Fall 2008 Nintendo Press Conference- MEGATONS DROPPED! DSi, Punch-out!!, Sin & Pun. 2
I am stunned that there is no kid Icarus announced.
I'm 100% sure KI is never seeing the light of day at this point. The window of opporunity to announce it among Brawl hoopla has long since faded.

Granted, in addition to Retro, wtf is Factor 5 doing right now?

Point being, don't promise us glazed donuts with sprinkles on top and then serve chocolate covered poop on a stick.

It may look pretty because its got chocolate all over it, but on the inside its still crap.

On that note, I can finally go sleep now.

*Jumps up on table and dances* They did it. They really did it.

Punch-Out, Sin And Punishment 2.

Hmmm. Curious. If you watch Animal Crossing, the little characters have dialogue bubbles appearing over their heads.

I wonder why that is given the Wii Speak feature? Probably like the Brawl taunt system for people who don't get WS.

Edit: Bardiya, I think Blue meant E3, not this conference just now.

Comparing Nintendo's E3 and this conferences, this one gets a 15/10 by comparison. In actuality, it gets a 7.5/10 because I think some stuff is lost in translation, and a good chunk of stuff won't hit here.

I really want to see something cool at the American event tomorrow for us US Nintendo fans, like say...2d Metroid game for the DS or Wii Ware. Four Swords Adventures on Wii Ware with 4-player Wifi with WiiSpeak support.

Endless Ocean 2 will need to support Wii Speak, but with a "you are talking underwater" filter.

That would be stupidly awesome.

Also, I haven't watched the conference, but the is a 2D version of de blob coming out according to the egm mag i was reading earlier, so it might have been.
You can pet fish in Endless Ocean, right? How about if you rub the dolphin in the right spot, he tries to has his way with you?
There's something that looks like a 2D de Blob showing up. No clue what it actually is at the moment.

Wouldn't that be Chad Concelmo: The Video Game?
AMAZING!!! BEST WEEK EVER!!!

Well, it's been a fun conference everyone. Though those few minutes before the conference were touch-n-go, we ended up getting plenty of excellent announcements, new game revealings, and confirmations. More than enough to keep both DS and Wii fans satisfied until 2009 comes around. It was fun going through the updates on Gemaga, and then checking IGN, GameKyo, and Kotaku for clarification. Everyone, thanks for following along in the topic during the whole event, and I hope that the San Francisco event tomorrow will also be good. (Though from the sound of things, Nintendo was using the Tokyo event for the big announcements, with the US event serving as a demo center) Well, time to update the OP.

Definitely can't wait for:
Punch-Out!
Endless Ocean 2
Trace Memory R
Sin and Punishment 2
Cosmic Walker
Taiko no Tatsujin
Let's Tap

DSi (I'm planning to upgrade from my Phat if the price is right)
Mario & Luigi 3
Warioware Touched! 2
That 3d Picross game

DSi sounds way too much, $180? They better keep the old DS then.

Why didn't they show this DS at E3? It's the same thing but would have given Nitnendo something.

 but really..

Of all the stuff they could have picked, they chose a boxing game...

If there's nothing new for the American side, its just a big disappointment. Nothing new coming out can or has matched the games from a year or two ago.

Combined with the massive resell value and the inevitable redesign, it just makes it even more tempting to get rid of the thing. I literally have 6 Wii games, and that's simply because those are the only games I consider high enough quality to be worth my time when comparing it to the PC or 360. Now those 6 games are great, so great that I think its worth having a Wii just for those 6, but 6 games in 24 months? Come on now. I would love to buy some new Wii games, but without the quality nintendo stuff like a new mario, zelda, kirby, starfox, etc. coming out any time soon, I just don't see it happening.

I'm all for a new Punch-Out, but those screens look like shit.

And the talk of Mario & Luigi 3? You talkin' the Superstar Saga/Partners In Time series? (Can't watch the vids at the moment.)

It looks good in motion. And yes, Mario and Luigi 3 is a part of the SSS/PiT series. GameKyo put up a mirror of the compilation videos if that would help.

Is this the Wii game you were talking about, Strell? From what I can tell of the katakana, it's called Supaan Smasher or something like that.

Edit: IGN seems to have collected a list of the games in the montage:

Games shown in the above montage: Let's Tap from SEGA. 428 from SEGA. Family Ski World Ski and Snowboard from Namco / Bandai. Karaoke Joysound from Hudson. Taiko no Tatsujin Wii from Namco / Bandai. Tenchu 4 from From Software. Harvest Moon: Waku Waku Animal March from Marvelous. Rune Factory Frontier from Marvelous. And Shape Boxing Wii de Enjoyment by Rocket Company.

The montage also shows 2009 games from Nintendo: Wii Sports Resort. Punch-Out!! Another Code: R. Supaan Smasher. Dynamic Shin (working title). Tact of Magic. Kensakusu. Cosmic Walker (this game already looks amazing). Sin and Punishment 2. Forever Blue: Beautiful Ocean. NHK Quiz. And Line Attack Heroes. We repeat: these are all Wii games from Nintendo.

Hm, if they fix the turrible pathing in FFCC:EoT, I would be happy to pick that up.

Punchout could be cool with the improved Wiimotion add-on.

SD saves do sound promising, but what happened to that other storage device that the retailers have? I'd rather have that, I think.

Edit: hm, I wonder what's going to be shown when TGS actually starts?

Yuji Naka's Prope studio updated their Let's Tap website:
http://prope.sega.jp/letstap/

Looks like a mini-game compilation controlled entirely with just the Wiimote's B button, judging by the position of the Wiimote. Catchy theme song on the web site.

LET'S-TAP LETSTAP, CHOOSE-YOUR-TAPPING-GAME.

"Megatons" is stretching it.

They had better do this Punch-Out right, since they seem to be content to only give us one per decade.

wow, there were more games than I expected

also that sd solution, finally! it should have been day 1, we still have to wait another x months
but i can start buying content again.

I guess I should clarify that I was talking about the E3 vs. October conference.

I wonder if this was their plan all along however? Leave E3 alone and move all of their important announcements to October to increase hype and interest right before the holiday season. I can't say I agree with what they did at the E3 conference, but it would make sense to have important stuff near the end of the year in most likely the biggest shopping season.

I do question the DS not being released in the US before the holidays...

I have a feeling the whole DL to SD card is just that.... Download... you'll probably still have to copy games to internal memory to play them... considering Nintendo's previous statements on copying them back & forth...

I'm so glad they included Chibi Robo in the "Enjoy with Wii" series. If they're revisiting GC greats, I wish they'd update Luigi's Mansion...or make an honest-to-god sequel...for the Wii.

Well the Lite launched in June and still sold like hot cakes, maybe they aren't worried. They're probably just going to bank on Wiis and Wii Fits this holiday since there doesn't seem like anything special coming.

I know it's going to sell regardless of what month its released, I just find the timing odd.

Found a bunch of additional screens on Famitsu: http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1218549_1124.html

They should really put Pikmin 1 & 2 together, as well as Metroid Prime 1 & 2. Although it looks like they won't. At least not for Pikmin (probably because Pikmin 2 is rare as hell). MP1&2 in the same package would be awesome.

It was last century actually!

I cant wait for punch out, but I am boxing fan.

Looks like I better dump my sealed Pikmin 2 then. I have yet to get through the first one.

(Without reading this whole thread first, so apologies if this has been discussed...)

Can someone explain what is "new" about the SD card storage announcement? You can already copy VC games to an SD card. And I understand that this announcement didn't say anything about being able to play them straight off the card rather than just using it as backup storage.

So what is it that was announced that's different from what we already know?

I am pretty sure you'll be able to play them on the SD card. Still kind of sucks since the Wii does not support SDHC.

I assume for now that the "download to SD card" statement is a mistranslation, and they really do mean that games are playable directly from the SD card.

If not and they've only removed (or improved) the encryption techniques during the transfer to make them faster, I will be very disappointed in this so called "solution".

In any case, hopefully further clarification will be given at the press conference today in the US, so we'll have to wait and see.

As long as they release them for, at most, $30 (and ideally $20), I won't mind them releasing them separately.

I think it's going to be $30, which is perfect.
