E3 2011: Sony edition. Conference starts at 8pm est/7pm cst!

What I liked/want:
Uncharted 3
Resistance 3
Sly 4
PS Vita (especially $ tag)
Uncharted 3
PS Move games and R3 bundle (I kinda tempted to get a Move now)
Bioshock Infinite
PS Vita games
Uncharted 3 :D

I was dissapointed that there were very few new PS3 announcements. Even if they showed Gran Turismo 6 (they have said it is in development) that would've been cool.

Also, so I guess that the PSP doesn't have anything left? That was barely mentioned.

Unfortunately, Square saves it's big punches for Tokyo Gaming Show in September. That stinks because we are missing out on Versus (XIII-3?) and Agitio (Type-0?). Not to mention FF XIV is in serious limbo right now.

If you take your blinders off, you would realize Sony did the same thing. This is how it seemed to break down. Apology, 2-3 core titles, 1/3 talk on Move, 1/2 talk on Vita. In other words, only 10-15 minutes of stuff.

Seriously, I felt like I watched the same press conference twice. Sony's felt much longer, though. I was shocked and saddened that EA actually had a much better conference than both of them. I expect Nintendo to blow the competition away in a few hours, but I have to admit that I'm a little worried now.

They've been announced for a few weeks. What I read about them is they are ONLY for gaming and do not work with Blu-Ray/DVD. Although, hopefully I am wrong on that, because that would be a total fail.

i don't have blinders on, it is just fact that Sony just had more to bring to the table and more to unveil in the time they had. Maybe you didn't see both conferences closely. What on MS's did I miss that gave me an indication that they had alot to offer besides Kinect shovelware and multiplatform titles besides the 2 or 3 first party titles that everyone knew about.

From the comments in the last couple of days, I can understand people protecting and justifying their purchase of the Xbox360 by downplaying the conferences. Pride gets hurt when someone is bashing the console you spent tons of money on. Understandable. Just check other forums and blogs, my opinion is really the opinion of the majority. You can deny and spin it like a politician, but to say they were on the same level and that MS's conferences was not that bad is just not true.
But like I said, I understand the psyche of people who own an Xbox360, I used to own one, not once but twice. I defended it just as much as the next one. But when MS has adults and kids spazing on stage to try to sell it, it becomes desperate. And forced.
 
I'm disappointed in Rockstar skipping E3. Was really hoping for a surprise GTA 5 announcement last night. Would have made Sony's show for me.

Loved the pricing of the Vita. Makes me laugh thinking of all those who were claiming it would have to cost $400-$500.

I thought the same thing, but it's on PS3 so I'll pass. SOE is already working on PS Next so I'll wait for that.

I'm really surprised there was no Twisted Metal, no Last Guardian, no price drops anywhere, no GoW4 (thank god), no Kevin Butler, and no mention of the other two new HD collections coming. Most of those seemed like definite fodder for the show, but I guess Move support (not gamers) was more important to them. Still, barring what Nintendo has in store this morning, Sony wins E3 by default since their competition forgot to show up. Extremely weak E3 so far and sadly Sony was the only mildly entertaining one of the bunch.

Also, epic fucking LOL when the crowd erupted with laughter after they announced their exclusive data carrier AT&T for the 3G models. Talk about completely killing any momentum they had for Vita. PS Suite for Android has me intrigued; too bad they didn't talk about it at all. . .

I just caught this. If the Video Game Chartz is correct, the PS3 is the #1 selling so far this year worldwide, then MS completely lied at their conference yesterday. Mattick stated that the Xbox360 is the biggest selling console in NA this year to date and will be #1 worldwide. Wii is the #1 selling console in america so far this year and PS3 is the #1 worldwide seller now.
Way to spin it MS!

I think a lot of the games that weren't shown will be shown at Tokyo Game Show. This was more of an appeal to North American gamers, since it was held in North America.
 
I thought it was a very good conference. Vita looks awesome (I pre-ordered mine) especially at $250. That's what the PSP released at years ago!

Dust has me intrigued...especially at free to play. I was hoping for something that would WOW me. The only thing that really got me was bioshock on vita and a firm release for the ICO/SOTC collection. The move stuff was alright. I'm definitely not opposed to the idea of move, I just need to see a game where move improves the gameplay, and then I'll pick it up. Who knows...that star trek game looked SWEET.

The 3D bundle is cool, but I don't need a TV. I guess I'm glad that 3D options are getting cheaper, I just hope they don't become necessary and standard. So long as we always have the option to view in 2D I'm alright with it, and the same thing goes for the touch controls on the vita.

This is going to be one expensive gaming holiday...

Sony wins because they actually showed some games and they hit the pricing of the Vita perfectly.

Nintendo showed a new console and I thought they would win the show, but sorry they did not show a single fucking game not coming to the PS3 or 360. There is NOTHING to be hyped about there. They also did not show enough new/suprise for the 3DS.

MS just shit the bed...nothing more to say. It was a kinect fest and MS should be ashamed of themselves.
 
holy shit that nintendo controller lmao. i know its got to run 100 to 150 if not more for one and though i like the idea of continuing to play games on it theres not much else there for me. and what if your "controller" breaks or you need to get an extra one? will they bundle these "controllers" with games?

Nope, no PS3 or 360 price drops, bundles or new SKUs. With Nintendo shitting the bed I really doubt that they will feel pressure to drop right after E3 as well.

It's as if Nintendo is just catching up to the PS3 and adding a tablet controller that basically is a dumbed down PS Vita that you can't take on the go. Not sure how they plan to get people who own PS3s and 360s to buy one of these? They still feel gimmicky.
 
but nintendo has third party support now! you can play ps360 games a year after their release on WiiU!

i love how ken levine was fawning over the new system yet will probably never make a game for it.

Nintendo brought an orchaestra to play classic Zelda music (i.e. not keep us bored listening to Jack ramble on and on). They showed off the new Zelda, 5 first party 3DS titles, and also showcase a brand new system (showing they have re-gained 3rd party support).

Nintendo smashed it home while the other 2 lagged behind.

Sony had Uncharted and Vita price point (which still tons of details needs to be released before it's not a repeat of PSP launch). Microsoft had Mass Effect, Halo 4, and CoD/Tomb Raider 3rd party showing.

Honestly, if Sony can get its engineers to replicate the "take the game with you" aspect of the WiiU with the Vita (say, streaming the video output to the Vita's screen?), that would reflect poorly on Nintendo. I think the Vita's capable of it. The question is if Sony will do anything about it.

Wait, what? Playing some music for a few minutes is not altogether impressive. Nice, sure, but I don't care what music plays if what they show during the press conference are good games. And besides which, those weren't all new 3DS titles. We knew about Kid Icarus and Starfox 64 3D since, what, last year? Same with Zelda OoT 3D. Their system is ok, but they showed 1) no exclusive games for it 2) gave no specifics on features beyond vague concepts and promises and 3) showed 3rd party support that were ports of games that will be 6-8+ months old by the time the WiiU launches.

How is that far and away more impressive than Sony's show?

Sony showed everything we were all aware of too (at least anything that mattered). Uncharted 3, easily the highlight, was previously shown to E3 since last year too. Vita hasn't proven anything to me without details and they have had it in development alot longer than WiiU so of course they will have more to show. As for Sony's rest, the other titles were non impressive... hell the displayed a title that came out today. Didn't have anything better to show? Maybe 3rd parties pulled out from presentations due to them losing money on PSN. Who knows... We can hope better stuff shows at TGS but again Who Knows. As for E3, hearing Jack talk for all that time, I was bored.

Meh, quit arguing over who did better. They all sucked!

Not a single company showed anything that will keep you or me interested this Summer or Fall (besides what we already knew...Uncharted 3, new Zelda, Gears of War, etc.). And I couldn't care less about a console coming in late 2012 that basically stated: "Every publisher has given up on the Wii, and so have we, so here's a shiny video of the new thing"

Face the facts: It's time to work on the backlogs, 'cause they're probably better than the shovelware coming the rest of the year.
 
WiiU is going to be nothing but shovelware, poor ps360 ports and maybe 1 ok game a year from a franchise that has been milked to death worse than CoD.

3ds didnt show anything all that great. oh great a mario kart game. SURPRISE! but it has hang gliders this time. oooooooohhhh bbooooooooyyyyyy day 1 buy for me!
 
i wonder if the wiiu controller screen will be hd or not. if it was that could give them a slight advantage a console that doesnt need a tv to be played.
 
With the limited details Nintendo announced about their new console I'm highly doubting this thing will not see light before next years E3. My guess is 2012 Holiday Time. I feel like i only was introduced to a controller and a concept not a new console. No Tech Specs, No Date, No Price, No real Game Announcements.

I also feel duped that Nintendo already came out with an entire new console before the only true original Wii Zelda has even been released which has been shown at the last 2 years worth of E3's. Skyward Sword has been to 3 different E3's i can only imagine that its due to porting it to Wii U

See, that's what I mean though. you've pointed out all the flaws in Sony I levied at Nintendo, and that's fine, because they both suffered the same problems. That's what I'm trying to get at. Sony and Nintendo had roughly the same level of show, Nintendo's wasn't better. They seriously lacked in anything substantive, and Sony had a weak showing. It pretty much equals out. How that translates to almost two letter grades difference seemed very, very strange when you just responded showing how they both were guilty of the same things.

That matches IGN's listed, the super secret games were just games that were unannounced before e3. So the other secrets would be Halo and Halo 4.

I saw where ppl got infamous 2 early.
Now they are giving away UC3 MP (complete) for free?
Is it like you buy a sub on a certain day and you get a code with a chance to win or something?

I don't think they are giving away the UC3 MP. I think they said they will be setting up booths, so you can play the multiplayer while you are at subway.
