Big Azz sale at Big Lots on Warner Bros. sets (with some Hanna Barbera cartoons, and a spot of HBO DVDs) Originally the sale was only for 6 dollar sets, as advertised in their circular ad, but now they've added $3 and $10 sets. (These $3 and $10 sets, while currently ringing up at the correct prices, are supposed to be withheld for the 07/26 sales ad, which would explain why there may be trouble seeing them early, depending on your store)

I snagged the last copy of Wacky Races (complete series) for $3 today. It was hidden deep behind a bunch of Superman series.

That's it for the cartoons. All that's left is Everwood, Joey, Night court and westwood.

My local Big Lots (3 branches near me) haven't restocked any of the DVDs for past week and half. I'm starting to think they pulled it since WB is taking legal action.

picked up the last Popeye for a friend and the last Pebbles & BamBam today (P&BB were hidden in the store). Have the P&BB for trade in the trade forum.

$10 anime sets? Can you go back and see what ones? I'm definitely interested!

Nothing good that was new at my local one. There was some new public domain boxsets of WWII or some crap that I did not even bother to carefully look at, but that was it. They still had about 30 WB sets so there was no recall at my store, but they are the usual ones that people are finding which no one wants, Joey, OC, Night Court, Larry King, West Wing, Tracy Ullman etc and a couple that was obviously returns that would get snapped up soon. I did not visit every other day to check as I had done last week, but I am pretty sure they did not restock. Was there a new flyer out yesterday for BL or does theirs come out every two weeks?

Sorry - it was in Martinsburg, WV - and I only got the one chance to go to the store. We left to come back home tonight.

The store in Winchester, VA still had some Flintstones, Josie and the Pussycats and a couple of Cousteau sets. I think there were a few Popeyes, as well.

Were the Batman Beyond sets pretty limited? I've been looking to trade for some of those, but I haven't seen anyone with them.
I saw some .hack DVD's but they only had 5 episodes on each and it's really no interest to me. They were $3 a piece.
Those were part of the last anime shipment as well. Im somewhat suprised to see some anime out there, the ones in my area have been picked clean by the next week after they shipped.

Yeah, as I mentioned in an earlier post for the past week and a half I haven't seen either of my 3 local Big Lots restock any new sets; I've been driving to each one almost daily to see if they do. So I guess thats the case; at least for me.

If anyone can pick me up those Tales from the Crypt Season Sets, I have lots to trade.

Ghostbusters (XBOX360)
Heavenly Sword (PS3 SEALED)
Stepbrothers Blu Ray
Spiderman 3 Blu Ray
Wall-E Blu Ray

Mine put out a BIG shipment last Tuesday in prep for the Wednesday ad. I haven't seen anything since. The Wednesday shipment didn't have much in it. Checking this AM to see if they have any stock out out for the weekend from their small Friday shipment...
I saw some weird Bandai Anime sets today in a way out of the way Big Lots for $10 - but now I can't remember what they were. One had a bust of a woman included with the DVD. Then there were 2 with 2 plush figured included in the box. I didn't know what the heck they were... So I left them there.
The one with the bust of a woman is Scrapped Princess v. 1. It contains a full Pacifica figure, which just needs to be put together. It's about 12 inches tall, and not bad for the price. Some Big Lots also still have volume 6 of Scrapped Princess with 2 smaller figures, Angel Tales v. 1 with artbox and 2 plushies, Galaxy Angel v. 1 with artbox and 5 small figures, and some random anime dvds.

Anyway, I picked up Appleseed : Ex Machina and the Memories 3 ova pack. ^_^

You got it.

It was Scrapped Princess V1, Angel Tales V1 and Galaxy Angel V1 - all were $10.

I stopped by my local BL every day since last Saturday - save for yesterday - and they haven't restocked with the sets once. They got a truck on Thursday and I stopped by at 9'ish this morning and there was the same ol' stuff from Thursday afternoon leftover, with some new movies sprinkled in. I think it's the end of the road at that particular store - which was the most plentiful in my area, even though I picked up only a handful of titles I wanted. Ah well, the hunt was good while it lasted...
Given the option, should I buy God, The Devil and Bob or War at Home?
God, The Devil & Bob is ridiculously stupid. I'd go with the other. But this begs the question, why not buy both if they are only 3.00?

Because I only HAVE 3.00. You see, the reason I'm a CAG is because I'm poor :p

May be best if you don't buy either then.

I found a number of these dvd sets at Smiths for slightly more. Snagged Animaniacs Vol 3 for $6.99 and TMNT Season 4 for $5.99.

If anyone is having trouble locating these at Big Lots, check your local Smiths!
has anybody ever seen the south park sets at big lots.
Not the seasons, but the collection DVD's. The local store had a 4-pack (Vol 1-4) for $6 - I'm not entirely sure, but I think those episodes make up most if not all of season 1.

A new BL had it's Grand Opening in north Omaha yesterday - checked it out this morning and was rewarded with the best selection I have seen at the 4 stores I have access to.

Looked like they held the stuff we have been seeing for 2 or 3 weeks and put it all out at once for this grand opening

No $10 sets that I could see...yet?

Only picked up what I was missing or friends had asked for:

Wonder Woman Complete Collection
Tales from the Crypt S3, S5, S6
Roots 30th Anniversary
Batman Animated Series S2 (vol 2)
Johnny Quest (original) S1
Scooby Doo and Dynomutt
Dastardly & Muttley
Smallville blu-ray S7
Flintstones S1, S2, S3, S4, S5
Thundercats S2 V2 big box with lenticular cover
Flag v1, v2, v3, v4
Bunch of other anime singles from Eureka 7 and a few other series

There was a ton more - all those NFL sets, OC, Six Feet Under, Thundercats with the velvet slipcovers, other Hanna Barbera boxes..it was actually a little overwhelming.

Added to what I found at the other BL over the last couple of weeks, this BL goldmine has been huge.

Yeah, I found some of these sets at my local Fry's Grocery Store. I got TMNT seasons 4 and 5 for $5.99, though I also saw Veronica Mars S2, Tracy Takes On S1 & S2, and I think I saw a West Wing season.

I believe both Fry's and Smiths are owned by Kroger, so if anyone is interested in checking, it's possible that Kroger owned stores have some interesting deals floating about.

If you find Eureka 7 vol 2, I might be interested.

Hey guys. Could not find Wonder Woman complete series anyplace. If anyone has one to sell PLEASE let me know. My 7 year old girl would get a kick out of it.

I was FINALLY able to take advantage of this deal yesterday. I picked up (all $3 each):

Veronica Mars (2nd season)
Lois and Clark (1st season)
Lois and Clark (3rd season)
The War at Home (1st season)
Popeye the Sailor (Volume 1)
Birdman and the Galaxy Trio (complete series)
Space Ghost and Dino Boy (complete series)

Come to think of it, I found TMNT Season 4 at Kroger for $6 back in April.

This might be worth checking out next time I go grocery shopping. :)
Another Kroger Sale? Re-he-he-he-heally.....
If sets are now at Kroger for cheap..thatd be quite humorous for me..my nearest Big Lots is right next door to my nearest Kroger. They are part of the same strip mall.

Only box sets I saw at the Nashua, NH BL were:

$3 (few copies)
War At Home S1
Tracey Takes On S1
$6 (many copies)
Dukes of Hazzard S5
Joey S1

Darn, thanks anyways.

this is the furthest ive seen this thread fall...
seems like the end is near!
going to return all my volumes of avatar since i can borrow them from a friend.

Another possibility is Big Lots is holding off on sending further stock due to a forthcoming ad. That's unlikely with the recent news but who knows. I'm not ready to call this dead but its very close to it.
I'm not ready to call this dead but its very close to it.
Nooooo, say it ain't so!

In reality, I have to agree that it is very close, as most of the stores I've hit here in GA, IMO, have not been restocking (or maybe I'm not getting there in time)

You know, I hope my store gets in some War At Home sets. I never really got to watch the show since I found out about it just before it got taken off.

The store by my house gets monday deliveries. I went there after work and they seem to have got a shippment of $6 sets. They had animaniacs, p&tb, two of the superbowl sets, scooby doo new movies and 5 dvd movie collection, scooby doo season 3, plus a few other hanna babera now marked at $6. I bought the only babylon 5 movies set they had and a batman animated 3 dvd collection( mask of the phantasm, subzero and return of the joker) I had all the others I wanted.

Yep! Found some titles at Kroger today for $7.99- Veronica Mars Season 2, Full House Season 1, Tom & Jerry, Superman: AS Volume 2, and a couple Tracey Takes On. Bought VM. Looks like Kroger bought some of these too!

Makes me wonder how soon before outlet stores such as Marshalls and what not end up with a few of these discounted boxsets. Wouldn't surprise me since I have seen the occasional HD-DVD title show up at these stores.

After seeing the Warner lawsuit article (http://www.thresq.com/2009/07/warner-bros-dvd-theft-lawsuit.html), I figured I would make one more run to BL. So, went to my local Big Lots and saw a few things there today that I didn't see last week. Picked up:

Superman - Animated Series vol. 1 - $3
Popeye Vol. 1 - $3
Thundercats - Season 1, vol. 2 (says disc 9 and 10 on the back - so, not sure how the numbering system was on those)
Looney Tunes vol. 2 - $6
SuperBowl XXX (sorry don't know my roman numerals..hehe..but it's the 90's red box)
Flinstones vol. 2
Pebbles and Bam Bam complete
Scooby Doo vol. 3
Animaniacs vol 1
Memories
and a Hannah Barbera title my friend wanted...

My main goal was to find the Batman animated series, Superfriends (which I wish I picked up the first time), Veronica Mars S2, Wonder Woman - Complete and try my luck again for Thundercats. Also, if there were more Blu-rays that may have come in... But spent around $51. Did see Joey's and OC's still there...and of course Dukes of Hazard, West Wing and many of "The War at Home".
