FAQ:
How do I get those sticky yellow EB stickers off my case?
Buy a bottle of Goo Gone. They're usually $5 or less. They last forever and are a good purchase if you buy lots of used games. You can find them at drug stores or places like Wal Mart.

The bottle looks like this:

When is the EBgames morning update?
Usually between 7am and 7:30am eastern time, Monday through Friday. There are no updates on some holidays.

How do I know the update happened?
The number of in stock games will drop to zero, then rise back up. This takes less than a minute.

I had game X in my cart, but it disappeared while I was checking out. What happened?

Someone else beat you to it. Just because an item is in your cart, doesn't mean it's reserved for you until you finish checking out.

How do you know how many copies of game X are in stock?
When the item is in your cart, change the quantity to a large number (like 99). When the page refreshes, the quantity will be reduced to the number available.

Are there any coupons I could use to save money?
CAG15 gives you 15% off used merchandise.
CAG16 gives you 16% off $50 or more worth of used merchandise.
SAVER gives you free shipping on orders containing used games and accessories. For some reason, Gameboy games do not work with SAVER.

I grabbed a couple of the NES carts myself yesterday. Shadowgate and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It's the only NES Castlevania i've never played (Rented it twice, and in both cases the game wouldn't work..grrr I was so unhappy!):whistle2:x

Hey Craven, not that you're guaranteed to find the same, but remember that GBA Tactics Ogre I was talking about? Near-mint, complete (with all the inserts) for 16.19+tax at GameStop today. I'm just lucky the guy kept looking since he first told me they didn't have it when looking through the carts, then he popped up with the box in his hand.
That seems like a great deal. Too bad its gone already. Does the controller stand up well, or is it something you might not want to buy used?
i don't know if i would want a used one just for the sake of i don't like used controllers.. the buttons stand up very well especially to heavy playing. the strap may be missing and its really tough to pull off the "star power" move sitting down (you push the select button) otherwise yes.. great deal great game.. hopefully gets 1000 sequels.
How have the updates been lately?
i think very bad... not sure i havent been up for an update since around dec 23

only reason im up is watching cnn on that very sad new story about the miners

Yeah, I heard that they announced that 12 survived, only to say they made a mistake...3 hours later. I can't imagine what those people are going through. I will pray for them.
late one today
Yeah, that's been more common lately as well. Which means I've missed some as a result of that too. Still gotta shower, get dressed, and get to work in the next 35 minutes.
seems to be happening around 7:30 lately.
man if i knew that i would went back to bed at 630.....not worth going back to be around 8 when you need back up by 9

I've come to agree that the Gamestop merger has now finally had an impact on the morning update.

You do all realize that they plan to close the Pennsylvania distribution center where these great online deals come from..... That SUCKS.

And what else sucks is that when they close that plant, my SAVER shipping will no longer get here the next day!

Oh, and the loss of the jobs is terrible too!

i always wondered how many people they have working in one of those places... i would guess less then 10? i mean it would be a very easy job for one or two people to do .....

get a list of games people ordered for the day
pull those games
put them in boxes
ship

would been a very easy job

(this isnt counting the people who worked in the office doing AC/AP)
Wish I could find a good, cheap DS game...
You might want to try Tiger Wood's PGA Tour. I suprised at the quality of the game. You can find it for less than ten bucks, so you dont have much to lose.

And if any of you are bored waiting for the update tomorrow, ya might wanna read this:

I find it REALLY odd that we still have a Funcoland over here. Funcoland's what Gamestop was before it was Gamestop. But no, it still thrives. Anyway, if anyone knows of any good deals on a Contra game ( other than Shattered Soldier, ) then could they PLEASE GOD post a link. I haven't played any early Contra for 5 years now.

Wow, my Front Mission 3 better ship now, since they're advertising it again. I ordered it almost a month ago. I'm pretty pissed. It better come, damnit! :bomb:

I hear you -- I ordered that very game, and watched it be in stock nearly every day for the next two weeks, yet mine didn't ship. I tried placing a new order and cancelling the original one. Didn't work. Finally about 3 weeks after I placed the original order, it shipped. So keep hoping!

Those PSX Contra games really aren't that hard to find, nor are they very sought after. The main reason for that is because they suck complete ass. If you want a good Contra experiance, avoid those.

Wow, you must not know what you're talking about.....

The sheer volume of orders a day would make it hard for 10 or few people to handle the job for the entire day. Is each person supposed to find 150 plus games, assuming that atleast 1500 items are ordered a day, in an 8 hour span? Its going to be atleast 20+, and that wouldn't include the 2 or 3 supervisors.

Plus each department would be seperate. So you are looking at recieving, gathering, and shipping, and do you still only think 10 people can do the job...answer should be no.

There's still a Software Etc. and a Babbage's around here. Software Etc. probably kept its name due to the fact that there's a GameStop in a strip mall right across from the mall the Software Etc. is located in. There aren't any other GameStops near the Babbage's, so I don't get that one.

Regarding Contra, I don't have any links, but just recently, I was in a Sam Goody that still had a copy of Neo Contra (PS2) on the clearance shelf for $8.99, which I immediately bought. So keep an eye out if you're near one.

If you want the best Contra love, either dig out an NES and play the original, or find an SNES and play Contra III. Those two are near perfect...

(And thanks Rozz... less than $10 sounds good to me! I'll keep an eye out.)

The Rig speaks truth! Contra Hard Corps on the Genesis isn't too shabby either.

hey lpj, me too! btw, did you check out the CC near you for clearance games? i went yesterday and got a couple GBA games and i'm gonna go back today.

i picked up Zelda II and Bomberman both classic NES. the list in the CC thread is growing though. Nothing spectacular like at TRU but there are a few goodies. you might wanna go through the list in the other thread.
