Fallout 3 - Gen. Discussion & Info - 'GOTY' Edition w/All 5 DLC Packs 10.13.09

Just got to Rivert City. Where can I find a good sniper rifle? I'd love to hone in on those super mutants from a distance.
 
My clock just went tits up on me. I am returning that bitch and just getting the Collectors. Dammit. That clock really brought my room together.

Had another mini marathon tonight and kept thinking damn this seems to be winding down so I peeked ahead in the strategy guide I got from Amazon yesterday and i'm at the last main quest. I told them I needed to get my stuff ready before we head out and i'm gonna finish up the sidequests and chase down bobble heads first. Level 19 and about 32 hours in a week, game of the freakin year no doubt.

Just got this game used for $40 from gamestop thanks to the cell phone coupon + edge card. Yeah, I fed the unholy beast that is gamestop, but that's hella cheap for this game. Can't wait to finish Fable 2 and dig into this!
 
Awww I lost my dog.
I got knocked out by the enclave and I awoke in their base. Problem was that my dog didn't come with me. Aww I'm sad. On the other hand I met Fawkes outside and he joined me, but still it would have rocked to have both.

Is the dog in vault 101?
 
The most ridiculous thing happend today, was playing the Head of State mission and got all the artifacts and was getting ready to head out with them to Lincoln Memorial when all of a sudden a Deathclaw comes out and kills everyone so wasn't able to finish the mission... Thankfully had another save before that, but goddamn pain in the ass.

I've had stuff like that happen before. For example:

I was on a quest to kill certain people once and when I entered one of the targets houses, there was a Mirelock Hunter in there wailing on my target. The hunter won easily and made my job that much easier. Pretty damned amusing too.

I ended up
talking my way out of it and my friend I think one-shotted him with a crit using some type of assault rifle or shotgun.

I'm a big fan of the combat shotgun and more and more, the laser rifle. The Hunting Rifle is my go-to in the open plains though.

The hunting rifle is a beast, but really more so in v.a.t.s. The clunky combat outside of vats makes it some what hard to use effectively.

The Chinese pistol is definitely shitty! It's strange though, because the gun it's designed after (Typer 80 pistol) is actually a powerful weapon in the realm of hand guns.

What thing that kind of chaps my ass a bit is the lack of accuracy with the sniper rifle at great distances in v.a.t.s. It seems to be no more accurate than the other rifles despite it being a equipped with a scope and being called a SNIPER rifle.
 
Well it's just that the damage is so crappy compared to the 10mm, and for me the Chinese Pistol is harder to come by so I can't repair as easily as I can with the 10mm. With such reduced damage, I figured it would of had a faster firing rate, or better accuracy, but according to that weapons sheet it just sucks. :lol:

I love the Hunting Rifle, I can't wait to get the Ol' Painless since it's supposed to be like the Hunting Rifle but better. And the Combat Shotgun is also awesome, I tend to use the Combat Shotgun when they are close and then use the Hunting Rifle from afar.

Wait till you get "The Terrible Shotgun" from Smiling Jack at Evergreen Mills. Up to 80 dmg point blank to the face = dead anything.

And you guys weren't joking about Fawkes. The dude is a fucking beast. Him, Dogmeat, and I absolutely destroyed the Tacoma Industrial super mutant behemoth without having to use the artillery rounds.

Yeah, the hunting rifle is my personal favorite as well. I even find myself using it in close quarters instead of the combat shotgun. For some reason, I don't do as much damage with the combat shotgun. Weird.
 
I Only use Hunting Rifle in VATS since the shooting and then then prepping the next shot bugs the hell out of me if I'm not in it. Other then that, combat shotgun FTW.
 
I actually like using the Hunting Rifle without VATS. As long as I'm fighting humanoids and they don't move, it's just like playing a Kraut in Red Orchestra. :lol:
 
It's a lot easier to fulfill quests and remain mobile if you're "evil"---especially when you run out of ammo and only have the Power Glove. I killed many-a-hobo to make certain I would be able to make my way to where I was supposed to go and find a place to buy ammo/health and save.

for the first time, yesterday. That kid can
find his own home

before
he could shoot the sheriff (but I did not shoot the deputy)
. I wish I knew of the long-term effect that has on
Megaton
---but I went on a serial killing spree and wiped out the town at night.

Ok, I am a dumb ass, I followed the power lines all the way north but nothin. Though I did have a nasty run in with a deathclaw
 
Ahhh, found it, I feel like a retard. I picked up the radio signal and the radiation but I just thought......well....it was the wastland.


Has anyone checked out the oasis, creepy place. But its like 3 dog said, there are trees with photosynthesis and all that stuff

so disappointed in the main storyline. Could have made it much longer instead of having so many side quests. I thought I was only halfway through the main plot and the story was building up to something, but then it abruptly ends out of nowhere. The final mission was a joke.

Great game nonetheless, just wished the main storyline had more substance. There was potential for something climatic to happen, but it never did.
