Fitzpatrick has been tough to have as well. He started out great, then was awful, then somehow had a great game against the Jets D. Looking at both their stats, it's funny how close they are. According to ESPN, Jacksonville is 6th overall vs. opposing QBs and Tennessee is 14th, and Fitzpatrick is projected to have the better game, for what it's worth.
That's why I said it's a wash. Both could go off and have a huge game this week, or both could implode and do nothing. Neither team's matchup is particularly strong or weak, so it basically comes down to personal preference. In favor of Fitz, in the first game after the Bills lost Fred Jackson for the season, Fitz rebounded back to his start of season form. That's why, if I owned both Rivers and Fitz, I'd go with Fitz. The Bills basically have no running game anymore, and Fitz showed that he could produce without it against the Jets, of all teams. It could be a fluke, but I think it's a reasonable risk to take. If you feel that Rivers is a better play this week, that isn't a bad pick either. I'm not so disillusioned that I think Rivers is a bad fantasy QB this season. He's just no longer the guy that you lock in every week as your starter, but rather a guy who, should you have a reasonably strong alternative, you can bench Rivers and not feel bad about it, regardless of how your pick ends up doing.
Damn you, Haley. As a Chiefs fan, I hope the Palko talk is just posturing. Palko is simply not an NFL QB.
If KC is playing games with their starting QB, you might want to take the safe route and pick up Hanie. I think he'll have a decent game -- Nothing spectacular, but certainly a better play than any of the other QBs you listed.
Well guys let me know what you think of my lineup choices for this week. I am (5-7) and as of right now I own the final wildcard spot. I'm tied record wise with another guy in my division but I own the tiebreaker as we split the season series 1-1 but I have a better division record (4-3) to his (3-4).
I clinch the final playoff spot with a win or a loss by him. Here's what I have to work with:
QB (1):
Big Ben, C.Palmer
RB (2):
CJ2K, MJD, SJAX, C.J. Spiller
WR (3):
DJAX (already screwed me with 3 pts Thursday night
), L.Robinson, J.Knox, H. Douglas, V. Brown
TE (1):
J. Gresham, Jake Ballard
K (1):
M.Crosby
DEF (1):
Tenn, JAX
I've highlighted the guys I'm going to start. I'm benching SJAX because he's playing agianst the 49ers and they've been stifling RBs all year. At WR I'm set on Robinson but not sure who to play at the #3 slot. I'm thinking Knox because he seems to be the favorite target of Hanie. At TE I've dropped Daniels. He's finished. I'm hoping Gresham can continue his solid play.
When it comes to defenses I'm leaning towards Tennessee against Buffalo but at the same time the Jags face a turnover happy Chargers offense. I really don't expect to win because I'm playing the best team in my league and he's got guys like Brady that have matchups against turds like Indy. My only hope is that the weather is shitty in NE and they are forced to run the law firm a ton. I do want to give it my best shot however.
Looks like you already have the best lineup penciled in. Good luck with your matchup, and let's hope for some big games from those guys tomorrow.
