Okay another ebay situation that I need some assistance with.
A tl;dr version is at the bottom
I sold several items last week and checked that they were all delivered. The item in question was, according to USPS tracking, delivered on July 23.
I receive a message yesterday on eBay from that buyer (with a ebay ID of just numbers), saying
According to the tracking info, the item arrived at the post office on July 22 early in the morning. The city and zip code of the post office is the same as that of the address I mailed to.
A few hours later, the item is "forwarded" within the same city (no zip code is shown but according to Google, that city has only one zip code which is the same as the last entry).
The last entry of the tracking info has the item as delivered the next morning to the city and zip code (this city and zip code are the same one that the buyer told me as the PO Box; also this city and zip code differ from their home address').
Now why would the I get the package back if USPS has it as delivered. I'm assuming the forwarded entry means that the item did arrive at the home address but was then sent to the PO box.
This buyer might be trying to pull something.
The item I sold is a used current gen video game (listed as like new). The game's value is maybe low $30s.
Anyway, the buyer has what I would call a common last name. First name is not rare/unusual but would say it's a typical name used in fiction (maybe common in certain areas). The address associated with paypal (so called home address) is shown as confirmed.
I was going to try Google but started with Facebook. The name returned over 500 profiles so I narrowed it down to the two cities. None for the PO Box city but one hit for the "home" city.
Assuming this is the same guy:
TL;DR
Buyer sends message on 27th saying game is being returned and to send to a PO Box. The tracking info shows a "Forwarded" from the mailed address' city/zip on the 22nd. On the 23rd, tracking shows delivered to city/zip that is same as the PO Box's. No return package yet.
So what should I do? I am going away next week so in the event that the game DOES come back, I can't do anything for a while. I also don't have enough in papal in the event of a "refund" (which I don't want to do).

Now, in all my auctions I mention that the item will be shipped to the address that is listed with paypal no exceptions. I mailed this item to that address.I put my P.O. box number in the order but it came to my home address and now it is being returned to you. My P.O. box is P.O. Box. We dont get mail to our house.

This guy is some teenager. His default pic puts him to maybe 15-17, however two earlier ones put him maybe 13-15. All these profile pics were uploaded this year. also all were him with a phone in front of a mirror , 3 different phones and four pics from March-July (one a month except May)
. He has less than 60 "friends" and most likely joined this year, sometime in early March maybe. There is an album he posted on his wall (no photos tab or anything) which is of a car he is fixing up so I guess he around 16. The last thing on his wall is a status update on July 22. He also commented on a friend's status about 12 hours ago.
Probably sometime in late June, he changed his current city to that of the "home" address one. Also there isn't much in his "info" section. He has several R comedies under movies and "being outside" as an activity, no mention of games.
