In a note to reporters (or "Newsly Types," as he puts it) accompanying a DVD of "Man on the Street" (airing March 20) and "Needs" (April 3), Whedon says, "These two episodes represent a much stronger vision of what I consider the show to be."
Thus far, Dollhouse has been met with a lukewarm reception, with Whedon loyalists in particular noting a lack of the author's trademark witty dialogue. The ratings have reflected such a frustration, dropping 25 percent from the premiere to barely 3.6 million heads at last count.
But since almost before Dollhouse opened its doors, the buzz has been that the structure of the first five hours was largely dictated by Fox, so as to drive home the unusual concept and morally gray characters. Episode 6, thus has been described as "game-changing," as Tahmoh Penikett's Agent Ballard comes face-to-face — and "fist-to-fist," teases Fox — with Echo (Eliza Dushku) for the very first time.
Says Whedon in his missive, "For me, the question isn't just whether a show is enjoyable, but whether it's more than the sum of its fun, whether it truly touches, surprises or connects with you. These [episodes] may do none of the above — I'm not the boss of your opinion — but I feel strongly that they, and the eps to follow, are pretty intense, and very much worth the watching."
What say you, Dollhouse and/or Whedon fans? Are you prepared to engage with Echo a bit more?

Dollhouse saw a 22% increase this week to 4.33M. Fox doesn't expect blockbuster numbers for this show, especially on Fridays, so the show still has a legitimate chance at lasting.

Dont forget to watch dollhouse tonite.
I Tivo it since i work all nite.
Or catch it on Hulu.com
Also Dollhouse got 4.6 million viewers the 2nd week and did awesome on itunes.
People are really starting to love this show.

I haven't watched it yet but i will before the night is up.
I saw the clip the agent and Echo are gonna bang.
Finally get to see her fight like her Buffy/Angel days.
Bout damn time.

I'll have to watch this episode on Hulu, the Battlestar Galactica series finale took a much higher priority for me personally. In the central time zone Dollhouse was on at the same time as the first hour so I would expect the rating to be down this week.

This is it y'all.
Finally the sow is getting awesome. Only took a few episode to get there.
Finally a good fight scene with Echo.
Anyone notice that when ehe Agent was fighting Echo he had that wife beater look in his eyes. Like hoW dare a women hit him AND HE WASN'T SCARED TO KNOCK A WOMEN OUT. And Echo did kick his *ss.

Now we just wait to see if Amy Acker character gets in the action.

I just watched the last episode on Hulu and I really enjoyed it, it's easily the best episode of the series so far. More then any other episode this season this episode felt like an episode of a Joss Whedon show. Hopefully they'll be able to maintain the quality in future episodes.

Couldn't agree more! There were some definite standout "Joss lines" in this episode.

"If they'd had it in my day, I'da had Betty Grable every night...or Ida Lupino. Every man that fought for his country should have the right to an Ida Lupino."

"Who is this? You know this man? Is this a porn man???"
"NO, THERE'S NO PORN!!!!" (nobody does the frustrated nerd quite like Patton Oswalt. This really made me miss King of Queens)
*points* "Porn!!!"

"Just once, nothing queenie. Just two guys checking it out, and then the other one forgets. That could be sweet for some guys..." *concerned look from wife*

That's Joss Whedon writing at its finest! :D I really believe what Joss said about Fox being in charge of those first five episodes. Can't wait to see where the show goes from here!

I watch it on Hulu at work on saturday nights. Not bad, catch it after TSCC also on hulu. Its got potential, depends on where they take it for sure...

I'm not one to say I told you so...actually, in this case, yes I am.:) Never listen to people who crap all over something without even (or barely even) trying it. Whedon is very good at telling a layered story and having his backstory/mythology in place well in advance (what's up, Heroes). The ratings had a miniscule dip but the show actually moved up to 3rd from 4th. The series finale of BSG cut into it somewhat. Hopefully between word of mouth and no BSG next week's episode will see an increase. This show definitely deserves a second season.
Slipped a bit from the events of last week, but Whedon's trademark dialogue is really beginning to resurface.
Agreed about the dialogue. Classic stuff with the out-of-character behavior of so many...characters. I just Austin Powers'd myself. Not every episode can sustain the tension of last week's. You have to have some dips to appreciate the peaks. I thought it maintained the momentum really well leading in to next week's ep, which should be huge.

I'm glad to hear the show has improved. Honestly, though, I never understand why people were ragging against it. Ok, the first episode wasn't the best, but few Pilots are, but it was still was ok and setup some interesting points for the series. The second episode, which many lambasted as being a 10 steps back and being terrible, was actually pretty interesting and in my view, better than the first. I'm hoping to get caught up on the series probably next week through Hulu. I hope Hulu ratings get factored into the show and they extend it for another season (I also wish Fox would put up the past seasons of terminator on hulu, as I'd watch them and get caught up, and then would watch the show when it airs since I hear a lot of good things about it).

Yes, next weeks episode looked pretty epic.

Ya this week was ok.
Cool to see how a new doll gets into the Dollhouse.
Next week is gonna be killer.
Maybe Amy will get in on the action.

I just finished Dollhouse episode 3 off of Hulu. Not bad, but I really hated the middle parts of the story with the interactions between Echo and that retarded Rayna singer. She's a terrible actress that makes my teeth grate whenever she's on screen, whoever they picked to act as Rayna. Again, the mythos to the dollhouse are starting to pick up and get somewhat interesting. I liked the allusions to Aasimov's I, Robot, that these Dolls are programmed properly even when they might seem to go outside of the parameters given to them. The plot twist in the middle of the storyline was the best of the show, and it really through me off, as I hadn't expected it (solid writing there). The twist with Rayna was retarded........
I sort of wish she had died
They need to put some more time for the agent on the show, so to develop him a bit more. The shows backstory has really picked up, and this is what I find interesting, moreover than this episodes lame independent plot line.

No offense, but your post felt a bit like time travel back to a month ago, and echoes (*ba dum ching!*) the sentiments that a lot of people had. Things have picked up IMMENSELY since then. Catch up with us and you'll enjoy the show a lot more. As others have mentioned, Joss wasn't really in control of the first five eps. Once you watch episode six, you'll be hooked!

And to any longtime Joss fans, didn't this episode kinda remind you of
the "Band Candy" episode from Buffy when Giles, Joyce and Principal Snyder started acting like their teenage selves? It wasn't exact, but just the concept of seeing these dignified people of authority acting loopy and childish. And then having Adelle poking fun at herself for being "too British". That just felt like old time Joss to me.
Great episode!

Im actually starting to really enjoy this show... I didnt think it I could after watching episode 3 and how bad the story and acting was...

Now I kind of look forward to it... I dont want to be hooked for another one of his canceled shows!

Yeah, I know I've got to get caught up, but I'm already hooked on the show, so what can I say. I've really liked the current crop of sci-fi popping up TV (especially Fringe). I'm intrigued by a lot of the Dollhouse, as I have a lot of my own made up storylines that I think they are going to develop into the show, and what can I say, Dushku and whoever plays Sierra are fucking hot.
Speaking of Fringe, it returns next week.
I know.:D It's been marked on my calendar since they took it off the air for some retarded reason so they could show more American Idol, or whatever the reason was (don't remember now, but I think that was it).

Personally, I thought this past episode was quite awesome myself. They're starting to weave a twisted web of "who's in control". Feels like it's building up to a huge finale with 4 episodes to go.

I think I'm 2 eps behind. I just watched the one where we learned
Agent Ballard's neighbor is an active and can be controlled remotely by the Rushmore chick (which she said was impossible the episode before).
It was the first "Joss" episode, IMO, and I was laughing quite hard in several spots. I really really really hope Fox decides to renew it for another season - especially since all signs point to Terminator being canceled.

We're definitely getting all 13 episodes, and the DVD and Blu-Ray have been confirmed for a late July release. Lots of extra goodies including the unaired pilot Echoes. The last word on renewal was that's the way Fox was leaning. Hopefully Salvation will give T:SCC the boost it needs to stay on the air because it just keeps getting better.

As far as TSCC goes, networks make their decision to renew by early May at the very latest to allow enough lead time for production so the movie won't really play into the decision. Now if Fox holds TSCC as a possible midseason show then T:S might have some influence but only marginally even then.

Shit. Looks like Dollhouse is getting the axe already. Man those Fox executives are impatient. You'd think after what happened with Firefly they would have at least given this show a chance to succeed.

EDIT: OK, it looks like there is some confusion regarding the episodes that are going to be shown on Fox. THIS article explains it pretty well and claims that whether or not they pick up the series for a second season is "100% in the decision phase" whatever that means. I really hope they renew it. I feel like I've been screwed the past few years with shows getting canceled...

Here's TV Guide's take on it.

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dollhouse-Robbery-Truth-1004920.aspx

The truth behind a Dollhouse rumor circling the Internet is about as complicated as, well. Adelle DeWitt's appointment book.
The alarmist buzz is that fans of Joss Whedon's latest series are being deprived of seeing one of this season's episodes. Perhaps, the rumor goes, they won't even be getting the proper season finale.
The reality: Fox ordered 13 hours from Joss. The original pilot got scrapped, leaving a dozen to air. And all 12, including the legit season finale, which is titled "Omega," will be broadcast as planned.
So where is the hubbub coming from? Sources tell TVGuide.com that Dollhouse producer 20th Century Fox Television elected to script and shoot a 14th episode, on their own dime — perhaps to flesh out a DVD package, some speculate. Fox, though, at no point agreed to air that episode, titled "Epitaph One." Our insider further says that the fact that Fox took that stance should not be seen as a sign that the network has already made a decision about a Season 2 pick-up for Dollhouse, which has been battling so-so ratings.
"Epitaph One" is a standalone hour, and has no impact on the overarching Alpha storyline that reaches a boil — and launches several juicy new plot directions — in the May 8 finale.

Ya know, I'm so sick of these networks and their half-assed commitment to shows. The more this crap happens, the more I can see people just turning away from network television all together...well, except of course for stupid ass reality tv. It just feels like there's not a place for writers anymore. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

You've got a show like Dollhouse trying to create a strategic, drawn out storyline, but people don't have the patience for it. Then, you've got a show like Heroes that plays like a summer blockbuster in its first season, but loses steam by season two. Make up your minds TV execs. Is it a sprint or a marathon? If you're only looking at short term, just make a bunch of freaking mini-series and stop wasting our time on these stories with no endings, and getting invested in these characters, thinking we're going to have something to follow for 4-5 years. If they keep this up, everybody will be too snakebitten to give anything a chance.
