Fantasy Football "Who should I start?" thread
I keep going back & forth on this one.

Flex spot ?: Mendenhall vs CIN or Megatron vs MIN

PPR league, standard scoring otherwise.
That is a tough call, but I lean toward Mendenhall.

Just read that DeAngelo Williams is questionable for this week. If he doesn't play, would that make Jonathan Stewart vs. Atlanta a better start than Cedric Benson vs. Pittsburgh? It's definitely a more favorable matchup (Atlanta is 24th vs. the run) but Stewart is a bit dinged up himself. I guess MJD is also questionable this week, so I'm going to have to monitor the inactives list pretty closely this week.

For Sunday

WR
Do I start Mikes Sims Walker and Miles Austin or Greg Jennings and one of those two

RB
Pierre Thomas or Kevin Smith

At WR, definitely go with Austin and Jennings. Sims-Walker is at the Jets, who have not allowed a 100 yard game to a WR this year. Andre Johnson, Randy Moss and Marques Colston all got shut down by Jets CB Darrelle Revis- their combined totals were 10 catches, 92 yards, no TDs. Also, Garrard has not thrown a TD pass on the road yet this year.

At RB, go with Thomas. The Vikings have only allowed 2 rushing TDs all year. I don't see Smith doing much against them this week.
Who should I start this week at WR?
Vincent Jackson & Roddy White are pretty much no-brainers but my 3rd spot is up in the air. Should I play Austin Collie, Michael Crabtree, or Santana Moss?
Hopefully it's not too late and you didn't play Crabtree. I'd go with Moss, but Collie may be a nice sleeper against a NE D that will focus on Clark and Wayne.

I like Mendenhall against a Cincy D that's starting to fall apart from injuries. Though, if you want to risk it, Mega could score.
Here are some of the players who are available:

McFadden
Buckhalter
Donald Brown
Michael Bush
Justin Fargas
Beanie Wells
Derrick Ward
Buckhalter (because he's out-performed Moreno, and shouldn't be on the WW) first, then Wells (even though he's got he start, 'zona is pass first and hightower catches). Wait for D. Brown to see if he picks back up the 60/40 split - or Addai finally gets hurt.

MSW and Austin. If Dallas plays GB like they did Philly, then Rodgers will be on his back most of the game - Pack needs a new O-line.

PT Cruiser. I like Smith, but he's going anywhere against Minnesota.

I like Tennessee against Buffalo more than Miami facing a Bucs line that's looks a lot better. The Bills don't really score much, so you should get the points for that, atleast.
Charles and Betts are gone but Darren McFadden is available. Here are some of the players who are available:

id say buckhalter or wells this week. but mcfadden would be worth picking up in the long run if you have the room. hes the #1 back there, but it might be a couple weeks before hes getting a majority of the touches again.

Anyone have any thoughts on starting Jonathan Stewart (vs Atlanta) over Cedric Benson (vs Pittsburgh) if DeAngelo Williams is inactive today? Williams didn't practice Friday and is questionable for today; if he plays, I'll definitely be starting Benson.

Or how about Warner or Favre at QB? Favre faces Detroit's 31st ranked pass D, but he didn't light them up that much when they played earlier this year, and there's always the chance the Vikings could go up big without much from Favre, and then grind them out with AP.

OK, I have to start two of these RBs today:

Benson
Slaton bye
Addai
Fargas
Jamall Charles
Westbrook

I was thinking of going Benson & Addai although Fargas does have a favorable matchup against the Chiefs.

Ha, ha! I ended starting LDT and he had 21 pts. I'm up 33 pts and still have D. Mason to play. My opponent has R. Rice left.

If the score was a little closer, I'm not sure how I would've felt about MJD taking a knee on the 1 yard line. I think he did the right thing, though. The team always comes first and it shows confidence in their kicker.

At least he apologized to his fantasy football owners.

My team is on fire. Pick 2 out of these 3 this week (PPR):

Mike Sims-Walker
Steve Smith (CAR)
Sidney Rice

It's a tough decision.

I'm trying to decide which 2 to start out of these 3:

Miles Austin
Chad Ochocinco
Steve Smith (CAR)

I've been starting Austin and Ochocinco, but that hasn't been working out so well the last couple weekends, and Smith seems to be starting to pick it up a bit.

I would start Steve Smith (weak Dolphins secondary, Panthers/Delhomme looking better) and Ochocinco (Raiders = plenty of turnovers, he should see the ball with good field position).

my trade deadline is tonight so im throwing a bunch of crazy stuff towards people. 1 for 1, 4 for 2, 3 for 2 trades. hopefully one of them goes through as they will all benefit me.

looks like orton might not be starting, that means ill probably have to bench marshall in favor of boldin this week. warner better get him the ball, this is a big game for me, we have a 5 way tie for the last 2 playoff spots right now.

1. Sims-Walker (BUF) or Jennings (SF)??

2. T. Jones (@NE) or T. Hightower (@STL)??

I'm leaning towards Sims-Walker and T. Jones. Sims-Walker is sick at home (check his splits) and Buffalo is terrible coming off of a week where they just fired the head coach. Jennings has been a HUGE disappointment but I don't want to miss the game when he finally breaks out (like I did with LDT last week).

T. Jones has been a BEAST for me this year so he is a no-brainer on all weeks except this one since they are at NE playing a very good pissed off team at home. Hightower has been completely unpredictable but this week they play the Rams indoors so he should have a good game especially when the Cards jump out to a 14 point lead and start running the ball more.

This is a HUGE week for me - I'm barely hanging on to 3rd place. Thoughts?

id go with jones over hightower for sure. as for your 2 WR, id flip a coin. MSW is probably the safer choice. but its jennings, you just cant count him out. hes liable to get 100+ yards and a td any given week.

OK, here's my options for this week:

(1)QB - Matt Ryan (Orton, my backup, is hurt. Thinking about adding Stafford vs CLE)
(2)RB - Addai, Slaton, Forsett, Betts, Charles (Benson is out)
(3)WR - R. White, V. Jackson, S. Moss, Crabtree, Collie

javeryh, I'd go the way you say you're leaning- Sims-Walker and Jones.

Chitown021, even if you add Stafford, I'd still go with Ryan. Assuming you start 2 RBs and 2 WRs, I'd go Addai and Slaton, White and Jackson. Actually, now that I think of it, the team I'm facing this week starts White and Jackson, so no offense but I hope I'm giving you bad advice. ;)

I could use some quick advice- I picked up Bernard Scott (Ced Benson's backup) off the waiver wire this week. Should I go with him (I also have Benson if they announce last minute that he's playing) or Jonathan Stewart. If I'm going with Stewart, I need to put him in my lineup in the next 10 minutes before I leave for work.

We start 3 WRs. My first two are no brainers but I have to choose between Collie, Moss, and Crabtree for #3.

I think Bernard Scott has the better matchup.

The thing that worries me about Scott is how much will LJ be involved? I'd hate to start him and then watch him get 4 carries, while Stewart puts up another 2 TDs while on my bench. (again)

I hear ya there. I thought about picking up Scott since I also have Benson and he's hurt but when I read about LJ getting a bunch of the carries in practice I was worried about it.
Well, I'm off to work. Stewart is on my bench, so I really hope he doesn't go off tonight.
Smart decision benching Stewart ;)

Dammit. I'm already screwed this week because Ricky just put up 31 points by himself against me. I knew this was going to happen.

I didn't know that D. Bowe had been suspended and I had a chance to pick up Maclin and/or L. Coles. I have Santana Moss (vs Dallas) but I'm wondering who I should pick up for the stretch run or for a better matchup this week:

Johnny Knox (vs Philadelphia)
Donnie Avery (vs Arizona)
James Jones (vs San Francisco)
Chris Chambers (vs Pittsburgh)
Torry Holt (vs Buffalo)
Jason Avant (vs Chicago)
Bryant Johnson (vs Cleveland)
Kenny Britt (vs Houston)
Michael Jenkins (vs NY Giants)

Also, I'm starting K. Smith (vs Cleveland) over Tomlinson (vs Denver). I'm hoping K. Smith finally goes off.

Who should I start?

Rivers vs Denver
McNabb vs Chicago

Hurting at RB, I got Ricky Williams for Miles Austin straight up yesterday. Wanting to not let me start him, the guy waiting until the game started before accepting the trade.

Asshole.

I'd pick up Knox - Chicago is desperate and Cutler will be throwing it all over the place.

I'd start Rivers no question - he is an elite QB. McNabb can put up great numbers but he is too unpredictable.

same thing happened to me. im hoping my guys can match.

Knox is like Cutler's 5th favorite target behind Olsen, Forte, Hester, & the other team.

I've got a few decisions to make:

Schaub (TEN) or Brady (NYJ)? Had this exact same match-up a few weeks ago and I started Brady. Schaub went out of his mind against the Titans and Brady dropped a turd against the Jets. Seems like Tennessee is better and New York isn't so hot now though.

Start Brandon Marshall? Chris Simms is starting; as a Bucs fan, I have an intimate knowledge of how much he sucks.
Schaub & Brady? That's a nice problem to have.

If your weak @ RB or WR, make a trade.
I'm in an 8 man league, so our teams are pretty stacked. I got lucky and picked Schaub late on a hunch.

At RB I have:

Steven Jackson
LDT
Steve Slaton
Marshawn Lynch
Ahmad Bradshaw
LeSean McCoy
Laurence Maroney

I also don't know which two or three to start this week (besides S Jax).

Start Brady, Welker was hurt last time they faced the Jets.

Start SJax, McCoy, and Maroney. Though, if you're a gambling man, try Slaton instead of Maroney in case he makes a case on why he was the starter to begin with - you know, goes the fuck off.
I'd pick up Avery (#1 & 2 TDs last week) and start McNabb.

Personally, I would not pick up any Rams receiver this season regardless how well they might perform. It seems each week they lose one. Robinson was turning into a stud, then Bam, IR. Avery has gotton hurt every other week. Burton takes over for Laurent and gimps himself onto IR. Amendola gets a concussion and suddenly is back to returns only. Yeah, I'd leave StL alone... except for SJax.

smith has had a rough couple weeks. atl doesnt have a great run d, so jacobs is a good play. id go with jacobs personally. also, theres an edit button.

Jacobs might be due for a break out, but I still like Smith against the Clowns. Smith should do much better with Stafford playing, CJ healthy, and he's not showing any signs of that shoulder injury.

big trade in the works. deadline is tonight... (thought it was yesterday), if this deal goes through its going to make or break the season for both of us.

Here we go for this week
WR
Do I start Greg Jennings over Miles austin or Mike Sims-Walker

RB's
Rashard Mendenhall over Jason Snelling?

Tough call. Oakland has one good player and he's a cornerback. I really think this Miles Austin thing has to end though but Washington is terrible. I have no advice.
Here we go for this week

I am actually facing the same problem and I'm starting Sims-Walker over Jennings. There's 100% chance it backfires since that's the way I roll.

I like Austin. The last two weeks teams have found out that they can't ignore Williams to focus on Austin; because of that, I expect Austin to get more catches (he's still getting a lot of looks) because Washington can't focus on him solely.

MSW is facing a team, while struggling to win, have played well against the pass. Jennings has been so damn inconsistent, and has QB struggling with a week O-line.

Now, here's the big question: Would you start Turner over Mendenhall? Because that's essentially what you're dealing with in Snelling. He's shown last week he can be plugged in and do well, and Atlanta didn't change their gameplan.
