Fighting Game Thread 8 went so deep, so deep, put that ass to sleep
How does PS2 look on it?
I've never hooked a PS2 up to it. I play 3rd Strike, CVS2, and KOFXI on it with the triple and they look fine.

It's amazing how much more fun fighting games can be when you play against some cool people that are there just to have fun. I played online yesterday and I eventually turned my mic off because of the amount of elitist pricks that I encountered.

But then, I played in a room with some of my fellow contestants and the atmosphere was just totally different.

Anyways, looking forward to BB:CS today :)
I'm undefeated in BBCS.
LOL

I didn't put much time in BBCT, but if I can scrounge up enough BS in my video game library to trade to GS, I might pick up BBCS.

Is today the ship date, or will some GS' have it?

aaaaaaaaaanndd last question (I hope) about the ASUS VH236H

I know the Monitor can output 1080p. Should I have the monitor at that and have the PS3 match it? Or is it optimal to have the PS3 at 720p and the monitor to match? Or something else (Ex. PS3 at 720p, Monitor at 1080p)?

Alright, FGT, I come to you for the expert advice. Don't let me down, k? So a couple of days ago, I notice that my Sam's Club has Street Fighter 4 + Fightstick bundle for $43. Hearing a random comments about it, it seems sorta meh. But at the same time, it's very easy to customize, if I feel the need to do so. Also, I'm not a super hardcore fighting gamer, so as long as it's servicable for my occasional DOA4/Soulcalibur/anynonfightinggamethatmaybefunwithastick plays, I'm fine with it. And I really don't care too much for SF4, so the only plus of it being a bundle is I could maybe sell it for $15 or so...

Then today, I went to TRU and saw the Hori EX2 stick for $40. IIRC, this one is pretty old and I didn't pay any attention to it when it was new, as I didn't have a 360. So I really don't know how good it is.

Anyway, I just want to know which one is worth getting over the other. Also, is there a way these can be modded to work on a PS3? And if so, how hard is it?

I wouldn't buy the Hori EX2 stick under any circumstances. The fightstick bundle is perfectly adequate though.

The only time the EX2 was good was back when it was the DOA4 stick, and was the only thing on the 360... and even then, the best part about it was that Gamestop had a deal where it was $30, and the thing sold for $100+ on Ebay. Good times.

That was 4 years ago though. I'm old as dirt.
any shitty fighters worth playing right now?
Unlock all the secret characters in Battle Arena Toshinden 3 and get back to me. That should keep you busy for a while.

I've heard solid things about it but you can check out Vanguard Princess. It's a Doujin 2-D Fighter that is free.

Or you can track down a copy of Jackie Chan's Fist Of Fire on PC:

Just picked up Blazblue: CS today. Not sure how much time I'll get to it though because I unexpectedly picked up MLB 10: The Show with it. Been wanting a good Baseball game for a long time now since EA shat all over the NFL license.

Dude, I did that. Took forever, I fell asleep playing that shit.

I'll tell you what's going to happen:

You're going to buy that bundle and suck terribly with the stick. You're going to spend hours learning that stick. You're going to install new buttons for $20 because the SE's will crap out in about a month. Then you're going to get a hang of things. You're going to fall in love with whatever fighting games you're playing because the stick is awesome, and you'll start to gain interest in playing other sweet fighters like SSF4, BBCS and other future titles.

Then you're going to wish you bought a Round 2 TE for $99.

True story.

I'm gonna suck terribly with any stick I get anyway. I didn't mention it, but I never had an arcade stick before. And I haven't played any fighting games in an arcade since... well, the ones I remember are CvS2, MvC2, and VF3.

But anyway, so far 2 out of 2 say go for the SE over the EX2? Anything particularly wrong with the Hori?

Yeah just buy a TE. I've put in over 800+ matchs on Street Fighter 4 +SSFIV and countless other games, gave my TE stick a falcon punch multiple times and the thing still works like a charm.

i agree with that. I have the SE and I'm going to swap out the joystick, gate, and buttons and I looked online for how much its gonna be.

You're pretty much gonna be spending about $30+ dollars just to use different parts than the SE. Almost as much as a TE stick if you decide to buy the TE AND all the mods

Hey dudes.
I've been thinking of getting Tekken 6 for the PS3 since I got $35 Amazon credit in my account. However, as I don't know anybody in my area that really plays fighting games, I plan to go almost solely online, and maybe a bunch of bouts with a few of my friends.

Now, I've read about how crappy the online is; how online skill doesn't translate to offline. Or how poor the connections are between games. But I want to hear it myself from you guys.

I need your opinion, CAG. Is it worth it?

Or I can just opt out and get the new Blaz...

Yep.
I bought a SE stick specifically to mod (when it was impossible to get TE sticks) and figured I'd be fine.

Then I eventually bought an MVC2 TE.

Then because I like the TE so much I got a Round 2 TE.

See where this is going?

Personally, I'd get Continuum Shift instead, unless you're fine with playing T6 offline most of the time. The netcode is real bad... even with a good connection, it drops frequently.

@Markman: You need help for PAX Prime? What kind of help?

If you say it'll be fun, I can make plans to go. =)

Allright, thanks man. I'll look into it.

would it help me get in?
how about lodging and transportation?

Continuum Shift's story is a continuation of Calamity Trigger's, so if you care about plot(and in this case, you should), play the original one first. I've been working on getting the true ending for BB:CT and it really shows how much potential there is in the story modes of fighting games.

Happy Birthday to the other July Babies here in the FGT! My 24th birthday was on the 18th. Spent it at a casino and lost about $35.:lol::lol:

I don't want to get serious, but be sure to spend as much time with your parents and grandparents as you can. My Grandpa passed away yesterday. He suffered a small stroke back around Christmas and wasn't able to do the things he did for fun(Tiger Woods on the computer, operate his TV and DVD player, etc.) so he was just sitting a lot of the time. SwiMom and I would take him out to lunch a couple of times a week and he really seemed to enjoy it. We feel it kept him going far longer than he would have if we didn't.

Bottom Line: They won't be there forever. Enjoy their company while you can. You might keep them going longer by doing so.

Oh hai Unlimited Hazama. nice green circle that takes life from me and gives it to you. and thanks for using that kick DD to interrupt my Taokaka combos. -_-

I've been told over and over how good the story is in Blaz (or at least how relevant it is; it's not another "HERE'S A TOURNAMENT, GO"). But to be honest, I don't want to drop $20 just for storymode. I'll Google the storyline and maybe just get CS.

I'm lame.
Lies. It'd be a real dream for you if it was only on xbox
When I see it, it reminds me so much of Golden Axe The Duel or Dark Legend.

No, that's not a good thing. But hey, it looks better than both of those.

Who's hyped for Arcana Heart 3 on home consoles? Think Atlus(U.S. AH1 Publisher) or Aksys will pick it up?
