Also regarding MK9, I really want to drop the $17.99 for 3 months of PSN Plus just so I can get the demo this Tuesday.

anyway, news of Frank West and Strider in MvC3? hope its true... still hoping Jin or Venom or Cap Commando make it in... then I'll prob plop down full price for the game.

Yea it's available the week after for everyone. I know one of my friends is getting it for his PS3 and bringing it to one of our sessions this week.

MVC3 needs Carnage or/and Red Skull.

I think I found my tournament team, or at least the closest thing to a final one so far.


x-jordan (hamburgler color) B/black Dante A/black Sentinel C (baracket punch color)

Sentinel assist means if x-23 lands a hit on anyone and she has 1 bar they lose 1.1 million because she builds like 1.3 bars and dhc's into dante off of weapon x
-23 (which you get because of rocket punch otg and fully charged a slash comboing) who then goes devil trigger and gets an unscaled combo.
 
i've been trying felicia / akuma / tron

i called it team FAT

unfortunately i don't like akuma in the middle.

ideally my game plan is to use felicia and get a key DHC / first character kill, have the second character be beastly with meter and take out the second character and i'd be in good shape. lv2/3 x-factor felicia is nuts and has an easy infinite loop out of jab... as if she isn't powerful enough already with the increased speed and crazy throw mixups. tron is there just for assist.

in the second spot i tried zero (sucks because he does crappy damage and takes damage like crazy), akuma (also takes damage like crazy, does not really benefit from meter), ryu(good with meter, but slow and doesn't work well with tron assist), amaterasu(maybe, but again, also takes too much damage).

who else can i try. i was thinking viper because burning kick assist might have good synergy with felicia and she seems like she does a lot of damage once you learn her stuff.
 
omg, sentinel gets a relaunch after a fly combo from x-jordans otg assist. Easy as hell combo nets me 823k for 1 bar while building like 2 -_-

When are you planning on the vacation? I'll be in Tokyo at the end of April for 3 weeks. Honestly I'd rather go somewhere else, like London or Paris, I'm burnt out of Japan. But the trip is a must since we're introducing the baby to the Nihon family.

Not sure if I'm going yet. EVO starts on the last day of my Summer Classes, which sucks. I'd like to play in a Major sometime before I die.

That is kind of my logic as well. And I figure that this will be the year to do it, with Marvel being new and all.

Come for day 2 and 3 and we can all hang. That is one of my main reasons for going, to meet everyone IRL.
 
Been playing with Spencer on point and Trish with the anti-air trap assist. It has been awesome. Spencer's Bionic arm hits ground opponents, so there really is no need for a teammate with an OTG assist. Also Spencer can deal some pretty good damage without using meter, but when I need to , Bionic Lancer (ARRRRRMMM!) is a quick punish.

His obvious pitfall is getting in on a person. I'm thinking of either Chris, Magento, or Sent as my third character. But alas I haven't put much time into playing as them so far. Anyone else got any ideas on who my 3rd character (and assist) should be?

Also, I fun coincidence. I will be in Vegas the same weekend as EVO! I demand an intoxicated side tournament only, buffet meet up and strip club event with CAGs. Strip Club= MarkMan stripping some TE sticks in his private hotel room.
 
GG's AxC. I swear my Sentinel is better than that despite you trashing it the few times I used him! I was doing all the wrong inputs for the moves I was thinking lol.

I'm so afraid to do some combos online because I'll probably drop it and I don't even hit confirm online anymore. I kind of feel bad for some of the random supers too. I need to start learning more than just combos I learned on the first day. If this was offline, you would of won even more probably. GG's!

GG's! It was fun!

It's all good man, I feel the same way sometimes. I know you saw me drop almost all my attempts at the Phoenix Loop. Also I dropped the easy ass Dormammu combo a couple times as well.

Funny thing is you play the exact same team (and order) as one of my friends that lives near me. We play a lot so I'm pretty comfortable with that team and that all my effors should be to get rid of Wesker :)

Also what I wanted to say is be careful with the Wesker Super. It has zero frames of invul so it runs into a lot of random shit and a lot of normal stuff stops it. Phoenix Traps eat it up and so do most well timed projectiles.

I dunno about Chris. Most of the good Chris players I've played locally or randomly online, have had teams that were based around him/for him. He doesn't control the air quite as annoying as Cable and his Supers are pretty wonky (especially that Level 1 Ice). His Assists are also pretty questionable.

If you are running Spencer/Trish, just try to think of a character or assist that would help both of them do what they need to do. Spencer to possibly extend combos/get him in easier, Trish to help her be more annoying than she already is?

Been only using Chris because of his Machine Gun assist. Besides that, it was the only other person I kind of know how to use. I got Trish on anti-air trap, so when it does land it becomes a free armor piercer into combos for Spencer.

I know Tron AA assist, Doom Rockets and the bunch would help out, but I want to try other characters (which is why I got Spencer on point). We'll see but alas I will be mvc3less for the next week.

MK9, need more INFO!

It's the best MK game I've played in a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time. I don't want to give a final opinion on it yet since I haven't even spent an hour total on it, but I keep booting it back up to see what else I can do in it. It seems like a pretty decent MK game, I could see myself buying it and enjoying it.

You should totally, like, come over and try it out with me! It's only a few days drive to here!

Then what is the point of the OG MK layout? LP,HP,LK,HK,Block that is five buttons, what is the 6th one for? Tag teammate in?

They changed the attacks to something like FP, BP, BK, and FK. Other than that, yea, you're correct.

At our local session last night, 2 of our setups had the MK9 demo on it. I really like that it feels like old school MK. Art design look great, the controls so far are solid.

Scorpion's win pose was too fucking cool.

Regarding that other game that's out, for the last day I've been trying to get myself to stop playing Sentinel all the time.

The problem is I'm having fun playing Dormammu, but his Assists are ass and don't help anyone.

I've been thinking about trying out Tron as well, since she looks fun.

The sound she makes during her jump C is enough to make me throw my stick in a fit of rage. You'd always win by default because my fucking stick would be broken the moment you did it.

A friend of mine has been doing well with Felicia/Tron/Wesker. Not sure if all of them are your cup of tea though.
