EB GAMES Summer Sale 7/15-7/31 B&M & Online (mostly)

Don't see the 50% off sega/snes games yet, and they already made inventory update. Might be instore only :(

i dont expect people to know that code until later today (like noon)

Like so many others here, I'm really hoping to get a copy of Bard's Tale at this price. Good luck to everyone looking for it today, as well as anyone looking to take advantage of anything else in this sale.
I have a feeling that not all the specials will be online also. Like the 50% off Classic games...I'm going to be picking up MegaMan 5&6 instore anyway, but it would be nice to get some other games online.
I agree. It doesn't make "eb sense" to me that the B&M sale would relate to the website. They have different price drops all the time, and I don't remember any previous seasonal sales working online. (Could be wrong there I suppose.) From the beginning I believed this sale would require store hopping, not website stalking.
just grabbed the pricegrabber rebate form for Bards Tale and Black Monday.
wont you need the orginal reipct for the rebate and pricegrabber?
wont you need the orginal reipct for the rebate and pricegrabber?
Pricegrabber accepts copies of both the receipt and the UPC.
Getaway: Black Monday is in stock right now. Is it save to order right now?
While none of the rebate forms seem to be posted yet, they are mentioned on the PS2 "Hot Deals" page, under "Limited Time Offers", so I would feel pretty safe in ordering Black Monday. I wouldn't order more than one of the games, though, in case they all use the same rebate. Also, the Capcom Fighting Evolution rebate is listed as $10 instead of $20, so I'd hold off on that one as well.

thanks! that was helpful.
It'll be online
Did I miss where this was posted, or do you have some inside info?

I went to the local EB at 10 am, they didn't have Bard's Tale for XBOX (I kinda figured as much). They had the PS2 ver in stock but I didn't want that one and it was also a gutted copy. I did get Getaway: Black Monday, of course, it was a gutted copy (what else is new).

I don't care too much since the game is free after EB's rebate and then the pricegrabber rebate on top of it makes it a profit for me. This is the exact reason why I have replacement cases from redoctane.

Anyways, hopefully Bard's Tale xbox will somehow find it's way online, it is really the only reason I went to the store since everything else I'll be able to get online like Phantom Dust and Spy Vs. Spy.

Now I remember why I never shop at EB stores. They have the rudest people working there (I already received some snide remarks and all I was doing was asking for the damn sale paper), they gut their games and sell them as new, and they have nothing in-stock. I think Rite Aid pharmacies have a better stock than them.

It's a shame you have stores like that. The guys who work at my EB are some of the coolest people I've dealt with. They are all british or australian or something with really thick accents. They go out of their way to help you, and I've never seen them give anyone a hard time.

I've also never gotten a "gutted copy" from my local EB for as long as it has been there.

On another note, I'll probably be going to check this out for the B2G1 sale and maybe pick up a Bard's Tale if it's in stock.

Oh, the irony.
Hrm, this doesn't bode well for it dropping to $10 today. Of course, they've done it before, but I'd think they might've learned their lesson after the recent debaucle. Still, free after rebate ain't bad.
They planned for this situation and they'll go through with it. If not, they'll really be getting an earful.

The Syphon Filter $20 GV on $10 game was a coordination mistake they lived up to.

The Paper Mario $20 GV on $20 game was a complete fuckup and they're backing away from it as fast as possible and denying it all the way they work through.

One of the main reasons why EB has these types of sales is too clear out old and out of stock merchandise. Which is why 9 out of 10 EB stores probably only have 1 or 2 copies of Bard's Tale, Getaway 2, etc left.

What exactly did they say to you?
Haven't read through the whole dead, but are the B2G1 on the DVDs and DC games online or just B&M?
So far, just B&M, but I wouldn't write it off for online until a little later in the day.

OK, I WAS about to order CFEvo, until I noticed this little disparity:

After the whole Paper Mario incident, something like this makes me very nervous.

That would be all fine and dandy, however, they have this same problem for new releases. They almost always only get 1-2 copies of a game on release, but for crap games like Fantastic Four they will get 100 copies that sit there. They also gut new release games and try to sell them as new.

Also, Hot Shots Golf Fore was part of one of their previous sales. I remember going and trying to get the game, and they didn't have it in-stock. The employee said to me the game is discontinued. It sure is discontinued enough for them to get more copies of the game for the current sale. :|

The employee said this "The sales paper is not for you because the sale starts Sunday". Of course, it clearly says 7/15/05 on the paper.

Aw, man. "One Gift Voucher per person per address," and they all use the same voucher.

So, the question is...Rumble Roses, or Capcom Fighting Evolution?

I'm a little behind on news... what's wrong with the Paper Mario voucher? I'm still waiting for mine... but since it hasn't been 6 wks so I haven't called EB yet...

rumble roses is probably your better bet, you prolly already have half the characters in fighting revolution.......and it is basically a rehash, no matter how nice it looks......rumble roses is at least sort of unique.....
although the hot shots fore and syphon filter, said the same thing about one per home, etc. and I got both, same day in fact.

What form are you looking at?(Where'd you get it?)

.....nm. Seems EBgames.com doesn't show the rebate if you use Firefox....works in IE.

your not going to get your paper mario gift voucher cause ebgames is a #$#$#
they said you had to buy it for 49.99 to get it

If you want both, I'd get one B&M and one online, like I did with the last batch of Hot Shots Golf Fore & Syphon Filter: TOS.

Between the two, I'd go with Rumble Roses. Plus, it's at your $5 pricepoint you've talked about. ;)

I guess if Capcom Fighting Evolution is ordered on-line then the original UPC code must be cut out and sent in.

Ordered it anyway..plus Transworld Surf for Xbox to get free shipping.

I bought bards tale earlier in the week, cause i knew if i waited til friday only a gutted copy would be left.....and I hate that......they will tell you its never been played, etc, brand new.....and it will have like a babies hand print on it......(figured their employees are immature, but whoa....)(actually happened once), and try to sell as new. They are factory sealed with security tape for a reason......so people dont tamper with them.......including eb employees.
I rarely go to ebgames anymore, on principle. Gamestop doesnt usually do it as bad. They say its for security....well their are better ways tomaintain security and still display your games...........get a copy photo of the covers front and back, put in a blank case......and display.......no different than a gutted copy, and preserves the customers rights on a new copy.
I just think if its new, you shouldnt even have to go through the trouble of asking, can i see the disc first, and pick through them til you find the most pristine one. The whole point is they are new copies and should be without question.......
man that really fires me up......
now to go get my 5$ back in difference since i paid 15 for it.....almost not worth the hassle.
sorry for the soapbox rant, although curious, does anybody else get a real bug up their butt over this issue with them?
I guess if the Getaway or Hots Hots is ordered on-line then the original UPC code must be cut out and sent in?
In the past they allowed photocopy UPC code.

So would we get a $20 voucher for CFE or $10?

Well - here's the news. I went to my B&M EB and asked rushed to get the games I had hidden. The cashier whom I know, asked "Wow - how'd you know about the deal? Did you get the Newsletter?", I'm guessing they didn't really advertise in store very much. The %50 off stacks up with the %10 for a total of %60 off. The "classics" does not extend to the old gameboy games ;-;

Here's what I got

SEGA GENESIS
Batman - $.79

PLAYSTATION (All Complete - None Greatest Hits)
Spyro: Year of the Dragon - $5.39
Spyro: Ripto's Rage - $8.99
Bloody Roar II - $0.00
Parasite Eve - $11.69
Threads Of Fate - $13.49
Megaman Legends - $0.00

NES-
Stealth $0.39
Star Voyager $0.39

SNES (Best Deals Here =) )

Super Punchout (Mint) - $3.19
Super Star Wars: Return Of the Jedi - $1.59
Super Street Fighter II (COMPLETE) - $2.39
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (COMPLETE) - $2.39
Super Mario Kart (COMPLETE) $5.19
----------------------------------------------------------
Secret of Mana (MINT) - $15.99
Chrono Trigger (MINT) - $15.99

GAMEBOY ADVANCE
Riviera: The Promised Land - $29.99

Sorry to hear about some of you who have crap employees at your EB, but the one at my store was really awesome about things.
"Woaha- Secret of Mana And Chrono Trigger. Damn - I knew I should have looked through those games."
Me-" Yeah well - I was here the other day and hid them through the store - since there was a sale coming up"
Him-" Ahh - didn't want anyone else to get them... Good idea - I would have done the same"
Me: " Anyway - I have the discount card - will it work with the %50 off and stack up to %60 or will it be %10 off the final price?"
Him: " Well - lets hope it %60 off - you'll save more that way. *Checks* Yep - looks like it works! Nice!"

Awesome people there. I asked for Riviera and he knew exactly what I was talking about as well - "Second to last one left you know - I hope no one gets the last one so I can pick it up later"

Oh that fucking sucks... so no one has gotten it? What if we called their corp office? It didn't say anything about the minimum price of the game needs to be $49.99 on the voucher... and they had the voucher offer while the game was onsale for $20
