Has anyone done the dvd trade in? What's an average dvd value?
I have a few that I'd like to get rid of.
I got the following $ for DVDs:
Get Shorty $4
Wizard of Oz $4
Hulk $1

That was prior to the bonus credit deals.
$40 isn't bad for an old SP.

Buying games with the 25% off using store credit is a cheap way to get games.

I always figure that my store credit costs less than half its value. Say, $5 spent for every $10 in credit.

It goes something like this: I was tempted to buy Ninja Gaiden Black for $30 when it came out, but by waiting a few weeks they had it online for $26.95 . . . after 25% off it was $20.24 plus tax. $20 in EB credit is like $10 out of pocket.

The game arrived complete but with some light scuffs on the disc . . . I was able to swap it instore for a minty used one.
How did you get the online discount, and the use of your edge card credit online?
How did you get the online discount, and the use of your edge card credit online?
In your cart, you add discount codes . . . CAG15 gets 15% off . . . your edge # (if you paid $5 per year) get an extra 10% off . . . SAVER gets free shipping if a used game is in your order.

I can't use my Edge card online . . . you can use instore credit which is on the Edge card (whether you paid $5 to get 10% off or not) to put credit on a Gift Card which can then be used online (you must have a pin # to do online orders).

I did 3 more GT4s today (got the ones I returned yesterday :))

Traded in:
NBA Street 2 GC
I Ninja Xbox
THUG 2 PS2

MOH Front PS2
Cookie Cream PS2
Nightshade PS2

Escape from Monkey
True Crime GC
THUG2 PS2

With a receipt :whistle2:o

I guess it's YMMV (some have had trouble). At my EB, they take the game back, process my receipt, and then put the return on a Gift Card ($39.99 each plus $2.04 tax that I didn't pay in the first place :))

So, $126.09 in credit coming from less than $50 in spending . . . LOL

My receipt lists each game as the original value and the bonus credit bumping them up to 13.33 for a total of 39.99.

At my local store (knock on wood) they let me return it for the $39.99 in credit.

Have you tried doing this?

I did the trade in 3 games for GT 4 came the next few days later and wanted a refund the guy working was like "sorry Sir, we can only give you the original trade in value not the boosted value 39.99" no problems before at my other ebgames cancelling a trade in deal YMMV now.

were you using a regular receipt or a gift receipt? I thought people were having luck returning it with that.... or can they tell you did the trade in deal even with the gift receipt?

Damn, wish I had read this earlier. I was buying some new stuff on ebgames.com and threw in some cheap GR trade fodder for the free shipping. This game looks like it might be fun to play with the kids - should have gotten it instead.

Man! I was just at EB to return my second set of 3 GT4s and the store manager started saying . . . "I'm going to have to limit you on . . ." And I'm thinking "damn, did they have a policy change." He continued "you should only do 1 of these " . . . Shit, I'm thinking "only one game per trade in deal." "I mean only returning one of these per day," he said, "because returns count against the store."

Oh, wait, yeah, that makes sense . . . I went a little overboard doing so many at once. I told him that they have been soo cool with me that I wouldn't want to mess them up. I took back two of my returns and then noticed this guy out of the corner of my eye. fuck, the District Manager was visiting . . . the last thing I want is him seeing me exploiting these deals and changing the polices.

Anyway, after returning one GT4 (shoot, I have 12 days to return the others) I bought a game to try to help balance the store's numbers.

BTW, is Crimson Skies still PO or POX :)

Same here.
Stupid NYC EBgames.
Not so lax or something.
Is it even possible to get a gift receipt on the GT4 when trading in?
(lucky shultzed)

In other news, EBgames merging with Gamestop.
Will this affect my gift card and Edge card in any way?

Went in for one last browsing of the classic games... just picked up a few stragglers, left FF3 for some else to find. Maybe if they discount them more at some point before sending them to the warehouse I'll pick it up to trade or eBay. Of course, if anyone wants cart-only FF3 and wants to trade one of the Lufias or something else comparable for it... ;)

Got:
ActRaiser (SNES) - $2.99
Dragon Warrior (NES) - $2.99
And, uh... Super Valis IV (SNES) - $0.99 -- hey, it's an Atlus game! I had to see what all the fuss was about :p

Good to know I'm a legend at EB now: (in reference to buying Chrono Trigger/SoM) "That was you?"

So the additional 25% would only apply to the 3 games, or if I were to couple that trade in with a PS2 trade in, would I recieve an additional 25% with that, assuming I do not combine it with any other offer

Did they ask for your name and address everytime you did a return? I thought they always did, but I had a few times where they didn't bother, and I haven't been able to figure out why.

Someone PMed me this same question . . . I think they are supposed to ID you (depends on state law?) because of stolen merchandise.

I think they generally enter your phone number.

Now that I think about it, I'm always filling in my name, address, phone #, and signature at the bottom of receipts . . . do other stores or states have that?

I returned my copy of GT4 with a gift receipt yeasterday with no problems. They were going to give me cash(and I assume take down my info) but instead I grabbed a copy of Shadow of the Colossus and did a direct exchange. They didn't even ask me for my personal info....AWESOME!

I sold my GT4s for $20-$25 on eBay. As far as EB is concerned, they don't have any returns. As far as your wallet is concerned, it has a little more money in it.

Anytime where they give you back cash / or store credit that you walk out with they will always ask for information, and its also the same when you trade in games. However when you do a even exchange or exchange something where you are paying more they don't ask for any information.

OK, tenzor, maybe you can help with this Namco $25 gift voucher deal. As you know, they feature Pac-Man World 3 prominently on the flyer for the $15 and $25 gift vouchers (and not just on the extra 10% trade-in for Namco titles). The voucher deal ends Nov 5th, and Pac-Man World 3 comes out Nov. 16th. So I assumed you could use a preorder for it.

So I buy 3 Namco games - Dig Dug DS, We Love Katamari, and the Pac-Man World 3 preorder (fully paid for) all on the same receipt. The register then prints up a rebate receipt and form to mail in - just showing the $15 for two games AND requiring the UPC's from the games (ARRGGHHH!). However, I was thinking of using the form in the store flyer, which simply says to send the original receipt and nothing about UPC's. Hopefully with that I can get the full $25 as well, since I did get 3 games. This is what I did with the GTA:SA $10 voucher and it worked perfectly. If they don't send me the rebate soon, I'll send in the register rebate form and rebate receipt on the last possible day (taking my chances by not including the UPC's).

Of course, the flyer says to "See Sales Associate for a complete list of eligible games" - he didn't know squat about the deal, and said the Pac-Man World wouldn't even be in his register system until it is delivered, so that's why it didn't come up on the rebate receipt.

Oh well - no biggie if they send me the $15 instead of $25. I was going to get all 3 games anyway (better get that shirt with Pac-Man World anyway!).

Please explain ths deal for someone (ME) that has never done business with EB. Specifically the one where you get 25% trade in on certain games (up to three) I have some GC games that I’m trying to get rid of (here on CAG, maybe Ebay, or trade in to EB). Say I wanted a new game like Psychonauts or Hulk, what kind of trade in value would go towards the purchase for the following games:

Pikmin
Viewtiful Joe
SpongeBob: Bikini Bottom
007: Nightfire
Metroid Prime

I dropped by Jefferson Point EB today after job interview. I got Super Metroid for $10. I didn't see much else. Though I am thinking of picking up a dreamcast. They had a few regular ones and a black sports one. The black one had something rattling inside so I definitely won't get that one.

The Namco deal link is back up on EB's web site (of course it wasn't anywhere to be found when I was trying to figure out which games to get yesterday):

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/vom/oct05/

Pac-Man World 3 is clearly indicated on there. If you do this deal, get the rebate submission form from the store because it doesn't require UPC's. I sent mine in today - we'll see what happens. The rebate form that prints with your purchase, and the web one linked on the page I posted, both require UPC's.

In some ways this is better than the TRU Buy2Get1 because I can use EB trade credit, and it includes a DS game (Dig Dug) and a preorder (Pac-Man World 3) that I wouldn't be able to get at TRU (with the deal). There are a ton of other games that qualify (Soul Calibur II and III, Xeno II, Tales of Symphonia, various 'museum' collections, etc).
Interesting -
Could you do the GT4 trade in. Then exchange that for NFL Blitz. Then turn in the $10 voucher?

hmmm

Matthew
It should work but YMMV. As you get GT4 ask for a gift receipt. Then return a day or two later and return it for store credit and say you want Blitz instead . . . even trade.

You will have a new receipt for Blitz that shows payment with store credit . . . use it to submit your rebate.
What's up with the store credit...
Useable when EB turns into Gamestop from the merger?
I really hope so, I really doubt that they can legally take away what is essentially money of yours. But we will see.

Nice hustle.

There's a place in Etown, KY where you can buy 6 PO games for $25.

Trade in for 2 GT4s for 2 Blitzs. Have 1 rebate go to your home and 1 to your workplace or relative's.

Blitz (PS2) is going for $35 on eBay. So, turn $25 cash into $70 cash and $20 in rebates.

I am but a simple apprentice to masters like you.

Just curious. How hard is it to return a sealed game from store 1 to store 2 for $50 store credit? It'd make the turnaround time on the hustle drop to 1 hour from 24 hours.

I got denied on a GT4 deal today - "we can't do it" says the clerk. Then the manager mumbled something about the 1 per customer and something, I think, about telling me about that (which they definitely didn't do). I tried to get 2 a few days ago at another store, 30 miles from this one, and was only allowed one. I was perfectly fine with that since it does say one per customer in the flyer.

At the store I went to today, I had gotten one several days back on the first day of the deal. They remembered me from then, apparently, and wouldn't let me get another today. I have not returned or cancelled anything at this store, so they have no reason to dislike me :D. This store always has the same guys working in it and I have always thought we were on good terms. Guess I ain't going there any more though. It didn't take a second for them to cut me off from the deal - like they had my mugshot or something :D. Definitely not a pleasant experience. So I went in to Gamerush where they've always been friendly to me, and did a trade 2 for preorder deal, no problems... I guess my business goes back to GR again (I had been leaning towards EB more recently).

EB definitely needs to strictly enforce the 1 per limit or not put it in the flyer/computer/training/etc at all.

For example, I hit four EBs on a consistent basis.

Some details are obscured for the sake of anonymity.

Store #1's lower level employees have to have the deals explained to them before they know about it. Something on the order of "see customer for details". They enforce the 1 per limit. Their manager lets me trade in as many titles as I want for preorders so long as the PO titles are unique.

Store #2's employees and managers let me preorder 1 title per deal. For example, I can order 1 PS2, 1Xbox and 1NGC NBA Live 06. They've explicitly told me that I can complete more preorders the next day.

Store #3's employee (I've only seen him/her working there) is just like store #1's employees. At first, I thought he/she was snooty, but, on my third visit, I got a good enough read from him/her to realize he/she just isn't that bright. I was trading in 8 PO games (3 for GT4, 5 for TW06) and he/she just couldn't figure out which games I wanted to trade in for which deal. Damn! Like it would really matter.

Store #4's employees and manager are golden. They let me trade in as many titles as I want for preorders or deal so long as the PO titles are unique on a per day basis. I've specifically asked the manager if he/she will get into trouble with his/her higher ups for completing all of the deals I run through there. He/she just shrugs and claims he/she hasn't heard anything yet.
What does this mean? 25% off a game?
No, it means u get 25% more trade in credit than you would normally.

Someone explain to my dumb self here:

Let's say I trade-in Silent Hill 4, Soul Calbur 2 and Vice City. With that, I get 25% off Soul Calibur 3 (new purchase), and still net in Gran Turismo 4?

The 25% extra trade in credit and the GT4 deal are seperate. With the 25% extra trade in credit deal, you get 1.25 times the credit they normally give on games if you trade in 3 or more.

For $40 games, is it $25 or $20?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Usually a $49.99 game will get you $25.00 trade in credit
-Exceptions are for big title games (i.e. Madden 2006, Socom 3, Halo 2) those titles for the first week or 2 will get you $30.00 trade in credit

$39.99 games will get you around 17.00 trade in credit, sometimes they can even be $20.00 or $15.00, but $17 is the average.

$29.99 games get about $10.00-$12.00

$19.99 games get $5.00-$7.00

however that is just a estimate, but sometimes they can be lower due to the company having too many copies etc.

Sucks, especially you being a Wisconsinite and all.

30 games for $400 in credit . . . too bad I don't want a 360.
