Dragon Age: Inquisition - E3 TRAILER

Debating if I want to do all this shard shit on this playthrough or a future one to get it out of the way once and for all. Hinterlands is already done but not even close on the others. The desert map where all you have to do is establish two camps is particularly trying me with all those damn cliffs. Also, random but kudos to the douche who thought it would be cute to make the schematics and other cool shit dependent on RNG for where you obtain them. Same with some of the codex entries and quest item triggers that drop with random ass loot from random enemies...the fuck?

Lol the first time on Storm Coast I got the Giant codex bit didn't see the scene. I saw what was supposed to play out this time. The Dragon fights off the Giant and I guess is the reason for it flying off. Sera and Iron Bull were both like woah! Can we just watch! I'm like, haha absolutely.
In relation to that dragon
it probably calls the island home due to being run out by the Giants. That particular Dragon was a bitch to take out too. Good flora there tough.

Man, a group of friends including Sim and I tried DA MP again and, woof, it just blows.  The characters move like they have butt rash and are trying to avoid chaffing and even on the easiest setting its just too hard.  I still haven't completed a single match.  I want to love it, because I adored ME3 MP, but it's just not the same.  Thank God the campaign is so darn good.

Sounds like you just need some pretty phantoms to scratch that butt rash for you

What do you guys think will happen with the CE guides? I found a couple at Best Buy today and picked em up, wonder if their value on Amazon ($70) is as good as it will get or if you guys think it will be worth more down the road?

Then first DA CE guide ended up being collectable, so there's a chance that Inquisitions will too. I tell ya, it's a nice CE guide. The developer info is insightful.

:bomb:

Grrrr...defeated my 10th and final dragon last night, got the in-game completion notice for "Dragon's Bane", but no corresponding achievement.  So, I knew this was glitched for a lot of people, but clarify for me:  Do I need to go back and fight the SAME dragon again or just any dragon from a previous save?  Because I'd rather just go back to one of the lower-leveled un-armored ones and get it over with quick.
Reload a save before one of the dragon fights and fight them again. I've heard that forces it to pop.
Yeah, I really like it. I got lucky enough to find one from GS during the 50% off sale and after a coupon paid $13, well worth that. I picked up 2 more at BB yesterday and one sold on Amazon last night for $70, not bad.

I can't believe the paper guides are going for almost $50 now. Makes me wish I had bought the mini-version I saw at Target for $10 right before Christmas to flip, like I did 2 full size paperback ones at Gamestop during the 50% off sale.

Kind of surprised we haven't heard anything about story DLC yet. Makes me think maybe they're winding up for a big Awakening-style expansion rather than a series of small DLCs...

Seriously? I think my Target still has a stack of those...

I know the HC guide has been on the up-and-up, though the softcover guide is going for those prices? I would think the softcover guide should still be easily accessible, though I guess not.

We can only hope. Would be nice. Though as long as it's on par with the DLC from DA: O or Legacy from DA2, then it'll be worth the wait.

Might be worth looking into for some cash infusions?

My only real hope with the DLC is that they've done whatever's necessary to secure the voice cast. So that they don't have to go the Origins route where every DLC had a new group of companions. I mean some guest characters would be fine, but I want to continue my adventures with Cassandra and Dorian. :)

We can only hope they were thinking that far ahead.

I'm on hard and I'm doing
In Your Heart Shall Burn... want to throw the Motherfuckin' controller.
Me as an Ice/Electrifying Mage, Sera as double dagger, Iron Bull as Two handed maul warrior, & Dorian as a barrier Mage.
I've gone through all my potions and there's too many enemies and my group has no health. There's 1 resupply crate, fucking 1. I think I need different companions, I can't get past this mission!

Iron Bull is probably your problem. Always the first one down and abuses the potions like a druggy. Try replacing him with Cassandra or Blackwall. I really like using the upgraded Charging Bull and Unbowed skills on the warrior class. It gives you a lot of guard.

Yeah I know right, shit I only have 8 potions Bull! I used Cassandra last time and I was a warrior heavy on guard last time so I might take Blackwall in then. The mission says level 8 to 11 and I'm 8 and having my ass handed to me in this final battle.

Well Amazon is getting restocked on the paperback guide next week so that ship has sailed, still made a nice profit on the 2 guides I bought for $11.25 plus tax during the GS sale then sold for $37 each; about $35-$40 profit after fees & shipping overage.

Looks like the hardback guide will end up being worth what the Origins hardback was; too bad the quality of the guide's walkthrough isn't as good.

I have even worse problems with Blackwall, even after I respec'd him properly to a S&S Champion Warrior, died way more often than Iron Bull, who did a little better once I fully fleshed out the Reaver tree.

But Cassandra still pwns in combat & has the deepest character arc.

Yeah that was crazy. To be fair my local GS sat on those paperback guides from launch, they got like 20 paperbacks at launch just because they had 3 preorders of the hardback and 1 of the paperbacks. When I bought 2 to flip midway through the GS sale they still had 7 left. By the time the sale was over they sold out b/c it was sold out everywhere else and people came in to get it.

If I sell a hardback guide, it's months or a year after I already bought it/used it and I have no interest in keeping the guide either b/c I don't play the game anymore or I will buy the paperback cheaper at another time. Or I have the digital copy of the guide and I can't justify not selling the physical hardback for ridiculous money (see Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix hardback guide.)

Blackwall should be a tank if you spec'd him mostly in the Vanguard, Battlemaster, and Champion Class. Tried this build:

Any reason why I shouldn't leave Sera as an archer if I'm using her as my primary rogue in my party?
I mostly run with Varric, but none that I can think of. Just make sure she has a good bow and decent gear. I really like her specialization once she's past level 10, too. She seems to hold up just fine in battles and I love her banter.

Dagger rogue AI in this game is like shotgun user AI in Mass Effect. They just love to run straight into the line of fire and get themselves killed.

Hey so MSU, are the mini guides at Target worth anything? Found 2 at my local Target but I can't seem to find an Amazon listing to sell them anywhere.

The mini versions are Target exclusive from what I can tell. They did the same thing size wise with the Madden guide as that size is the only one that fits in their current planogram around the Gamespot video billboard thing.

I would just sell it as the regular guide but note it's the compact Target version in the description with the same content just a more compact size. Like I said last night though that ship has sailed as Amazon and I assume GS and other places are getting restocked next week. Maybe EBay would still be an option.

OK, so I've got 40 hours into this game now after buying the digital version when it was on sale over the holidays. I'm trying to play completely spoiler-free and not even read up on specs/builds/etc for the characters.

But I do have a question. I bought the Deluxe version which is supposed to have all this extra stuff like a throne and a mount. And yet here I am 40+ hours in, I have Skyhold, and yet I don't seem to have any of these extras. How do you trigger the deluxe edition content? It seems like I'm pushing through the game and not that far from being done (if I ignore sidequests which I can't ;)), and yet that extra money I spent seems like it was a total waste.

Don't get me wrong, I fully expect to spend well over 100 hours on it since I feel like I have to get every last quest and collection thing done. But at the same time, I feel like I should be able to enjoy this extra content I paid for by this point. I ignored it for a while because I figured I hadn't unlocked it yet - but it has got to be time by now.

For example, I can now select different thrones and mounts at Skyhold. I only have 2 thrones (and one I unlocked doing something else) and just the one initial horse for a mount. I thought those deluxe edition versions would show up as options here...

OK, found this on gamefaqs:
Flames of the Inquisition Weapon and Armor - When you first start the game you will go through a LONG intro including killing an easy but cool boss. After that fight you will wake up in a bed, in that same room you will see a black chest on the floor. Your Armor and Weapon will be in there. (You will only get 1 weapon depending on what class you chose, not all of them. e.g. Rogue Archer gets the bow.)

Flames of the Inquisition Mounts (Bog Unicorn, Red Hart Halla, and FotI Armored Mount) - OK, first you will need to do a small amount of questing until you get to Hinterlands. Once there, look on your map to the FAR west. You will see a quest called "Master of Horses." This is the quest to learn how to ride and is very easy. After that go back to your War Room in Haven. Thats that big room with the HUGE map in it. You will need to look on that map for 3 quests (1 on the right side and 2 on the left,) all of which are for the 3 mounts. Click on each of them and you have your 3 mounts!!!

Skyhold Throne - This throne will be in the Inquisition Room in Skyhold...an area I have not gotten to yet but I think its somewhere in Dales. City is called...you guessed it, Skyhold.

Digital Soundtrack - Go to the DragonAge website on your computer (will not work on your PS or xbox.) First Sign in, if you dont have a username or password just make a new one, pretty easy stuff. Once your signed in, go to the "Media" Bar at the top of the main screen and click on "Soundtrack Download." Follow the onscreen instructions and your done.
Weapon and armor: OK, there may have been a chest way back then, I don't remember. If I got anything out of it, it wasn't all that great and I moved on from it. I have some odd unique weapon called Sweetish Fists or something that was never very good and I never used it. Did that come from there?

Edti #2: OK, apparently this is the weapon set: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Flames_of_the_Inquisition_Weapons_Arsenal

Yeah, I didn't get any of that!

Master of Horses: OK, I did this quest and as far as I can tell completed it, but then people just keep saying they hope that guy will join us. He hasn't - no one is in my Skyhold stables except for Blackwall. So the other quests have not unlocked I guess.

Throne: Just not there for me...

All in all, I'd say the extra $6 or so I spent on the deluxe version was a complete waste of money.

You get the steeds from missions at the war table. The horse master comes from a series of missions in the Hinterlands. You probably missed the initial armor, but it was immediately underpowered and I didn't like the look at that point in the game. Don't think you missed mch there, but you should have received armor and weapon schematics around the time you got to Skyhold.

Anybody else around that can explain better or fill in the blanks?

I'll go back to the Hinterlands, but I remember clearing that quest and nothing happened. Is it glitched perhaps?

I have a bunch of schematics but I don't remember any being specific to what was supposed to come with the add-on.

I missed the extra gear initially because I didn't connect online when I first started playing Dragon Age: Inquisition. In my second playthrough though, yeah chest in the house in Haven when you wake up in the beginning. The staff was ok and I liked the armor I got. I wore it up to when it became obsolete (which was pretty quick to be honest).

The mounts are war missions, where after you do that mission in the Hinterlands and recruit the horse dude (forgot his name), they'll be availabe requiring no time needed to complete. Start the mission and then collect your mount!

Once you reach level 10 & 15, you will automatically be given schematics to make more powerful versions of those initial bonus weapons & armor.

Yeah, so this is what happened. I bought the Deluxe Edition but apparently it only downloaded the regular game and not the add-on. I went to the store and found it this evening and it said "Install". So clearly I had paid for it, but it acted like I didn't have it yet. So I clicked on that, started up the game, and lo and behold, I had a bunch of stuff delivered to a chest right there in the Undercroft at Skyhold.

Yeah, the equipment was garbage for me at this level (like 15). But I also got those schematics and was able to craft slightly better armor than what I had had been using.

Also the 3 quests for the mounts showed up in the War room and I was able to swap the throne for the DLC one.

So, yeah, there you go. Those weapons would have been nice at the beginning. All in all, though, I'd say it definitely wasn't worth it ;).

Yep, that Undercroft chest is the new delivery spot. I got those red lyrium weapons from the web thing last night. They're powerful, but eeeeeevil. I still used the staff.

Wait, what web thing?

Edit: Never mind, found it. I did the first 3 parts but then on the last one I never see any prompts. I am running it on Windows Explorer. It just gets flickery and weird and tells me to keep exploring. I guess I'll have to start all over on a browser that works properly :bomb:.

Wait, and you have to be signed in to something as well? Ah, never mind then - I'm not creating yet another account to get spam from just for this...

Finally managed to get back to DA: I last night and made some decent progress in a few hours.

Finished up the druffalo escort mission, which took about 30 minutes longer to finish up because I couldn't initially get the druffalo back to its pen and then find the guy whose druffalo it was.  Also found that the path back to the farms from where it was went right by a rift that's tuned for level 12 and I was 8/9 at the time.  :bomb:  Ended up finding a small path that skirts the rift though doesn't trigger off the creatures from the rift.

Also did Fallow Mire last night and that was some creepy, great gameplay.  I didn't realize that the end part of Fallow Mire was what they showed off a month or so before the game's release, since I had been getting the "this looks awful familiar" feeling when going through the end.  It was a nice-sized and well-balanced chunk to do in one sitting.  Also wasn't bad at level 9 either, so I guess I hit it at the right time.   End part of it was a bit easier than expected since Cassandra was engaging the main baddie and keeping him busy while I spammed spells from a-far.   To date, I thought it was the best part of DA: I that I had played to date.

About 25 hours in so-far, as well.

Agreed, I really enjoyed the Fallow Mire. The environment was fun to play in. Very creepy.

The Druffalo mission is funny because I did it too and , looking back, of all the things to do in this game, it bothers me they threw in drab filler like that. It takes away from the really great stuff to do. It's a case of quality over quantity. I'm not much further than you, Shrike, but I'm finding myself not liking this game as much as other DA or Bioware games.
